Asian Paints declared its Q1FY25 results yesterday, which saw its quarterly net profit take a hit of about 25% to stand at Rs 1,170 crore. Infosys, Persistent Systems and <keyword id="20130840" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="polycab-india" source="keywords">Polycab India</keyword> will be declaring their Q1 FY25 results during the day. Sameet Chavan, Head Research, Technical and Derivatives at Angel One, notes that there have been no significant developments in the benchmark index, indicating a lack of substantial price movement. Specifically, the price structure has remained stagnant within a narrow range. The Nifty's trading range has notably shrunk to 80 points, making it more challenging for traders to navigate. However, despite this, the broader markets have continued to see active participation, which has contributed to maintaining a positive undertone for market participants. The support zone for Nifty is at 24,500–24,400, which is expected to see buyers stepping in when there are dips. However, it's not entirely clear if the trend will continue at higher levels, he added. "Currently, market participants are closely monitoring sectoral rotation and <keyword id="22454094" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="thematic-movers" source="keywords">thematic movers</keyword>, which are playing a pivotal role in driving market trends. It is advisable to continue observing and analyzing these movements until the key indices show a resurgence in momentum. Furthermore, it is essential to maintain a keen watch on global developments following the mid-week holiday, as these factors could significantly influence and establish the initial market sentiment," Chavan noted. Mr. Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares, notes that after oscillating in a tight range, the index settled on July 16th, trading marginally higher at 24,613. Back-to-back DOJI candles at record levels indicate rejection at the higher levels; however, with each passing day, the support level is shifted higher, and now the immediate support is placed at 24,500. "An early indication from GIFT Nifty suggests a muted opening of the Indian equities, and we believe that the rangebound activity will continue. The same view holds for BankNifty. By registering a new high daily, the FMCG segment is performing as per our expectations, and we continue to maintain a positive stance. In the energy space, gas stocks are likely to extend their positive momentum (IGL and Petronet). After a day of correction, the IT sector resumed its uptrend. We are overweight in the sector (Tech Mahindra). Bearish divergence in the pharmaceutical sector indicates a temporary pause in its uptrend", he said.

Stock market today: Sensex, Nifty open in red, media slips by 2% as IT manages marginal lead

While Nifty closed at 24,800 points, up by 0.76%, Sensex inched up by 626.91 points to close at 81,343.46 points on 18th July, 2024. LTI Mindtree (up by 3.48%), ONGC (up by 2.99%), Wipro (up by 2.41%), Bajaj Finserv (up by 2.39%) and TCS (up by 2.84%) were amongst the top gainers of the day. On the other hand, Hero Moto Corp (down by 1.49%), Coal India (down by 1.48%), Asian Paints (down by 1.40%), Grasim (down by 1.25%) and Bajaj Auto (down by 0.86%) were amongst the leading laggards. Amongst broad market indices, Nifty next 50 closed in red, down by 1.09%. Nifty smallcap 100 dipped by 1.22%, while smallcap 250 shed 1.11% and smallcap 400 lost 1% during the day. Around 145 stocks hit their 52-week high, while 19 stocks also hit their 52-week low prices. 87 stocks hit the upper circuit, or maximum permissible trading price during a single trading session, while 108 stocks remained in the lower circuit, or the lowest permissible trading price during a singular session. <keyword id="6354512" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys" source="Orion">Infosys</keyword>, <keyword id="6370462" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Communications" source="Orion">Tata Communications</keyword> and <keyword id="186288" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Persistent" source="Orion">Persistent</keyword> Systems also announced their Q1FY25 results during the day. Infosys saw a 7.1% YoY rise in its net profit, taking it to Rs 6,368 crore. The company's revenue from operations also jumped up 3.6% YoY to reach Rs 39,315 crore. On the other hand, Persistent recorded $328.2 Million as revenue for Q1 FY25, witnessing a 16% YoY and 5.6% QoQ growth. As for Tata Communications, the company's Q1 net profit dipped 13% to reach Rs 333 crore. However, its revenue for the quarter was up 18%, at Rs 5,633 crore. <h2> Expert outlook</h2>Osho Krishan, Senior Analyst, Technical &amp; Derivatives, Angel One Ltd noted that the Indian equity market experienced a remarkably positive trading day, with the Nifty50 benchmark index reaching a new milestone of 24,800. Despite initial concerns caused by weak global cues, the market demonstrated resilience and confidence as the day progressed. The latter half of the session saw a strong upward movement, and the Nifty soared to settle at the 24,800 mark, securing a gain of 0.76% "As far as levels are concerned, the 24,500 is now expected to provide strong support, before which some cushioning to upcoming blips could be seen around the 24,650 subzones. On the higher end, it's challenging to anticipate the exact resistance zone, but achieving the milestone of 25,000 is now seen as a significant target for the bulls, especially in the context of the pre-budget rally", he continued. Aditya Gaggar Director of Progressive Shares noted extreme volatility in the morning trade today, as index swung on both sides. "On a sectoral front, media was the top loser by ending the day with a loss of over 3% followed by metal. Recovery was seen in the broader markets as well but not enough to outperform the frontline index as mid and smallcap shed by 0.96% &amp; 1.22% respectively. By engulfing the previous candle, the Index has formed a big green candle which implies a strong comeback of bulls and now the psychological level of 25,000 will be considered as an immediate hurdle while on the lower side, 24,500 will serve as strong support", he highlighted. As Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd notes, "Markets have been inching higher as expected, driven by rotational buying in heavyweight stocks. We are now eyeing the new milestone of 25,000 in the Nifty. However, the recent underperformance of the broader indices is tempering the overall buoyancy. Amid these mixed signals, we reiterate our recommendation to focus on stock selection and prefer hedged positions, given the anticipated rise in volatility due to the upcoming Union Budget and ongoing earnings season".

The <keyword id="19922074" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank" source="keywords">Reserve Bank</keyword>'s action against Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) follows a comprehensive system audit report and subsequent compliance validation report of the external auditors. These reports revealed persistent non-compliances and continued material supervisory concerns in the bank, warranting further supervisory action, the RBI said in a statement. "No further deposits or <keyword id="6354680" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="credit" source="Orion">credit</keyword> transactions or top ups shall be allowed in any customer accounts, prepaid instruments, wallets, FASTags, NCMC cards, etc. after February 29, 2024, other than any interest, cashbacks, or refunds which may be credited anytime," it said. The central bank further said withdrawal or utilisation of balances by its customers from their accounts including savings bank accounts, current accounts, prepaid instruments, FASTags, National Common Mobility Cards are to be permitted without any restrictions, up to their available balance. The RBI in March 2022 had directed PPBL to stop onboarding new customers with immediate effect.

RBI stops Paytm Payments Bank from accepting deposits after Feb 29

It had posted a net profit of ₹ 1.34 crore in the corresponding period of 2022-23, the company said in a regulatory filing. The total income also increased to ₹ 1,043 crore from ₹ 991.32 crore in the year-ago quarter. Expenses soared to ₹ 1,039.62 crore in the first quarter of FY24, as against ₹ 989.21 crore a year ago. In a separate statement, company's MD and CEO N Venu said: "We remain focused on balancing our operational complexity and efficiencies to preserve the growth momentum. "While persistent delays in chips and electronics led to lower revenue in the quarter, sustained operational excellence efforts provide visibility in the near-term." In the quarter ending June 30, 2023, the company received orders worth ₹ 1,147.5 crore, up 6 %year-on-year (y-o-y). And the situation is unlikely to improve until the end of the year, analysts say. Amid the ongoing weakness in the sector, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have also sold their stakes in IT companies. FPIs turned bearish on the IT and oil and gas sector in March – between these two sectors, they <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/fpis-offload-it-oil-gas-stocks-worth-13734-crore-in-march/articleshow/99375107.cms">sold equities worth ₹13,734 crore. </a> Analysts expect pain to continue till end of 2023 Considering the macro economic challenges like high inflation, interest rates and banking crisis in the US and European regions, analysts expect it will be a watchful few quarters for the IT sector. "The biggest issue in the IT sector is growth slowdown and possibility of recession. So, as long as the slowdown persists and global growth remains uncertain, the market will expect lesser order flow, slower execution and pricing challenges. All these three factors will lead to IT companies suffering and valuations may also not expand. Investors will have to remain watchful for one to two quarters till there is some clarity on the global growth scenario," Deepak Jasani, head of retail research at HDFC Securities told Business Insider India. The IT majors’ recently-posted fourth-quarter results and FY24 growth predictions tell their own story about the sector’s ongoing struggles. For FY23, IT major Infosys reported a growth of 15.4% in constant currency terms, lower than the guidance of 16-16.5% that it had given <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/corporates/news/infosys-results-q3-fy23-infosys-raises-revenue-guidance-for-fy23-to-16-16-5/articleshow/96941824.cms">at the end of Q3</a>. Besides, it guided for a 4-7% revenue growth in FY24. This is the first time since FY16 that Infosys has guided for single-digit revenue growth in constant currency terms. Bigger rival Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a 11-quarter low constant currency revenue growth at $7.2 billion in Q4. TCS’ outgoing chief executive officer Rajesh Gopinathan said in a post-earnings conference that the company is seeing stress in one of its largest markets, North America. The recovery that the company had expected had not yet materialised. According to Sanjeev Hota, vice president, head of research at Sharekhan BNP Paribas, told Business Insider India, the macro uncertainty faced by the sector is unlikely to get better before 2-3 quarters. “(For) the entire calendar year, things look dicey and the industry may witness some kind of stability by the fag end of this year. US, North America, which are among the biggest markets for the sector, are not expected to improve in the near term." Banking crisis could impact June-quarter earnings The global growth slowdown has worked its way into the stock market performance of these companies with shares of the entire IT pack being beaten down significantly in 2023. The Nifty IT index is down 30% so far this year compared to a 3% fall in the broader Nifty50 index. The IT companies in India faced the heat after the banking crisis in the US and Europe erupted in March, triggered by the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in the US and the turmoil at Swiss lender Credit Suisse. IT majors like TCS, Infosys and Wipro have also neared their 52-week low since March considering IT companies’ exposure to US banks amid the banking sector crisis. BFSI clients are among the Indian IT companies’ largest clients. "Most of the price damage in the IT stocks has already been done. However, outperformance of the sector from the current level seems restricted till global macro headwinds stabilises. The sector valuation multiple is driven by earnings growth and if growth tapers off, there are little chances of the (IT) stocks outperforming the broader market indices,” added Hota. He, however, recommends staggered buying in TCS among the large caps and Persistent Systems from the mid-cap stocks, for long-term investors. The lower-than-expected growth in March quarter for sector leaders Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys and HCL Technologies have underlined the ongoing slowdown. And analysts see this spilling over to the next quarter as well. “The banking crisis in US regional banks and European banks in March 2023 has induced greater caution and could impact the June 2023 quarter. We would not be surprised by a weak US performance across companies that are likely to report in the coming days,” said a report by Kotak Institutional Equities. Analysts at JP Morgan have also highlighted the weakness in banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and telecom verticals, which would impact Tech Mahindra and Mphasis as they have high exposure to these verticals. India’s IT sector likely to face macro headwinds until end 2023, say analysts

The company also announced that it would layoff 3500 employees as it sees revenues slowing further in 2023. The Nasdaq-listed company’s March quarter net profit grew 3% on year to $580 million. Meanwhile, its revenue declined 0.3% on year to $4.8 billion during the quarter. The company follows a January to December accounting year. Adding to the woes, Cognizant says full year guidance of 2023 is expected to be $19.2 - $19.6 billion, which would mean a decline of 1.2%. The next quarter revenue is expected to be at $4.83 - $4.88 billion, showing a decline of 0.6% to 1.6%, or a decline of 1.0% to flat in constant currency. Cognizant reported an operating margin of 14.6% for March quarter, which is lower than Indian IT giants TCS, Infosys, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra. For the full year 2023, the company has guided for adjusted operating margin to be in the range of 14.2%-14.7%. It attributed the move to its NextGen program through which it expects to simplify its operating model and optimise corporate functions. “In the second quarter of 2023, we initiated the NextGen program aimed at simplifying our operating model, optimizing corporate functions and consolidating and realigning office space to reflect the post-pandemic hybrid work environment. Our drive for simplification will include operating with fewer layers in an effort to enhance agility and enable faster decision making,” the company said in a statement. Cognizant has a total headcount of 3.51 lakh in the March quarter, which is a decrease of 3,800 from the previous quarter. Its voluntary attrition rate declined to 23% in Q1 FY23 from 30% in Q1 FY22. "Our accelerated bookings growth in the quarter, which included several large deals and a healthy mix of new and expansion work, reflects the strengths of our services, our brand, and the longstanding relationships we have with our clients. "All our actions being a responsible regulator and supervisor are in the best interest of systemic stability and protection of depositors or customers' interest. These aspects cannot be compromised. Individual entities should be mindful of such aspects for their long term success," <keyword id="19899808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rbi" source="keywords">RBI</keyword> Governor said at the post monetary policy press conference, responding to series of questions from reporters. His remarks were in general and not just specific to Paytm. Das also explained how RBI as a regulator, if need arises, engages with a regulated entity. "We give sufficient time to every regulated entity that is supervised by the RBI to comply with the regulatory requirements, and sometimes it may even look more than sufficient time. We are a responsible regulator, we are a responsible supervisor. If everything had been complied, I am talking in a general sense, why should we act. Afterall, we have a responsibility, its a responsible institution," Das said. "We are completely focussed on nudging the regulated entity to take corrective actions...And sufficient time is given for undertaking such corrective action. When such constructive engagement which we undertake, when that does not work or when the regulated entity does not effective action , we go for imposing supervisory or business restrictions." On January 31, RBI said that a Comprehensive System Audit report and subsequent compliance validation report of the external auditors revealed persistent non-compliances and continued material supervisory concerns in Paytm Payments Bank Ltd. Based on that, the central bank imposed various restriction on the bank. Das reiterated that the action on Paytm company should only be seen as an action for the greater interest of customers. "Such restrictions which we impose are always proportionate to the gravity of the situation," he added. Das said the RBI received queries and clarifications and it will issue a list of FAQs sometime next week on this issue. On the overall fintech space, Das said RBI will always keep encouraging and supporting financial system and there should be no doubts on the contrary. Deputy <keyword id="20504075" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="governor-swaminathan" source="keywords">Governor Swaminathan</keyword>, commenting on the Paytm matter, said, "As a matter of policy we don't comment on individual entities but as the question is from most of you we will respond." "First, this is a supervisory action on a regulated entity for a persistent non-compliance. Second, such supervisory actions are invariably preceded by months at time and at times years of bilateral engagement, where we not only point out deficiencies, but provide more than adequate time for them to take corrective actions." "Third, as a regulator, its incumbent upon us protect the interest of the ultimate consumer and thereby protecting the stability of the financial system. These actions have to be seen in that particular context," Swaminathan added. On asked what lies ahead, the deputy governor said, "You will have to wait. RBI projected India's economic growth at 6.4 per cent for 2023-24, broadly in line with the estimate of the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament last week. It also estimated retail inflation to ease to 5.3 per cent in the next fiscal from 6.5 per cent this year on assumptions of lower imported inflation, even though core inflation remains sticky. The RBI's decision to hike the repo rate by 25 basis points was on expected lines but the policy focuses more on inflation despite the recent moderation in the number, bankers said on Wednesday. Analysts are of the view that after delivering the seventh hawkish policy on Wednesday, the central bank may pause after delivering a likely 25 basis points increase in the April review.

<ul><li>Marketing has always been about understanding how a consumer reacts to certain triggers and how brands can use that to influence them.</li><li>After the year 2020 turned the marketing world upside down, brands and businesses of all sizes had to reimagine their communication strategies and evolve with the rapidly changing times.</li><li>Brands started offering a helping hand to consumers by leveraging their social media presence to either amplify citizens’ SoS for ICU beds or to spread awareness around vaccination registration.</li><li>In 2021, the focus shifted primarily to digital channels owing to the pandemic.</li><li>As we enter a new year with a lot of hope and optimism for the future, we speak to a few brands to discuss how the pandemic impacted their marketing activities and what the future holds for marketing.</li></ul>After months of multiple nationwide lockdowns in 2020 and living and working in isolation, the Indian <keyword id="11095746" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="marketing-ecosystem" source="Orion">marketing ecosystem</keyword> started preparing for a new future. Brands decided to pause, reflect, rework their strategies and most importantly, prioritise consumer interest. They focused on creating more enhanced consumer experiences online as we all waited to physically get back to our ‘normal’ lives. A few brands decided to reach out to people who were crying for help and many brands swallowed their pride, kept aside fierce rivalry and started uplifting their competitors in social media posts instead -- even burger and cola wars stopped. Consumers started yearning for stories that uplift and inspire them to keep going in the otherwise gloomy times. There was a new-found appreciation for empathetic advertising and nostalgia marketing in the brandverse, which continued in 2021. Brands delivered some hope and delight with every post and advertisement. They also started speaking one-on-one with their consumers across social media channels more than ever and delivered on what is asked of them because GenZ and Millennials are quick to call out unconnected brand purposes. Brands also moved along with the great digital migration of consumers and expanded their digital presence. They also factored in the massive economic upheavals due to the pandemic and offered value-based deals. They engaged with consumers on smart devices and interfaces across the home, expanded their media mix to include virtual reality, video conferencing platforms and video gaming platforms. This year’s Ipsos and Tetra Pak report found that the personal, economic and environmental fragility experienced during the global pandemic has created a shift from more passive concern to active caretaking -- driven by the desire to protect ourselves, our communities and the security of the planet. People are being more proactive in making the right purchases – for their own wellbeing and for the environment around them. This includes dietary choices and recycling more and reducing waste. As a result, we have seen more eco-friendly product and packaging launches this year. The concern for the environment will only grow stronger and brands will be expected to align themselves with a larger purpose. With a new-found appreciation for life and altered perspectives towards marketing, we reached out to Indian brands from different sectors to find out what are some of the trends that they expect to see in 2022. Here is what they said: Pankaj Sharma, Director – Consumer Products Division, L’Oréal India: Indian beauty consumers have become more discerning as they move between online + offline buying and experiencing paradigms. And in this journey, eCommerce will continue to play a big role in driving beauty in India. It has created more opportunities for consumer experience and demand fulfillment. The initiatives like live streaming, e-BAs, Video-Content on DIY have enabled new touchpoints. This has allowed more specific media and activation plans for each region, depending on the festive peaks. For example, at L’Oréal India, we used Insta-Festive as one of our umbrella themes and could do insta-diwali, insta-pujo, insta-karwa, insta-onam as activation points to engage with consumers on e-commerce and digital with the power of data. Apart from targeting festive occasions, we are moving towards occasion-led purchases, celebrating personal milestones of life. Hence beauty brands are sending out relevant brand communications throughout the year, with the same rigor, as one would have done during the festive season before. The festive season, however, still sees an uptick in purchases and offers a variety of formats to give consumers what they’re seeking. Raunika Malhotra, President - Marketing &amp; Corporate Communications, Lodha: In the coming year, I see stakeholder marketing becoming increasingly relevant. It essentially means working towards creating value for all stakeholders that include customers, employees, vendors, communities, natural capital, cities, etc. The other trend that we will witness is the increased use of analytics and data scientists in marketing communication and performance. Lastly, the pandemic has made people more conscious of the community and the environment at large. They are looking to engage with brands with shared values of doing good for the society and the planet. Abhishek Shahabadi, Vice President &amp; Portfolio Head, Scotch and Premium Whites Diageo India: There’s been good momentum on Diageo India brands in 2021, despite operational challenges due to pandemic led restrictions. This is attributed to the growing trend of ‘at-home drinking’. The off-trade salience increased to 88% compared to 73% in the pre-pandemic phase, as individuals were constrained to more intimate drinking occasions at home. We see at-home drinking as a strong trend coupled with the growth of outdoor experiences in 2022 as the market opens. Keeping this in mind, Diageo India continues to strengthen its in-home play through off-trade and digital along with influencer engagement to embrace ways to make at-home drinking experiences more enjoyable. Arnab Roy, Vice President, Marketing, Coca-Cola India &amp; Southwest Asia: While this year has tested the thinking and resilience of brands worldwide, going forward, we hope that the pandemic continues to regress and we get the real magic back into our lives. As people step out of their homes more often, they will be looking out for more real activities like watching blockbusters at multiplexes, visiting their favourite food “gullies” and travelling more frequently with their loved ones. Post COVID we are also seeing a trend where people are more experimentative and open to new genres of music, food, sports and entertainment. It is thus imperative for brands to deliver integrated experiences at a global scale with the agility, speed and data-driven insights that are required to win locally. Ramesh Kalyanaraman, Executive Director – Kalyan Jewellers: Gold has always been a preferred consumption item for Indians and in the post COVID-19 era, it has also emerged as one of the safer and more lucrative long-term assets. The dynamic market scenario and uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic led to renewed interest from younger consumers who bought into the idea of gold jewellery, for the first time. Today’s young consumers or millennials consider jewellery as a fashion statement and a style symbol that will go with their sensibilities and help them showcase their true self. Because of this, it has become increasingly critical for jewellery companies to keep up with newer trends and address the changing sensibilities and consumer preferences in this ever-evolving business environment. To address the ongoing digital transformation in India’s jewellery industry, we are focusing on creating a holistic ecosystem, strengthening our omnichannel strategy and making the ‘phygital’ model more seamless. Over the past few years, we have been making consistent investments in developing and leveraging technology to offer convenient solutions to customers for purchasing jewellery or investing in gold. As a result of this, we were well-positioned to adapt to this digital transformation and ventured into newer product categories such as Digital Gold as well as explored newer avenues to reach our customers by introducing services such as Gold Ownership Certificate and LIVE Video Shopping facility, which allowed customers to browse through and purchase jewellery at the comfort of their homes. One of the biggest trends that have emerged out of the nationwide lockdown is an enormous increase in the screen time spent by Indians across digital platforms. Kartik Johari, Vice President - Marketing &amp; Commerce, Nobel Hygiene: 2022 will be the golden year for great marketeers, as content will reign supreme. We are drowning in a glut of content, be it 10 sec Reels, to full-blown documentaries. Consumers on the other hand are oscillating between anxiety, fright and boredom. The challenge is up to us, to create content that can engage, reassure, add value and be honest. It is so important to keep a track of how many people the content reaches, who engages, and what they say. We have never had so much data on our interactions and it is time we start using data better! It should be an interesting year for strong brand teams. Ketan Kulkarni, Chief Commercial Officer, Blue Dart: The world has acclimatized to the ‘new normal’ and what seemed to be the most challenging obstacle of 2020, has now enabled us to prepare for any unprecedented events that could cause business disruptions in the future. A major factor in actualizing this is agility driven by technology and automation. The role of logistics has been highlighted over the last two years given our industry’s essential service status and this has only been possible because of the technology-based solutions adopted by resilient players. 2022 will definitely see an enhancement in the ‘Technology-led transformation’ that we are witnessing today. Digitalization across the supply chain from first mile to last mile is the future of the industry; technology enabling near-autonomous facilities, robotics, drone-delivery systems, and 3D/additive manufacturing are going to be adopted very quickly. The reason is, in the event of another unprecedented crisis, organizations would want to ensure ‘business-as-usual’ to cause minimal business disruptions. Businesses are riding on the pandemic-accelerated digital transformation wave and the trend is likely to continue. Around 80% of companies are allocating resources to improving their e-commerce and shopping platforms. This includes a full 60% investment in their digital direct-to-customer (DTC) channels. The digital shift also includes transforming internal capabilities and creating efficiencies with the help of technology. The future of retail will be omnichannel shopping or phygital retail. New technologies will continue to transform the retail sector with rapid change and innovation. Retail consumers will expect frictionless and tech-enabled experiences. Preparedness coupled with collaboration, resilience and agility played a vital role in the pandemic stressed quarter of this year, to ensure wellbeing of each and every employee as well as business continuity in order to serve our consumers. The year saw new products, markets and experiences, both for the business as well as the consumers. Despite the happenings, this year saw consistent supplies as varied channels such as e-commerce continued big-time. In addition, the consumption trend of consumers which began witnessing a change last year are persistent this year as well with in-home consumption and preference for packaged foods going strong.

Marketing trends to watch out for in 2022

When 80,000 coders from 9,000 IT companies were given a chance to fight the TechGig Code Gladiators 2015 battle using a weapon of their choice i.e. a programming language they love, we realized that Java is the love of their life. Contestants preferred Java over 9 other programming languages, which includes: C, C++, C#, PHP, Java Script, Python, Perl, Ruby and VB.net. 
 
TechGig Code Gladiators is a national level competition that showcases the company with the best coders and identifies the Best Coder in the Country. 
 
In the initial online rounds of the Code Gladiators 2015, the top 100 coders battled it out face-to-face in the grand finale to win coveted titles and prize money of Rs 6 lakhs. And at the finale, when India got its five best coders, Java emerged as the most popular coding language among the top coders. 
 
Apurv Gupta from Oracle (the winner), Surender Godara from SapientNitro (first runner-up), Victor Hoh from AWPL (second runner-up), <a href="http://www.techgig.com/ankitvij">Ankit Vij</a> from Cvent India Pvt Ltd (fourth runner-up) and <a href="http://www.techgig.com/hinabhatia1">Hina Bhatia</a> from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Steria/112676715413273?fref=ts">Steria</a> (TechGig Code Diva and best women coder) - all chose Java as their preferred language to sail through the contest.

Speaking to TechGig after the finale, Surender Godara from SapientNitro said that for the first two virtual rounds, he was coding in C language but the final problems were so tough he had to switch to Java. 
 
Only the third runner-up, <a href="http://www.techgig.com/sonusingal">Sonu Singal</a> from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/algoworkstech?fref=ts">Algoworks Technologies</a>, was the lone winner to code in C# (C sharp) in the grand finale of Code Gladiators. 
 
Similar to <a href="http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2014-07-14/news/51485010_1_coding-talent-experience">the 2014 edition of TechGig Code Gladiators</a>, majority of the participants of this year’s contest too coded in Java, followed by C# and C/C++. Coders this year also turned to trending languages such as Python and Ruby.
