A woman gave birth mid-flight and now her baby might have a lifetime of free flights

A video the baby girl had gone viral a few days back, and attracted the attention of the nation. Journalists Vinod Kapri and his wife Sakshi Joshi who watched the moving video, have appealed to the authorities to kickstart the process. The couple had travelled from Noida to Nagaur to enquire about the baby, and started the legal adoption process after they learnt that the baby’s health is improving. The six-day old baby is currently under medical supervision in Nagaur’s Jawaharlal Nehru Government hospital, after she was rescued. After battling for her life, the newborn is now stable. Generally, they advise having cooked food and incorporating certain herbs, such as cumin and turmeric, into the diet.<h2>I had support after birth</h2>If there's one thing that Indians thrive at, it's family support, particularly during the postpartum period.The custom of joint families living together in one house, or living with your in-laws when giving birth, makes so much sense after you have a child.Families go above and beyond to care for a new mother and her baby in every way possible: cooking for them, creating healing concoctions, bathing and massaging the mother and baby, and most of all, just being there for them through thick and thin.In India, it is generally recommended to <a href="https://www.timesnownews.com/health/since-ages-in-india-women-stay-at-home-for-40-days-after-childbirth-medical-experts-explain-why-article-90933520">stay at home</a> for the first six weeks following birth for a period of confinement and recuperation. It's also custom to make a powder with different kinds of nuts, tree bark, gums, and spices to help with milk production.My mother-in-law made me a smoothie every day with soaked almonds and other nuts, soaked black raisins, soaked figs, and other fruit to help with my milk production for breastfeeding. The mother, grandmother, and a <a href="https://maatriyoga.com/japa-maid.html">japa</a> — a woman hired by many families in India to care for the mother and baby during the 40 days following the birth — take the lead roles as carers for both the mother and baby.The japa massages the mother and baby every day with mustard oil, which is used to bring heat to the body. Mothers get massaged for 40 days to help the body recover, the belly to shrink, and the uterus to go back to its normal size. They also massage the baby every day to help with their growth, flexibility, and joints.The japa also helps out with all of the baby-related chores and even with feeding, if necessary. The support from family and having extra hands to help with my baby, cooking, and the household played a big role in aiding my postpartum recovery both physically and emotionally. It's also nice to just have some company around.

Majority of the employees are not happy with their current <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=salary+status+">salary status</a> as about 95% of them feel their salaries are not up to market standards, according to a survey. 
 
The survey conducted by JobBuzz, an employer rating platform powered by TimesJobs, revealed that only 5% of the respondents felt their salaries matched the market standard. 
 
Shivani Oberoi (name changed), a software developer, said: "Employees in other companies at same profile and level are drawing higher salaries than I which made me believe my value should be higher in the job market." 
 
Instead of leaving the job, Oberoi has decided to negotiate her salary with the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=employer">employer</a>. 
 
At a time when <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=India+Inc.+">India Inc.</a> is devising non-monetary benefits to engage and retain staff, it is interesting to know that salary still holds significance for employees. 
 
JobBuzz also highlighted the compensation and benefits expectations of three generations of the workforce – Baby Boomers (57%), Gen X (37%) and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Gen+Y">Gen Y</a> (41%) want more <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=in-hand+salary+">in-hand salary</a> but their preference for other benefits differ. 
 While 24% Baby Boomers prefer to have post retirement benefits, only 10% prefer health <keyword id="35450" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="insurance">insurance</keyword> benefits. Amongst Gen X, 29% prefer other benefits or perks (mostly flexible work options). A significant number of them (20%) also preferred post retirement benefits, said the survey. 
 
Contrary to popular perception, 22% of Gen Y opted for post-retirement benefits over other benefits or other perks. 
 "Employers should conduct internal salary benchmark studies to fine-tune their salary structures and compensation scales according to market standards. This will help them meet employee expectations and reduce attrition," advises <keyword id="225450" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Vivek-Madhukar">Vivek Madhukar</keyword>, TimesJobs.com COO. 
 
Moreover, the perception of not being compensated fairly is still a big cause for employees leaving companies. Any such perceptions, especially among high-performers, must be addressed and corrected by employers quickly.

For Generation Alpha, loosely defined as anyone born after 2010, these new definitions probably come to mind before the originals. Notably, Alpha kids will have never lived without smartphones - without the ability to transfer a thought online in just seconds.
These massive technological changes, among others, make Generation Alpha the most transformative generation ever, according to McCrindle.
"In the past, the individual had no power, really," he notes. "Now, the individual has great control of their lives through being able to leverage this world. Technology, in a sense, transformed the expectations of our interactions."
<h3>Coining "Generation Alpha"</h3>
Most demographers and social scientists stay busy pontificating about Generations Y and Z (also known as Zed). But McCrindle and his team looked to the future, wondering "What comes next?"

"Alpha" emerged and seemed like a natural fit, considering science disciplines, such as meteorology, often move to the Greek alphabet after exhausting the Roman alphabet or Arabic numerals.
<a href="http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/advertising/story/2012-05-03/naming-the-next-generation/54737518/1">While speculation still exists</a>, many have unofficially dubbed the group "Generation Alpha." McCrindle, for one, hopes it sticks.
Just about everyone under the age of 5 falls into the Alpha category. And it will encompass anyone born in the next 15 years, what McCrindle considers the usual span of a generation. Unlike previous generations, which have used technology, Alphas will spend the bulk of their formative years completely immersed in it.
"Even new technologies have been transformed," McCrindle says. "It's not just email - it's instant messaging. It's not just sharing a document online - it's a Prezzi or a YouTube video."
<h3>A Demographic Shift</h3>
Shifts in global population will also affect Generation Alpha's experience. For example, as early as 2028, India could surpass China as the most populous country in the world, according to <a href="http://esa.un.org/wpp/">United Nation's recent data</a>.
"Generational labeling has been a Western phenomenon," McCrindle says. Consider Baby Boomers, named for those born in the U.S. during the post-World War II "baby boom." And "teenager," a term coined in the mid-20th century.
Such labels are a much newer concept in developing countries, which may lag behind in both population and technology, creating less variety between generations. 
In Generation Alpha's time, however, "India and China will become the center of gravity," McCrindle notes. Countries who have experienced less development until recently will naturally experience a more pronounced generation gap with Alpha.
With better technology and more people to fuel its growth, children in these countries will trade some of their traditional, Eastern values for more tech-savvy and global ideas, McCrindle explains. 
<h3>The Biggest Leap Ever</h3>
This new climate of connectivity makes the leap from Gen Z to Alpha the largest in history, according to McCrindle - even bigger than than from Baby Boomers to Gen X, who experienced the invention of computers. 
For Baby Boomers, the newest computers were still mechanical and manual. They required effort and knowledge of programs to use. "But what we have with social media is a shift from the auditory and visual to the kinesthetic process," McCrindle explains. "The platform may stay the same, but it's gone from a computer with a keyboard to one with a touchscreen."
Alphas will also interact for the first time with these technologies at much younger ages than any other generation. Now, many teenagers don't wear watches because they use their cell phones for telling time, McCrindle notes. Imagine what Alphas will or won't wear or do because of their attachment to tech.
"They don't think about these technologies as tools," McCrindle says. "They integrate them singularly into their lives."
