The number of job vacancies in blue and grey-collar jobs rose from 26,26,637 in 2021 to 1,05,42,820 in 2022 on the platform, according to the report. Annually, the platform sees more than 1 million job openings and 53 lakh job seekers, stated <keyword id="15980586" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="billion-careers" source="Orion">Billion Careers</keyword>. “This robust demand can be attributed to the dynamic job market influenced by digitization, automation, and changing work models. The data also shows that companies are focusing on skill-based mass hiring to boost productivity and efficiency,” said the report. Metro cities like Delhi and Bengaluru showed the most demand for blue and grey collar, followed by Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Pune. "The job market trends of 2022, ranging from Great Resignation to the emergence of gigs, have shown that every segment will be more focused on hiring, including blue and grey collar workers," said <keyword id="108413" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ajay-kumar-singh" source="Orion">Ajay Kumar Singh</keyword>, senior VP and chief business officer of Billion Careers. Digitally sound freshers in demand Around 60% of people hired for blue and grey collar roles were freshers with zero to three of work experience. Most organizations prefer hiring freshers, who are technologically advanced and efficient, says the report. "Organizations today also prefer hiring employees with tech-related skills, as digitization has penetrated across India. <keyword id="24116" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="recruiters" source="Orion">Recruiters</keyword> will optimize hiring processes through technology and address the demand-supply talent gap, focusing on employee engagement and retention,” Singh added. Job profiles like admin and human resources and security guard saw the maximum increase in hiring from 2021, at 31% and 110%, respectively. A positive sentiment in hiring was also seen across profiles like field sales (up by 7%), business development roles (up by 19%), and BPO/Customer Care (up by 21%), compared to 2021. However, as per the report, job roles like data entry, back office, counter sales and retail saw a decline in the demand. Delivery and driver roles saw maximum decline, of 25%, among other job categories. As per the report, sectors like legal, IT, healthcare, telecom, and customer care job profiles gave the highest wages, with the average salary for fresh hires ranging from ₹8,000 to ₹25,000 per month.
