<keyword id="42747" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="Orion">Tata Motors</keyword> on Tuesday said it plans to keep updating its SUV range as it expects the robustly growing segment to remain highly competitive with presence of all leading players. Sports utility vehicles are driving the overall growth of the domestic passenger vehicle segment. As per the latest SIAM data, SUV sales account for 60 per cent of the overall passenger vehicle sales in the country. In an interaction with PTI, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director <keyword id="1890649" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shailesh-chandra" source="Orion">Shailesh Chandra</keyword> said the company has a leadership position in some of the SUV sub-segments and is looking to consolidate in others. "The SUV segment is going to be an intensely fought segment. The top three-four players will have just a few thousand (units) here and there. At some point someone will be number one, sometimes somebody else will become number two," he said. He noted that in such scenarios it is more important to focus on the individual products and whether they are in the top two consideration for buyers. <keyword id="796" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandra" source="Orion">Chandra</keyword> said Punch and Nexon are market leaders in their respective segments while <keyword id="19169064" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="harrier-safari" source="Orion">Harrier Safari</keyword> combo was number two in its vertical. Tata Motors on Tuesday rolled out new versions of <keyword id="1606144" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="harrier" source="Orion">Harrier</keyword> and <keyword id="62620" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="safari" source="Orion">Safari</keyword> with price starting at Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 16.19 lakh, respectively. "Going beyond this, we are coming with two more models -- Curvv and Sierra -- in 2024 and 2025, respectively," he stated. So the company's SUV portfolio is going to further strengthen from where it is now, Chandra noted. "We have been number one for quite some time. There have been few new launches by other players. The ranking will keep changing... there is no clear number one here. "Important thing is that we are doing excellent in all these four SUVs that we have. More importantly, we are adding to this portfolio, so our strength in SUV is going to always remain very strong going forward," he added. The updated versions of both Harrier and Safari have received top safety ratings from the vehicle safety group <keyword id="2032193" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="global-ncap" source="Orion">Global NCAP</keyword>. "With their 5-star GNCAP rating and highest scores by any Indian vehicle to date, our SUVs are the safest spaces on Indian roads," Chandra said. In a separate statement, Global NCAP said it has given five-star safety ratings to the new versions of <keyword id="595044" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tata-safari" source="Orion">Tata Safari</keyword> and Harrier SUVs. Both models have achieved the highest ever score for adult and child occupant safety in the crash tests done by Global NCAP on Indian cars so far, it stated. Global NCAP rates vehicles from zero to five based on their safety features and automobiles with a higher rating are considered safer for occupants. "This is a very strong result... the top adult and child safety score in our testing to date confirms the manufacturer's strong commitment to developing safer vehicles, which we warmly welcome and applaud," Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas said in a statement. Global NCAP's crash test protocols assess frontal and side impact protection for all models, as well as electronic stability control. SUV segment to see intense competition among players: Tata Motors

Greater Noida, Feb 5 () Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Wednesday said Tata Motors will launch at least four more products in the next 18-24 months with focus on sustainability and electric vehicles. The company is focusing on - CESS: connected, electric, shared and safe - as the future of mobility. "Tata Motors is pushing the envelope with other group companies on safety... We have launched two models since we unveiled Tigor in 2017, and Nexa last week, at least four more products will be coming in the next 18-24 months," Chandrasekaran said. He added that Tata Motors is working with seven other group companies, and expects to invest continuously to expand its endeavours to drive electric vehicles and sustainable mobility in India. Tata Motors on Wednesday announced four global unveils, a pre-production preview and a commercial launch at the Auto Expo here. It launched the Harrier which will be priced Rs 13.69 lakh onwards for manual and Rs 16.25 lakh for automatic variant. It also showcases the pre-production version of its Gravitas SUV that is scheduled to be launched in the first half of FY2021. The company will allow test drive of its Nexon EV, besides showcasing the new Winger and Prima. Tata Motors brings back iconic 'Safari' under the code-name Gravitas, bookings to open soon

Jaisalmer, Dec 4 () Tata Motors on Wednesday said it will increase prices of its passenger vehicles from January, primarily in order to offset impact of upgrading its portfolio to conform to BSVI emission norms.
 The company currently sells products ranging from hatchback Tiago to SUV Harrier, priced between Rs 4.39 lakh and Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
 "With BSVI products coming in, prices will increase from January," Tata Motors President (Passenger Vehicles Business Unit) Mayank Pareek told in an interview here.
 He declined to quantify the increase in prices but said the hike next month would be on a higher side as compared to earlier price revisions taken by the company.
 "We are working on the calculations...normally if any change happens the prices go up by Rs 10,000-15,000. Now there are two things happening, one is BSVI and there is also pressure from rise in commodity prices," Pareek said.
 BSVI emission norms in India are slated to kick in from April 1, 2020.
 On Tuesday, Maruti Suzuki India announced to increase prices of its models from January to offset rising input costs.
 Other automakers like Toyota, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra and Mercedes-Benz are also contemplating a similar move.
 Hyundai Motor India and Honda Cars India, however, said they will not increase vehicle prices in January, but their products will see price hike when BSVI compliant models are introduced in the market. MSS DRR

Tata Motors to hike passenger vehicle prices from January

New Delhi, <keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="keywords">Tata Motors</keyword> expects the industry sales growth of electric vehicles in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> to moderate to 40-45 per cent this year with the base becoming bigger, a top company official said on Wednesday. The company, which launched Punch.ev on Wednesday, plans to introduce four more EV models this year, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd &amp; Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said. It is expecting to grow faster than the industry EV growth rate, he added. "Two years back, EVs were growing on a very low base. In the last calendar year, it had a growth of nearly 100 per cent but now the base is getting bigger. By the end of this financial year, it will be around 90,000 to 1 lakh. On this high base, I think the growth (industry) would moderate to about 40 per cent to 45 per cent," Chandra said. As for Tata Motors, he said with five EV products lined up for launch, the company expects to beat the industry growth rate. When asked about EV penetration in the overall sales of the company, he said, "Currently we are between 12 to 15 per cent. Fortunately, we are also growing in <keyword id="20088520" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ice" source="keywords">ICE</keyword> (<keyword id="20225695" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="internal-combustion-engine" source="keywords">Internal Combustion Engine</keyword>). So, the denominator keeps changing." In 2023, Tata Motors sold a total of 69,153 units of EVs. Further, he said, "In the next three years, we have taken a target of achieving 25 per cent of total sales with all the products that we are going to launch. 2024 should be around 15-17 per cent." Chandra said apart from Punch.ev, Tata Motors will launch the Curvv, Harrier EV, <keyword id="20225694" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sierra" source="keywords">Sierra</keyword> and Altroz EV this year, most of which are expected in the second half. Punch.ev has been launched with an introductory price ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh-14.49 lakh. It comes with two battery pack options - 25 kWh, offering a range of 315 km, and a 35 kWh option, which offers a range of 421 km on a single charge.

Tata Motors expects industry EV sales growth in India to moderate to 40-45% this year

The British company which is now owned by Chinese SIAC entered the India automobile market with a a mid-size SUV, MG Hector. While the car officially launched in India today with a starting price of ₹12.18 lakh, its bookings had opened in June. And, it has 10,000 of them already with a 2-4 month waiting period. The deliveries of the car will begin on July 1. Earlier in June 2019, MG Motors launched its flagship store in Gurugram, along with a network of 120 centers across the country. The manufacturer plans to increase it to 250 centers by September this year. "The one-of-its-kind flagship experience store redefines the traditional car buying experience in India, in line with the demands and requirements of new-age customers,” said Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director, MG Motor India during the launch. The car competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 500, Hyundai Creta along with the awaited launch of Kia Seltos.

The car maker managed to sell a higher number of cars despite witnessing a shortfall in production due to the ongoing semiconductor crisis. “The ever-increasing demand for Nexon EV and Tigor EV as well as progressive revival of the EV [electric vehicles] fleet segment were instrumental in driving this steep growth,” said Shailesh Chandra, president of passenger vehicles business unit at Tata Motors in an exchange filing. <div type="image" title="tata motor" height="900" width="1200" msid="88660301" hostid="261"></div>Good demand on the newly launched Tata Punch also helped the company boost its overall sales. “The overwhelming market response to Tata Punch launched in October 2021 is further boosting demand for the company’s “New Forever” range of cars and SUVs [sports utility vehicles],” added Chandra. Not to forget, the company’s booming electric vehicle business, which is adding to the excitement around electric cars. The company recorded a new sales peak of 5,592 units of electric vehicles in the third quarter of FY22, which is a growth of 345% year-on-year. However, the excitement around the rising sales may not remain long as the company admits it is cautious as the semiconductor shortage continues along with rising covid cases. “Going forward, we expect the situation to remain fluid as the semiconductor shortage continues, instances of COVID begin to rise and underlying demand continues to remain under pressure,” said Girish Wagh, executive director at Tata Motors in an exchange filing.
