In a statement, Suzuki stated that it aims to recover its market share in India by introducing sports utility vehicles. It also noted that the automaker will focus on multiple technological pathways like CNG and hybrid cars and not solely depend on battery electric cars to contribute to carbon neutrality in the Indian market. "We want to contribute to carbon neutrality through a 'multi-path' that includes CNG vehicles, HEVs, etc., rather than focusing solely on BEVs," Suzuki Motor Corp said in a statement referring to the Indian market. The Japanese automaker said its operating profit increased by 159.1 billion yen year on year (83.1 per cent) to 350.6 billion in FY 2022. Suzuki stated that consolidated net sales and profits increased in the last year, mainly owing to the impact of the exchange rates and an increase in volume in markets like India, <keyword id="6355311" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="japan" source="Orion">Japan</keyword> and <keyword id="12925" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="africa" source="Orion">Africa</keyword>. On a consolidated basis, the profit attributable to owners of the parent increased by 60.8 billion yen (37.9 per cent) to 221.1 billion yen, the automaker stated. In the current fiscal year, the company expects net sales of 4.9 trillion yen, up 5.6 per cent from FY2022 mainly due to an increase in volume, Suzuki stated. Operating profit is expected to be 330 billion yen, down 5.9 per cent from FY2022, due to factors such as increased growth investment to realise the company's growth strategy, as well as the strong yen and increase in raw material prices, it added. The company sold a total of 19,66,164 vehicles last fiscal, despite missing production of about 1,70,000 units due to a shortage of electronic components. This translated to a growth of 19 per cent over FY22 sales volume of 16,52,653 vehicles. Expect India sales to be higher than industry growth this fiscal: Suzuki Motor

The country's largest carmaker <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India (MSI) witnessed a massive over two-fold drop in <keyword id="22637" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="production" source="Orion">production</keyword> last month owing to the shortage of semiconductor chips. In a regulatory filing, the auto major reported total production of 81,278 units in September as compared with 1,66,086 units in September 2020. "Production volume of the company in September 2021 was affected due to electronic components shortage," it noted. MSI said total passenger vehicle production stood at 77,782 units last month, as against 1,61,668 units in September 2020. Production of <keyword id="913938" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mini-cars" source="Orion">mini cars</keyword> comprising Alto and S-Presso models stood at 17,163 units last month as against 30,492 units a year ago. Similarly, manufacturing of compact cars, comprising WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire, declined to 29,272 units from 90,924 units earlier, MSI said. Production of utility vehicles -- Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and XL6 -- dropped to 21,873 units last month from 26,648 units in the corresponding month of 2020. The company also reported a drop in the production of its Eeco van at 8,025 units last month as compared with 11,183 units in September 2020. MSI said production of its light commercial vehicle Super Carry stood at 3,496 units last month, as against 4,418 units in the year-ago month. MSI had reported a 8 per cent drop in total production in August on a yearly basis at 1,13,937 units. On August 31, the auto major had announced that it expects total vehicle production in September across its plants in <keyword id="41646" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Haryana" source="Orion">Haryana</keyword> and Gujarat to be just 40 per cent of the normal output due to the semiconductor shortage. The company's production capacity at Gurgaon and Manesar plants in Haryana is around 15 lakh units per annum. Besides, Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Japan's <keyword id="100743" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="suzuki-motor-corporation" source="Orion">Suzuki Motor Corporation</keyword>, has an additional installed production capacity of 7.5 lakh units per annum. SMG supplies cars exclusively to MSI. Semiconductors are silicon chips that cater to control and memory functions in products ranging from automobiles, computers and cell phones to various other electronic items. The usage of semiconductors in the auto industry has gone up globally in recent times with new models coming with more and more electronic features such as Bluetooth connectivity and driver-assist, navigation and hybrid-electric systems. Maruti Suzuki reports over two-fold dip in production in September

New Delhi, Automobile major <keyword id="6365618" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-suzuki-india">Maruti Suzuki India</keyword> has commenced export of Suzuki's compact off-roader Jimny from India. Accordingly, the first shipment of 184 units left from <keyword id="46519" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mundra-Port">Mundra port</keyword> to Latin American countries such as Columbia and Peru. Besides, the three-door <keyword id="6610627" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="suzuki-jimny">Suzuki Jimny</keyword> will also be exported to the Middle East and African markets from India, the company said on Wednesday. The current generation of Jimny was launched in 2018 by <keyword id="100743" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suzuki-Motor-Corporation">Suzuki Motor Corporation</keyword> in Japan. The all-terrain vehicle has a legacy of over 50 years, catering to customers worldwide. According to the company, with India as a production base for Jimny, Suzuki aims to leverage <keyword id="44883" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword>'s global production stature. The company pointed out that there is a large customer demand worldwide well beyond Suzuki Japan capacity for this model and the Indian manufacturing will supplement capacity to meet this global demand. "Jimny manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's Gurugram plant shares the same specification as the export models produced at the Suzuki Motor Corporation's Kosai plant in Japan," said Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director &amp; CEO, Maruti Suzuki India. Maruti begins the export of its 'made in India' compact off-roader SUV Jimny

"So why did <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=suzuki">Suzuki</a> fire its entire Marketing and Sales team in India?", a journalist asked with a smile. "Why don't you ask Atul? Maybe the rumours were true!", he laughed. That's <keyword id="3285269" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Masayoshi">Masayoshi</keyword>, the India MD of <keyword id="6911" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="suzuki">Suzuki</keyword> two-wheelers. 
	Business Insider sat down with Masayoshi to discuss Suzuki, competition and its iconic <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=hayabusa">Hayabusa</a>:

	What's the way forward for Suzuki in India?

	India is a very important market. I'd like to concentrate more on the big motorcycle segment, much like many European and American markets.

	What would drive Suzuki's growth in India?

	Definitely not Super-bikes. The affordable premium segment, and scooters primarily.

	What caused the shift to racier motorcycles?

	The Gixxer. The design was unlike earlier motorcycles. Very sporty. Younger people in India love the power.

	Suzuki's current India market share.

	I'm not worried so much about market share. After all, we only have an 8 year history here. My priority is to make the company profitable first. We achieved it this fiscal.

	Why did you decide to assemble the <keyword id="171930" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="hayabusa">Hayabusa</keyword> in India?

	If we assemble it here rather than ship a CBU unit, the price goes down. That was the intention.

	What hike in sales do you expect for the Hayabusa?

	I expect around 1.5 times hike in terms of volume.

	Any plans to make the Hayabusa in India?

	None whatsoever. The Hayabusa is our flagship model, and we can't afford to have quality issues with parts.

	Can Suzuki be like a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=maruti">Maruti </a>for Motorbikes?

	Not till Bajaj, TVS and Honda are there in the segment.

'Expect 1.5 times sales hike for Hayabusa in India' : Suzuki MD

<keyword id="100743" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Suzuki-Motor-Corporation">Suzuki Motor Corporation</keyword>'s 85-year-old CEO <keyword id="130099" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Osamu-Suzuki">Osamu Suzuki</keyword> named his eldest son <keyword id="392681" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Toshihiro-Suzuki">Toshihiro Suzuki</keyword> as the new <keyword id="2540" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="President">president</keyword> of <keyword id="6355311" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Japan">Japan</keyword>'s fourth-biggest car maker, easing investor concerns over the company's succession plan and boosting its shares. Toshihiro took over the role from his father as president and chief operating officer on Tuesday. Osamu Suzuki remains the <keyword id="150485" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="CEO-and-Chairman">CEO and chairman</keyword> of the company, reported the Economic Times. 

	The company also announced its new mid-term plan, where it gave a heavy weight to its Indian subsidiary in its future growth prospects.
 Suzuki said it will try to achieve 3.4 million vehicles sales by the end of the decade aiming to grow at a <keyword id="107168" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="CAGR">CAGR</keyword> of 3% by 2020. Asia is expected to contribute over 64% (2.2 million) of its global volumes by then and India will contribute a lion's share of 58% or 2 million annual sales volumes by then. 

	India contributed around 43% of Suzuki's global sales and 30% of its consolidated profits in FY-15. 
 The Japanese automaker said it expects the passenger vehicle market in India to grow at a compounded rate of 11% for the next five years to 5 million units and become the third largest passenger vehicle market globally by 2020 and Suzuki expects Indian base to retain its high 45% <keyword id="34527" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="market-share">market share</keyword>, despite stiff competition. K Ayukawa, MD &amp; CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited told ET: "The SMC medium term plan puts high focus on India, which is very positive. Mr T Suzuki has been a <keyword id="151565" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="board-member">board member</keyword> of <keyword id="244571" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="MSIL">MSIL</keyword> since October 2013 and has a very good understanding of our business. Overall, SMC's commitment to India remains unchanged". 

	The local Indian subsidiary will not only act as a key production base, but its Japanese parent wants the India operations to globalise the brand further by exporting to newer markets. 
 

	Suzuki Motor Corporation said it will launch 20 new products in the coming five years which may also include full model changes of existing cars and it wants to make India a long term development base by co-developing more with Indian engineers.

Suzuki Motor heir takes over as the new president

Japanese car maker <keyword id="20032993" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suzuki" source="keywords">Suzuki</keyword> Motor Corporation on Monday said it will continue to expand SUV portfolio in India to recover its overall market share in the passenger vehicle segment. The company, which currently has around 58 per cent stake in <keyword id="44883" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maruti-Suzuki" source="Orion">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> India, said its net sales increased by 732.6 billion yen (15.8 per cent) year-on-year to 5,374.3 billion yen for the last financial year. Operating profit increased by 115 billion yen (32.8 per cent) YoY to 465.6 billion yen. "We will continue to promote the expansion of our SUV models (in India) and aim to recover our total passenger car share," Suzuki Motor Corporation said in a statement. Currently, <keyword id="19950117" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti" source="keywords">Maruti</keyword> Suzuki sells SUV (sport utility vehicle) models like Brezza, Jimny and Grand Vitara in the domestic market. The company's market share has come down to around 42 per cent from over 50 per cent a couple of years back in the domestic passenger vehicle segment on account of limited options in the SUV segment. With the market demand rising for SUVs, the company is in the process of bolstering its presence in the segment and regaining its market share. Suzuki Motor Corp said that in April 2024, a new production line with an annual capacity of 1 lakh units started operations at the Manesar plant. The company said it plans to secure a production capacity of around 40 lakh units in India by FY2030. Suzuki Motor Corp said it expects record sales and profits this fiscal due to higher unit sales. "The company is compiling strategies in various fields, including technology, and will announce the new mid-term management plan by the end of FY2024," it stated. Suzuki says will continue to expand SUV portfolio to recover mkt share in India

New Delhi, Mar 4 () Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it has collaborated with IIT Guwahati (IITG), Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), Japan and Suzuki Motor Corporation for promotion of technical education and training. The institutional collaboration will facilitate promotion of education and training covering engineering courses and internship programmes in both India and Japan, the company said in a statement. It will also promote research for next generation technologies for benefit of both the countries, it added. An MoU was exchanged among the four parties at IIT Guwahati in the presence of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India Satoshi Suzuki. Commenting on the collaboration, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said,"This institutional collaboration will help us prepare students wider technical roles. Internship exposures at global and local levels will make students ready for global and local roles." It is a fine example of academia, industry and students coming together to create new benchmarks in technical education, he added. "I see this collaboration taking technical education to the next level," Ayukawa said. Under the collaboration, an engineering course, primarily related to automobiles, will be conducted by Suzuki Motor Corporation and MSI by providing training to students through lectures. As part of the curriculum Japanese language course will be conducted by AOTS. This course will be provided to students of IITG. AOTS, SMC and MSIL will arrange for faculty to conduct these at IITG, the statement said. Eligible students will be provided an opportunity of being placed for an internship at SMC's facility in Japan as well as at MSIL in India. This programme will help students gain both local and global exposure, it added. These initiatives are authorised by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as Japanese endowed course. Sharing his thoughts on the partnership, Suzuki said, "I hope the synergy among these partners will help create future engineers to lead India's manufacturing sector and to build new bridges of friendship between India and Japan." Maruti Suzuki, IIT Guwahati, AOTS Japan join hands for promotion of tech education

New Delhi, Nov 30 () The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India on Saturday said it has crossed milestone of 20 million passenger vehicle cumulative sales in the Indian market.
The company accomplished this landmark number in less than 37 years of selling its first car on December 14,1983, when it first rolled out the iconic Maruti 800, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.
The company said while it crossed 10 million vehicle sales in nearly 29 years, the next 10 million passenger vehicles were sold in a record time of 8 years.
Commenting on the milestone, MSI Managing Director &amp; CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said, "We are overwhelmed with this new record. Achieving this milestone is a great accomplishment for Maruti Suzuki, as well as our suppliers and dealer partners".
MSI said it has introduced factory fitted CNG vehicles as well as smart hybrid vehicles, in addition to eight BS6 models rolled out much ahead of the stipulated timelines.
It along with its parent, Suzuki Motor Corporation, plans to introduce a small EV for the Indian market. Currently, it is road testing 50 electric Vehicle prototypes across the country to check their real-life performance in multiple terrains and varied climatic conditions, it added. RKL BAL

Here’s a list of stocks to watch for in trade on September 11: Reliance Industries and Future Retail Mukesh Ambani led RIL has clarified on the circulating news report about the company selling Amazon $20 billion stakes in its retail arm. RIL said, “we do not comment on media speculation and rumours, and we cannot confirm or deny any transaction which may or may not be in the works.” This may also move the shares of Mukesh Ambani’s recently acquired Future Retail. Bank of Baroda and Union Bank The Bank of Baroda reduced Marginal cost of funds-based lending rate (MCLR) between 5-30 basis points across various tenors with effect from September 12. The Union Bank of India also decided to reduce the MCLR by up to 5 basis points across tenors. One hundred basis points make 1%. The shares of Bank of Baroda closed 3% higher yesterday, whereas Union Bank gained 2%. Info Edge Info Edge said its investee company Zomato had raised $160 million (₹1,173 crore) in funding from Tiger Global and Temasek Holdings subsidiary MacRitchie Investments, valuing the online food ordering platform at $3.3 billion. But it’s only now that the country’s largest carmaker looking to throw in its hat into the ring. <keyword id="44883" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maruti-Suzuki">Maruti Suzuki</keyword> is <a href="https://www.news18.com/news/auto/exclusive-electric-maruti-suzuki-wagon-r-spotted-testing-ahead-of-launch-next-year-1996651.html">reportedly</a> testing the electric version of the good ol’ Wagon R on the Indian roads, although the car will be officially launched in 2020. The launch of Maruti’s electric car will be significant because of the scale that the company brings to the table. Maruti Suzuki saw a domestic sale of 1.3 million until December, 2018 and has over 2000 sales outlets spread across the length and breadth of the country. The brand, with a history of over 37 years in India, has proved that it still has resonance amongst millions of Indians despite the entry of fancy foreign peers. “They might not have the first mover advantage, but the expertise they have is unmatched. Not just distribution, they have a great hold over their brand loyalty and customer development channels, which is also their USP,” said Pranav Jain, an automobile consultant. The pioneer in the segment has been Mahindra &amp; Mahindra with cars like e20, eVerito and eSupro already being commercially sold, while other rivals like Tata finding a foothold in the market with cars like Tata Tigor EV. However, access to these vehicles, recharging stations, and service centres after purchase are crucial factors in the consumers’ decision to purchase. Maruti is a better pick based on these factors than other players because of its existing network in the country. However, the company has taken its time to join the race. Osamu Suzuki, Chairman, Suzuki Motor corporation, during his visit to India for the <a href="https://www.firstpost.com/business/global-mobility-summit-suzuki-motor-corp-to-start-road-test-of-electric-vehicles-next-month-says-chairman-5136281.html">Global Mobility Summit</a> in September had announced that the company will launch 50 EV prototype vehicles in India. The idea behind the testing is to develop safe and easy-to-use EVs for the Indian roads. The Indian Electric Vehicle market saw a growth of 124 per cent with 56,000 units sold in fiscal year 2017-18, but they hold a <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Politics/1x96WeyG6cCVnm5zPcUraK/Govt-proposes-incentives-to-boost-EVsalesin5-years.html">mere 1% </a>of total vehicles sold in India. However, the major share was held by electric two-wheelers with 54,800 units sold reportedly. The sales of electric cars took a mere 1200 units, according to a report done by <a href="https://auto.ndtv.com/news/electric-car-sales-in-india-fall-in-fy18-electric-two-wheelers-record-healthy-growth-1934323">the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles. </a> Currently, the electric vehicles market in India faces a massive infrastructural problem due to the lack of charging stations (albeit they are slowly coming up in major cities like Bengaluru and Delhi). The government’s delay in bringing about an EV policy too has the industry in a fix. While the entry of big players will give the right impetus to a new generation of cars, the industry will also need a proactive solution from the centre.
