It is going to be a close contest between the ruling <keyword id="41902" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="AIADMK">AIADMK</keyword> alliance and the opposition <keyword id="6357766" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="dmk">DMK</keyword> alliance in the 2021 assembly elections in <keyword id="20154" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="tamil-nadu">Tamil Nadu</keyword>, going by the early trends announced by the <keyword id="65281" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Election-Commission-of-India">Election Commission of India</keyword> on Sunday. According to the <keyword id="40807" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Election-Commission">Election Commission</keyword>, the ruling AIADMK is leading in 35 constituencies while its allies <keyword id="14666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> is leading in 3 and <keyword id="6360778" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="pmk">PMK</keyword> in 5 seats. On the other hand, the DMK is leading in 38 seats and its two left allies and VCK are leading in one seat each, while <keyword id="1575" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> is leading in 3 constituencies. The initial trends seem to be contrary to the various opinion surveys and exit polls that said DMK would sweep the elections in the state. Tamil Nadu polls: DMK leads in 38 seats while AIADMK leads in 35 constituencies

Kerala awaits the 2019 general elections for the Lok Sabha eagerly. The state has 20 parliamentary seats in total to send its representatives to the center. The Election Commission has announced that the polling in the state during 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will be held in a single phase on April 23, 2019. This date will see the 3rd phase of polling in the rest of India. Names of Constituencies in Kerala The names of the 20 constituencies in Kerala include Kasaragod, Kannur, Vadakara, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Ponnani, Palakkad, Alathur, Thrissur, Chalakudy, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Mavelikkara, Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Attingal, and Thiruvananthapuram. The present status of constituencies in Kerala State Neither the Congress party nor the BJP could win from Kerala during the 2014 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections. While these national parties could never get even a single seat from the state, the UDF holds 12 seats leaving LDF with 8 seats as of now. In 2009 elections, UDF had 16 seats and LDF had 4 seats. TDP head Chandrababu Naidu broke away from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as his state was not given special status. BJP also failed to forge another alliance in the state. Most polls believe that YSR Congress (YSR-C), headed by Jagan Reddy could be a net gainer as electorate is exasperated with BJP and TDP alike. Four exit polls predict that YSR-C will win over 15 seats, whereas TDP will be lucky to get 10. Only Today’s Chanakya believes that TDP will get 17 seats. Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is headed by K Chandrasekhara Rao, known as KCR, is expected to come back with a thumping majority. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was leading by 3,28,460 votes in Wayanad constituency over his nearest rival CPI's Annie Raja, as per Election Commission data. Congress sitting MP Shashi Tharoor took a lead over BJP's Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Thiruvananthapuram with 325896 votes and CPI's Pannian Raveendran in third spot, data by EC said. Congress' KC Venugopal was leading with 364811 votes against nearest rival AM Ariff of the CPI (M) while BJP's <keyword id="21418632" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sobha-surendran" source="keywords">Sobha Surendran</keyword> trailed in the third place. The polling in Kerala was held in single phase on April 26. The voter turnout was recorded at 71.27 per cent. Out of the total 2,77,49,158 voters in Kerala, a total of 1,97,77,478 exercised their franchise. In the 2019 General Elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP failed to open its account in the southern state. In its attempt to garner votes in Kerala, the BJP focussed on the Christian community in the state which accounts for 18.38 per cent of the total population. Meanwhile, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP crossed the majority mark in early leads and the INDIA bloc above 200, defying all exit poll predictions. The BJP is currently leading on 240 seats, as per the latest trends by the ECI. The Lok Sabha elections were held across the country in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. (ANI)

Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) president Thushar Vellapally is fielding from Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. He will be fighting against NDA to fight Rahul Gandhi who will be facing the elections from this constituency. As per the seat sharing pact between the NDA parties, BDJS will fight from five Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala. These seats will include Wayanad, Alathur, Idukki, Thrissur and Mavelikkara. If people decide to sit at home to avoid getting caught in any sort of violence, it may skew the results in favour of one party or the other. <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/elections/lok-sabha-elections-2019/kerala/news/violent-end-to-vibrant-poll-campaign/articleshow/68987461.cms">More than 30 people</a>, including a policeman, were injured at Thiruvalla where the activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) clashed on the last day of the campaign (April 21). That was only one of the many violent clashes that have caught headlines in the state that boasts of 94% literacy, according to the 2011 census. Sitaram Yechury, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), better known by its acronym CPI(M), said that the party had 13 workers in the last one year. Kerala’s first chief minister in 1957, EMS Namboodiripad, was one of the world’s first communist leaders to head an elected government. On the other hand, UDF led by Congress is trying to squeeze the BJP out by supporting the protests against the entry of women into the Sabarimala Temple. “Well, you cannot afford to write off the votes of the majority in times of political interest,” <a href="https://qz.com/india/1601119/election-2019-congresss-tharoor-battles-modis-bjp-in-kerala/">Congress leader Shashi Tharoor</a> fighting to defend the state capital Thriuvananthapuram told Quartz. The margin for error has shrunk significantly for Tharoor who swept the seat with 100,000 more votes than the second candidate in 2009. By 2014, it had shrunk to 14,000 and this time it is expected to be even tighter. Given that tensions are running high, voter turnout may become a deciding factor.
