New Delhi, <keyword id="13247465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zydus-Lifesciences" source="Orion">Zydus Lifesciences</keyword> Ltd on Friday reported over two-fold rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,086.9 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2023 driven by strong sales growth from US formulations. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 518.3 crore for the same quarter last fiscal, Zydus Lifesciences said in a regulatory filing. Revenue from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 5,139.6 crore as against Rs 3,964.4 crore in the year-ago period, up 29.6 per cent. India geography clocked sales of Rs 1,920.6 crore in the first quarter as compared to Rs 1,816.7 crore in the corresponding period a year ago. Sales from US formulations were at Rs 2,454.1 crore as compared to Rs 1,559.2 crore in the same quarter a year ago, up 57.4 per cent, the company said. Active pharmaceutical ingredients clocked sales of Rs 138.9 crore in the first quarter as against Rs 122.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, it added. During the quarter, the company witnessed a broad-based operational growth in its key businesses and a favourable product mix enhanced profitability, Zydus Lifesciences Managing Director Sharvil Patel said. "Strong execution and volume offtake drove revenue ramp-up in the US, while the India branded formulations business, adjusting for NLEM (national list of essential medicines) impact delivered solid 12 per cent growth," he added. On the outlook, he said,"We remain reassured on achieving profitable growth aspirations for the fiscal year and thereby enhance stakeholder value."

Zydus Lifesciences Q1 2023-24 profit up 2-fold at Rs 1,087 cr

The drug firm had reported a net profit of Rs 297 crore in the January-March quarter of the 2022-23 fiscal. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 5,534 crore in the period under review from Rs 5,011 crore in the year-ago period, Zydus Lifesciences said in a statement. For the year ended March 31, 2024, the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,859 crore as compared with Rs 1,960 crore in FY23. Revenue from operations rose to Rs 19,547 crore from Rs 17,237 crore in the 2022-23 fiscal. "Our relentless focus on patient centricity, operational efficiency, strategic investments, and execution of our diversified product portfolio continues to pay off, resulting in a significant improvement in profitability as well," Zydus Lifesciences MD Sharvil Patel said. The company said its board has approved a final dividend of Rs 3 per equity share of Re 1 each, subject to approval of the shareholders. Shares of the company ended 4.28 per cent up at Rs 1,051.90 apiece on the BSE. Zydus Q4 net profit surges 4-fold to ₹1,182 cr; revenue at ₹5,534 cr

New Delhi, <keyword id="13247465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zydus-Lifesciences" source="Orion">Zydus Lifesciences</keyword> on Tuesday said it has acquired UK-based LiqMeds Group for GBP 68 million (around Rs 689 crore). The Ahmedabad-based group, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Zydus Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd, will also pay yearly earn-outs until 2026 depending on the achievement of certain agreed milestones towards the acquisition. LiqMeds Group of companies specialises in the development, manufacturing and supply of oral liquid products for global markets. The group's subsidiary LM Manufacturing Ltd has an oral liquids manufacturing site at Weedon, Northampton, UK, which supplies products to the US and UK markets. "Zydus will pay an upfront consideration of GBP 68 million and yearly earn-outs until 2026 depending on the achievement of certain agreed milestones towards the acquisition of the LiqMeds Group of companies," the company said in a regulatory filing. The transaction will be EPS accretive for Zydus from the first year of acquisition, it added. "We believe that liquid orals is a large, growing market and serves unmet needs with significant new market expansion opportunities," Zydus Lifesciences Managing Director Sharvil Patel said. In line with the patient-centric approach, the company believes that oral liquid formulations would help geriatric and paediatric patients, bringing in greater ease of convenience and therapy compliance, he added. Shares of Zydus were trading at 0.89 per cent lower at Rs 574.70 apiece on the BSE.

Obalon Therapeutics skyrockets 568% after announcing merger with weight-loss company ReShape Lifesciences

New Delhi, Feb 5 () Consumer healthcare firm Zydus Wellness on Wednesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 4.24 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2019. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 39.69 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Zydus Wellness said in a regulatory filing. The consolidated financial results for the three and nine months ended December 31, 2019 include operations of Heinz India Pvt Ltd which was merged into Zydus Wellness Products Ltd, hence the results are not comparable with those of the previous periods, the company said. Consolidated revenue from operations of the company stood at Rs 332.67 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was Rs 145.41 crore for the same period a year ago. Avenue Supermarts gains 1%, Cochin Shipyard leaps 5% The shares of India’s largest shipbuilding and maintenance company, Cochin Shipyard gained over 5% after the founder of Avenue Supermarts, Radhakishan Damani bought 0.5% equity stake in the company for ₹394.14 per share. Avenue Supermarts also gained nearly a percent post the announcement. Drug maker Cipla Limited on Sunday announced the launch of experimental anti-viral drug remdesivir under its <keyword id="9441113" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="brand-name-cipremi">brand name Cipremi</keyword>. Remdesivir is the only US FDA approved Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) treatment for adult and paediatric patients hospitalized with suspected or laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection. In May, US drug maker Gilead Sciences extended a voluntary non-exclusive license to Cipla to manufacture and market Cipla's generic version of remedisvir called Cipremi. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted Cipla regulatory approval for restricted emergency use in the country as part of the accelerated approval process considering the urgent and unmet medical need, the company said in a statement. As part of a risk management plan, Cipla will provide training on use of the drug, inform patient consent documents, conduct post marketing surveillance as well as conduct a Phase IV <keyword id="122283" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Clinical-trial">clinical trial</keyword> on Indian patients. "Cipla appreciates the strong partnership with Gilead to bring remdesivir to patients in India. We have been deeply invested in exploring all possible avenues to save millions of lives impacted by Covid-19 pandemic, and this launch is a significant milestone in that direction," said Umang Vohra MD and Global CEO, Cipla. According to a preliminary report from the ACTT-1 (Adaptive COVID-19 Treatment Trial 1) study, a randomized clinical trial conducted with remdesivir on 1,063 patients over 60 centres across US, Europe and Asia demonstrated a faster time to clinical recovery in hospitalised patients as compared to placebo. Most of these patients were on oxygen therapy of which some were receiving high flow oxygen or non-invasive ventilation, and some were on a mechanical ventilator. The mortality rates in the study were 7.1 per cent in those given remdesivir and 11.9 per cent in those who were given placebo. In May, Gilead Sciences signed non-exclusive voluntary licensing agreements with six Indian pharmaceutical companies to boost the supply of remdesivir, the experimental antiviral drug that has shown promise in Covid-19 treatment. These companies were -- Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., <keyword id="9441116" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="zydus-cadila-healthcare-ltd-">Zydus Cadila Healthcare Ltd.</keyword>, Biocon company Syngene, Hetero Labs Ltd.; Jubilant Lifesciences; and Cipla Ltd. Media reports said that Hetero Labs Ltd has also received regulatory approval from DCGI but the drug maker was yet to make it official. Cipla said it will be commercialising remdesivir through its own facilities and partnered sites. The drug will be supplied through government and open market channels, to ensure equitable distribution.
