New Delhi, Jan 27 () The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of Bhushan Steel's former chief financial officer Nittin Johari, who was arrested by the SFIO for alleged fraudulent activities.
 The verdict by Justice Brijesh Sethi came after the Supreme Court set aside the bail granted to Johari by the high court in August last year and asked it to hear the matter afresh.
 The details of the high court's decision to reject his bail plea would be available when the judgement is uploaded on its website.
 The apex court's order had come on an appeal by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) challenging the August 14, 2019 order of the high court.
 Johari was arrested by SFIO on May 2, 2019 for alleged fraudulent activities, including filing false documents with various banks.
 SFIO had said Johari was managing the affairs of Bhushan Steel and was looking after raising of funds from banks and financial institutions and was also one of the signatories to the financial statements of the company till fiscal year 2016-17.
 SFIO had said that during the probe it found there were several alleged fraudulent practices at the company, including manipulations of accounts and financial statements during the term of Johari.
 In its order, the high court had said that it became evident that the "mind and will of the accused company are the main accused -- Brij Bhushan Singal and Neeraj Singal, who had been actually controlling the company".
 The high court had observed that it is a matter of record that main accused Brij Bhushan Singal has not been arrested and co-accused Neeraj Singal has already been granted bail.
 SFIO had claimed that Johari was a member of the committee of board of directors on borrowing, investment and loans along with former promoters Brij Bhushan Singal and Neeraj Singal. HMP SMN

"As I got love from my fellow Indians, my village and my family members, I guess I would get some courage to make this wound heal. Maybe, I could return to wrestling," said the 29-year-old Vinesh. Targeting the BJP, he also said these people are not more powerful than the Constitution. The police got involved, the courts got involved, and the government too stepped in, as the residents of the national capital got impatient with the protests that hindered vehicular movements in the heart of Delhi. To those who have been documenting her life and career, Vinesh Phogat deserves more than just a bunch of superlatives. In recent years Phogat was fighting on two fronts: on the mat and off it. Her battles off the mat were in fact, more challenging than the ones she grew up handling in her village in Balali. Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Anurag Thakur on Monday announced the composition of the Oversight Committee which will also include the former CEO of Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Capt Rajagopalan and former SAI Executive Director (Teams) Radhika Sreeman. Murgunde is a member of the government's Mission Olympic Cell member. "As I had earlier announced, the Oversight Committee will not only handle the day-to-day functioning of the WFI but also inquire into the serious allegations made by the wrestlers and submit a report," Sports Minister Anurag Thakur told the media on Monday. Thakur had on Saturday announced the formation of the Oversight Committee to handle the day-to-day activities of the WFI after a group of wrestlers led by Olympians Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, Ravi Dhaiya and Deepak Punia sat on a protest at the Jantar Mantar here alleging many irregularities by WFI including mismanagement of governance and sexual harassment of women grapplers by coaches and the WFI president. At the same time, the government also suspended WFI assistant secretary <keyword id="2210825" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vinod-tomar" source="Orion">Vinod Tomar</keyword>. On Monday, Thakur informed that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been asked to cease functioning as WFI president till the inquiry by the Oversight Committee is completed and has been told not to interfere in the day-to-day functioning of the WFI. The Indian wrestlers had called off their protest late on Friday evening after a second meeting at Thakur's residence in the national capital. The meeting lasted beyond midnight, following which wrestler Bajrang Punia announced to the media that the other wrestlers are calling off the protest after assurance of action from Thakur against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
