Over 58 lakh candidates have registered for the UP Board 2023 examinations which will begin from February 16. Of these 31.2 lakh students are for Class 10 and 27.5 lakh students are for Class 12. The examinations will be held at 8,752 centres across 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. According to the timetable for 2023 examinations released by secretary, UP Secondary Education Board, Divyakant Shukla, the Class 10 examinations will be held in 13 working days and will end on March 3. The Class 12 examinations will be held in 14 working days and will end on March 4. For the first time, UP Board examinees will get stitched answer sheets. The move is aimed at preventing the copy mafia from changing answer sheets of meritorious students because in the previous years there were complaints of changing copies by removing staples. Also, answer sheets given to the students will have barcodes and monograms on them. The initiatives are being taken with an aim to eliminate the scope of manipulation of answer sheets. The Board will also conduct random checks of some answer sheets using the barcodes which will further put a noose around those involved in copying. Over three crore answer sheets will be required for the UP Board examinations. Model exam questions for Class 10 and Class 12. Over 58 lakh candidates to take UP Board 2023 exams that'll begin on Feb 16

June turned out to be a blockbuster month for thematic/sectoral <keyword id="19929240" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mutual-funds" source="keywords">mutual funds</keyword>, which managed to amass Rs 22,351.69 crore during the month, the highest amongst all equity mutual funds. Overall, equity mutual funds saw <keyword id="19967545" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="inflows" source="keywords">inflows</keyword> worth Rs 40,537 crore, whereas debt mutual funds saw significant outflows of about Rs 1.07 lakh crore. Within this category, liquid and overnight funds saw maximum outflows. As Himanshu Srivastava, Associate Director – Manager Research, Morningstar Investment Research India noted, since June is a quarter end month, debt-oriented schemes, as expected, witnessed a net outflow. Only funds with a duration profile of less than 1 year, like low duration and money market funds, saw inflows. "The net outflow across the board could also be on the back of investors shifting towards equity markets in expectation of better returns, as the equity markets continue to touch all time high levels after the election results were announced. Between May and June, the number of folios in the debt segment fell from 7,091,977 to 7,013,214, which is a drop by 78,763 folios. In May, the number of folios fell by 26,088 folios". "Moreover, uncertainty over the interest rate cut cycle has also been keeping investors in tenterhooks. With no clarity on the probable timing for the beginning of interest rate cut cycle, investors, for a time being, would have decided to adopt a wait and watch approach and stay away from categories which are exposed to interest rate risks such as Dynamic and Gilt", he continued. <h2>SIP figures touch all-time highs</h2> As <keyword id="22344564" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="AMFI-data" source="keywords">AMFI data</keyword> further revealed, the number of new SIPs registered in June 2024 stood at a staggering 55,12,962. With this, the total number of SIP accounts in the country reached 8,98,66,962, inching up marginally from 8,75,89,485 in May 2024. SIP contributions also stood at an all-time high of ₹ 21,262.22 crores in June 2024 as against ₹ 20,904.37 crores in May 2024. The AUM of retail folios, which comprise of equity, hybrid and solution oriented was Rs 36,32,226 crores for June 2024. In <keyword id="22344565" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hybrid-schemes" source="keywords">hybrid schemes</keyword>, multi-asset allocation funds garnered Rs 3,453.12 crore in June, and Arbitrage funds saw inflows worth Rs 3,836.58 crore. The only hybrid scheme to see net outflows were conservative hybrid funds, which shed Rs 130.57 crore. June marked the 40th consecutive month of positive inflows for <keyword id="20210668" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-funds" source="keywords">equity funds</keyword> since March 2021. As Feroze Azeez, Deputy CEO, Anand Rathi Wealth Limited highlights, "SIP numbers are hitting peaks every month, accumulating a stellar ₹21,260 crore. This strengthens the fact that Indian investors are resilient and are participating in the long-term growth of the market. The overall market behaviour supported by numbers suggests that investors are strategically positioning themselves with cautious yet optimistic approach for long-term growth". Last month, the Indian MF industry hit the Rs 60 trillion mark for the first time. Exactly 10 years ago, in 2014, the industry's AUM stood at Rs 10 lakh crore. Just 6 months ago, its AUM was Rs 51 lakh crore. Anand Vardarajan, Chief Business Officer - Key Clients &amp; Alternate Investments, Tata Asset Management underlines that is growth is a huge validation when it comes to expanding retail investor's base and investors themselves choosing mutual funds as a reliable investment vehicle for wealth creation. This is further underscored by the fact that the addition in six months is equal to what the industry has seen in ten years ago! <h2>Large and Mid Cap funds find investors </h2>After garnering consistently high inflows in the recent past, small cap funds amassed Rs 2,263.47 crore, a slightly sobering figure. Midcap funds saw inflows worth Rs 2,527.84 crore. On the other hand, inflows in large-cap funds dipped at significantly to stand at Rs 970.49 crore. Far more investments went towards the large and mid-cap funds, which saw inflows worth Rs 2,912.19 crore. Melvyn Santarita, Analyst – Manager Research, Morningstar Investment Research India notes that these substantial net inflows can be attributed to the election results announced earlier in the month. Investors have remained optimistic and invested on policy continuity and anticipated reforms, expecting stability within the coalition government at the Centre. It was this optimism that propelled markets to new all-time highs. The multi-cap category witnessed the second highest net inflows in June 2024 among the equity-oriented categories amounting to INR 4,708.5 crores which was its 3rd highest net inflows ever over a monthly period. Categories which are biased towards the large-caps segment like flexicap (Rs 3,058 crores) and Value (Rs 2,027 crores) saw robust inflows during the month. "While markets have been in a prolonged bull run, there are concerns about overvaluations in certain areas, particularly in the mid and small-cap segments. Consequently, investors may be opting to invest in large-cap segments, where valuations are more favorable", Santarita highlighted. "However, they also continued their investments in mid and small caps, since the returns generated by mid and small cap segment over the last few years haven’t got unnoticed. Hence, the categories having substantial exposure in these two segments have witnessed strong net inflows. It is important to note that mid and small cap segments are highly volatile. While they can give exceptionally high return in up markets, they can fall equally hard in down markets. It’s important for investors to take exposure in these funds in line with their risk appetite", he cautioned. However, Hitesh Thakkar, Acting CEO, ITI Mutual Fund is confident of the immense wealth creation opportunities mutual funds will offer in the coming 5-7 years to retail investors. "Mutual fund is one of the preferred, transparent &amp; cost-effective investment products in India and is well accepted by retail investors. The trend is positive for Mutual fund industry future growth. There are chances that Industry will cross milestone of ₹100 lakh crores AUM by 2030”, he says. <h2><keyword id="19895579" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="gold" source="keywords">Gold</keyword> continues to glitter </h2>Net flows in Gold ETFs continued to be robust in June 2024, standing at Rs 726 crores. However, this was slightly below the net flows witnessed in May (Rs 827 crores). "Over the years, Gold has gained prominence as an effective diversifier, prompting many investors to include Gold ETFs in their portfolios. Gold prices also saw some slight correction in June which spurred buying from investors", underlines Santarita. However, the reason why inflows in gold ETFs have remained patchy as compared to equity is due to the significant gap in the returns offered. "Gold has done fairly well over the last year but dwarfs in comparison to how equities. Also, some investors could be choosing to opt for a risk-on approach to investing with the anticipation of a reversal in rate cycle going ahead", he continues.

Mutual fund AUM crosses the Rs 60 lakh crore mark, SIP nos. and AUM touch all-time highs

The <keyword id="9669599" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="common-university-entrance-test" source="Orion">Common University Entrance Test</keyword> (<keyword id="12942090" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="cuet" source="Orion">CUET</keyword>) 2022 started on Friday for admission to undergraduate courses in colleges. Around 14,90,000 candidates have registered for CUET-UG, out of which, about 8,10,000 candidates are appearing in the first slot on July 15, while about 6,80,000 candidates will appear in the second slot starting from August 4. The <keyword id="581232" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-testing-agency" source="Orion">National Testing Agency</keyword> is conducting this test at various centres in 554 cities across <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> and 10 cities outside India. <keyword id="44171" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ugc" source="Orion">UGC</keyword> President M Jagadesh Kumar said that 98 per cent candidates have been allotted CUET exam centres in their chosen cities. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), students have applied for 54,555 unique combinations of subjects under the new education policy. Significantly, under the new education policy, students have been given more freedom to choose the subjects of their choice. Due to this, unique combinations of different subjects have been created. The <keyword id="13437603" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="central-university-entrance-test" source="Orion">Central University Entrance Test</keyword> is being conducted for undergraduate courses in colleges on the basis of the class <keyword id="155806" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="xii" source="Orion">XII</keyword> syllabus only. There are no questions in the entrance test from the syllabus of any other class other than XII. The marks obtained in class XII will not be considered for admission in the colleges under CUET. 85 Indian universities will provide admission to students in undergraduate courses through this process. In the first slot, the exam will be held on July 15, 16, 19 and 20 while in the second slot it will be organised on August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Students who clear these exams will be considered eligible for admission in 90 universities. These include 43 central universities. According to the NTA, keeping in mind the large number of subjects, a specific date sheet has been prepared for each candidate. CUET-UG:  Over 8Lakh appearing in the first slot on Friday

This is the highest number of monthly UPI transactions ever since the launch of this digital payments system in 2016. The payments platform witnessed transactions worth ₹9.83 lakh crore last month. In comparison, UPI registered 5.4 billion transactions worth ₹9.6 lakh crore in March 2022, which means that the volume of transactions grew 3.28% and the value of transactions dipped 2.36% in April. UPI is among the most popular digital payments methods available in the country at the moment. After all, the system has been designed to enable payments in a matter of seconds. The average age of the House is 58. In the Senate, it's older: 63.On balance, baby boomers rule. Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York, 34, said he feels like "an infant" in Congress. Sen. Brian Schatz was the youngest member of the upper chamber when he joined in 2012 at 40. Before that, he was the youngest lieutenant governor of Hawaii, the youngest chair of the state's Democratic Party, and the youngest in the state legislature."I was always accustomed to being the youngest," Schatz told Insider at the Capitol. The now 49-year-old senator, an avid Twitter user and self-described climate hawk, said the country would be better served by voices that represent all parts of America. "Congress should look like America, and that is diversity in every way: geographic, economic, age, ethnic background," he said. New Delhi, Aug 26 () Over four lakh admit cards for medical entrance exam NEET were downloaded within three hours on Wednesday, sources said. <keyword id="7726423" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-National-Testing-Agency">The National Testing Agency</keyword> (NTA) released the admit cards for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) at 12 pm on Wednesday. "Admit cards of NEET were available for download at 12 today. Over 4 lakh candidates have downloaded in first 3 hours," sources said. While the NEET is planned on September 13, engineering entrance exam <keyword id="1373000" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-main">JEE Main</keyword> is scheduled from September 1-6. Around 9.53 lakh candidates have registered for <keyword id="1115324" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-Mains">JEE-Mains</keyword> and 15.97 lakh students have registered for NEET. Amid rising clamour for postponement of the crucial exams in view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Ministry of Education (<keyword id="343481" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Moe">MoE</keyword>) officials had reiterated on Tuesday that the exams will be conducted as per schedule in September. Increasing the number of examination centres, alternate seating plan, fewer candidates per room and staggered entry and exit are among the steps the NTA will take for safely conducting NEET and JEE next month. "The number of examination centres have also been increased from 570 to 660 (for JEE Main) and 2,546 to 3,843 (for NEET). While JEE-Mains is a computer-based test, NEET is a pen-paper test," the NTA said in a statement on Tuesday. "Additionally, in case of JEE-Mains, the number of shifts have been increased from the earlier 8 to 12, and the number of candidates per shift has been reduced from earlier 1.32 lakh to 85,000 now," it said. "In order to ensure proper social distancing inside the examination halls, the candidates will be seated in alternate seats in case of JEE-Mains. In case of NEET, the number of candidates per room has been reduced from 24 to 12," it added. For ensuring social distancing outside the examination hall, the entry and exit of candidates has been staggered. "Adequate arrangements have also been made outside the examination centers to enable candidates stand with adequate social distancing, while waiting. Candidates have also been issued an advisory guiding them about the 'Dos and Don'ts' for proper social distancing," the NTA said. There have been demands from several quarters to further postpone the entrance exams in view of increasing coronavirus cases. On Tuesday, Swedish teen climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg also threw her weight behind postponing the exams in view of the pandemic. "It's deeply unfair that students of India are asked to sit national exams during the COVID-19 pandemic and while millions have also been impacted by the extreme floods. I stand with their call to #PostponeJEE_NEETinCOVID," she said in a tweet. Several opposition leaders in India including Congress' Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, <keyword id="6357766" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="dmk">DMK</keyword> president MK Stalin and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have demanded the exams be postponed. The Supreme Court had last week dismissed a plea seeking postponement of the two exams amid spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases, saying precious year of students "cannot be wasted" and life has to go on. "We find that there is absolutely no justification in the prayer made for postponement of the examination in question relating to NEET as well as JEE-Mains," the Supreme Court had said. The NTA has also written to state governments to extend support in local movement of the candidates so that they are able to reach their examination centres on time.

Mumbai, May 5 () The rupee appreciated by 15 paise to 75.58 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday tracking positive opening of domestic equities and weakness in the American currency. Forex traders said a positive start of domestic stocks supported the local unit, while sustained foreign fund outflows and concerns over coronavirus outbreak weighed on the local unit. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 75.62, then gained ground to touch 75.58, registering a rise of 15 paise over its previous close. On Monday, the rupee had settled at 75.73 against the US dollar. Domestic bourses were trading on a positive note on Tuesday with the benchmark Sensex trading 256.81 points higher at 31,972.16 and broader Nifty rising 132.85 points to 9,426.35. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.01 per cent down at 99.47. Traders said investor sentiments remained fragile amid concerns over the impact of coronavirus outbreak on the domestic as well as global economy. In India, the death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 1,568 and the number of cases climbed to 46,433 on Tuesday, according to the health ministry. The number of cases around the world linked to the disease has crossed over 35.84 lakh and the death toll has topped 2.51 lakh. Meanwhile, foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market, as they sold equity shares worth Rs 1,373.98 crore on Monday, according to provisional exchange data. Mumbai, Apr 17 () The Indian rupee appreciated by 29 paise to 76.58 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday tracking positive opening in domestic equities, as investors awaited cues from the Reserve Bank of India to tide through the coronavirus crisis. At the interbank foreign exchange the rupee opened at 76.59, and then touched a high of 76.58 against the US dollar, registering a rise of 29 paise over its previous close. On Thursday, rupee had settled at an all-time low of 76.87 against the US dollar. Forex traders said, the domestic unit opened on a higher note as investors awaited cues from the media briefing by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. On March 27, RBI held a historic pre-term MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) meeting whererin the repo rate was cut by a record 75 basis points. The repo rate was reduced to a 15-year-low of 4.40 per cent and was also the steepest cut since October 2004. Hopes of a domestic stimulus by the government boosted investor sentiment. However, there are concerns over the impact of coronavirus outbreak on the domestic as well as global economy. The number of cases around the world linked to the new coronavirus has crossed over 21 lakh. In India, over 13,000 coronavirus cases have been reported so far. Meanwhile, domestic bourses were trading on a positive note on Friday with benchmark indices Sensex trading 971.96 points higher at 31,574.57 and Nifty up by 297.95 points at 9,290.75. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the capital market, as they sold equity shares worth Rs 2,920.36 crore on Thursday, according to provisional exchange data.
