<ul><li>The recent government data shows a rise in officers voluntarily retiring from <keyword id="112134" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Armed-Forces">Indian Armed Forces</keyword>. </li><li>Indian Army has the highest <keyword id="505875" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="attrition-rate">attrition rate</keyword>, followed by <keyword id="15141" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> at the second place and <keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword> in the last. </li><li>While Indian Air Force and Indian Navy’s attrition rate dropped in 2018, Indian Army saw a rise of almost 30 more cases in the same year. </li></ul>The number of people taking voluntary retirement from Indian Armed Forces is also rising, in addition to posts lying vacant. The rate of voluntary retirements is the highest in the Indian Army, and is rising. With 412 officers voluntarily retiring in 2018, the number has been gradually increasing with 353 officers leaving in 2016 and 383 in 2017, <a href="http://pib.nic.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1576432">according to PIB press release</a>. Indian Air Force stands at the second place when it comes to attrition rate. In 2016, 186 officers left the force voluntarily. While the number increased in 2017 to reach 205, it came down to 184 in 2018. The attrition rate is the lowest in the Indian Navy with 102 officers retiring prematurely in 2018. This number has come down from 138 retirement cases in 2016 and 137 cases in 2017. This does not bode well with the fact that the Indian Army is already <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/the-indian-army-is-facing-a-shortage-of-45634-posts-out-of-which-7399-posts-are-for-commissioned-ranks/articleshow/69968673.cms">facing manpower shortage</a>. As many as 49,000 posts are lying vacant which includes 7,399 posts for officers. “The government has taken a number of measures to reduce the shortages including sustained image projection, participation in career fairs and exhibitions and publicity campaign to create awareness among the youth,” <a href="http://pib.nic.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1576432">said</a> Mr <keyword id="347762" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shripad-Naik">Shripad Naik</keyword>, Minister of State for Defence. Indian Armed Forces see a growing number of those taking voluntary retirement

Yoga Minister Shripad Yesso Naik is planning a yoga competition on the lines of Olympics in Delhi. 
 
"We are thinking about having an Olympic-type yoga competition in Delhi this year for two days before June 21,” said the minister. 
 
Naik said the competition will generate interest in the young generation. 
 
So, if you think you can do sun salutations (surya namaskars) and touch your ear with your toe, this one is for you.

An Olympics for Yoga in India!

<keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword>'s <keyword id="10262545" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fifth-scorpene-class-submarine">fifth Scorpene class submarine</keyword> '<keyword id="7597040" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="vagir">Vagir</keyword>' was launched on Thursday at Mumbai's Mazagon Dock. Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik launched the submarine through video conferencing. Vagir is part of the six Kalvari-class submarines being built in India. The submarines, designed by French naval defence and energy company DCNS, are being built as part of Indian Navy's Project-75. INS Kalvari, the first of the six Scorpene-class submarines, was launched in 2017, followed by Khanderi, Karanj and Vela. These submarines can undertake missions like anti- <keyword id="7584329" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Surface-warfare">surface warfare</keyword>, <keyword id="1137331" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="anti-submarine-warfare">anti-submarine warfare</keyword>, intelligence gathering, mine laying, and area surveillance, an official said. Indian Navy's fifth Scorpene class submarine Vagir launched at Mumbai's Mazagon Dock

New Delhi, Mar 11 () India-made bulletproof jackets are being exported to 18 countries, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik said on Wednesday but declined to name the nations citing "strategic requirements". Naik said industrial licences have been issued to 15 companies for manufacturing bulletproof jackets having production capacity in the country of over 10 lakh pieces per annum to meet domestic and export requirements. "Bulletproof jackets are also being exported to 18 countries. In view of the strategic requirement, names of the countries are not disclosed," Naik added. Replying to another question, Naik said that in order to export light combat aircraft to other friendly countries, the platform has been showcased by way of flying displays at various foreign exhibitions by Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd. Briefing about the platform has been given to various foreign delegations who have visited HAL facilities. "The company has responded to Request for Information (RFI) from overseas. Formal Request for Quotation (RFQ) has not been received in order to process the proposal," he added. Responding to another question, he said an amount of Rs 90,048 crore has been proposed for capital acquisition (modernisation) in budget estimate (BE) 2020-21 under Defence Services Estimates, which is an increase of Rs 9,088.92 crore over BE 2019-20. The total amount allocated for capital acquisition (modernisation) is 27.87 per cent of Defence Services Estimates. In response to another question on China's defence modernisation, Naik said no official data relating to this was with the ministry. Naik, replying to another question, said the Army saw four cases of fratricide from 2017 to 2019, while the Air Force recorded one such case in 2019. The minister said the government has taken several steps towards stress amelioration amongst troops. This includes deployment of trained psychological counsellors, improvement in the quality of food and clothing, training in stress management, provision of recreational facilities, buddy system, leave concessions, approachability of seniors, facilities for movement of troops from border areas and establishing a grievance redressal mechanism at various levels. Meet the new cabinet ministers in the Modi government 2.0

India’s food regulator, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Food+Safety+and+Standards+Authority+of+India">Food Safety and Standards Authority of India</a> (FSSAI) has rejected product approval applications of Tata Starbucks, Kellogg and McCain due to lack of sufficient supporting documents. 
 
"FSSAI has rejected product approval applications of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Starbucks">Tata Starbucks</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Kellogg">Kellogg</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=McCain">McCain</a> due to lack of sufficient supporting documents for safety/risk assessment," Minister of state for Health Shripad Naik said. 
 
While 34 products of Tata Starbucks have been rejected which included honey vanilla flavoured syrup, sea salt and red bean sauce, two products of Kelloggs including Kellogg's special K Red Berries and special K Oats and Honey have also been rejected. 
 
The only product of McCain Foods India which was rejected was McCain Battered Pepper and Cheese Bites. 
 
The Minister said that the primary responsibility of FSSAI is to lay down science based food standards, make regulations, regulate imports and undertake coordination with states and UTs on food safety. 
 
"In cases where samples are found to be non-compliant, action is taken as per provisions of the FSS Act 2006 by the state authorities or the FSSAI," Naik added.
