New Delhi, Jul 6 () Food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy on Monday said the company has integrated premium on-demand delivery platform, Scootsy, and its restaurant partners with the Swiggy platform. Through the curated selection on the company's homepage, users in Mumbai can now access premium gourmet experiences delivered by its premium fleet of independent pick-up and delivery partners, Swiggy said in a statement. Swiggy acquired Scootsy in 2018 for around Rs 50 crore and had said at that time that the Mumbai-based firm will continue to operate as an independent app after the acquisition. This integration allows Swiggy to build on Scootsy's premium value proposition, its understanding of the niche consumer segment and existing capabilities in curating and delivering premium service offerings, the statement said. "Since the acquisition of Scootsy in 2018, we have been closely observing the premium category and grasping the underpinnings of creating delightful experiences for discerning customers. This, clubbed with the upshift in consumer interest in premium offerings, made for the perfect timing to integrate Scootsy with Swiggy," Swiggy Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sunder said. Realme's DIZO launches first true wireless stereo earbuds and neckband earphones in India

New Delhi, May 11 () Leading online food ordering platform Swiggy on Monday said Marriott International's delivery service initiative will now be available in more cities through an agreement with the hospitality major.The association will be the first of its kind for Marriott International hotels across India, as they adapt to this new model for home delivery service, Swiggy said in a statement.To start with, over 20 hotels in cities such as Bengaluru, Kolkata Chandigarh, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Agra, Pune, Mumbai, Coimbatore and Goa will be listed on the company's platform, it added."We are pleased to see Swiggy becoming one of our innovative partners. But India’s businesses, especially the smaller ones, have still not embraced a connected world. Further, considering we do not know when normalcy will resume, these traditional job seekers need to learn digital processes,” said Vembu. According to a report by World Economic Forum -- Indian Cities in the Post Pandemic World, released on January 7, 2021 -- about 70% of India's gross domestic product (GDP) comes from its cities and around 25-30 people migrate to cities from rural areas every minute. The development model of India in the last 20-30 years has been very urban centric where one has to bring talent out of villages into cities. Vembu feels, in this process, we are overcrowding urban areas and leaving rurals empty which is not good. “So to bring some balance to this situation, more economic activity has to happen at the rural level, particularly high paying technology jobs have to be moved to rural areas. The idea is to create jobs for people who otherwise might have to shift to urban areas,” says Vembu. Jayesh Ranjan, the information technology (IT) secretary of Telangana, highlighted a survey that said 68% of India’s MSMEs did not have an email address five years back, which is very disheartening to hear. He feels that MSMEs can benefit from technology and it is only a matter of mindset holding them back. If unfortunate circumstances like a pandemic come up, dramatic changes can literally happen overnight. He cited an example of how the government and Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) literally converted thousands of kirana (mom and pop) stores into online stores overnight. “They created their website, inventory, payments getaways and so on,” said Ranjan. The data indicates rising interest of individuals in financial assets like stocks, bonds, mutual funds. Adding to it, data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) shows that in the year ended March 2020, the net financial assets in India — defined as gross financial assets less financial liabilities — jumped from ₹13.73 lakh crore in FY19 to ₹15.62 lakh crore in FY20 due to decline in borrowing from banks. Since interest rates have remained low in the country for quite some time, investors have shifted more savings towards soaring markets. Many new retail investors entered the industry in the last one year as interest rates kept depleting and markets kept surging. In fact, 14.2 million demat accounts have been opened in FY21, according to SEBI data. “The net financial assets of Indian households have grown due to fall in bank deposits and increase in investments. Lower interest rate environment, combined with friction-less access to financial markets due to fintech services and online brokers, is one of the key reasons for this spike in financial assets in India. As of January, India's total demat account stood at 51.5 million, a 26% increase compared to the end of FY20,” said Nikhil Kamath, cofounder of Zerodha. Most new investors that have come in the last one year are lured because of the record high Sensex/Nifty 50 levels and ease in opening a demat account, doing e-KYC through popular online trading platforms like Zerodha. Zerodha holds 18.85% market share with 33.9 lakh unique active investors followed by Upstox with 10.9% market share with19.6 lakh unique active investors, reveals data by stock market analytics platform Trade Brains. "Indians are increasingly preferring financial assets over physical assets. While non-financial assets give a sense of ownership, financial instruments such as mutual funds and equities are easy to liquidate. Also, due to the pandemic people have learnt the importance of investing, portfolio diversification, and hence financial assets will continue to grow in the future," said Kumar. New Delhi, May 29 () Multinational Conglomerate ITC Ltd's hospitality arm ITC Hotels on Friday announced to partner online food delivery platform Swiggy to deliver its food delicacies at customers' doorsteps amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The move would enable ITC Hotels' customers to enjoy their pre-paid orders with 'no-contact' deliveries and have unique food experiences with local offerings from the regions at their home, said a joint statement. This would be implemented into phases across India and deliveries from properties such as ITC Maurya (New Delhi), ITC Royal Bengal (Kolkata), ITC Grand Chola (Chennai), ITC Gardenia (Bengaluru), ITC Windsor (Bengaluru), ITC Kohenur (Hyderabad), ITC Rajputana (Jaipur), ITC Grand Goa (Goa) and Welcomhotel Bengaluru would be commenced in the phase one. While, under the second phase more ITC Hotels and Welcomhotel properties will be added to the Swiggy home delivery initiative, it added. Commenting on the development, ITC Hotels COO Anil Chadha said: "We are re-engineering our guest experiences with zero/low associate engagement (including digital ordering and e-payment solutions). The partnership with Swiggy will assist us in responsibly delivering our unique culinary experiences using their advanced distribution network. Together we are committed to delivering a responsible guest experience." Swiggy COO Vivek Sunder said: "Through our partnership with ITC Hotels, customers can now indulge in curated gourmet dishes from popular restaurants of the ITC Hotels chain across India through the Swiggy app. We look forward to creating unique dining experiences for customers while helping them celebrate special occasions at the comfort of their homes." Earlier other luxury star hotels such as Marriott, Hilton have piggybacked on food ordering and delivery platforms such as Zomato, Swiggy to reach customers during the lockdown and the people are expected to avoid crowded places as restaurants in the initial phases. "It may be recalled that ITC Hotels had tapped into the food and beverage take-away model across the country recently and received overwhelming feedback from diners for the "Flavours" takeaway (and home delivery) dining experience. Our steady expansion in these cities has shown that there is a growing need for quality food, convenience and accessibility in smaller towns,” Vivek Sunder, chief operating officer, Swiggy, said. The company also said that one in four Indians has access to Swiggy now. Swiggy built some interesting use cases as it expands to newer markets. In the hilly city of Shimla, Swiggy executives deliver food on foot. In Guntur of Andhra Pradesh, the app received more than 2,500 orders on the first day of its launch. As it expands to cities beyond Tier 1, Swiggy is also saw that a number of its delivery executives are moving back to their hometowns, to work. Swiggy became one of India’s fastest unicorn in June last year, getting the prime status within four years of operations. In December 2018, the food delivery startup further raked in a whopping $1 billion in funding, taking p its valuation to $3.3 billion. “With this funding, we will further invest in building differentiated offerings, plugging the white spaces in the ecosystem, and developing our technology while keeping superlative customer experience at the core," said Sriharsha Majety, CEO, Swiggy had then said. The startup expanded its offerings to include Swiggy stores and Swiggy Go, on-demand delivery services.
