Corporate expense management platform <keyword id="2738808" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="happay" source="Orion">Happay</keyword>, owned by credit <keyword id="6360117" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="card" source="Orion">Card</keyword> bill payment provider CRED, has slashed nearly 35 per cent of its workforce as part of a restructuring exercise, the media reported. According to leading startup news portal Inc42, at least 160 employees from departments like sales, marketing, tech, product, and operations, have been asked to go by the platform. According to the report, Happay is giving impacted employees three months salary along with an extension of insurance coverage and some other additional benefits. When reached, CRED did not immediately comment on layoffs at Happay, which it acquired in December 2021 in a cash and stock deal that valued Happay at $180 million. "With professional expenses forming a significant portion of credit card spends, bringing professional expense management into the CRED ecosystem is a natural extension of our proposition," <keyword id="192201" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kunal-shah" source="Orion">Kunal Shah</keyword>, founder, CRED, had said in a statement during the acquisition. While Happay operated as a separate entity, the team worked closely with CRED leadership to leverage its ecosystem, build distribution, expand the product offering and drive scale. CRED last year acquired SaaS lending-as-a-service platform CreditVidya in a mix of cash and stock transaction for an undisclosed sum. At least 22 edtech startups have slashed 9,781 jobs to date. In the first five months into 2023, more than 8,000 employees lost their jobs in India by nearly 50 startups. Homegrown virtual events platform Airmeet sacked about 30 per cent of its workforce, or at least 75 employees, according to the report. About 27K employees lost jobs at Indian startups to date, over 8K this year

<ul class="summary-list"><li>As a <a href="https://www.insider.com/signs-starbucks-order-will-be-messed-up-former-barista-2021-12">former Starbucks barista</a>, I tried <a href="https://www.insider.com/which-fast-food-chains-have-good-black-coffee-review">black coffee</a> from four fast-food chains to find the best one.</li><li>McDonald's and Wendy's were worth coming back for — I enjoyed the flavors of both.</li></ul>Despite being a <a href="https://www.insider.com/signs-starbucks-order-will-be-messed-up-former-barista-2021-12">former Starbucks barista</a> and self-proclaimed <keyword id="11909377" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="coffee" source="Orion">coffee</keyword> connoisseur, I have a soft spot for crappy cups of joe. I'm talking about the coffee you get from gas stations on a road trip, funeral homes with questionable powdered "creamer," and greasy-spoon diner counters on Sunday mornings.Like these spots, fast-food chains aren't necessarily known for their blends, so <a href="https://www.insider.com/which-fast-food-chains-have-good-black-coffee-review">I ordered a small black coffee</a> from McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, and Sonic to see which has the best.I then ranked each coffee based on <a href="https://blog.bluebottlecoffee.com/posts/3od8h4z6k99v1uk8dgy2wbnhlmf0sq">five categories</a>: sweetness/bitterness, <a href="https://specialcoffeeitaly.com/coffee-body-how-to-feel-it/">body</a>, acidity, flavors, and finish.<h2>Sonic was the only chain I wouldn't order from again</h2><div type="image" title="cup of sonic coffee sitting on a window ledge" height="3024" width="4032" msid="91356718" hostid="261"></div><a href="https://www.insider.com/who-has-the-best-fast-food-hot-dogs-2019-4">Sonic's</a> breakfast menu has lots of hits, but coffee isn't one of them — unless you're a die-hard Keurig fan who likes the familiarity of Green Mountain coffee.I ordered this later in the day, which worked in my favor because the employee had to brew a fresh pot. But the little hope I had was dashed after a few sips.Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I thought Sonic's coffee was poorly extracted (the process of steeping the grounds in water), slightly bitter, and just overall disappointing.If Sonic was your only choice for coffee, I'd suggest just not getting coffee. <h2>Burger King's coffee was solidly mediocre</h2><div type="image" title="cup of burger king coffee sitting on a window ledge" height="3024" width="4032" msid="91356719" hostid="261"></div>The temperature of <a href="https://www.insider.com/trying-all-burger-king-breakfast-sandwiches-reviewed-photos-2022-2">Burger King's</a> coffee was closer to warm than hot when I got it, but it was well-extracted.With chocolate on the nose and notes of molasses, it was more sweet than bitter. Although the overall flavor was pleasant, it was slightly more acidic than the others, which made it difficult to drink too much of it.I probably would've enjoyed it more if it were fresher and hotter. If it was the only option, I'd order it again. But I wouldn't seek it out.<h2>I was nervous to try Wendy's, but it was the biggest surprise of the bunch</h2><div type="image" title="cup of wendy's coffee sitting on a window ledge" height="3024" width="4032" msid="91356720" hostid="261"></div><a href="https://www.insider.com/eating-all-of-the-burgers-on-wendys-menu-review-photos">Wendy's</a> describes its coffee as a <a href="https://order.wendys.com/product/30047/fresh-brewed-coffee">medium roast</a>, but it tasted more like a light roast to me. It's pretty bitter, which I didn't think was a bad thing — it worked with the overall flavor.Temperature-wise, it was hot. I wound up running an errand before it cooled enough to drink, but once it did, it was delightful.It had very little acidity, which made it easier to drink. Although the flavor profile was more bitter than sweet, it had soft floral and herbal notes on the nose and tongue.I ended up trying the same order at three different Wendy's. At one location, the extraction level was weak, at another, it was well-steeped and flavorful.Even with this slight mark against it, I'd order this again — and not just if it was the only option. <h2>Overall, McDonald's had my favorite cup</h2><div type="image" title="dylan holding a cup of mcdonalds coffee" height="2316" width="3088" msid="91356721" hostid="261"></div>The best part of this whole experience was being able to <a href="https://www.foodandwine.com/news/john-mulaney-mcdonalds-joke-meme">recreate one of my favorite John Mulaney bits</a> by going through the McDonald's drive-thru and ordering "one black coffee."But the coffee wasn't bad either. <a href="https://www.insider.com/trying-all-mcdonalds-breakfast-sandwiches-reviewed-photos-2022-1">McDonald's</a>, and its McCafé line, is probably the fast-food chain with the most coffee cred. Its coffee had a deep-chocolate nose and was on the sweet end of the sweet/bitter spectrum. The blend had very low acidity and was well-extracted.Out of the four coffees I tried, this had the best mouthfeel.<a href="https://www.insider.com/every-mcdonalds-menu-item-eaten-ranked-2020-2">McDonald's</a> coffee is famously hot — there was even <a href="https://www.tortmuseum.org/liebeck-v-mcdonalds/">a lawsuit in the 1990s</a> involving the safety of its temperature. But that worked well for me since it was about 20 degrees Fahrenheit outside when I ordered it. By the time I got home, it was perfect.I'd happily order this again.

Of the 650 new positions for both freshers and lateral hires, 350 will be towards expanding the engineering and product teams, and the rest will form the customer experience, sales and marketing forces, the company said in a statement. The company which currently has 1,300 employees hired over 550 <keyword id="10750931" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="people-last-year">people last year</keyword> and witnessed a three times business growth in the pandemic-hit year. We might be a few months too late but we congratulate Tesla CEO <keyword id="19903807" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Elon-Musk" source="keywords">Elon Musk</keyword> on the birth of his 12th child; our felicitations extend to Neuralink executive <keyword id="22138173" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shivon-zilis" source="keywords">Shivon Zilis</keyword> as well. It is no doubt a happy occasion for the parents, but when a person with as much street cred as Musk has his third child with one of his employees through IVF, we can hardly let the event slide without so much as wondering why the tech mogul keeps having children. Now, we do not want to go into the details of Mr Musk’s personal life or discuss his relationships with all the mothers of his children so far — Justine Wilson, Grimes and Zilis (we have a separate <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/thelife/personalities/news/elon-musks-12-kids-all-about-musks-dozen-kids-and-their-moms/articleshow/111280167.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">story</a> for that). But we can’t help but be interested in what is driving the owner of X (formerly Twitter) to expand his family at this rate given how committed he seemed to support climate action. Before you come at us with pitchforks for being child-haters, we’re merely stating what studies have already shown: having kids is possibly among the greatest contributors to a person’s carbon footprint. Though the extent of impact has been debated in the scientific community, no one can deny that there is a substantial burden on the planet’s finite resources as the population spikes further. Mr Musk has fathered a dozen children already. And there’s no telling when baby No. 13 would make an appearance. But we do suspect that the entrepreneur thinks his heart is in the right place. The focus was on how her eponymous fashion label could boost its sustainability cred."There was this moment where I realized that I had to actually say, 'We really want to be a 100% sustainable company,'" she told Business Insider. But because she knew that wasn't possible, she hesitated, even as her staff grew more excited. "They were all saying, 'Let's do it. Let's make it the goal.'" Fisher, 73, said she pushed aside her initial doubts and agreed they had to try.To date, the company says more than 80% of its raw materials meet third-party sustainability criteria, and some 70% of materials are processed using what is calls "safer chemistry."Fisher knows that producing clothing to be sold across 57 company stores in North America and at high-end department stores will have some environmental cost. But she credits the audacious goal with remaking the label she started in 1984 with a handful of garments and $350 left in her bank account — injecting sustainability into areas like production and design.The sustainability pledge "really changed the company," she said. "Not just my voice, but that idea that we made a commitment."<h2>Simple yet sustainable</h2>Eileen Fisher's clothes have long been known for their simplicity — simple cuts, toned-down colors. Some of her earliest designs drew from the timeless shape of the kimono, a silhouette she got to know while spending time in Japan early in her career.Fisher said while the company's apparel can't get much simpler, many aspects of its business can.That includes how the company handles its inventory and communicates with customers about how to mix and match its clothes — what the company calls its "system of dressing."Five years ago, the label was using 1,000 types of fabric; now that's down to about 200, Fisher said, adding that they're the ones the designers love and that meet sustainability criteria.The brand gives shoppers $5 gift cards for <a target="_blank" href="https://www.eileenfisherrenew.com/">returning unwanted Eileen Fisher clothes</a>. Some of those clothes can then be made into new products. Since 2009, more than 1 million items have been resold, donated, or remade, according to the company. The take-back effort helped Fisher and her designers better understand how to make clothes that can more easily have a second life. The simpler the clothes are, "the easier they are to work with or to remake into other things," she said.Fisher and her company's CEO, Lisa Williams, whom Fisher brought on from Patagonia in 2022, also want their customers to buy fewer clothes. Fisher acknowledged the position is a tough one for a leader of a clothing brand to maintain."I look at the sales every week," she said. "I want to know how are these products being received — what are they liking."Getting customers to be more selective might mean helping them understand the dozen foundational pieces of the season or the year and how to mix and match them, almost like Lego pieces, she said.<h2>Educating consumers</h2>Fisher sees making her brand simpler and more sustainable as an almost endless journey. Years ago she realized that using natural fibers wasn't good enough. Cotton production requires massive amounts of water. Then there are the dyes, which carry their own environmental cost. She said the company had worked "fabric by fabric" to make its materials more sustainable. It's working to move its organic cotton and wool toward <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nrdc.org/stories/regenerative-agriculture-101">"regenerative" agriculture</a>, designed to boost soil health.Moving to regenerative production, which can have environmental benefits, also means the clothes can cost more, a point Fisher acknowledged. "They're pricier. It's true."Eileen Fisher has also signed onto efforts aimed at cleaning up the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.thefashionact.org/">fashion industry's dirty supply chains</a> and more than two decades ago hired a head of social consciousness, whose job includes focusing on the company's sustainability efforts.The closely held company, which has gone on to become a B Corp and to sell a minority stake to its employees, had $267 million in sales last year. These younger fans are a couple generations behind the women who make up the company's primary customers."Sometimes you don't know why.
