Both Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are manufactured at the Noida facility. "The Indian market is one of the markets where the foldable range is growing exponentially, and at the centre lies Galaxy foldables. "Particularly, making health AI possible on our new products like watches and foldables, the contribution and efforts of Indian R&amp;D centres were immense," Roh said. He further said that the company expects the market demand to grow this year and has high expectations around Indian customers and consumers adopting the new foldable range with the incorporation of optimised Galaxy AI. "We will come closer to the consumers through diverse initiatives like first-hand experience programmes, game-related promotional activities, and Olympic sponsorship-related activities as well," he said. Samsung in talks with component partners to boost ops in India: TM Roh

New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (<keyword id="6361994" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="NEET" source="Orion">NEET</keyword> PG) Examination on Saturday, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, and said that a fresh date will be announced at the earliest. The NEET-PG exams were scheduled to be held on June 23. "Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of the processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students," the ministry statement read. "It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure, to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held on 23rd June, 2024. The fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest," the ministry added. "The Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process," the health ministry said. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) was fully prepared to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Post-Graduate (PG) 2024. Speaking exclusively to ANI, Dr Rakesh Sharma, OSD to President and Member, Governing Body, NBEMS said, "All eyes of the nation are on NBEMS for the conduct of NEET PG 2024 and we will not let down the hope of the nation. We will conduct the test through a computer-based test (CBT) mode throughout the country." On Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for successfully delivering and maintaining transparency, he said, "NBEMS has robust SOPs for conducting exams because of which NBEMS has been successfully delivering the exams year after year. These SOPs are stringently followed. NBEMS has worked very hard on maintaining the secrecy of the question paper and there is no chance that there will be any leakage of the question paper." He further said that NBEMS is supported by medical colleges, faculty, MoHFW, Flying Squads, Deans and Principals, Vice-chancellor and other agencies, "NBEMS has support from various medical colleges, faculty, MoHFW and other agencies. NBEMS has already briefed the chief secretaries and DGP of all states for safe and secure conduct of the exam." "In order to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education constituted a High-Level Committee of Experts to make recommendations on Reform in mechanism of examination process improvement in data security protocols and the structure and functioning of National Testing Agency," the ministry said.

But this time, the unlucky patient had a cough and a sore throat, which is a new milestone for the virus's spread in the US.The H5N1 virus has become a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/bird-flu-avian-influenza-outbreak-us-h5n1-wiping-out-everything-2023-4">pandemic among animals</a>, raging through worldwide bird populations and now through US cattle herds.This latest human case, which the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed on Thursday, is the third known human case in the US, following one in Texas and another in Michigan.All three people are dairy-farm workers who were exposed to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/bird-flu-virus-chickens-cows-human-food-outbreaks-pandemic-2024-5">infected cows</a>, according to the CDC.The first two cases, however, involved only eye symptoms, including <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/health/treatments/pink-eye-treatment">conjunctivitis or pink eye</a>. That means the infection was probably limited to their eyes. Now, it has hit someone's lungs.The risk to the general public is still low, the CDC says, but these new symptoms suggest the virus may have entered a new phase of its flirtation with human infection.<h2 id="3e38b128-b335-4d91-85c2-ad38616292d6">Lungs give the virus more opportunity to adapt to humans</h2>The St. Jude virologist Richard Webby is a leading researcher on an H5 group of influenza viruses, which have been <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/egg-prices-poised-to-spike-again-thanks-to-avian-flu-2023-12">circulating in bird populations</a> for about 25 years.Since 2021, the H5N1 virus has branched out to new frontiers of sustained spread, infecting dolphins and porpoises, migrating to the Americas, culling sea lions and seals, and now spreading through <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/beef-prices-higher-drought-fewer-cattle-less-meat-2022-8">US cattle herds</a>.<div type="image" title="two people in white biohazard suits with masks and goggles handle a vial on a beach next to a dead porpoise" height="1500" width="2249" msid="110684142" hostid="261"></div>"This virus keeps on turning up surprises," Webby, who directs the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Studies on the Ecology of Influenza in Animals and Birds, told Business Insider. "Had you asked me, beginning of the year, what the chances are of H5 turning up in cows, I would have said exceedingly low."Still, he said, H5N1 is still more of a bird virus than a mammalian virus. That's mainly because of the receptors it binds to in order to enter its hosts' cells and replicate itself."Avian viruses bind to one form of this receptor on the host cell. Mammalian viruses bind to a different form," Webby said.The mucus lining the human eye (where the first farmworker got conjunctivitis) is rich in the receptors that avian viruses grab, he said. There, the H5N1 virus can continue operating as an avian virus, grabbing avian receptors with no need to adapt to human receptors.But our respiratory tracts are full of both forms of this receptor — the form preferred by avian viruses and the one preferred by mammalian viruses. Therefore, being in the lungs gives H5N1 more exposure to the receptors that mammalian viruses use, Webby said.That gives H5N1 more opportunity to sustain a mutation that would allow it to bind to those mammalian receptors, adapting better to human bodies.That's the concern, but it's not clear whether that has actually happened inside this patient's lungs. For such a mutation to be significant, it would then have to spread to other people as well. So far, based on all known cases, the virus has been unable to spread from one person to another.<h2 id="151bdecc-20ab-4244-9dd5-9542f3aca984">Sequencing the virus tests for mutations</h2>In a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/02/opinion/bird-flu-case-respiratory.html">New York Times</a> opinion piece on Sunday, the virologist Rick Bright argued that the emergence of respiratory symptoms indicated "a dangerous inflection point" for the virus.After all, he wrote, "coughing can spread viruses more easily than eye irritation can."<div type="image" title="A man coughing" height="1439" width="2084" msid="110684144" hostid="261"></div>But for Webby, the Michigan patient's cough "doesn't change a whole lot."Two previous one-off human cases of H5N1 — one in Chile and one in Ecuador — featured respiratory symptoms.The virus didn't necessarily have to mutate to infect the Michigan farmworker's respiratory system, Webby said. The person could have simply encountered a large amount of virus, maybe an especially ill cow."That's me sort of looking at the crystal ball a little," he said, adding that it was "the most likely explanation for what we're seeing, rather than the other one, which is of course much more scary, that this virus has already changed."Either way, scientists won't know if any scary mutations have occurred until they can examine the virus's genomic RNA sequence from this new case. But Webby said the patient carried such small amounts of the virus that it was possible the CDC wouldn't have enough to get the sequence.Genome sequences are critical. By checking the virus's genes in each new human case, no matter how mild the symptoms, scientists can identify any fresh mutations that help it adapt to humans. If H5N1 becomes a bona fide mammalian virus, they could watch its transformation in real time.<div type="image" title="blue gloved hands in a white lab coat hold a large syringe and a lab tube of fluid" height="1500" width="2250" msid="110684146" hostid="261"></div>"The very first signals we're going to get that this virus is changing are probably going to come from human infections," Webby said.So far, though, the government's monitoring may not be robust enough to spot those mutations early.<h2 id="3c3ea6d6-9c14-4a0d-8a69-ffacd711d1be">Scientists call for more testing so they won't miss mutations</h2>The Food and Drug Administration has detected fragments of the virus in commercial milk and beef. Public-health experts have told BI that though it's <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/bird-flu-milk-food-safety-former-surgeon-general-doctor-2024-4">unlikely food will infect you</a>, cautious people can cook their eggs and meats all the way. They said nobody should drink unpasteurized milk, aka raw milk.<div type="image" title="Cattle look at the camera in front of a hay feeder." height="1417" width="2117" msid="110684147" hostid="261"></div>The real risk is to people who work directly with sick animals, especially farmworkers such as the three who have been infected so far.The CDC's principal deputy director, Nirav Shah, told the press in a briefing on Thursday that the government was monitoring about 350 people nationwide who might have been exposed to H5N1, most of them in Michigan. But <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/30/health/bird-flu-infection-farmworker.html">The New York Times</a> reported that only about 40 farmworkers had been tested for the virus."We would like to be doing more testing," Shah said, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.statnews.com/2024/05/30/bird-flu-third-case-human-infection-caused-respiratory-symptoms/">STAT News</a>.Bright argues that the government's weak testing regime could be allowing farmworker infections to fly under the radar.<div type="image" title="man with turkeys inside coop. sign outside reads 'biosecurity area - no admittance w/o owner permission" height="1400" width="2100" msid="110684148" hostid="261"></div>But undetected cases aren't the same thing as undetected spread.Bright's essay rings alarm bells about unknown human-to-human transmission, but Webby finds that unlikely. Even with its current monitoring, the CDC would probably detect sustained human spread, he said.Rather, the problem with undetected cases is that nobody can sequence their samples. Those are windows into the virus's genome (and possible mutations) that nobody is peeking through.Webby and Bright agree that scientists need more sequences of the virus more quickly. For example, Bright said that despite the ongoing herd spread, the Department of Agriculture hadn't shared a new sequence from a cow infection sample in weeks."Bottom line is we need to have more information from exactly what this virus is doing," Webby said. The flight will mark Williams' third space mission. According to NASA, the flight to the orbiting International Space Station (<keyword id="20307956" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ISS" source="keywords">ISS</keyword>) is scheduled to lift off from Florida's Kennedy Space Centre around 10 pm Indian Standard Time today. 'Suni' Williams and fellow NASA <keyword id="20248602" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="astronaut" source="keywords">astronaut</keyword> Barry 'Butch' Wilmore will be the first humans to go aboard Starliner spacecraft as part of the US space agency's Commercial Crew Program. The Starliner spacecraft will be catapulted into space on an Atlas 5 rocket of the rocket company United Launch Alliance (ULA). It will dock with the ISS on Sunday and the astronauts will be at the ISS conducting a range of tests for about a week. Starliner will then undock from the ISS re-enter Earth's atmosphers and make a parachute and airbag-assisted landing in the southwestern United States on June 10, NASA said. If this mission is successful, NASA will begin the final process of certifying Starliner and its systems for crewed rotation missions to the International Space Station. The Starliner capsule will carry four astronauts, or a mix of crew and cargo, for NASA missions to low Earth orbit. NASA, Boeing, and ULA (United Launch Alliance) are ready for the June 1, launch of the agency's Boeing Crew Flight Test according to an announcement during a prelaunch media briefing from NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. "I'm very proud of the teams who have worked really hard the last two and a half weeks to prepare for launch," said Steve Stich, manager, NASA's Commercial Crew Program. "We're really ready to go fly" he said. The integrated ULA Atlas 5 rocket and Starliner spacecraft stack rolled out to the pad at Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on May 30 in preparation for liftoff. Both Williams and Wilmore had remained in preflight quarantine inside the Neil A. Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building following their return to the Florida spaceport on May 28. Mission managers of the <keyword id="21541868" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Boeing-Starliner" source="keywords">Boeing Starliner</keyword>'s Crewed Test Flight (CFT) called off the mission on May 7, just two hours before the scheduled launch due to a valve glitch in the Atlas 5 rocket's upper stage. Boeing said in its statement that the valve was successfully replaced on May 11 and tested to confirm it was working properly. Later on May 14, NASA announced that the CFT mission scheduled for May 17 has been pushed to no later than May 21 due to what it described as a "small helium leak" in the spacecraft's service module. On May 17 the space agency said that the launch was further pushed back to May 25. The flight marking Boeing's first Starliner spacecraft mission with a human crew, is part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program, which is working with the US aerospace industry through a public-private partnership to launch astronauts on American rockets and spacecraft from US soil. NASA selected Boeing and SpaceX in September 2014 to transport crew to the International Space Station from the United States. These integrated spacecraft, rockets and associated systems will carry up to four astronauts on NASA missions, maintaining a space station crew of seven to maximize time dedicated to scientific research on the orbiting laboratory. After a failed attempt in December 2019, Boeing conducted a successful uncrewed Orbital Flight Test 2 (OFT-2) in 2022. Its Starliner is expected to be reusable for up to ten missions within a six-month turnaround time, according to the aerospace company. Elon Musk-owned SpaceX company's Crew Dragon has performed 12 crewed missions since its first launch on May 30, 2020. Williams and Wilmore were both former commanders of the International Space Station. Williams, from Needham, Massachusetts, earned a physical science degree from the US Naval Academy, and a master's in engineering management from the Florida Institute of Technology. Her first spaceflight was Expedition 14/15 (from December 2006 to June 2007) launching on space shuttle Discovery's STS-116 mission to reach the International Station, according to NASA. While onboard, Williams established a world record for women at the time with four spacewalks. She concluded her tour of duty by returning to Earth with shuttle Atlantis' STS-117 flight to land at Edwards Air Force Base in California on June 22, 2007. Selected as an astronaut by NASA in June 1998, Williams has spent a total of 322 days in space on two missions and accumulated 50 hours and 40 minutes of cumulative EVA time on seven spacewalks. Williams worked with Roscosmos on its contribution to the space station and with the first Expedition crew. Meanwhile, 61-year-old, Wilmore has logged 178 days in space and has 25 hours and 36 minutes of time on four spacewalks. Boeing has planned six manned missions for the platform over the next six years, the projected end of the ISS' operating lifespan. NASA plans to use both SpaceX's Dragon and Boeing's Starliner to send up astronauts at least every six months from US soil. Both Boeing and SpaceX were given the responsibility in 2014 by NASA to send commercial crew missions to the ISS. Boeing received over USD 4 billion in US federal funds to develop the Starliner, while SpaceX received about USD 2.6 billion. Sunita Williams flies to ISS on NASA's Boeing Starliner tonight; 3rd time in space for Indian-origin astronaut

On August 23 the <keyword id="7864315" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vikram-lander" source="Orion">Vikram Lander</keyword> of Chandrayaan 3 is expected to make a soft landing on the south pole of the moon. ISRO on Friday released images of the moon as captured by the position detection camera attached to the lander right after the successful separation of the lander from the propulsion module. Here are some of the pictures: The Chandrayaan-3 mission's lander is named after Vikram Sarabhai (1919-1971), who is widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme. On Wednesday, the spacecraft carried out the final lunar-bound orbit reduction manoeuvre of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, a week ahead of its scheduled landing on the south pole of the moon on August 23. A GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle was used for the launch of the spacecraft that was placed in the lunar orbit on August 5 and since then it has been through a series of orbital manoeuvres. It has been a month and three days since the Indian Space Research Organisation launched the Chandrayaan-3 mission on July 14. The spacecraft was launched from the <keyword id="6356967" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="satish-dhawan-space-centre" source="Orion">Satish Dhawan Space Centre</keyword> in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota. ISRO is bidding to make a successful soft landing on the moon, which will make India the fourth country in the world to achieve the feat after the United States, Russia, and China. The stated objectives of Chandrayaan-3, India's third lunar mission, are safe and soft landing, rover roving on the moon's surface, and in-situ scientific experiments. The approved cost of Chandrayaan-3 is Rs 250 crores (excluding launch vehicle cost). Chandrayaan-3's development phase commenced in January 2020 with the launch planned sometime in 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought an unforeseen delay to the mission's progress. Chairman S Somanath stated, "Everything is going fine now. There will be a series of manoeuvres until it lands (on the Moon) on 23rd August. The satellite is healthy." Moon serves as a repository of the Earth's past and a successful lunar mission by India will help enhance life on Earth while also enabling it to explore the rest of the solar system and beyond. Historically, spacecraft missions to the Moon have primarily targeted the equatorial region due to its favourable terrain and operating conditions. In an interaction with IANS, Martinez revealed the conversation she, along with other top Cisco leadership, had with PM Modi last week around the emerging technologies and how they can help the country innovate and build for the world. "It was very exciting to meet the prime minister and other top leaders to witness the great commitment they have to make India a global manufacturing and export hub for various technologies. 5G is a great opportunity for us to do more, not only for the private sector but also for enterprises of all sizes at massive scale," Martinez said. She said that PM Modi asked them to engage on 6G as after 5G, the prime minister is already laying out the blueprint for it. "We talked about building some kind of joint R&amp;D around 6G as well. We are very excited after seeing the 5G roll-out globally, including in India. We're very excited about 6G too," Martinez told IANS. PM Modi has already emphasised that the 6G initiative will create new opportunities for innovators, industries and startups. In March, he released a vision document that details India's plans to develop and launch 6G telecom services in a few years. The 'Bedtime Alarm' feature is also more robust, allowing users to customize alarm timings day-wise. To enhance communication, the 'Direct Dial 4X1' widget has been added to the S23 home screen, for easy accessibility of priority contacts and dial them at a single touch. SRI-N developed these apps and features to provide the most seamless and intuitive experience to customers while providing a wide scope for customisation, said the company. This hiring season, Samsung R&amp;D centres will hire around 200 engineers from top IITs. They have also offered over 400 pre-placement offers to students at the IITs and other top institutions. Samsung research centres in India have filed over 7,500 patents in various areas to date. Several of these patents have been commercialised in Samsung flagship Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, network equipment and digital applications, among others. <ul class="summary-list"><li>The third accuser in Danny Masterson's trial for criminal rape charges took the stand on Wednesday.</li><li>In her testimony she described an assault she said happened in 2003 and the aftermath of the incident.</li></ul>A third accuser in actor Danny Masterson's trial for criminal rape charges took the stand on Wednesday, describing a fearful night in 2003 and her emotional state in the aftermath.The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office charged the "That '70s Show" actor with three counts of rape in 2020 based on the accounts of three women, one of whom is Jane Doe 2 who testified on Wednesday.The accusers, all former members of the Church of Scientology, alleged that Masterson, a lifelong member, assaulted them at the height of his sitcom fame.Masterson and his legal team have denied the allegations, calling them "outrageous," and he has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges.Though the church is not a defendant and not on trial, <a href="https://www.insider.com/danny-mastersons-trial-in-one-of-biggest-in-scientology-history-2022-10">the accusations against Masterson are interwoven with what the witnesses said they experienced with the church</a> after they attempted to report and process the alleged assaults.Jane Does 1 and 3 previously <a href="https://www.insider.com/danny-masterson-accuser-had-a-panic-attack-talking-about-scientology-2022-10">took the stand,</a> and during the third week of the trial, Jane Doe 2 began to tell her story under direct questioning from Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller. Similar to previous accounts and <a href="https://www.insider.com/danny-mastersons-trial-in-one-of-biggest-in-scientology-history-2022-10">what experts told Insider</a>, her testimony included descriptions of her interactions with Masterson as well as insight into the complex nature of the Church of Scientology. In a statement to Insider, a representative for the church rejected all of Jane Doe 2's testimony about Scientology, as well as previous witness testimony about the organization."There is no truth to the allegations about the Church. The District Attorney is shamefully centering his prosecution on the defendant's religion. With regard to the Church, the DA has elicited answers from the Jane Does and had them state as fact allegations about the Church—which are categorically untrue," spokesperson Karin Pouw said. Scientology is not a party to the criminal trial, but it has been frequently referenced as Masterson is a current member, and the three accusers are former members. <h2>Jane Doe 2 and Masterson met through Scientology 'cliques'</h2>Jane Doe 2 fanned herself at the start of her testimony and often spoke at a rapid pace but with a calm tone as she described what she said was a dark memory."We were in the same church together, there were different cliques, and we would all hang out and be at different gatherings," she told the court, adding that she met Masterson around 1999. "I was put in church by my mom when I was 16 but didn't start going to the Celebrity Centre until I was 17, 18."Jane Doe 2 told the court that her mother, formerly a Scientologist, "still believed quite a few of the tenets and doctrines, even though she didn't like it anymore." She described meeting Masterson through the church and eventually accepting an invitation to go out to drink with her friend Hilaria, Luke Watson, and Masterson."Danny was staring at me so intently, in such a laser-focused way, it was like boring a hole into my head,'' Jane Doe 2 testified. "When I stopped drinking the water, all three of them were staring at me and they were just watching Danny watch me — it was a very intent, predatory stare."Jane Doe 2 testified that by the end of the night, Masterson plainly told her "give me your number" and texted her for days "demanding and commanding that I come over, right now.""'Come over right now, you're getting in my Jacuzzi, you're getting in my pool, bring your bikini,'" Jane Doe 2 claimed Masterson texted her. She added that she was unsure about his tone, but trusted him because her friend Hilaria told her Masterson was interested in her romantically."If I set conditions, I can probably control the situation," Jane Doe 2 said about her thoughts before going, adding that she later told Masterson no to intercourse at his house."I am not getting in your pool, jacuzzi, not putting on a bikini, not taking off my clothes — we can talk and have a glass of wine, and then I'm going home," Jane Doe 2 testified that she told Masterson.<h2>The third accuser testified that there was pressure leading up to the alleged assault</h2>She said that when she arrived during a night between October and December 2003, he handed her a glass of wine and urged her to "drink it, drink it" early in the night, and later things started to feel "fuzzy."During her testimony, Jane Doe 2 claimed that after that moment "some moments are extremely vivid, and blank spots."She testified that Masterson told her, "get naked now, or I'll get you naked," and she said she remembered being half-clothed in Masterson's Jacuzzi before he began kissing her heavily."I told him, 'we cannot have sex Danny,' I kept trying to manage it because I did not want to arouse violence — there has to be a point where it's enough for him, I thought I could control it," Jane Doe 2 testified.She told the court as she felt "fuzzy," and "heavy, losing faculties," that Masterson then told her to go to his shower and she obliged.There, she alleged, Masterson fingered and penetrated her against her will, and raped her again on his bed."He said 'That's it,' and flipped me over, and he started pounding me from behind really hard. I started to vomit in my mouth. And I was just swallowing back vomit because I didn't want to get it on his sheets, he was pounding really hard like a jackhammer, it really hurt," Jane Doe 2 told the court, claiming that the assault continued through the night and that she felt like a "ragdoll."<h2>She said that she didn't know how to process what happened because of Scientology's doctrines, testifying that she didn't have the tools to process</h2>"I didn't want it to be rape, we were in the same church," Jane Doe 2 said. "I did not want to think of someone in church as a rapist. We were very profoundly scrutinized for negative thoughts about others, meaning that we sinned about them."In her testimony, Jane Doe 2 said that Masterson's elevated status in the church scared her. "I did not know how to process a rape, I didn't have the mental landscape available to me to understand what was happening, also because in the church he was considered more important than me," she said. "That would have made my life horrible, I knew that would sink my whole mental, emotional life, to process the shame. I did not have enough support in my life either to process something like that. I had to make it something else to survive it."During the questioning, she also highlighted what she said restricted her from talking to others about what happened. "I wasn't allowed to think of it that way because of the church, and it would have been incredibly stressful," Jane Doe 2 testified. "I was gaslighting myself, I was really trying to re-contextualize it for myself to be safe in our church, to be safe with him."She never reported the alleged assault to the church, she testified, citing a previous negative experience. Not long before she alleged Masterson raped her, Jane Doe 2 said she was raped by another Scientology member. When she went to a church chaplain to discuss the assault, she said the chaplain scolded her and made it clear that she wasn't allowed to report it to law enforcement. Her past experiences with Scientology, she said, had convinced her that reporting Masterson would lead to her being excommunicated, declared a suppressive person, and the loss of her entire community.A spokesperson for Scientology rejected much of Jane Doe 2's testimony, saying "church policy explicitly demands Scientologists abide by all law of the land." Jane Doe 2 said that initially, she opened up to her mother and a few friends and that she did not have the support system to realize what had happened to her, but years later she understood."To me, it was rape, and he was a predator," Jane Doe 2 said. "As an adult woman, you have plenty of time to see these distinctions, between someone having an affinity for you and someone targeting you like you're a piece of meat."
