Explained: With markets volatile, should senior citizens invest in PSU bank FDs?

When thinking of safe savings, most of us always home in on fixed deposits (<keyword id="6568461" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="FDs">FDs</keyword>) offered by banks. And rightly so, because such FDs have many advantages, such as: interest rates ranging from 8.5% to 9.5%, tax savings, and the facility of premature withdrawal, if required. But have you ever considered <keyword id="603034" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="corporate-FDs">corporate FDs</keyword>, which offer higher returns? 
 
Recently, some Indian banks reduced the interest rates on deposits by 0.25%–0.75%, which has made corporate FDs even more lucrative. 
 
What exactly are Corporate FDs? 
 Corporate FDs, or non-convertible debentures (NCDs), are similar to bank FDs except that they are offered by corporates and not financial institutions or banks. Corporate FDs are, basically, fundraising exercises through which a corporation raises <keyword id="6354840" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="money">money</keyword> for running its business. Here, the investor’s (your) money is used for repaying existing loans, expanding businesses, optimizing business plans, and other similar activities. Some of the popular corporate offering FDs come from Mahindra <keyword id="25455" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="finance">Finance</keyword>, Gati, DHFL, PNB Housing and Bajaj Finance. 
 
What’s good about Corporate FDs 
The first question on your mind must be: what makes corporate FDs better than regular FDs? And the answer to the same lies in the points below. 
 
· Rate of interest: Corporate FDs offer higher interest rates than those of a bank, in the range 9%–13%. Some companies offer even higher interest rates to senior citizens. 
 
· Credit ratings: Corporate FDs are rated by independent rating agencies, such as CRISIL, ICRA and CARE, which assess the credit worthiness of the issuing companies. On the other hand, credit ratings are not applicable in the case of bank FDs. 
 
· Interest payments: Investors can choose the frequency of interest payments: monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annually, or on a cumulative basis. This option offers investors with an additional source of income. 
 
Not all is hunky dory about Corporate FDs 
Before you take a plunge in Corporate FDs market, you should measure its pros against the below-mentioned cons. 
 
· FD term: Banks offer multiple term options for investing, starting from 30 days. On the other hand, the typical time frame of a corporate FD ranges from 1 year to 8 years. 
 
· Withdrawals: Bank FDs are easy to withdraw, whereas withdrawing from a corporate FD can take up to a few weeks. 
 
· FD <keyword id="35450" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="insurance">insurance</keyword>: RBI’s Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) insures bank deposits of up to Rs 1 lakh. The same cannot be said though for the Corporate FDs. 
 
· Risk Quotient: Corporate FDs come with higher risk as they are unsecured. If a company defaults, the investor stands to lose significant amount of the invested money. To minimize risk, it is advisable to invest in companies with high credit ratings. 
 
Make a note of, when investing … 
 Before investing in a corporate FD, one of the good initial filters is checking the company’s <keyword id="142429" type="EVENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Credit-Rating">credit rating</keyword> and the corresponding rating agency. The investor can check the company’s track record in dealing with investors and depositors. Hence, credit ratings and investor goodwill should be the key deciding factors. 
 
Go for the Corporate FD if you: 
 
- are comfortable with lower or no liquidity 
- have seen the credit ratings and are comfortable with the sector and the brand (company) 
- are seeking returns higher than bank FDs

Public Provident Fund The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is a government-backed long-term savings scheme offering tax benefits under Section 80C. It allows contributions up to ₹1.5 lakh annually, making the invested amount tax-deductible. Investing in PPF provides a secure avenue for long-term savings, with a fixed tenure of 15 years and the option to extend in blocks of 5 years. It offers a 7.1% rate compounded annually. The risks associated with PPF are notably low due to its government backing, ensuring safety and stability. However, the lock-in period of 15 years and limited liquidity might pose constraints for individuals seeking shorter-term investment options. National Pension Scheme The National Pension System (NPS) is a voluntary retirement savings scheme offering tax benefits of up to ₹1.5 lakh under Section 80C and an additional ₹50,000 under Section 80CCD (1B), providing substantial tax savings. Investing in NPS is ideal for retirement planning, offering a choice of investment options across equities, corporate bonds, and government securities. Its unique feature includes two accounts: Tier I (non-withdrawable till retirement) and Tier II(withdrawable at any time). Investors opt for 5-year FDs due to their stability and assured returns, making them suitable for those seeking low-risk investment options. However, these FDs may have lower returns compared to market-linked instruments like equity-based investments. Additionally, the lock-in period of 5 years limits liquidity and flexibility. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a government-backed savings scheme designed for the financial security of the girl child. It offers tax benefits under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, allowing contributions up to ₹1.5 lakh annually to be tax-deductible. Investing in SSY provides a dual advantage of tax savings and creating a corpus for a girl child's future expenses like education or marriage. The scheme offers an attractive interest rate(8.2%) and has a maturity period of 21 years from the date of account opening or until the girl child reaches 18, whichever is earlier. “For higher education purposes you can withdraw 50% of the amount deposited,” says Dasari. While at present, the interest of 211 days to less than one year is 5.75% at State Bank of India (SBI), small finance banks can give an interest of up to 6.50% for a period of less than one year. It is noteworthy that interest earned on FDs is taxed at slab rates. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Arbitrage funds" comment="Subhead" text="Arbitrage funds">Arbitrage funds</cmsannotation> Arbitrage funds operate on a unique investment strategy that capitalises on price discrepancies between cash and derivatives markets. They identify opportunities where the underlying securities are bought in the cash market while simultaneously selling equivalent futures or options contracts. The goal is to profit from the convergence of these prices over time. These funds are well-suited for investments with a horizon of less than one year due to their relatively low risk profile. Since they primarily engage in arbitrage opportunities, they are less exposed to market fluctuations and volatility, making them a stable choice for short-term investors. According to Value Research, arbitrage funds have given a category average return of 6.54% in the last one year. Arbitrage funds do not have a credit risk. “They are also tax efficient. For a short period of time the taxation of equities is 15% whereas in debt, individuals have to pay the tax as per their tax bracket where some individuals can pay up to 30% tax,” says Soumya Sarkar, Co-Founder, Wealth Redefine, a mutual fund distribution firm. Arbitrage funds are taxed similarly to equity funds. When held for less than a year, any gains are categorised as short-term capital gains (STCG), subject to a 15% tax rate and thus they are more tax efficient than FDs and debt funds. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Debt funds" comment="Subhead" text="Debt funds">Debt funds</cmsannotation> Low duration debt funds are a viable option for investments with a horizon of less than one year. They invest in a diversified portfolio of fixed-income securities such as government bonds, corporate bonds, and money market instruments. These funds maintain a shorter average maturity period, between six months to twelve months (according to SEBI rules), which helps mitigate interest rate risks. They aim to provide investors with stable returns while preserving capital, making them suitable for those with a short investment horizon and a preference for lower risk. “Right now given where the yields are, one could look to get around 6.5% - 7.25% return on low duration funds. Obviously these returns are not guaranteed like a bank FD," says Deepak Gagrani, Founder of MADHUBAN FINVEST, a financial services firm. According to Value Research low duration debt funds have given a return of 6.53% in the last one year. One also needs to understand the tax aspect. “The taxation would be something very similar to a bank FD. It will be based on the tax slab,” says Gagrani. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Equity savings fund" comment="subhead" text="Equity savings fund"><keyword id="1554748" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-savings" source="Orion">Equity savings</keyword> fund</cmsannotation> <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/investment/news/benefits-of-equity-savings-fund-offered-returns-and-who-should-opt/articleshow/101210167.cms">Equity savings funds</a>, a hybrid investment option, allocate funds into equity, debt, and arbitrage segments to balance potential returns with risk management. “In equity savings funds the proportion of debt is quite high and equity proportion is low. It has 70-80% in debt and the remaining in equity, so it is a conservative fund,” says Sarkar. With lower volatility compared to pure equity funds, they mitigate market fluctuations, making them a favourable choice for those seeking balanced, relatively stable short-term investments. However, it's crucial to align investments with individual financial goals and risk tolerance for the best results. While the debt portion gives around 6%-7% return, the overall returns go up due to the equity portion. According to Value Research, equity savings funds have given a category average return of 9.14 % in the last one year. In the case of FDs, you can withdraw the funds on the day the FD matures, but in case of the mutual funds mentioned above, it may take one to three business days for the funds to be credited to your account after you submit a redemption request.

Active choice vs auto choice NPS offers two investment choices- auto choice and active choice. Auto choice is based on your age and the allocation within different asset classes will change as your age increases. Active choice is where you have the liberty to decide your allocation throughout the tenure of your investment. “The thought process here is that as your age increases, your ability to take risks reduces and hence the money from equity will move into non-equity options,” says Harshad Chetanwala, co-founder MyWealthGrowth.Com, an investment planning firm. “The auto choice could be good for someone who does not want to get into the hassles of changing and managing their allocation based on age, tenure and other criteria. Those who are clear with the kind of allocation they need can go for active choice. Active has the benefit over auto as you are in better control of your allocation when you see from an overall portfolio perspective,” says Chetanwala. Agrees Rahul Jain, president and head, Nuvama Wealth, “Knowledgeable and disciplined investors can select the active option and benefit from the flexibility of allocation. Those who are short on time or need help to keep up with the lifecycle change can choose the auto choice.” Lifecycle-based asset allocation Lifecycle-based allocation is available under auto choice. It adjusts the investment mix based on an individual's age. “It starts with a higher allocation to equities when young and gradually shifts towards debt instruments as retirement approaches. This strategy aligns with a person's changing risk appetite and aims to optimise returns while managing risk, providing individuals with a systematic approach to planning for retirement,” says Kothari. The investor can choose between three lifecycle funds: Aggressive Lifecycle Fund (LC75), Moderate Lifecycle Fund (LC50), and Conservative Lifecycle Fund (LC25). “Within each option, the equity allocation decreases by a specified percentage every year while the debt allocation increases,” says Jain. Let us take the example of LC75. Under this fund, the investor can get up to 75% allocation to equity till the age of 35 years. Beyond 35 years, the equity allocation decreases by 4% every year till 45 years, by 3% till 50 years and by 1% till 55 years. At the same time, allocation to government securities increases by 3% every year till 55 years. The rest gets allocated among the corporate bonds every year. Consider overall portfolio when deciding on NPS asset allocation “When considering NPS asset allocation along with other investments like mutual fund SIPs, Public Provident Fund (PPF), FDs, etc., it is crucial to assess the overall portfolio and align it with one's financial goals and risk tolerance. The asset allocation should be diversified across different investment avenues, taking into account the risk-return characteristics of each,” says Kothari. So far NPS is not a huge part of investors' overall portfolio and the same could remain even when their portfolio grows in future. “Hence, one should consider all the assets at the time of deciding on the asset allocation of NPS. If someone is already investing in PPF or Voluntary Provident Fund (VPF), then you are already accumulating debt for your retirement,” says Chetanwala. In such a case, going for a higher debt allocation may not be the best option. NPS asset allocation lets individuals strategically allocate their investments across various asset classes, offering the potential for returns and managing risk. With careful consideration of their financial goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon, one can create a well-balanced portfolio within NPS.

While strong performance is all but given, eyes are now on what lies ahead for Indian banks. Analysts caution that there could be a few uncertainties on the horizon. One of those concerns is already reflected in the share of CASA (current account and savings account) deposits of banks, which have hit a 7-year low of 11.7% as part of the overall deposits. According to data from the Reserve Bank of India, since FY14, the share of CASA in overall deposits was the highest in FY22 at 12.7%. It has seen a sharp decline of 106 basis points since then. <a href="https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/13360978/">https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/13360978/</a> CASA deposits are one of the cheapest sources of funds for banks, and a decline in these deposits means banks have to go for relatively more expensive alternatives. While interest rate on savings account deposits has remained in the range of 3%, a hike in interest rates by the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has made fixed deposits a better option – interest rate on fixed deposits has increased by an average of 100 basis points, with State Bank of India offering as much as 7% interest on FDs. Looking beyond the CASA fall: Margin pressures, risk of slowdown in loan growth Apart from the slowdown in CASA deposits, a likely increase in margin pressures and risks of a sharp slowdown in loan growth are some of the key factors to watch out for going forward, according to analysts. “We are probably closer to the peak on net interest margin for banks as the cost of funds is likely to move faster than lending yields,” said a report by Kotak Institutional Equities. Concerns of a looming economic slowdown could also lead to a slowdown in loan growth, and there are minor signs pointing at a moderation already. According to the latest data from the Reserve Bank of India, credit growth stood at 15.7% year-on-year in March 2023, down from the highs of 18% seen in October last year. This was primarily led by a slowdown in corporate loans, and “signs of some sluggishness in retail are also on the horizon due to rising interest rates”, said a report by Emkay Global. Expect healthy performance in a seasonally strong quarter The March quarter is considered a seasonally strong one for banks, and there is a broad analyst consensus that banks will post strong growth across key metrics like net interest income, net interest margins, credit growth and asset quality improvements. Analysts expect robust credit offtake, pegging the growth in loan book to be around 17%. Net interest margins are expected to remain steady as lenders continue to transmit repo rate hikes, offsetting the increase in deposit costs. “Healthy growth, steady margins and normalised credit cost is expected to keep earnings momentum unabated at 33.7% year-on-year ₹42,975 crore,” said a report by ICICI Direct. Analysts at Emkay Global have pencilled in a minor slow down on a sequential basis, but maintained that by and large, earnings growth is expected to remain healthy. While the overall scenario for Indian banks in Q4 looks optimistic and a repeat of Q3 is likely on the cards, especially post the business updates given by HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank, the focus is now on the future outlook and it will be one of the key things to watch out for heading into the Q4 earnings season. Strong Q4 on the cards, but concerns emerge on fall in CASA deposits and credit offtake slowdown

<ul><li>Budget amendment proposes to do away with long-term capital gains tax on debt investments. This effectively ends the tax arbitrage that used to exist between bank deposits and debt schemes. </li><li>Experts view this as a negative for <keyword id="6357979" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mutual-funds" source="Orion">mutual funds</keyword> as investors may move capital from debt schemes to bank FDs or other long-term instruments like non-convertible debentures. </li><li>According to CLSA, the measure would have a moderate to low impact on profitability, as bulk of the revenue/profitability for AMCs accrues from equity assets and non-liquid debt AUMs are neither higher growth nor higher profitability segments. </li></ul> It is going to be a busy weekend for mutual fund advisors and distributors, with the government proposing to change the taxation structure of debt schemes. With the change in taxation, distributors and advisors are rushing to lock in large amounts of investments from their HNI customers before the financial year ends. As per the proposed changes in the Finance Bill, investors in debt funds will have to pay tax according to their income slabs. Investors have so far benefited from indexation while calculating long-term capital gains from debt funds but this will now longer be available from 1 April, 2023. However, all investments made before 31 March 2023 will continue to enjoy indexation and LTCG benefits. According to FY24’s Budget amendment, capital gains arising from any investments made after 1 April, 2023, in non-equity mutual fund schemes will not be eligible for long-term capital gains benefits. Mutual fund distributors have been spamming their HNI clientele all morning about these proposed changes so that they can lock in their investments before the new fiscal year to take advantage of the indexation benefits. P Hingar, founder at Fintoo, “This move may have a negative impact on all debt funds…We may see a shift from long-term debt funds to equity funds, and money may be directed towards sovereign gold bonds, bank fixed deposits, and non-convertible debentures in the debt category. This is good news for banks as they can attract customers with higher interest rates and increase their borrowing and saving book sizes.” Fund houses are screaming blue murder, especially the non-bank backed ones, as the amendment has come as a complete surprise. Few fund houses wanted to go on record to speak on the subject, as they feel it is a negative for the bond funds. The government is seeking to do away with the tax arbitrage that currently existed between debt funds and bank deposits. So far interest income from bank deposits have been taxed at slab rates, while investments in debt funds of a duration of over 36 months have been taxed at a long-term capital gains tax rate of 20% with indexation benefits. Indexation is nothing but a methodology that helps reduce tax burden by adjusting for inflation. Now this option will no longer be available to debt investors. Mutual funds are an unhappy lot as this takes away the added benefit that investors of debt schemes had over bank deposits. Srikanth Subramanian, CEO, Kotak Cherry said, "The amendment in the finance bill will have significant structural changes to the way we invest. For mutual funds to get investor interest, it’ll now have to purely be on their ability to add extra ‘risk adjusted returns’ and not because of any tax arbitrage.” The advantage of paying lower tax on a debt instrument like mutual fund will no longer be available to investors or savers. The playing field is now more even, believe experts. However this will benefit the corporate bond market where there will be renewed interest from retail investors, and this will also add depth to the liquidity which again will mean better pricing for the end customer, explains Subramanian. Analysts believe that this is negative for mutual funds, as debt schemes (barring liquid) contribute to 19% of AUMs and anywhere up to 14% of revenues. According to CLSA, the measure would have a moderate to low impact on profitability, as bulk of the revenue/profitability for AMCs accrues from equity assets and non-liquid debt AUMs are neither higher growth nor higher profitability segments. The measure will also not impact liquid MFs of ₹6.6 trillion materially, as they are short-term products and there is no material change in tax attractiveness. For life insurers, there appears to be no change in the taxation structure in the budget. An unintended impact of this could be felt by non-banking financial institutions that rely on mutual funds for some of their funding requirements. With flows into debt schemes slowing after this move, NBFCs may have to rely more on bank funding than mutual funds.

The returns in such funds are usually not affected by fluctuations in the market, hence they are considered to be low-risk investment options. All these debt funds can be used to park funds for the short-term as the maximum maturity of the underlying securities in them is not more than 12 months. Currently, debt fund returns give at maximum 5-6% returns. Recurring deposits Unlike fixed deposits wherein a lump sum investment is required at once, recurring deposit (RD) allows you to make monthly deposits. This gives you flexibility to invest money on a monthly basis. You can open a recurring deposit at your nearest bank, post office or even online. RDs start with a tenure of six months to 10 years. Usually, RDs offer the same returns as fixed deposits which is around 5-6%. The interest earned on the invested amount is taxed as per your income tax slab. National savings certificate (NSC) NSC is more of a tax-saving short term investment plan that you can open with any post office branch. The scheme is an initiative of the government of India and hence is relatively safer. These certificates earn an annual fixed interest of around 6.8% per annum (revised every quarter by the government), thus guaranteeing a regular income for the investor. The scheme has two types of certificates -- 5 year and 10 year. You can also avail tax benefits under Section 80C of the Income Tax (IT) Act. However, the interest income will be taxable. Post office time deposits Another short term plan is for post office time deposits, which have tenures of 1 year, 2 year, 3 year and 5 year. The interest rates in this scheme range from 5.50-6.70%. The scheme is also available for young people above the age of 10 years. Here, you will be able to avail the tax benefits under Section 80C of the IT Act, 1961. Fixed deposits Fixed deposits (FD) are another option for a short period of investment wherein you can put a lump sum amount in the bank for a fixed period of time. It is most suited for investors with idle corpus who want to invest in one of the safest options that provides guaranteed returns. Besides, it offers higher returns than your bank savings account. The tenure of investment can be 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, 45 days and up to 10 years. One can earn 5-5.5% returns from FDs. Again, the interest earned is taxed according to the income slab. Five investment options to make money in the short term

New Delhi, <keyword id="6360090" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-capital">Reliance Capital</keyword> (RCAP) debenture holders at their meeting held on January 5, passed the resolution with overwhelming majority for <keyword id="1187112" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="monetisation">monetisation</keyword> of its <keyword id="41933" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="assets">assets</keyword>. This comes on the back of shareholders having already approved RCAP monetisation. Reliance Capital had commenced its asset monetisation process - to unlock value of its underlying businesses which targets to make RCAP debt free. JM Financial Services Limited and SBI Capital Markets Limited ran an independent and transparent asset monetizsation process. Expression of interest for nine key assets was launched on October 31, 2020. EOI process received massive response for the nine key assets as multiple players have placed interest for each asset with some of them also expressing interest in all the assets. EOI applicants would now perform due diligence on each asset and submit binding bids for the nine key assets. Asset monetisation process is being run under the aegis of Committee of Debenture Holders and the Debenture Trustee Vistra ITCL India Ltd, which represents 93% of total outstanding debt of Reliance Capital. EOIs invited for all or part of RCL's stake in the following key subsidiaries and assets individually or in any combination thereof: 1. 100 per cent stake in <keyword id="157626" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-General-Insurance">Reliance General Insurance</keyword> Company Limited (RGI). Paid up capital of Reliance General Insurance is ₹252 crore as of September 30, 2020. It is the fifth largest Private General Insurance Company with a market share of 4.5% as of March 20 in the Private General Insurance category. Consistent growth in AUM Year-on-Year with investment book of ₹12,315 crore as on September 30, 2020. Performed its best even during Covid times with Gross Direct Premium Income of ₹4,501 crore during the first six months of FY20-21. Strong distribution network of 134 branches with amongst one of the largest agency force of 46,742 as of September 30, 2020 across the country. 2. 51% stake in Reliance Nippon Life Insurance Company Limited (RNLI). Paid up capital of Reliance Nippon LifeInsurance is ₹1,196 crore as of September 30, 2020. RNLI is a joint <keyword id="6388493" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="venture">Venture</keyword> with Japan's largest life insurer - Nippon Life which holds 49% shareholding. It is the 10th largest Private Sector Insurer (in terms of Individual WRP) and amongst largest Non-Banca company with a network of 717 offices. Witnessed sharp turnaround in performance during FY19-20 with a profit after tax of Rs 35 crore and 75 per cent growth (12% CAGR) in Embedded Value over last four years. Impressive claim settlement ratio of 98.1% in FY19-20 and a higher Solvency ratio of 207% (as against regulatory requirement of 150%). As on September 30, 2020, the AUM was ₹21,912 crore. and an Individual Premium Market Share of 2.20% amongst private insurers. 3. 100% stake in Reliance Securities Limited - Broking and distribution company offering services across asset classes including equities, commodities, derivatives, currency, mutual funds, bonds and corporate FDs. 4. 100% stake in Reliance Financial Limited - RBI registered NBFC, engaged in the business of financing, money lending, capital market linked financing activities. 5. 49% stake in Reliance Asset Reconstruction Limited:  Manages portfolio of ₹1,996 crore as on September 30, 2020. Over 3.3 lakh customers across retail and SME segment, with dominant retail presence in South and West region. 6. 20 per cent stake in Indian Commodity Exchange. Other key shareholders in ICEX are Central Warehousing Corporation, MMTC Limited, <keyword id="6363556" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="indiabulls">Indiabulls</keyword> Housing Finance Limited, Indian Potash Limited and Bajaj Holdings and Investments. Resolution of Lending businesses of RCAP - <keyword id="857313" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Home-Finance">Reliance Home Finance</keyword> and <keyword id="3646337" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Reliance-Commercial-Finance">Reliance Commercial Finance</keyword>. Reliance Home Finance (RHF) and Reliance Commercial Finance (RCF) are undergoing resolution under RBI circular dated June 7, 2019. Bank of Baroda is the lead banker under the ICA resolution process of both the lending entities. The transactions for both RCF and RHF are expected to be closed by March 31, 2021. Reliance Capital debenture holders pave the way for asset monetisation

New Delhi, Reliance Capital's (RCAP) expression of interest (EOI) for asset monetisation garnered mega response with 60 bids being received. <keyword id="13222" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword> Life and Apollo are among the 10 new bidders who have submitted expressions of interest for Reliance Capital's assets, taking the total number of bids to 60. December 1 was earlier the deadline for the submission of EOIs. Over 60 different bids have been received with SBI Capital Markets Limited and JM Financial Services Limited, the advisors to the lenders. Later the date for submitting the bids was extended to December 17. Over eight bidders have bid for entire RCAP assets on an as-is-where-is basis. The prominent among them are Oaktree, J.C. Flower and multiple ARCs. For Reliance General Insurance, which is owned 100% by RCAP, there are 18 bidders and prominent among them are, Chryscap, J.C. Flower, Blackstone, KKR, CVC Capital Partners, and Bain Capital. For Reliance Nippon Life Insurance, in which RCAP owns 51% controlling stake, has received 16 bids, including Bain Capital, NIIF, Arpwood Partners, Dabur Investments, Bandhan Bank, and <keyword id="884924" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Multiples-Asset-Management">Multiples Asset Management</keyword> among others. For Reliance Securities, there are eight bidders, including Bain Capital, Religare Broking, Edelweiss Securities and other ARCs. For Reliance ARC, there are six bidders, including Bain Capital, International Asset Reconstruction Company and other ARCs. For Reliance Health, there are eight bidders - Blackstone, Bain Capital, Arpwood Partners, and other ARCs. There are also multiple bidders for RCAP's stake in ICEX and Paytm E-commerce business.
