While the company’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 performed decently, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 failed to match its predecessor’s sales. The company recorded a 21% year-on-year decline in shipments. Huawei has emerged second, with a 15% market share in Q3 2024, up from a 13% market share in Q3 2023. The company recorded a 23% year-on-year growth in shipments. Honor and Motorola take the third and fourth spots, with a 10% and a 7% market share respectively. Both companies have recorded good growth. While Honor has recorded a 121% year-on-year growth, Motorola has recorded a 164% year-on-year growth. Xiaomi is in the fifth position, with a 6% market share. The company recorded the highest year-on-year growth at 185%. This growth was driven by the Mix Flip, the company’s first clamshell smartphone. Global foldable phone shipments decline in Q3 2024, Samsung leads with 56% market share

<ul><li>The Indian wearable market has declined for the second consecutive quarter.</li><li>The smartwatch segment has recorded a huge decline in shipments in Q3 2024.</li><li>The earwear segment has also declined, while the smart ring segment remains strong.</li></ul>The <keyword id="22725790" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-wearables-market" source="keywords">Indian wearables market</keyword> has declined for the second consecutive quarter, recording a 20.7% year-on-year decline in shipments in Q3 2024. There was a 10% decline in shipments in Q2 2024. According to a report by the International Data Corporation, 38 million devices were shipped in the country’s wearables market in Q3 2024. The decline is being attributed to a reduction in new product launches and a cautious inventory strategy. <h2>Smartwatch shipments decline</h2>The smartwatch category recorded a decline of 44.8% as shipments declined from 16.92 million devices in Q3 2023 to 9.34 million in Q3 2024. Not just the basic smartwatches, the shipments of premium smartwatches also declined by 39.9% year-on-year. The Smartwatch average selling price (ASP) however increased by 1.4% from $25.8 to $26.2. The wristband category, which remained strong in Q2 has also declined in Q3, recording a 48.4% year-on-year decline in shipments. The earwear category also struggled, with a 7.5% decline in shipments from 30.29 million in Q3 2023 to 28.52 in Q3 2024. <h2>The smart ring category continues to shine</h2>The smart ring market has remained strong, with 92 thousand smart rings shipped in Q3 2024. The quarter also recorded a decline in the average selling price of 16.2% to $162.1. Ultrahuman continues to lead the smart ring category in India with a 36.8% market share, boAt comes in second with a 20.5% share and Pi Ring is third with a 16.3% market share. <h2>Smartwatch market dominate the Indian smartwatch market with a 27.4% market share in Q3 2024, up from a 20.7% market share in Q3 2023. boAt comes in second with a 16.7% market share, up from a 14.2% market share in Q3 2023. “Amid market trends like consolidation, premiumization, and evolving consumer expectations, we have not only weathered these changes but thrived, with a 10-15% year-on-year increase in average undifferentiated products and a limited number of brands in play. market</h2>Vivo has emerged as the market leader in Q3 2024, with a 15.8% market share, up from a 13.9% market share in Q3 2023. This marks the third consecutive quarter where the smartphone maker has led the Indian smartphone market. Vivo’s shipments have increased by 20% year-on-year. Oppo is second, with a 13.9% market share in Q3 2024, up from a 9.9% market share in Q3 2023. The company’s shipments have increased by 47.6% year-on-year. Samsung, which led the Indian smartphone market in Q3 2023 with a market share of 16.2% has been pushed down to the third spot with a 12.3% market share. The company’s shipments have declined by 19.7% year-on-year. Other notable changes include the increase in Apple’s market share from 5.7% to 8.2%, a decline in OnePlus’ market share from 6.2% to 3.6% and a 149% year-on-year increase in shipments recorded by Motorola. <h2>5G shipments on the rise</h2>The share of 5G shipments increased to 83% in Q3 2024, up from 57% in Q3 2023. Of the 46 million smartphones shipped, 38 million were 5G smartphones. This has been fueled by the decline in the average selling price (ASP) of 5G smartphones. The ASP has by 20% to $292 (approx. ₹24,650). “Cyclical dip in demand after the festive period and high shipments in 3Q24 will result in higher stock levels across channels in 4Q24. Thus, India's smartphone market is expected to exit 2024 with a low single-digit annual growth,” said Navkendar Singh, AVP – Devices Research, IDC. Indian smartphone shipments grow 5.6% in Q3 2024, Vivo leads the market

According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), the growth in sales was recorded due to online festival sales which began early this year. “The e-tail sales, which typically start around the second week of October, began in late September, leading to a surge in PC shipments,” said Bharath Shenoy, Research Manager, IDC India &amp; South Asia. In Q3 2024, desktops recorded an 8.1% year-on-year decline, notebooks recorded a 2.8% year-on-year growth and workstations recorded a 2.4% year-on-year growth. Premium notebooks priced above $1,000 recorded a 7.6% year-on-year growth. “Brands capitalized on e-tail sales by offering steep discounts, cashback, and bundled accessories. Many of them also matched similar pricing in their brand stores and offline channels like Larger Format Retail stores (LFRs), leading to the second biggest consumer quarter in history,” Shenoy added. The company was able to take its market share in overall tablet shipments to 23.6% in Q2 2024. Apple recorded a market share of 9.5% in Q2 2024, with its growth in the consumer segment driven by new product launches and price cuts for older products. Global smartphone shipments record 4% growth in Q3 2024, Samsung leads the market

Mining conglomerate <keyword id="19919721" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vedanta" source="keywords">Vedanta</keyword> Ltd on Tuesday reported 36.5 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,606 crore for June quarter FY25 due to improved margins and robust cost reduction across all operations. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,640 crore in the year-ago period. Income rose to Rs 36,698 crore over Rs 34,279 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Vedanta said in a statement that the proposed demerger of its businesses is on track and it has already filed the demerger scheme with NCLT after getting a nod from secured creditors. The company said that its board has approved a capex investment of USD 270 million for its oil and gas business. "The strategic priority for the Cairn Oil &amp; Gas business is to augment reserves and increase near term volume through infill wells and enhanced oil recovery. In order to deliver this, the Board has approved capex investment (net) of USD 270 million across fields in the Rajasthan block for drilling wells and construction of surface facility for ASP ( Alkaline Surfactant Polymer) injection," the company said in a separate filing. Vedanta Executive Director Arun Misra said that the company has delivered a strong start to the year, with exceptional EBITDA improvement of 47 per cent and PAT improvement by 54 per cent year-over-year on the back of improved margins, and robust cost reduction across all operations. "Our aluminium and zinc divisions continue to outperform industry benchmarks, consistently ranking in the top quartiles and deciles of the global cost curve. These achievements are a direct result of our strategic focus on cost, as reflected in a 20 per cent year-over-year reduction in overall cost," he said. The company's growth projects are well on track and it remains committed to commission the majority of these projects in FY25. "Moving ahead, our focus on operational efficiency, sustained expansion, and ESG excellence will guide our journey. With this dedication, we are confident in our ability to create substantial shareholder value in the year ahead," he added. Vedanta Q1 profit surges 37% to ₹3,606 crore on improved margins

<keyword id="19938730" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS-Motor" source="keywords">TVS Motor</keyword> Company on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit increased 6 per cent to Rs 461 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024, riding on the back of robust sales. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 434 crore in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. Total income rose to Rs 10,448 crore for the period under review as compared to Rs 9,142 crore in the year-ago period, TVS Motor Company said in a regulatory filing. On a standalone basis, the company posted a profit after tax of Rs 577 crore for the first quarter as compared to Rs 468 crore in the June quarter of the last fiscal, it added. Total income rose to Rs 8,412 crore for the first quarter as against Rs 7,275 crore in the year-ago period. The company said its overall two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales including exports grew 14 per cent year-on-year, registering sales of 10.87 lakh units in the quarter ended June 2024 as against 9.53 lakh units registered in the quarter ended June 2023. Motorcycle sales grew by 11 per cent year on year at 5.14 lakh units in the first quarter as against 4.63 lakh units in the same period last fiscal. Scooter sales grew by 19 per cent year-on-year to 4.18 lakh units in the April-June quarter this year. Three-wheeler sales for the quarter under review stood at 31,000 units as against 35,000 units in the year-ago period, TVS said. Electric scooter sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2024, stood at 52,000 units as compared to 39,000 units in the April-June quarter of last fiscal. Shares of TVS Motor Company on Tuesday ended 0.75 per cent down at Rs 2,474.45 apiece on the BSE. The company reported an above-expectations growth for the quarter, while its margins remained largely in line with what the D-street had been anticipating. <h2>Strong net profits, margins</h2>On expected lines, the <keyword id="6354185" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IT" source="Orion">IT</keyword> giant's net <keyword id="19933742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="profit" source="keywords">profit</keyword> is down by 3.2% on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis and up by 8.7% on a YoY basis, standing at Rs 12,040 crore for this quarter. Last quarter, this figure stood at Rs 12,434 crore. The company's consolidated EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) margins stood at 24.7%, witnessing an expansion of 1.5% on a year-on-year (YoY) basis. The company's revenue jumped up by 2.2% on a quarter-on-quarter basis and a 5.4% on a YoY basis, reaching Rs 62,613 crore for April-June 2024, as opposed to Rs 61,237 crore in the quarter before. The company's PAT (<keyword id="19933742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="profit" source="keywords">profit</keyword> after tax) saw a marginal dip on a QoQ basis of 3.2%, reaching Rs 120.4 billion. However, on a YoY basis, PAT saw a robust 8.7% growth. The company TCV (total contract value) or order book for the quarter dipped significantly by 37.1% to $8.3 billion, also registering a fall of 18.6% on a YoY basis. <h2>Dip in attrition, rise in employee count</h2>However, the company managed to add 5,452 employees to its workforce, as opposed to losing 1,759 employees during the previous quarter. This takes the company's total workforce to 6,06,998. Its attrition rate, at 12.1% this quarter, also came down from 12.5% from the previous quarter. Per the company, AI Cloud, Cyber Security and Enterprise Solutions led their growth this quarter. The company also saw a YoY growth (in constant currency terms) of 61.8% in its India markets, jumping from 4.9% in Q1FY24 to 7.5% in <keyword id="22373996" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Q1FY25" source="keywords">Q1FY25</keyword>. The company's client base of ones worth over $100 million and $50 million increased by 3 each during the year. In case of Bengaluru, the average real estate prices witnessed a modest 4.8 per cent rise in prime residential or luxury homes during the January-March quarter of 2024. According to the report by the property consultant, titled '<keyword id="22041946" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Global-Cities-Index-Q1-2024" source="Orion">Prime Global Cities Index Q1 2024</keyword>', Mumbai's significant rise on the international index was largely due to the rise in demand in the city. While the demand has been strong for all segments, there has been a rise in the sale of higher value products. Mumbai recorded the third highest year-on-year growth in prime residential prices in Q1-2024, pushing it up the ranking table by three places to 3rd position from its 6th position in Q1-2023. Delhi NCR rose from 17th rank in Q1-2023 to 5th in Q1-2024 with a growth of 10.5 per cent on a yearly basis. However, Bengaluru observed a slight decline in ranking from 16th place in Q1-2024 to 17th rank in Q1-2024, even while it recorded a 4.8 per cent yearly growth in residential prices. India's main cities, notably New Delhi and Mumbai, have witnessed a surge in house prices driven by robust economic growth, with annual GDP growth exceeding 8 per cent in the just concluded financial year 2023-24. Manila, the capital city of Philippines, claimed the top spot in the ranking with a 26.2 per cent annual rise in prices. The growth, as per the Knight Frank report, can be attributed to two key factors: purchasing power, and substantial infrastructure investments within and around the city. Tokyo in Japan jumped 17 places up with 12.5 per cent yearly price growth and ranked 2nd in the index. Despite Japan's overall population decline, Tokyo sustains a net population growth owing to migration from other regions within the country. Shishir Baijal, Chairman and Managing Director at Knight Frank India said, "The strong demand trend for residential properties has been a global phenomenon, led by gateway markets of Asia- Pacific and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa)." "Like its peers in these regions, the improved rankings of Mumbai and New Delhi on the Prime Global Cities Index was underscored by the resilience in sales growth volume. We expect the momentum of sales to remain stable over the next few quarters as the economic conditions are likely to remain broadly unchanged." The Prime Global Cities Index is a valuation-based index tracking the movement of prime residential prices across 44 cities worldwide. The index tracks nominal prices in local currency.
