Then, there's the infrastructure layer, which is all about tools to gather and analyze data. Most of the investments also came before the generative AI boom that started after ChatGPT's launch, meaning billions of dollars of investment has gone to companies not exactly tailored to the tech of the moment.So it's become clear that Son's focus has fallen on the other part of his AI investment stack.In September 2023, Son took a big step forward in the hardware layer by successfully relisting Arm. Son could look to compete on chip design by building a venture to rival Nvidia, the $2.9 trillion chip giant that his company lost huge gains on after dumping its near 5% stake back in 2019. Two of View's longtime investors Cantor Fitzgerald and real estate firm RXR have taken the company private. Cantor sponsored the special purpose acquisition company that merged with View to take it public, raising $815 million. On August 22, the financial-services firm agreed to a $12 million settlement to end a lawsuit by SPAC investors who alleged they were misled. Cantor did not reply to a request for comment in time for publication. According to a separate memo sent to employees Friday morning, two board members will run View as co-CEOs: Joshua Spellman, chief of staff at Cantor, and Andrew Min, a senior vice president at RXR. Brainbees Solutions re-filed preliminary papers with Sebi in May after the company was directed by the regulator to re-file the draft papers, citing insufficient disclosure of key performance indicators (KPIs), market sources had said. The company's key performance indicators include its number of orders, average order value and annual transacting customers. Unicommerce's issue is entirely an offer for sale (OFS) aggregating up to 2.98 crore equity shares by the selling shareholders. Under the OFS, SB Investment Holdings (UK) Ltd, an affiliate of Japan's SoftBank, will offload 1.61 crore shares, promoter AceVector Limited (formerly known as Snapdeal Limited) will sell up to 1.14 crore shares, and B2 Capital Partners will be selling up to 22 lakh shares. FirstCry's parent firm Brainbees Solutions gets Sebi's go ahead to float IPO

Softbank-backed <keyword id="19901637" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OYO" source="keywords">OYO</keyword> is set to refile its much-awaited <keyword id="19898327" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO" source="keywords">IPO</keyword> as the global travel tech player is close to finalising its refinancing plans to raise up to USD 450 million via sale of dollar bonds, sources said. JP Morgan is the likely lead banker for the refinancing through the sale of dollar bonds at an estimated interest rate of 9 to 10 per cent per annum, a source said. In preparation for the refinancing, OYO has already moved its application with markets regulator <keyword id="19901201" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="SEBI" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="SEBI" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="SEBI">SEBI</keyword> to withdraw its current draft red herring prospectus (<keyword id="19914966" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DRHP" source="keywords">DRHP</keyword>). The company intends to refile an updated version of the DRHP, after the bond issuance. Oravel Stays Ltd, OYO's parent company, had in November prepaid a significant chunk of its debt amounting to Rs 1,620 crore through a buyback process. The buyback involved repurchasing 30 per cent of its outstanding Term Loan B of USD 660 million. The move brought down its outstanding loan amount to around USD 450 million. A source closely involved in the company's IPO plans told PTI, "The refinancing will result in material changes to OYO's financial statements. Hence as per existing regulations, it will need to revise its filings with the regulator". "Since the decision for refinancing is at an advanced stage, it doesn't make sense to continue pursuing IPO approval with the current financials. So it's prudent to withdraw the current application," he added. The refinancing will extend the repayment timeline to five years -- versus the repayment of the remaining TLB due in 2026 -- the source said. The bond issuance would significantly lower the current effective interest rate of 14 per cent on its existing USD 450 million Term Loan B (TLB) facility. "The refinancing is expected to result in annual interest savings of USD 8-10 million (Rs 66.4-83 crore) in the first year, after accounting for the costs associated with the bond issuance. The company anticipates annual savings of USD 15-17 million (Rs 124.5 -141.1 crore) thereafter, almost all of which would get added to its net profits. Post the debt refinancing, the company is open to contemplating an equity round, to reaffirm investor confidence before a public listing to fortify its financial strength," the source said. In September 2021, OYO had filed preliminary documents with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for a Rs 8,430 crore IPO. The launching of the IPO was delayed due to the then volatile market conditions making the company prepare to settle for a lower valuation at around USD 4-6 billion instead of the USD 11 billion it was targeting initially. The Reserve Bank Of India has ordered its payments bank subsidiary to stop accepting fresh deposits in its accounts or popular wallets from March onwards on Wednesday. PayTM has a 49% stake in Paytm Payment Bank whose future is now uncertain. “Our key concern, unlike previous directives, is that the RBI has not, so far, made any comments around potential steps towards a resolution, suggesting to us that the directive could stay in place for the foreseeable future,” said Goldman Sachs. Paytm has a significant dependency on PPBL for nodal accounts used for merchant payment settlements,” said Axis Capital. The transition from its payments bank to third party banks won’t be so easy either. As much as 34% of all payments for Paytm has been channelized through PPBL in FY23. It has been running as an integrated business for a long time now. Even if they bring in third-party banks easily, it will face challenges of shifting the nodal accounts to other banks. It will also have to replace the QR codes, powered by PPBL, for offline merchants Analysts see an immediate earnings impact on its payments business. “We have now assumed a 10% decline in its Consumer Payments business (21% of total revenue) in FY25 and thus would impact the overall revenue impact of 4% cut in our overall revenue estimates for FY25 and FY26 respectively,” said Dolat Capital. They also fear long-reaching consequences, with a spillover impact on other businesses such like payment aggregation and lending. Lending is one of its fastest growing businesses, and disbursements could be impacted. Investors like Alibaba, <keyword id="19944037" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="softbank" source="keywords">Softbank</keyword> and Morgan Stanley Investment Management have pared their holdings in the company too. Investors sold off as much as ₹5,880 crore in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/block-deal-bonanza-for-investors-as-bull-run-continues/articleshow/106024422.cms">four large block deals in 2023</a>. Consequently, on a year on year basis, the foreign investor holdings in the tech major came down to 63.7% as of December 2023 end. They stood at 72.8% as of December 2022. Yet, they continue to remain the largest shareholders in the company with investors like <keyword id="20427450" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="saif-partners" source="keywords">SAIF Partners</keyword>, Resilient Asset Management B V and others holding significant stake in the company. Domestic and retail investor holdings in the company had gone up in the same period. Mutual funds and other domestic institutional holdings almost doubled in the last one year to 5.39% as compared to 1.79% in the same time a year ago. Nippon Mutual Funds and Mirae Mutual Funds hold 1.05% and 2.51%, respectively.

Paytm stock searches for a new bottom despite assurances by the management

Integrated logistics provider <keyword id="11931339" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhivery" source="Orion">Delhivery</keyword> on Friday saw 2.51 per cent of its shares worth Rs 747 crore exchanging hands in a block deal, with Japanese investment giant <keyword id="163404" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="softbank" source="Orion">SoftBank</keyword> as likely seller. Around 1.8 crore shares of Delhivery changed hands at Rs 403 per share. Moneycontrol was on Thursday first to report about Softbank's move to sell some of its stake in the logistics firm in a block deal valued at $150 million. Before the block sale, SoftBank, via its subsidiary Svf Doorbell (Cayman), had a 14.6 per cent stake in the logistics firm. The Delhivery stock was hovering around Rs 402.5 in early trade. Over the past few months, Softbank has divested its stake in <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> and Policybazaar's parent company PB Fintech. Logistics services provider Delhivery's net loss in the September quarter (Q3) of the current financial year was more than halved to Rs 103 crore, while revenue increased by 8 per cent to Rs 1,942 crore, despite higher inflation and fund crunch. The company reported a loss of Rs 254 crore and revenue of Rs 1,796 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Last month, nearly 9.28 crore equity shares of online food delivery platform Zomato worth Rs 1,040 crore were offloaded in a bulk deal, likely by SoftBank. SoftBank, via its affiliate SVF Growth (Singapore) Pte, likely sold 1.09 per cent stake in Zomato in the bulk deal. Shares exchanged hands at an average price of Rs 111.20. SoftBank held a 2.17 per cent stake in Zomato (by September 2023 quarter).
