The Lok Sabha elections 2024 are no different. <keyword id="19941423" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Independent-candidate" source="keywords">Independent candidate</keyword> from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, <keyword id="21244546" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pandit-Keshav-Dev" source="keywords">Pandit Keshav Dev</keyword>, decided to make the most of what the <keyword id="19895782" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Election-Commission" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Election Commission" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Election Commission">Election Commission</keyword> has allotted to him as the poll symbol- a pair of slippers. Aiming to build recall of people, Dev was seen sporting a garland of 7 slippers around his neck during his campaign. Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases beginning April 19. Uttar Pradesh, which sends the maximum number of MPs, 80, to Parliament, will vote in all seven phases. Voting for phases one and two will be held on April 19 and April 26. Next, the state will once again poll in phases three and four on May 7 and May 13. The Uttar Pradesh electorate will also vote in phases five, six and seven on May 20, May 23 and June 1 respectively. Aligarh will go for polls in the second phase on April 26. The counting of votes will take place on June 4. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Satish Kumar Gautam won from the Aligarh garnering 656215 votes. BJP defeated BSP Dr. Ajeet Baliyan who got 426954 votes. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 71 seats with a 42.6 per cent vote share, while Congress settled for only 2 seats with 7.5 per cent of votes. (ANI)

 The girl was reportedly raped, murdered and dumped in a dumping ground near her house in Tappal, Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh with her eyes gouged out. She was found later on June 2 after she went missing for three days. According to the report, mutilated body was discovered after a pack of stray dogs had been spotted carrying what appeared to be human body parts. The Bollywood celebrities are demanding "immediate and strictest punishment for the heinous crime".

A ₹10,000 loan ends in the murder of a 3-year old girl in India — and Bollywood has joined the national outrage

Passion exceeds everything and this was proved right by the students of the <keyword id="44216" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aligarh-Muslim-University">Aligarh Muslim University</keyword> (AMU) who overcame all odds and designed a racing car, which was even chosen for a premier racing event in the UK. 
 
The group of engineering students- also known as the SAE-ZHCET Collegiate Club- faced a lot of financial constraints as no one was ready to fund them. But, nothing deterred them to realize their dreams and despite lack of modern tools and technologies, they designed a racing car, which was built at a minimal amount. The group did not disclose the exact amount. 
 
Specifications 
 
 
 The racing car is one of a kind. It has a maximum speed of 120 Kmph and runs on a <keyword id="20630" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda">Honda</keyword> Cbr 250 cc engine that has been improved and totally customized using Bazzaz Engine Management System for better traction. 
 
The car is clutchless, which helps in improving lap timings. The cooling system, or the radiator, and exhaust system of the car has been completely designed and engineered by the team itself. 
 
The team also designed its own plenum for fuel combustion. The body of the car is made of carbon fibre, includes a tubular space-frame chassis, and has been made aerodynamic so as to reduce the drag forces on the vehicle. 
 
Fund crunch 
 
Areeb Mahmood, secretary of the club, said getting funds was the real issue. “Investors are skeptical before investing as the idea is not that viral in India yet. We are new and couldn’t get many sponsors. AMU did as much it could, like providing technical support as well as financial. But a racing car needs more than that.” 
 
Mahmood told the team faced many challenges during the international racing event in UK but the team came up with innovative ideas to get the problems solved. 
 
“We were facing financial issues when we decided to participate in the international event. After we were done with the car, we didn’t have much money left and we still had to take our car. So we traveled on our own money so as to cut down the expenses. We also dismantled the car and sent it to UK in pieces so as to save some money. Then we had to reassemble it there,” said Mahmood. 
 After a lot of struggle, the group was backed by Paytm, including AMU Alumni Associations of Jeddah, Qatar, Riyadh, Aaane, <keyword id="3807928" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="zhcet">ZHCET</keyword> Alumni Association. The group also attributes its success to Professor (Retd) Ziauddin, who played a crucial role in helping the team during the UK event. 
 
“We still have scope for improvement in the car but we can’t afford that right now. Getting good sponsorships in a small city has always been difficult but we are trying hard to get big names associated with us,” said Faizan Anwar, Vice-Chairman of the club. 
 
Efficycle 
 
 
 
Apart from the racing car, the group has also built an efficycle, a hybrid vehicle that operates on paddle as well as electric power. 
 
The efficycle model was ranked seventh in the All India event in Jalandhar and also won second prize in acceleration section of the efficycle event. 
 
Accolades 
 For its racing car, the team was ranked 55th in its first completion at <keyword id="1753008" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="supra">Supra</keyword> 2014 and in 2015, they ranked 19th in Formula Student India. 
 
In 2016, they were selected for an international event in UK. They also stood first in the National Cost Event and 31st worldwide. 
 They have also won the award of most popular car award by <keyword id="6381883" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="jk">JK</keyword> tyres. 
 
The team is looking forward to participating in an event -Formula Bharat in Kari Motorway, Coimbatore, soon.

Fed up of this sudden change, students of AMU have written to the Zameer Uddin Shah, the vice-chancellor of the university, seeking his intervention.

 The issue also caught the attention of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader <keyword id="189230" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asaduddin-Owaisi">Asaduddin Owaisi</keyword>, who tweeted, "15000 students in Aligarh Muslim University have not been served meat (buffalo) since 26 March and BJP says we are not targeting?" 
 
In response to the letter, the management has said that the hostels require over 500 kg meat (buffalo) every day for their 19 dining halls, and the management is unable to arrange this quantity because of lack of operational slaughterhouses in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Aligarh-movie-on-AMU-professor-Dr-Siras/articleshow/50816657.cms">Aligarh</a>. 
 
To this, Kalika Singh, regional officer of UP Pollution Control Board, said, "Of the seven slaughterhouses in Aligarh, four are operational at present. But due to non-availability of animals, they, too, are not providing any meat."

There may be two rallies in a phase too. Four hundred video vans and 1,650 motorbike-riding campaigners are building the 'buzz', war room staffers said. They said 20 lakh 'aspiration' postcards have been collected from voters; these messages are being analysed and will feed into BJP's manifesto. 
 
BJP's Uttar Pradesh IT head Sanjay Rai also said that the state unit runs 8,000 <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=WhatsApp&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">WhatsApp</a> groups for six regions, and boasts a total reach of 12 lakh people. 
 
"WhatsApp is the most popular networking application in the state - around 4.5 crore people use it. We can reach 12 lakh people with our message with the push of a button. The message is forwarded by them invariably to other groups they may be part of,” Rai told ET. 
 
A 110-seater call centre is also operational in the war room. Each operator makes 250 calls daily, talking to booth committee heads, and then creates feedback reports. 
 
BJP has 1.4 lakh booths in UP. There's also a research centre and an electronic media reporting department. These outfits analyse local issues that can influence campaign messaging. A team of over a dozen generates content for UP BJP on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=social+media&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">social media</a>. The state unit says its Facebook page reaches 1.3 crore. 
 
BJP leaders say apps detailing the party's poll pitch can be downloaded quickly - three apps in 15 seconds - from devices available in the party's district offices. Camps set up at some rallies will also offer this facility. 
 However, old-style campaign tactics have not been abandoned. On January 13, BJP is organising 'Mati <keyword id="4057046" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tilak-pratigya">Tilak Pratigya</keyword>' events at 75 locations in the state. The party says 5,000 farmers are expected to turn up at each location. Each farmer is supposed to get a tilak (a mark on the forehead), which will represent, BJP leaders say, the party's pledge to "solve, farmers' issues.
