Fakir Chand Kohli, the founder and the first CEO of <keyword id="6357585" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-consultancy-services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS), passed away on Thursday after reportedly suffering a heart attack. He was 96. A recipient of the Padma Bhushan, Kohli is called the 'Father of Indian IT Industry' and is credited for pioneering the technology revolution in India. Mourning the passing of Kohli, TCS, in statement, noted that Kohli joined the company in 1969 at the behest of J.R.D. Tata. He pivoted the first into management consultancy, and then over the next two decades, into software development, helping the organisation navigate multiple technology waves over two and a half decades by continually investing in people and staying relevant to customers, it said. Kohli stepped down as TCS' CEO in 1996 and continued to play an active role in promoting technology to solve the country's social problems. <keyword id="46894" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword> Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said: "I am deeply saddened by the news that Mr F.C. Kohli passed away this afternoon. FC Kohli, 'father' of India's IT industry and TCS founder, passes away at 96

Revenue from JLR fell by a billion dollars in the year ending March 2019 and made profit in only one of the four quarters last year. Last year, Tata Motors had to take an impairment-- write down the value-- of ₹27,838 crore due to weak sales and profitability at JLR. Things continue to look bleak even after 4,500 jobs were axed. This posed a question in front of N Chandrasekharan, the Chairman of the group's parent Tata Sons, on how long will the conglomerate continue to back the bleeding giant. "A company cannot shut the cash tap as the very nature of this business demands continuous investment in product and technology development," he <a href="https://www.indiatvnews.com/auto/cars-jaguar-land-rover-looking-for-financial-partnership-in-china-tata-chairman-n-chandrasekaran-539207" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">reportedly</a> said at the Annual General Meeting. "There are many discussions from tactical to strategic for such partnerships. Opportunities are coming and we keep evaluating them and as long as it is in the interest of Tata Motors. We will forge such partnerships so that we are able to address the capex issue," he told the shareholders. Tata Motors has already joined hands with German giant and rival BMW recently for a collaboration for manufacturing electric vehicles under the JLR banner.  Any recovery for the JLR hinges a lot on how Brexit unfolds. “Uncertainty around an orderly outcome of Brexit negotiations and the evolving global tariffs situation pose risks, in particular to TML's JLR business, which faces a significant level of production-sales mismatch due to concentration of its production base in the UK,” global ratings agency Fitch said while downgrading Tata Motors for JLR's troubles. Aside from Brexit, the US-China trade war and <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/tata-motors-mulls-selling-stake-in-jlr-agencies/articleshow/68216938.cms">signs</a> of a slowdown in the global economy are also compounding JLR's problems. China has traditionally been one of the biggest markets for the luxury car but sale volumes fell a sharp 29% between April and June this year, compared to the same time last year. A month back, credit rating agency Moody’s had downgraded Tata Motors. In addition to JLR related troubles, Tata Motors’ domestic business is also troubled by a general slowdown in the auto market. In June 2019, Tata Motors <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/companies/tata-motors-global-sales-dip-5-in-june-4195251.html">reported </a>a 14% decline in India sales, while a 5% drop was seen in global sales. According to the Wizikey report, Reliance holds the credit for one-third of the total news created by the top 5 companies. The busiest news month for the company was in August, when it held its annual general meeting. Cyrus Mistry, whose family holds a majority stake in Tata Sons, was appointed as Chairman in 2012 and was ousted in 2016. <keyword id="6360722" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ratan-tata">Ratan Tata</keyword> has asked Mistry to step down from his post as the board had lost faith in him. However, Mistry’s refusal to leave had resulted in the very public spat between Tata and Mistry. Mistry was later replaced by the former TCS CEO, <keyword id="539517" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="N-Chandrasekharan">N Chandrasekharan</keyword>. There are so many things that one can learn from <keyword id="6360722" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="ratan-tata">Ratan Tata</keyword>, and the art of keeping employees motivated is one of them. On Friday, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/ratan-tata-is-not-stepping-down-from-tata-trusts-rubbishes-reports/articleshow/56018782.cms">chairman of Tata Trusts</a> called all employees of the Tata group "inheritors and custodians of the Trusts" and of its "belief in making a sustainable change" in society. 
 The <keyword id="123235" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Charitable-Trust">charitable trust</keyword> owns 66% of <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword>, which is the holding entity of all companies controlled by the conglomerate that deals in a variety of interests, ranging from salt, cars, technology and steel.

It is because of you that we can derive and obtain the opportunity and the privilege to serve our community and through that, our nation," Tata wrote in a letter on the occasion of the 178th birth anniversary of Tata Trusts founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. It’s also the 125th year of the philanthropic organization. 
 
It was in 1892 that Tata Trusts was set up, in the form of the JN Tata Endowment, followed by Sir Ratan Tata trust in 1919, Sir Dorabji Tata Trust in 1932, the JRD Tata Trust in 1944, the Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust Jamsetji Tata Trust in 1974 and lastly, the Tata Education and Development Trust in 2008. 
 
The trust deals in healthcare, water, rural upliftment, energy, education, relief, rehabilitation and individual grants, and boasts of the creation of institutes such as the Indian Institute of Science, Tata Memorial Hospital, Tata Institute of Social Sciences and the National Centre for the Performing Arts, all reputed names in their respective fields. 
 However, only recently it was in the news because of former Tata Sons chairman <keyword id="6356895" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cyrus-Mistry">Cyrus Mistry</keyword> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/war-intensifies-cyrus-mistry-is-going-to-challenge-chandrasekarans-appointment-as-tata-sons-chairman/articleshow/56642005.cms">questioning its governance structure</a> and ambit of power. It was October 24, 2016 that Mystry was <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/cyrus-mistry-removed-as-tata-sons-director/articleshow/57003221.cms">ousted from his post</a>, which led to the feud. 
 
Four months later, on February 21 2017, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/this-is-how-new-chairman-chandrasekaran-is-going-to-enhance-operational-expertise-at-tata/articleshow/57307123.cms">N. Chandrasekaran</a> was appointed the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/N-Chandrasekaran-takes-charge-as-Tata-Group-Chairman-this-is-what-he-said-after-taking-over-the-reins/articleshow/57267209.cms">new chairman</a> of the Tata group. Chandrasekaran had earlier served as the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/chandrasekaran-moving-out-of-tcs-may-be-alarming-for-most-profitable-it-company/articleshow/56564074.cms">CEO of TCS</a>. 
 
Chandrasekaran also wrote a letter of encouragement to his employees, saying that higher shareholder value and business performance can be achieved if the conglomerate focuses relentlessly on customers and use innovation to reinvent its businesses.
