New Delhi, Jan 22 () The Finance Ministry will showcase achievements of the financial inclusion drive through a tableau during the Republic Day parade on January 26.
 The Defence Ministry has selected the design of Department of Financial Services (DFS) of Ministry of Finance for taking part in the parade.
 Besides DFS, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, NDRF Ministry of Home Affairs, CPWD Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and Ministry of Shipping will also participate in the Republic Day parade, according to a Defence Ministry release.
 Financial inclusion programme initiated in mission mode since August 2014 to ensure access to financial services - banking/ savings &amp; deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, pension.
Under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana as many as 37.87 crore accounts have been opened with total deposit of Rs 1.12 lakh crore.
 India's financial inclusion efforts have won recognition from the World Bank as their data indicated that 55 per cent of new bank accounts were opened are from India.
As per the World Bank Global Findex Report 2017, adult bank account holders in India increased to 80 per cent in 2017 as compared to 53 per cent in 2014 and 35 per cent in 2011.
The report acknowledged impact of government policy in reducing gaps in bank account ownership between rich and poor to 5 per cent in 2017, down from 15 per cent in 2014.
 Besides, the government also initiated insuring the uninsured. Under this, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana was launched in 2015.
 The PMJJBY offers life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh in case of death due to any reason to people in the age group of 18-50 years having a bank or post office account, who give their consent to join or enable auto-debit of premium of Rs 330 per annum.
The PMSBY offers insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh for accidental death or total permanent disability and Rs 1 lakh for partial permanent disability to people in the age group of 18-70 years with a bank or post office account, who give their consent to join or enable auto-debit of premium of Rs 12 per annum. The national capital was today brought under an unprecedented ground-to-air security cover with thousands of armed personnel keeping a tight vigil for the 67th <keyword id="6416557" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Republic-day">Republic Day</keyword> celebrations where French President Francois Hollande was the chief guest. 
 The area around Central <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> was turned into virtual fortress in view of intelligence inputs that terror groups may target some important installations in the city. 
 
Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, central security agencies and NIA busted a module by arresting 14 militants linked to terror group ISIS. 
 
The group had planned to carry out sensational strikes at important installations and its members had also visited the national capital, official sources said. 
 
Commandos with light machine guns were deployed at 10 strategic locations and anti-aircraft guns remained positioned at two vantage points in the capital. 
 
The entire region of Central and New Delhi had nearly 50,000 security personnel drawn from Delhi Police and central security forces guarding every nook and corner. 
 Special arrangements were made at the historic Rajpath where <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>'s military might was on display. 
 Hollande was seated along with Mukherjee and host of VVIPs including Vice President <keyword id="6491214" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hamid-Ansari">Hamid Ansari</keyword> and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 
 
The enclosure of the VVIPs was put under a multi-layer security ring with Presidential Guards and officials of SPG and NSG guarding the two inner-most orbits and Delhi Police entrusted with guarding the outermost circle, said a senior official. 
 
Special patrolling teams, comprising three officials including a commando, were deployed in New Delhi area within two-kilometer radius from India Gate. 
 
Senior officials said snipers have been put on 45 buildings overlooking Rajpath besides providing a similar cover along all the buildings along the parade route. 
 Gunners have been given clear instructions to bring down any aerial object flying without permission. A 'NOTAM' (Notice to Airmen) has been declared from 10.35 AM to 12.15 PM during which no flights will land or take off at the <keyword id="6354478" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indira-Gandhi">Indira Gandhi</keyword> International Airport. 
 
"Specially trained police personnel with light machine guns have been deployed at 10 strategic spots in New Delhi area," a senior police official said. 
 
Officials said anti-aircraft guns have been deployed at two vantage points to ward off any threat from the sky. 
 
A special control room has been monitoring as many as 15,000 CCTV cameras installed across Central and New Delhi, with 200 high-tech digital cameras installed in the parade route, an official said. 
 As many as 1,000 traffic officials have been issued revolvers so that they can deal with any untoward incident amid heavy <keyword id="84008" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Security-arrangements">security arrangements</keyword> across the city involving around 25,000 police officials. 
 
The airspace will remain out of bounds for commercial flights arriving and departing out of the IGI airport here between 10.35 AM and 12.15 PM tomorrow. "Around 60 arrivals and departures take place at the IGI airport during this period, for which the notice was issued by the Airports Authority of India," a senior official said. 
 
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has set up a wireless integrated public address (WIPA) system to enhance security at croswded places and popular markets in the city. WIPA is a centralised public address system now installed at 31 crowded places and markets in Delhi, and also in 13 major metro stations. 
 
The national capital is already on high alert after inputs were received about the presence of key members of several terror groups in Delhi. 
 
In an inter-state coordination meeting held earlier this month, Delhi Police Chief B S Bassi had asked his force and police departments of neighbouring states to keep a vigilant eye on drones, as they have been perceived as a major threat to security, said a senior police official.

Massive security arrangements in Delhi ahead of Republic Day parade

<keyword id="2711500" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="French-soldiers">French soldiers</keyword> on Tuesday took part in the <keyword id="6416557" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Republic-day">Republic Day</keyword> parade at the <keyword id="100735" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Rajpath">Rajpath</keyword>, creating history as it was for the first time that a foreign army contingent took part in the celebrations. 
 The soldiers of the <keyword id="3220561" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="35th-Infantry-Regiment">35th Infantry Regiment</keyword>, which was deployed in <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> between 1781 and 1784, was led by Lieutenant Colonel Paul Bury. 
 French President <keyword id="715206" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Francois-Hollande">Francois Hollande</keyword> is the chief guest for Republic Day parade. 
 The French contingent marched on the Rajpath and they followed Lt. Gen. Rajan Ravindran, General Officer Commanding, <keyword id="66" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> Area. They were preceded by a band, including 48 musicians, led by Major Jean-Claude Leberruyer. 
 
The infantry contingent had 75 soldiers.

For the first time in India, French soldiers take part in the Republic Day parade

After a gap of 26 years, <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> dogs, who are well-trained in sniffing bombs, zeroing in on enemies and have saved lives of many soldiers during operations, will march down Rajpath on Republic Day. 
 
Thirty nine dogs will take part in the parade, even show stunts on January 26, and have been training hard for the same.

Murgunde is a member of the government's Mission Olympic Cell member. "As I had earlier announced, the Oversight Committee will not only handle the day-to-day functioning of the WFI but also inquire into the serious allegations made by the wrestlers and submit a report," Sports Minister Anurag Thakur told the media on Monday. Thakur had on Saturday announced the formation of the Oversight Committee to handle the day-to-day activities of the WFI after a group of wrestlers led by Olympians Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, Ravi Dhaiya and Deepak Punia sat on a protest at the Jantar Mantar here alleging many irregularities by WFI including mismanagement of governance and sexual harassment of women grapplers by coaches and the WFI president. At the same time, the government also suspended WFI assistant secretary <keyword id="2210825" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vinod-tomar" source="Orion">Vinod Tomar</keyword>. On Monday, Thakur informed that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been asked to cease functioning as WFI president till the inquiry by the Oversight Committee is completed and has been told not to interfere in the day-to-day functioning of the WFI. The Indian wrestlers had called off their protest late on Friday evening after a second meeting at Thakur's residence in the national capital. The meeting lasted beyond midnight, following which wrestler Bajrang Punia announced to the media that the other wrestlers are calling off the protest after assurance of action from Thakur against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). The wrestlers have been staging a protest since Wednesday, accusing WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment of women wrestlers, sponsorship fund embezzlement, and athletes' mismanagement.
