This new air quality and weather forecasting system was recently launched in Mumbai by Minister for Science &amp; Technology and <keyword id="2916127" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Earth-Science-Minister">Earth Science Minister</keyword> <keyword id="196226" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Harsh-Vardhan">Harsh Vardhan</keyword>. 

	SAFAR is a monitoring and forecast system conceived to provide three days weather information with health advisories, levels of Ultra-Violet radiation and pollution among others, reported PTI. 
 The system was developed by Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, in association with Regional Meteorological Center Mumbai-India Metrological Department, and the <keyword id="48285" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Municipal-Corporation">Municipal Corporation</keyword> of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). 

	Speaking on the occasion, Vardhan praised the Met department whose weather forecasts for farmers and fishermen, he said, have contributed towards the economic development of the country to the tune of Rs 32,000 crore. 
 

	He said the Met department is technically qualified and equipped to make weather forecasts. “There is a lot of misunderstanding in the public about this. The department is doing a very good job," Vardhan told PTI.

"“In acquiring Zenith Technologies, we expand Cognizant’s IoT portfolio and extend our life sciences domain expertise by becoming a single-source provider of end-to-end smart factory capabilities," the statement added. Zenith is privately-held company of about 800 engineers, and has units in 16 locations including Warrington (Cheshire, United Kingdom), Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) and Raleigh (North Carolina) in US, and Pune (Maharashtra, India), according to its LinkedIn page. The company is estimated to have an annual revenue of about $63 million, <a href="https://www.owler.com/company/zenithtechnologies#summary" data-type="tilCustomLink">according to Owler</a>. These are testing times for Cognizant that is listed on Wall Street. The company’s newly appointed CEO Brian Humphries is reportedly looking to get the house in order after depleting fortunes forced the company to slash its growth forecast for 2019 from 7%-9% to 3.6%-5.1% in constant currency terms. About two-thirds of the company’s slashed revenue forecast could be attributed to five healthcare clients — four of whom were going through mergers, while the fifth was insourcing its IT spend, <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/ites/no-mass-job-cuts-freshers-to-get-20-more-from-next-year-says-cognizant/articleshow/69570318.cms" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">according to company's chief financial officer</a>(CFO) Karen McLoughlin. Most of the company's troubles were attributed to the 'bloated cost structure', according to a report by Nirmal Bang Institutional equities. "The new CEO – Brian Humphries - in our view would likely take at least 24 months to align the cost structure and delivery capabilities (the more difficult part) with its large Indian peers. In the mean time we expect CTS to lose share to players like TCS and Infosys which have built better delivery engines and would be in a position to bid aggressively for large contracts," the report said. The centre will be aimed towards developing advanced technological solutions in the areas of high performance computing (HPC), high performance data analytics (HPDA) and artificial intelligence (AI). The solutions once developed will then be put to use in the sectors of sciences, genomics, manufacturing, technology, retail, utilities, banking and insurance, as well as testing and research in the fields of weather forecasting and disaster management. TCS also said that the centre will operate globally providing solutions to customers from regions like Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and China, using HPC, HPDA and AI. This collaboration will bring advanced analytical and data processing tools to researchers and solution providers, who can perform extreme data processing, said Lisa Davis, the VP of Intel Datacenter Group and the GM of Digital Transformation and Scale Solutions Group.
