New Delhi [India], September 13 (ANI): The Central Board of Secondary Education (<keyword id="6356155" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse" source="Orion">CBSE</keyword>) on Wednesday issued an advisory for students and parents regarding the <keyword id="3416876" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="practice-papers" source="Orion">practice papers</keyword> it has released for all major subjects of Classes 10 and 12. The board in its notice has warned students and schools that these sample papers should be accessed from the official website - cbseacademic.nic.in - and need not be purchased from any private publisher. "As per NEP 2020 recommendations, the Board had initiated competency-focused education and assessment in its affiliated schools and has recently released practice papers in all major subjects of Classes X and XII," read the notice by CBSE. "These practice papers have been developed to facilitate the students in solving more application-based questions of higher-order thinking skills and enhance conceptual understanding of topics," it said "It has come to the notice of the board that schools and students are being asked to access the CBSE practice papers from certain private publishers sites. The public is advised not to be misled by any claims and promotions" the advisory read. The registration procedure for the board exams 2024 for private students began on September 12 on its official website - cbse.gov.in. Students can proceed with the registration after the release of the form. The deadline to submit the registration form is October 11 and students can submit the form till October 19 with a late of Rs 300 per subject. (ANI)

"I didn't want to go to work. My performance was terrible. No one cares about me. Send me 50 yuan for Crazy Thursday."The bizarre trend boasts over 3 billion views and 31 million posts on Weibo, China's version of X.McDonald's fans have their own entry in the Chinese zeitgeist — a make-believe pseudo-Christian religion called the "McMen," which sounds like "Amen" when said in Mandarin."Blessed are the McMen in Hangzhou," read one topic that went viral when McDonald's released new <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://s.weibo.com/weibo?q=%23%E6%9D%AD%E5%B7%9E%E7%9A%84%E9%BA%A6%E9%97%A8%E4%BF%A1%E5%BE%92%E6%9C%89%E7%A6%8F%E4%BA%86%23">Happy Meal toys in the province</a>.Such is the cult-like success of these two American fast-food brands in China, a market that's barely been touched by the luster of Arby's, Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out, Five Guys, and other US favorites.Both KFC and McDonald's have announced aggressive, ambitious expansions in China's post-COVID era, at a time when most Western-led firms have <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/china-economy-chinese-stock-market-foreign-investor-cash-flow-money-2023-12">lost faith in the country's stalling economy</a>. Key to their drive, experts say, is perceived opportunity in China's less-developed cities, where these brands' reputations precede them, rent is lower, and consumers are more optimistic."Sales are declining in Tier One and Tier Two cities because the market is too saturated," Shaun Rein, founder of consultancy China Market Research Group, told Business Insider. "But there's huge growth potential in the lower-tier cities."KFC or McDonald's might be considered America's cheapest food options. But in China's less affluent hubs, they're a premium pick that both chains think these cities are ready for."What's happened is that somebody in an eighth-tier city is looking at KFC as an aspirational purchase," Rein said. Some analysts, like Allison Malmsten from Daxue Consulting, point to indicators like cheaper housing — seen by many young Chinese as an essential purchase."The housing market is a major determinant of consumer confidence in China," Malmsten, a strategy consultant, told BI.Securing that crowd would be a major boost for brands like <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/kfc-parent-yum-reports-surprise-drop-global-same-store-sales-weak-demand-2024-05-01/">KFC</a> and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/30/mcdonalds-same-store-sales-fall-worldwide-for-first-time-since-2020">McDonald's</a>. That's something that's needed in the weak economy," said Rein.

A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and M R Shah dismissed the petition filed by NGO 'Social Jurist' against the September 28 order of the Delhi High Court. The <keyword id="6354977" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> on Monday told the Centre to give reasons if the government is departing from the decision taken last year, amid the Covid pandemic, in connection with the <keyword id="4571860" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="class-XII-board-exams">class XII board exams</keyword>. The top court suggested that the policy adopted last year can also be adopted this year. Attorney General (AG) <keyword id="349004" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="K-K-Venugopal">K.K. Venugopal</keyword>, representing the Centre, urged the top court to give him time till Wednesday to come back with a decision on cancelling of class <keyword id="155806" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="XII">XII</keyword> <keyword id="32862" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="board-exams">board exams</keyword> due to the pandemic. A bench comprising Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and <keyword id="1553728" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dinesh-Maheshwari">Dinesh Maheshwari</keyword> told the AG, "you take a decision, but if you are departing from the decision taken last year in connection with the exams, then you must give us good reasons." "No issue. You take the decision. You are entitled to it. If you are departing from the policy of last year, then you must give tangible reasons for it," the bench told Venugopal. The bench emphasized that the policy which was adopted previous year can be adopted this year too and reiterated that if Centre is departing from the notification issued earlier then it should have good tangible reason. The AG replied that a meeting has been called to take a decision on the issue. The bench responded, "Take whatever decision that's appropriate but what has been expressed by the petitioner is that last year's policy should be followed." The bench further queried the AG, a notification was issued last year, why can it not be continued this year? After a brief hearing in the matter, the top court adjourned the case to Thursday. The petition filed by advocate Mamta Sharma urged the top court to issue directions to the boards to cancel the Class XII examinations, instead devise an objective methodology to declare the result within a specific time-frame. "The Covid-19 situation is more severe in comparison to last year and require the respondents to adopt the same criteria of assessing the grading/marks of class XII students as done in the last year", said the plea. The plea contended that notifications issued by CBSE and ICSE deferring the exams to an unspecified date should be quashed, adding that students cannot be subjected to suffer uncertainty amid unprecedented public health crisis. The plea contended that it is a fit case wherein the top court may exercise its power under Article 142 of the Constitution to direct the respondents to implement the same methodology, which is being adopted for class X to declare the result and cancel the examination for Class XII. Last year, amid the pandemic the top court had asked boards to determine and declare Class 12 exam results on the basis of earlier assessment of students.
