In a tweet, Aggarwal said that EV fires will continue to happen. "EV fires will happen. Happens in all global products too. EV fires are much less frequent than ICE (internal combustion engine) fires," he said in a tweet, tagging Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India. Earlier this year, Aggarwal called a senior auto journalist "Petrol Media", and mockingly shared pictures of Burnol in response to the criticism he faced on Twitter. Prithviraj, who is a physiotherapist, had bought Ola scooter in January this year, but he had been fed up with its mileage and poor service by the company. "I had set my Ola scooter on fire as it did not give the mileage as promised by the manufacturer, and the poor service," he had told IANS. By 2025, the share of E2Ws and connected 2-wheelers (C2W) will both cross 50 per cent. Google I/O 2024 highlights: Ask Photos, AI Overviews, AI fraud protection and more announced

<keyword id="19990482" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="power-finance-corporation" source="keywords">Power Finance Corporation</keyword> (<keyword id="20058831" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="PFC" source="keywords">PFC</keyword>) on Wednesday posted over 23 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 7,556.43 crore for March quarter FY24 on account of growth in loan portfolio. It had clocked Rs 6,128.63 crore profit from "continuing and discontinued operations" during the fourth quarter of last fiscal, the company said in an exchange filing. Total income rose to Rs 24,176.34 crore from Rs 20,074.11 crore in January-March FY23. Expenses were at Rs 14,579.16 crore as against Rs 12,312.29 crore a year ago. The company logged the highest annual profit of Rs 26,461 crore in FY24, up 25 per cent from Rs 21,179 crore in FY23. Its consolidated loan asset book increased to Rs 9,90,824 crore as on March 31, 2024, up from Rs 8,57,500 crore a year ago. PFC's consolidated net worth (including non-controlling interest) increased 20 per cent from Rs 1,11,981 crore as on March 31, 2023 to Rs 1,34,289 crore as on March 31 this year. The company's total balance sheet size crossed Rs 10 lakh crore in FY24. Consolidated gross NPA was at 3.02 per cent in FY24 as against 3.66 per cent in FY23. The board also approved the final dividend of Rs 2.50 per share. With this, the total dividend for FY24 would be Rs 13.50 per share. <keyword id="21668447" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cmd-parminder-chopra" source="keywords">CMD Parminder Chopra</keyword> said,"This strong performance is backed by a 14 per cent growth in our loan portfolio while retaining a strong asset quality. PFC's renewable loan portfolio grew 25 per cent year-on-year to over Rs 60,000 crore, she said. PFC Q4 profit grows 23% to ₹7,556 crore

India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL) on Wednesday reported a 44 per cent jump in standalone <keyword id="19942166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="net-profit" source="keywords">net profit</keyword> to Rs 1,552 crore for the fiscal ended March 2024 aided by an increase in <keyword id="20107418" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lending" source="keywords">lending</keyword> and moderation in <keyword id="19936329" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bad-loans" source="keywords">bad loans</keyword>. The state-owned infrastructure finance company had earned a net profit of Rs 1,076 crore in the previous fiscal. The company recorded the <keyword id="20025887" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="highest-ever" source="keywords">highest-ever</keyword> profit, recovery, sanction and disbursement furthering turnaround performance that began three years ago, IIFCL managing director PR Jaishankar said while announcing annual financial numbers. He said, for the first time, the profit before tax has crossed Rs 2,000 crore. During the year, profit before tax has increased to Rs 2,029 crore as against Rs 1,076 crore in the previous year. The company continued to add value as its net worth increased 11 per cent to Rs 14,266 crore in 2023-24 from Rs 12,878 crore in the preceding fiscal. During the year, he said, the company posted record performance with the highest-ever sanctions and disbursements at Rs 42,309 crore and Rs 22,356 crore, respectively. The cumulative sanctions and disbursements stood at Rs 2.5 lakh crore and Rs 1.28 lakh crore, respectively, as of March 31, 2024. Going forward, he said, the company has significant scope to further improve loan growth and expects to grow at 16-18 per cent. To fund business growth, he said the company plans to raise over Rs 30,000 crore during the current financial year. With regard to asset quality, IIFCL has brought down gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) to 1.61 per cent from 4.76 per cent a year ago. The net NPA of the company too declined to 0.46 per cent from 1.41 per cent in the year-ago period. During the current year, he said, the net NPA would be either zero or nearly zero. The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) in the last fiscal increased to 71.51 per cent from 70.48 per cent, Jaishankar said. IIFCL has funded close to 760 infra projects worth Rs 14 lakh crore till March 2024. IIFCL profit rises 44% to highest-ever of ₹1,552 crore in FY24

The <keyword id="19949639" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rupee" source="keywords">rupee</keyword> was trading in a narrow range and appreciated 4 paise to 83.47 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, tracking a positive trend in domestic equities. However, sustained foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit and restricted the up move. <keyword id="19950258" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="forex" source="keywords">Forex</keyword> traders said with <keyword id="19900795" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-investors" source="keywords">foreign investors</keyword> buying US dollars and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) selling the greenback, the USD/INR pair is expected to remain range-bound with a bit of a weakness bias. At the interbank foreign exchange market the local unit moved in a narrow range. It opened at 83.49 against the American currency and touched 83.47 in initial trade, registering a rise of 4 paise from its previous close. On Tuesday, the rupee closed at 83.51 against the American currency. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was at 104.93, lower by 0.07 per cent. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.69 per cent to <keyword id="19944038" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="USD" source="keywords">USD</keyword> 82.95 per barrel. Despite the marginal increase, crude prices have retreated from their elevated level of USD 84 per barrel. "The decrease in oil prices is poised to positively impact India's trade balance, given that 25 per cent of its total import expenditure is attributed to petroleum product imports. Consequently, the lower oil prices are expected to alleviate pressure on the trade deficit, offering a favorable economic outlook," CR Forex Advisors MD Amit Pabari said. Further, Pabari said that with this the rupee is expected to appreciate as this will reduce the pressure on the domestic currency. On the domestic equity market, the 30-share <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="BSE Sensex" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="BSE Sensex">BSE Sensex</keyword> was trading 115.03 points, or 0.16 per cent higher at 73,219.64 points. The broader NSE Nifty was up 53.00 points, or 0.24 per cent, to 22,270.85 points. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Tuesday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 4,065.52 crore, according to exchange data. On the macroeconomic front, wholesale inflation rose to a 13-month high of 1.26 per cent in April fuelled by rising prices of food articles, especially vegetables, amid expectations of RBI holding interest rates in the policy review next month. Meanwhile, Moody's Ratings on Tuesday said the Indian economy is projected to expand 6.6 per cent in the current fiscal year and said strong credit demand fuelled by robust economic growth will support the NBFC sector's profitability.
