<keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword> on Tuesday named a tried and tested squad for the <keyword id="21536718" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Womens-T20-World-Cup" source="keywords">Women's T20 World Cup</keyword> under the leadership of <keyword id="19939186" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Harmanpreet-Kaur" source="keywords">Harmanpreet Kaur</keyword>, hoping the experienced bunch takes the team to an elusive ICC trophy. Barring Uma Chetry, all the squad members who were part of an unsuccessful Asia Cup campaign in July have been retained for the marquee event beginning in the UAE from October 3. The competition was shifted to the UAE from Bangladesh following unrest in the South Asian nation owing to a students' protest. Spin all-rounder Shreyanka Patil and top-order batter Yastika Bhatia have been included in the squad subject to fitness. Shreyanka had fractured her finger during the Asia Cup game against Pakistan while Bhatia is recovering from a knee injury. Following the loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final, Kaur will be under pressure to lead her team to the coveted title. The men were finally to able get the monkey off their back and win an ICC title after an 11 year gap back in June. The women, who too have all the resources at their disposal, would be expected to cross the finishing line on this occasion. Kaur first captained the team in the 2018 edition and since then India have reached one final but it has largely been a story of missed opportunities. Their biggest challenge will be to beat Australia as usual. Both teams are in the same group which also includes Pakistan and Sri Lanka. On expected lines, the squad is loaded with spinners including Deepti Sharma, Asha Sobhana and Radha Yadav. The two specialist pacers are Renuka Singh and Arundhati Reddy while Pooja Vastrakar is the sole fast bowling all-rounder. Titas Sadhu is a notable name missing in the pace department. "Given the players we have it's a good squad. Hope Yastika and Sheyanka get fit," former India captain Diana Edulji told PTI. Star batter Smriti Mandhana has been named Kaur's deputy and like always will be the key at the top of the order. Besides the thin fast bowling resources, India are also not a side full of power-hitters. Kaur and Richa Ghosh will be responsible for producing the big hits in the middle overs phase of the game. Women's T20 World Cup: India begin chase for elusive title with opener against arch-rivals Pakistan (preview)

Dubai, India will open their campaign in the rescheduled Women's ODI World Cup against a qualifier on March 6, 2022 at Tauranga's Bay Oval in New Zealand, according to the 31-match schedule announced by the ICC on Tuesday. India have two more matches against qualifiers on March 12 and March 22 at Seddon park, Hamilton in the eight-team round-robin format event. Among the marquee games, Tauranga will host the rematch of the 2017 Women's World Cup final at Lord's with India taking on England on March 16. India will then face Australia at Eden Park, Auckland on March 19, before locking horns with South Africa on March 27 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. The event, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic from its original window in February-March 2021 with the same six host cities and venues retained, will be held between March 4 and April 3, 2022. The first global women's <keyword id="1521" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cricket">cricket</keyword> event to be played since the T20 World Cup in Australia in March, it will feature eight of the world's best nations going head-to-head across Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. Expressing his frustration with the conditions, Kohli said, "The more dew came in towards the second half of the Pakistan innings, 10 overs onwards, and the wicket will rotate strike. We could not even get dot balls in because the pitch was obviously providing a big pace for the batsman to work with. The slower balls were not holding up as much. "These small little factors, as I said, it did make a massive difference, and as a team you need to understand what was the reality of the situation out there in the middle, and that's where those 20, 25 extra runs would have been good, but brilliant bowling in the first six (overs by Pakistan) did not allow us to get those extra runs." ICC Women's T20 World Cup records 9.9 million average impressions, highest ever for any women T20 match

The International Cricket Council Board has announced the qualification route to both the Men's and Women's T20 <keyword id="22177" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="world-cup" source="Orion">World Cup</keyword> in 2024, with 12 teams confirmed to get automatic qualification in the men's tournament, to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States. The <keyword id="6355164" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="icc" source="Orion">ICC</keyword> also confirmed South Africa as the host of the inaugural ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2023. The top eight teams from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia along with hosts West Indies and the US, and the next highest-ranked teams on the ICC Men's T20 rankings table as on November 14, 2022 will get automatic qualification for the 2024 men's tournament. If the West Indies finish among the top eight in Australia later this year, three teams will progress based on rankings. If the Caribbean side finishes outside the top eight, only two teams will qualify from the rankings table. Since the tournament will feature 20 teams, the remaining eight spots will be decided through a regional qualification process. The remaining two teams will be identified through a global qualifying event between the four bottom-placed teams in the IWC, besides an additional two teams from the ODI rankings. The inaugural ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2023 will be staged in January next year as a 16-team event.
