In an abrupt move, <keyword id="237838" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="arjun-mohan" source="Orion">Arjun Mohan</keyword>, who was elevated as the embattled edtech firm Byju <keyword id="5645" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ceo" source="Orion">CEO</keyword> just about seven months back, has quit to pursue other opportunities, the company confirmed on Monday. The company's Co-founder and CEO <keyword id="1702989" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="byju-raveendran" source="Orion">Byju Raveendran</keyword> will take a more hands-on approach in spearheading the daily operations of the company after Mohan's resignation, who will be part of the edtech firm in an "external advisory role". The move is aimed at streamlining the operations and positioning the company for "long-term success". "Mohan has done an outstanding job steering Biju's through a challenging period. We are grateful for his leadership and look forward to his continued contributions as a strategic advisor," Raveendran said. The company has now decided to consolidate its business into three "focused" divisions -- The Learning App, Online Classes &amp; Tuition Centres, and Test-prep. Each of these <keyword id="54698" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="units" source="Orion">units</keyword> will have separate leaders who will independently run the businesses sustainably to ensure profitability, said the company. UBS Group AG, part of <keyword id="349466" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="UBS-Asset-Management">UBS Asset Management</keyword>, will invest a total of around $300 million in Byju's, people familiar with the deal told IANS. The leading ed-tech company recently raised nearly $1 billion as part of its 'Series F' funding that included Baron Funds and Facebook cofounder Eduardo Saverin's <keyword id="3472137" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="B-Capital-Group">B Capital Group</keyword>. The latest fund-raising came after Byju's announced to acquire Aakash Educational <keyword id="266374" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Services-Ltd">Services Ltd</keyword> (AESL) through a strategic merger. The deal size is also pegged at close to $1 billion. In September last year, Byju's raised $500 million (approximately ₹3,689 crore) in a funding round led by global technology investment firm Silver Lake. It will also engage younger children with video-based tutorials. In a first, the US conglomerate is partnering with a learning platform, which will be unique to India. Previously, the company collaborated with clothing brands and consumer product makers. The move will accelerate the unicorn’s expansion into global markets like US, UK and Australia. According to the report, the edtech company has a revenue-sharing agreement with Disney — which could range between 10%-15%. The startup <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/internet/byjus-claims-to-have-tripled-its-revenues-to-rs-1430-crore-in-fy19/69583803">reported</a> that its revenue has tripled to reach ₹14.3 billion in the financial year ending March 2019, though it has not shared the net profit numbers. However, these swollen revenues come at the back of increase in its paid user base, which now stands at 2.4 million. This number has doubled from last year, when it stood at 1.26 million in June 2018. The ability of this online tutorial startup to capture paying public, enabled its entry into the super exclusive profiteers club. “The growth in revenue was fuelled by deeper penetration across India and significant growth in the number of paid subscribers,” said the <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/byju-s-turns-profitable-in-8-years-gears-up-to-enter-us-in-a-big-way-119053100043_1.html">company</a>’s statement. Byju's turns profitable as millions pay for its classes

New Delhi, Mar 11 () In view of the coronavirus scare, edu-tech major BYJU'S on Wednesday said it will provide free access to its complete app to school students till April.The announcement comes following advisory for schools to remain closed to safeguard the health of students. Students across classes 1-12 can download and access BYJU'S learning programs for free until the end of April, BYJU'S said in a statement.Students in classes 1-3 can access Maths and English lessons and students in classes 4-12 can learn Maths and Science concepts on the BYJU'S app. They can download BYJU'S-The Learning App and Disney BYJU'S Early Learn for free from the Play Store and gain access to the entire library of BYJU'S educational content, the statement said. Students with the pre-installed app (free version) will need to update it in order to access the complete learning content for free.Citing an UNESCO report, BYJU'S said education of over 290 million students across 13 countries will be interrupted because of the COVID-19 crisis.
