<ul><li><strong>None of the companies met all the Climate Action 100+ Climate Accounting and Audit Assessment (<keyword id="3801965" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="caaa" source="Orion">CAAA</keyword>) methodology metric requirements. </strong></li><li><strong>Only eight, or six %, received "Partial" scores by providing all the information required by the CAAA methodology. </strong></li><li><strong>Research was performed in collaboration with the <keyword id="15174873" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="climate-accounting-and-audit-project" source="Orion">Climate Accounting and Audit Project</keyword>.</strong></li></ul> <br />Of the 134 multinational companies responsible for up to 80 % of corporate industrial greenhouse gas emissions, 98 % did not provide sufficient evidence about the impacts of climate-related matters.<br /><br />This is one of the findings of a new report of 'Still Flying Blind -- The Absence of Climate Risk in Financial Reporting' released by the <keyword id="4820833" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="carbon-tracker-initiative" source="Orion">Carbon Tracker Initiative</keyword> on Thursday.<br /><br />The companies surveyed included those from the fossil fuel, mining, manufacturing, automotive and technology sector that are focus companies for the investor-led Climate Action 100+ engagement.<br /><br />The lack of information available to investors is underscored by the fact that none of the companies met all the Climate Action 100+ Climate Accounting and Audit Assessment (CAAA) methodology metric requirements, which includes the analysis of company financial statements.<br /><br />Indeed, only eight, or six %, received "Partial" scores by providing all the information required by the CAAA methodology for at least one of the seven metrics used to assess them.<br /><br />The remaining 126 companies and their auditors did not meet any of the requirements.<br /><br /><keyword id="15174872" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="barbara-davidson" source="Orion">Barbara Davidson</keyword>, Carbon Tracker's Head of Accounting, Audit and Disclosure and lead author, told IANS: "Even after adjusting for changes in the methodology since last year and despite some improvements in disclosure, no CA100+ focus company provided all of the information required by the relevant standards or requested by investors.<br /><br />"This is despite the fact that most companies operate across a range of high emitting sectors including oil and gas, mining, transportation and industrials."<br /><br />"Many asset and liability values rely on forward-looking assumptions. When companies don't take climate-related matters into account, their financial statements may include overstated assets, understated liabilities and overstated profits."<br /><br />When available, analysts also reviewed audit committee (or equivalent) reports, finding that they often do not mention climate risks. Even when they do, most audit committees fail to consider the impacts of climate-related issues on company financial statements suggesting that audit committees are not providing sufficient oversight on these matters.<br /><br />Research was performed in collaboration with the Climate Accounting and Audit Project.<br /><br />Researchers also assessed the related external audit reports. Big emitters not acknowledging climate risks: Carbon Tracker

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Matt Bellassai, a BuzzFeed employee who has made a name for himself as a Facebook video star, just got signed to CAA,&#xa0;a big Hollywood talent agency.<p><a href="http://variety.com/2016/digital/news/matt-bellassai-buzzfeed-whine-about-it-caa-1201688864/">Variety broke the news</a>&#xa0;Tuesday, which Bellassai then <a href="https://twitter.com/MattBellassai/status/692000829331603456">confirmed on Twitter</a>.&#xa0;</p><p>Bellassai is perhaps best known for his BuzzFeed video series, which is published on Facebook and YouTube.</p><p>It's called "Whine About It," and it consists of Bellassai getting drunk in BuzzFeed's offices (or in other locations - recently, he filmed one installment in Los Angeles) and&#xa0;talking about everything from the worst kinds of people on airplanes to why Christmas as an adult isn't fun.</p><p>Bellassai, who has <a href="https://www.facebook.com/whineaboutitofficial">1.5 million Facebook fans</a>&#xa0;and whose videos get&#xa0;<span>3.5 million weekly views mostly on Facebook, will be working with CAA on projects that could include a podcast, TV shows, a live comedy tour, and even a book of essays.</span></p><p><span>He will be ending his BuzzFeed series to focus on&#xa0;his new solo projects. BuzzFeed will retain control of his Facebook page after the last episode of "Whine About It" airs this week. Bellassai, 25, has worked for BuzzFeed for the past three years as a producer and writer.</span></p><p><span>At the 2016 People's Choice Awards, Bellassai was voted&#xa0;<span>"favorite social-media star."</span></span></p><p><span></span>"I'm an Internet comedian," Bellassai told Variety.&#xa0;"I'd describe what I do as getting drunk on the Internet."</p><p>As for his signature drunk videos, Bellassai says on Twitter that they won't be stopping any time soon.
