The stock soared 13.70 per cent to hit 52-week high of Rs 299 on the BSE. On the NSE, the stock climbed 13.77 per cent to Rs 298.80 -- its 52-week high. Shares of UltraTech Cement also jumped 6.51 per cent to hit the one-year peak of Rs 11,875.95 on the BSE. The board of directors of the company at its meeting held on Thursday approved "making a financial investment to purchase up to 7.06 crore equity shares of the India Cements Ltd," a regulatory filing by UltraTech Cement said. The deal would be at "at a price of up to Rs 267 per share," and this non-controlling financial investment constitutes around 23 per cent of the equity share capital of India Cements, the filing said. India Cements' turnover for financial year 2023-24 stood at Rs 5,112 crore. UltraTech Cement has a consolidated capacity of 152.7 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of grey cement. It has 24 integrated manufacturing units, 33 grinding units, one clinkerisation unit and 8 bulk packaging terminals.

In the past four trading days, the BSE benchmark jumped 2,033.28 points or 2.63% The market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies hit a lifetime high of Rs 4,38,41,960.73 crore ($ 5.25 trillion). Investors' wealth has gone up by Rs 3.93 lakh crore in four trading sessions. Remarkably, the BSE benchmark took just two trading sessions to cover the journey from the 78,000 level hit on June 25 to breach the 79,000 mark on June 27. Market cap of BSE-listed firms hit all-time high of Rs 438.41 lakh crore

<ul><li>UltraTech Cement’s revenue from operations for the quarter rose 18% at ₹18,662 crore from ₹15,767 crore in the year-ago quarter.</li><li>UltraTech Cement’s board has recommended a dividend of ₹38 per equity share aggregating to ₹1,097 crore.</li><li>During the quarter, the cement maker saw an increase in energy cost by 17% on year and 4% lower sequentially.</li></ul>UltraTech Cement’s Q4 net profit fell 32% to ₹1,666 crore as compared to ₹2,461 crore in the same quarter last year. Meanwhile, its revenue from operations for the quarter rose 18% to ₹18,662 crore from ₹15,767 crore Q4 FY22, the company said in a regulatory filing. During the quarter, the cement maker saw its energy costs increase by 17%, and prices of pet coke and coal too increased 18% on a yearly basis. Raw material cost was up 9% on year on account of increase in cost of fly ash, slag and gypsum etc. Adding to it, the company’s tax expense also rose in Q4 to ₹800 crore as compared to tax credit of ₹139 crore in the same quarter last year. UltraTech Cement’s board recommended a dividend of ₹38 per equity share aggregating to ₹1,097 crore. The cement maker’s rival ACC also reported a decline in its profitability with a 40% fall in net profit to ₹235 crore for March quarter, on Thursday. Ultratech said it has achieved 100 million tons of production, dispatches and sales in FY23. This was backed by an effective capacity utilization of 95% during this quarter and 84% capacity utilization for the year. Total sales volume for the quarter rose 15% on year and 23% sequentially at 31.7 million tons. UltraTech Cement mentioned that the expansion programme is progressing as per schedule. During the year, it commissioned 12.4 mtpa (million tonne per annum) additional capacity of grey cement. It further commissioned a 2.2 mtpa brownfield cement capacity at Patliputra in April, 23. Work on its next phase of growth of 22.6 mtpa has already commenced. “Civil work is in full swing at most sites. Commercial production from these new capacities is expected to go on stream in a phased manner by FY25/FY26. Upon completion of these expansions, the Company's capacity will grow to 160.45 mtpa, reinforcing its position as the third largest cement company in the world, outside of China and the largest in India by far,” it said in the exchange filing. UltraTech Cement’s Q4 net profit falls 32% to ₹1,666 crore, declares dividend

The 30-share BSE Sensex advanced 33.57 points or 0.05 per cent to settle at 69,584.60, driven by late buying. During the day, it fell 450.47 points or 0.64 per cent to 69,100.56. The Nifty gained 19.95 points or 0.10 per cent to 20,926.35. "The market's focus now shifts to the upcoming FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting. And the recent global upside is getting far stretched in anticipation of a rapid fall in US Fed rate in CY 2024," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services. Among the Sensex firms, NTPC, Power Grid, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Larsen &amp; Toubro, <keyword id="44642" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sun-pharma" source="Orion">Sun Pharma</keyword>, State Bank of India, Titan and Tata Steel were the major gainers. "Asian shares were mixed while European markets were up on Wednesday, as traders waited for the year's final policy decision from the Federal Reserve and clues on whether the central bank will cut rates next year," said Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research, HDFC Securities. In Asian markets, Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong settled lower while Tokyo ended in the positive territory. European markets were trading with gains. The US markets ended in positive territory on Tuesday. "Domestic equities were lacklustre ahead US Fed's decision late today. Nifty remained in negative territory for the most part of the day but last hour buying helped indices to close in green with marginal gains of 20 points at 20,926 levels," Siddhartha Khemka, Head - Retail Research, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, said. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.27 per cent to USD 73.04 a barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were buyers on Wednesday as they bought equities worth Rs 4,710.86 crore, according to exchange data. Snapping its declining trend, retail inflation rose to a three-month high of 5.55 per cent in November on firming food prices, including vegetables and cereals, though it remains within the RBI's comfort zone of less than 6 per cent. After a two-day rally, the BSE benchmark fell by 377.50 points or 0.54 per cent to settle at 69,551.03 on Tuesday. The Nifty declined 90.70 points or 0.43 per cent to 20,906.40.

Stock markets settle marginally higher on late buying; L&T, RIL advance

In a choppy session, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 92.47 points or 0.14 per cent to settle at 66,023.24. During the day, it fell to a low of 65,664.85 and touched a high of 66,063.43. The Nifty edged higher by 28.45 points or 0.14 per cent to 19,811.85. "Investors are following global markets, which are mostly sluggish with a mixed bias. Due to lack of fresh positive triggers, investors are trading cautiously and taking selective bets," Prashanth Tapse, Research Analyst, Sr VP Research, Mehta Equities Ltd, said. Underlining that the banking system continues to be resilient and there is no immediate cause of worry for the system, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday advised lenders to be more cautious and spot any trend of risk building early. "While banks and NBFCs are showing good performance now, sustaining it requires concerted efforts. In good times like these, banks and NBFCs need to reflect and introspect as to where potential risks could possibly originate," he said. At a time when the system is reporting robust credit growth, Das asked lenders to avoid any form of "exuberance" in their business and to ensure that sectoral and sub-sectoral exposures are "sustainable". In Asian markets, Seoul and Tokyo settled in the green, while Shanghai and Hong Kong ended lower. Europan markets were trading mostly with gains. The US markets ended in negative territory on Tuesday. "Despite the US Fed adopting a cautious stance in its minutes and refraining from indicating a rate cut, the market recovered from the day's correction and ended with mild gain. On the other hand, the broad market witnessed some profit-booking as investors' focus shifted to the primary market, marked by a set of IPOs scheduled for this week. "However, the undercurrent is positive, with a cooling of inflation and an easing US bond yield supporting a short- to medium-term rally," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services. Global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.46 per cent to USD 82.07 a barrel. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 455.59 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data. The BSE benchmark climbed 275.62 points or 0.42 per cent to settle at 65,930.77 on Tuesday. The Nifty went up by 89.40 points or 0.45 per cent to 19,783.40.

Markets settle with modest gains in highly volatile trade

The barometer had on Friday ended higher by 555.75 points, or 0.86 per cent, at 65,387.16. In two days, investors' wealth went up by Rs 5,41,951.7 crore. The market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms stood at Rs 3,15,01,090.40 crore. "Markets extended their gains for the second trading session on the back of rising expectations of a rate hike pause by the <keyword id="6356435" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="us-federal-reserve" source="Orion">US Federal Reserve</keyword>. Further, reports of China taking measures to revive the property sector in the country also boosted sentiment," Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Research (Retail), Kotak Securities Ltd, said. Manufacturing activities in India gained momentum in August as new orders and output increased at quickest rates in nearly three years, according to a survey released on Friday. GST collections grew 11 per cent to over Rs 1.59 lakh crore in August on the back of improved compliance and reduced evasion, with experts forecasting higher mop-up to continue in the upcoming festive season. Domestic passenger vehicle sales hit a record in August, led by highest-ever monthly dispatches from Maruti Suzuki on the back of festive demand and the continued strong offtake of SUVs. In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong ended with gains. European markets were trading in the green in early deals. The US markets ended mostly in the positive territory on Friday. Mumbai, Rising for the second straight session, equity benchmark Sensex climbed 142 points on Thursday following buying in IT and finance stocks amid a positive trend in global markets. After a see-saw session, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended 142.43 points or 0.23 per cent higher at 60,806.22. During the day, the index witnessed a high of 60,863.63 and a low of 60,472.81. The broader <keyword id="372424" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nse-nifty" source="Orion">NSE Nifty</keyword> advanced 21.75 points or 0.12 per cent to finish at 17,893.45. <keyword id="85462" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bajaj-finserv" source="Orion">Bajaj Finserv</keyword> topped the Sensex gainers' chart, rising 2.30 per cent, followed by Asian Paints, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank, L&amp;T and TCS. In contrast, Bharti Airtel, <keyword id="6355596" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ultratech-cement" source="Orion">UltraTech Cement</keyword>, <keyword id="42747" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="Orion">Tata Motors</keyword>, <keyword id="44642" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sun-pharma" source="Orion">Sun Pharma</keyword>, HDFC and Axis Bank were among the laggards, shedding up to 1.03 per cent. The market breadth was positive, with 18 advances and 12 declines. "Traders mostly remained on the sidelines in the absence of any fresh positive triggers, as worries of global slowdown and no signs of any pause on global rate hike cycle continued to weigh on the sentiment. "Although markets were range-bound with a positive bias, fluctuation in the market could continue in the near term," said <keyword id="131488" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shrikant-chouhan" source="Orion">Shrikant Chouhan</keyword>, Head of Equity Research (Retail), Kotak Securities Ltd. In the broader market, the BSE midcap gauge slipped 0.01 per cent and the smallcap index dipped 0.15 per cent. Among sectoral indices, IT climbed 0.88 per cent, technology 0.71 per cent, industrials (0.36 per cent) and Capital Goods (0.26 per cent). Power, telecommunications commodities and realty were among the losers. Markets closed higher for the second consecutive session, aided by buying in IT stocks and despite volatility in Adani group stocks following MSCI review of their free float weights in their indices, said <keyword id="161383" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="deepak-jasani" source="Orion">Deepak Jasani</keyword>, Head of Retail Research, HDFC Securities. European stocks rose, after touching nine-month highs on Wednesday as investors pinned hopes on peaking inflation and a major recession now looking less likely on the continent, Jasani added. "Any more-than-expected negative outcome of the MSCI review meeting on Adani company weights in their indices could result in a lower opening of Nifty on Friday," Jasani said. Shares of Adani Power fell 5 per cent to close at 172.90 apiece on BSE after the company on Wednesday reported a 96 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 8.77 crore for the December quarter. Edible oil major Adani Wilmar Ltd jumped 5 per cent to end at 440.30 per scrip. It has reported a 16 per cent increase in consolidated profit to Rs 246.16 crore for the third quarter. Adani Group's flagship Adani Enterprises crashed 10.72 per cent to settle Rs 1,927.30. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone dropped 2.90 per cent to Rs 582.05. Adani Transmission and Adani Total Gas witnessed a fall of 5 per cent each, while Adani Green Energy fell 4.96 per cent. The scrip of Ambuja Cements slipped 6.86 per cent to Rs 358, NDTV fell 4.92 per cent to Rs 216.55 and ACC dipped 2.91 per cent to Rs 1,915.95 on the exchange. Elsewhere in Asia, markets in Seoul, Shanghai and Hong Kong ended with gains, while Tokyo settled in the red. However, equity exchanges in Europe were trading in the positive territory in the afternoon session. Wall Street had ended lower in the overnight session. The rupee closed flat at 82.54 against the US dollar on Thursday. International oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.29 per cent higher at USD 85.34 per barrel. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in capital markets as they offloaded shares worth Rs 736.82 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data.

The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 144.61 points or 0.23 per cent to settle at 62,677.91. During the day, it jumped 301.81 points or 0.48 per cent to 62,835.11. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 52.30 points or 0.28 per cent to end at 18,660.30. From the Sensex pack, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, NTPC, IndusInd Bank, State Bank of India, Power Grid, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services and Larsen &amp; Toubro were the major winners. Nestle, Bharti Airtel, <keyword id="6653" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="icici-bank" source="Orion">ICICI Bank</keyword>, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever and <keyword id="6355596" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ultratech-cement" source="Orion">UltraTech Cement</keyword> were among the laggards. "Better-than-expected inflation readings from major global economies, combined with increased appetite for IT stocks, aided the domestic market's bullishness. US CPI inflation easing to 7.1 per cent in November will lower the chances of the <keyword id="45672" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="fed" source="Orion">Fed</keyword> being hawkish. Though the Fed is largely expected to raise rates by 50 basis points, their comments on future inflation and rate actions would dominate market movements," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services. Elsewhere in Asia, equity markets in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong ended in the positive territory. Equity exchanges in Europe were trading lower in mid-session deals. The US markets had ended higher on Tuesday. The wholesale price-based inflation fell to a 21-month low of 5.85 per cent in November as prices of food, fuel and manufactured items softened. "All eyes will be on the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on interest rate later in the day, as the outcome would set the tone for the rest of the equity markets across the globe," said Prashanth Tapse - Research Analyst, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd.
