<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=maggi">Maggi</a> is fighting its battle and now <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ITC">ITC</a> may have to prove it too. Recently, Uttar Pradesh <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=food+and+drug+authority">Food and Drug Authority</a> (FDA) claimed that it had found excess lead in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Yippee+noodles">Yippee noodles</a> manufactured by ITC and will soon file a case. 
 
The state food authority stated that samples of Yippee noodles, seized from a local mall in Aligarh, had lead "far in excess to the permissible limit". 
 Today, <keyword id="121459" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="ITC-Ltd">ITC Ltd</keyword> denied receiving any notice on the same, adding that Sunfeast Yippee noodles were manufactured to the highest standards of safety, hygiene and quality. 
 
The company said it did not receive any communication from the UP government regarding presence of excess lead in its <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=instant+noodles">instant noodle</a> brand. 
 
“The company has not received any communication from the UP government authorities on this issue. Stories such as this can be misleading and can only help create suspicion and mistrust in the minds of the consumer. This will not only damage the brand but also severely impact industry as a whole and future investment for the economy," ITC said in a clarification to the BSE. 
 
ITC said the Yippee noodles and pasta were tested recently at NABL-accredited and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=FSSAI">FSSAI</a>-approved laboratories and it was found that all the samples conformed to the Food Safety Regulations. 
 
"We rigorously and regularly test our products for all parameters including heavy metals both in our in-house NABL accredited laboratory at the ITC Life Sciences and Technology Centre, Bengaluru and external NABL accredited and FSSAI approved laboratories," it added.

New Delhi, Jun 12 () Global hospitality major Marriott International on Friday said its home delivery service will now be available in more cities through an agreement with food aggregator Zomato. This association further expands and strengthens Marriott's home delivery service across India, while making it a mutually beneficial tool that allows outreach and exposure to thousands of customers using the platform, Marriott International said in a statement. The company's home delivery service, 'Marriott on Wheels', has also branched out into providing corporate outdoor catering services and Bento Box meals, it added. The partnership will start with close to 30 hotels in cities Bengaluru, Gurugram, Delhi, Pune, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Chennai, Kochi and Surat, Marriott International said. This facility will extend to additional cities, as more hotels join the service provider. Leveraging on the equity and outreach of Zomato, every meal delivery comes with the assurance of responsible and safe handling and packaging measures from start to finish with every order, it added. "Revolutionising the way food delivery works and elevating the service elements, we have partnered with an established brand like Zomato. This will help us provide seamless end-to-end solutions that involve quality, speed with all the necessary protocols followed," Marriott International South Asia Senior Vice-President Neeraj Govil said. There is a synergy of values between both brands and "we believe the partnership will take our food delivery service under the 'Marriott On Wheels' programme to the next level as we see the country opening up slowly", he added. Zomato will execute contactless delivery on all prepaid orders, the statement said. "We are happy to partner with Marriott International and feature 'Marriott on Wheels' on the Zomato app. As consumers look for new ways to indulge and celebrate special occasions in the 'new normal', we believe this partnership will be important in rendering premium food experiences," Zomato Food Delivery Chief Operating Officer Mohit Sardana said. There would also be a sanitisation station as well as a temperature-measuring station for Zomato delivery partners at all Marriott locations so that there is no lapse in food safety, the statement said. It’s been 15 years that <keyword id="6458290" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshaya-Patra-Foundation">Akshaya Patra Foundation</keyword> (<keyword id="700543" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="APF">APF</keyword>), headquartered in Bengaluru, has been serving afternoon meals to government school children, and in a few weeks, it will touch the glorious mark of its two billionth meal. 
 APF, the world's largest school lunch programme, was founded by IITian <keyword id="208800" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Madhu-Pandit-Dasa">Madhu Pandit Dasa</keyword>, who was conferred with the prestigious honour of Padma Shri last month. 
 
"I still remember the day when I took the first meal to a government school. The children loved it. I did not believe that we would go with the food the next day. But for 15 years now, we have been able to sustain," Dasa told TOI. Dasa wants to ensure that no child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger; because of his vision, this scheme has won many accolades for its transparency, hygiene and tech savvy delivery of cooked meals. 
 
"Growth has not been a challenge but sustainably growing is a challenge. Every time we start a kitchen, children come with a hope that they will get a good meal every day. Ensuring food safety especially at the school level which is the last mile and on a daily basis is a challenge. The road ahead is to implement innovative ideas in operations, fundraising and sourcing. We also would like to freely share our learnings with any organigation or an individual who wants to work on alleviating hunger amongst children," said APF CEO Shridhar Venkat. 
 
APF trustee T V Mohandas Pai told TOI: "I think the reason for our success has been how different competencies which are mutually inclusive and collectively exclusive have come together to fight hunger among children."

New Delhi, Apr 27 () Leading skin care brand Nivea India has partnered with online food aggregators Swiggy and Zomato to deliver its hygiene products at consumer's door steps during the lockdown.The service, which was initially started in Mumbai last week, has now been extended to over 30 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jaipur, Bhopal, Indore, Raipur, Kanpur, Nivea India said in a statement."The brand aims to scale this up to more than 100 cities in the coming week," it said."As a responsible skincare brand, this initiative reinforces our commitment to ensuring that our consumers have uninterrupted access to their daily hygiene essentials. In times of crisis, we stand together and work together to ensure safety of the consumers by delivering products safely &amp; directly to their doorsteps," Nivea India Sales Director Sailesh Viswanathan said.According to the company, consumers can place their orders for Nivea's essential hygiene products through Zomato or Swiggy app on their phones by going to 'Nivea Care Shop' under the market or groceries section.This would allow multiple cashless transaction options to get a safe and contactless delivery to their doorsteps in 60-90 minutes, it added.During the lockdown, several FMCG companies has partnered online aggregators to deliver their range of essential products at the consumer's door step. Nivea partners Swiggy, Zomato for delivery of hygiene products

New Delhi, April 5 () Government agri-research body ICAR is assessing the impact of COVID-19 lockdown on agriculture and allied sectors and taking measures to minimise its effect on the country's food security, a senior ICAR official said. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is the apex body for coordinating, guiding, and managing research and education in agriculture in the entire country under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. "ICAR is preparing documents on possible impact on agriculture and allied sectors and measures to minimise the negatives so that the food system remains unaffected," the official said. While the government has exempted many agricultural operations from harvesting to movement of produce to mandis from lockdown rules, the ICAR study will help the government take further action, the official added. The official said that ICAR has issued crop-specific advisories to farmers, asking them to take general precautions and safety measures during harvesting, post-harvest operations, storage and marketing of rabi crops. The government has imposed a 21-day countrywide lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. There are more than 3,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country at present. Meanwhile, the official said ICAR has offered all its guest houses located in different states for quarantine use. ICAR also said that its four institutes -- Bhopal-based National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bengaluru-based National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (NIVEDI), Izatnagar-based Indian Veterinary Research Institute and Hisar-based National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE) -- have required facility to do COVID-19 tests. ICAR further said its individual institutes are providing food and ensuring hygiene in nearby labourer colonies.
