The Prime Minister on Sunday reprimanded his party members for making inappropriate and inaccurate statements every time they see a camera. This slap on the wrist came a day after Union minister <keyword id="6344967" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="santosh-ganwar">Santosh Ganwar</keyword>’s controversial statement that “In a nation as big as India, one or two incidents of rape should not be hyped.” This comment was quick to draw criticism and he, in turn, blamed the media for ‘twist(ing)’ his statement. A day after this comment was made, the state’s Governor <keyword id="866788" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tathagata-Roy">Tathagata Roy</keyword> backed Biplab Deb’s theory by <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/governor-tathagata-roy-backs-biplabs-mahabharata-remark/articleshow/63823137.cms">saying</a>, “Tripura Chief Minister’s observations about the happenings of the Puranic period are topical. It is virtually impossible to conceive of devices like ‘Divya drishti’, Pushpaka Ratha’, etc without some kind of prototype and study thereon”. </li><li>Junior Education Minister Satyapal Singh rubbishes Darwin’s theory of evolution. Here’s what he had to <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/junior-education-minister-satyapal-singh-says-charles-darwin-wrong-nobody-saw-ape-turn-into-human-1802617">say</a>: "Darwin's theory (of evolution of humans) is scientifically wrong. It needs to change in school and college curriculum. Ever since humans came to Earth, they have always been humans." He went on to say, "Nobody, including our ancestors, have said or written that they ever saw an ape turning into a human being. No book we have read or the tales told to us by our grandparents had any such mention."</li><li>BJP leader S Ve Shekher shared a Facebook post titled “Madurai University, Governor and the Virgin Cheeks of a Girl.” This was in <a href="https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/s-ve-shekher-booked-fb-post-case-against-journos-who-pelted-stones-his-house-79991">response</a> to when the Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit inappropriately patted a woman journalist on the cheek. The rest of the post read: “I feel pity while looking at that woman journalist. She claims she was disturbed because the governor touched her. But when you read her tweets, it is understood that her intention was to target the Governor and Modi. It is actually the governor who has to wash his hands with Phenoyl after touching her.  Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb— who we earlier dubbed as the ‘king of bloopers’ once said that nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore rejected the Nobel Prize as a mark of protest against the British Empire.  In another major gaffe, the Tripura chief minister claimed that ducks can raise oxygen levels when they swim in water bodies. Yes, yes this is a scientific fact, but it still became news because of the bizarre comment. He said, “When ducks swim in water, oxygen level automatically increases in the waterbody. It (oxygen) gets recycled. Fish in the water will get more oxygen. They also benefit from bird droppings. Thus, pisciculture will benefit and fishes will grow faster, that too in a completely organic way,” reported NDTV.

The BJP Central Election Committee (CEC) held a crucial meeting on Thursday to discuss the upcoming <keyword id="20390792" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="haryana-assembly" source="keywords">Haryana Assembly</keyword> elections. During the meeting, which was chaired by <keyword id="19898052" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Minister-Narendra-Modi" source="keywords">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</keyword>, discussions were held on all 90 assembly seats in the state. Out of these, candidates for 55 seats have been finalised. He said the Jan Dhan Yojana has provided banking services to crores of people in the country. Biplab Kumar Deb of the BJP said the Economic Survey has estimated real GDP growth of 6.5 per cent to 7 per cent in 2024-25. He highlighted the provisions in the budget for various sections, including farmers and the education sector. Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee launched a strong attack on the Modi government, alleging that the Union Budget lacks clarity or vision, that it has been rolled out to satisfy the coalition partners of the BJP and that it "was planned by two individuals to keep another two in good faith." The budget session of Parliament began on July 22 and, according to schedule, will end on August 12.
