This scheme covered 30,000 more individuals than the one that preceded it. <br /><br />The spending on the Health Ministry decreased to 2.1% of the total Union Budget from the 2.4% in 2017-18. <br /><br />There was a 2.1% decline in the allocation towards National Health Mission, a National Health Program that provides the primary healthcare infrastructure by sliding from Rs 31,292 crores (2017-18 budget) to Rs 30,634 crores (2018-19 budget).<br /><br />As part of the government’s commitment to improve the nutrition status of the Indian children, the budget for the National Nutrition Mission that addresses under-nutrition, anemia and stunting increased by three times from Rs 950 crores in the 2017-18 budget to Rs 3,000 crores in the 2018-19 budget. <br /><br />Arun Jaitley said, “The Ayushman Bharat will build a New India 2022 and ensure enhanced productivity, well-being and avert wage loss and impoverishment. These schemes will also generate lakhs of jobs, particularly for women.” He added, “The government will also set up 24 new medical colleges and hospitals and upgrade existing district hospitals in the country.”<br /><br /><strong>The other kinds of investments in budget 2018 towards health</strong><br /><br />Rs 600 crores was allotted for providing nutritional support to all the tuberculosis patients registered with the primary health centers. This scheme will spend Rs 500 per month per patient for 10 months over the full duration of the treatment provided.<br /><br />Rs 1,200 crores went for the National Health Policy, 2017 to support more than 150,000 health and wellness centers. This allotment aimed at combating the rising tide of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and other cardiovascular ailments.<br />

Beijing, Jul 10 (AP) Two World Health Organisation experts will spend the next two days in the Chinese capital to lay the groundwork for a larger mission to investigate the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. <p>One animal health expert and one epidemiologist during their visit will work to fix the "scope and terms of reference" for the future mission aimed at learning how the virus jumped from animals to humans, the statement from the United Nations body said. </p><p>Scientists believe the virus may have originated in bats, then was transmitted through another mammal such such as a civet cat or an armadillo-like pangolin before being passed on to people at a fresh food market in the central Chinese city of Wuhan late last year. </p><p>In an effort to block future outbreaks, China has cracked down on the trade in wildlife and closed some wet markets, while enforcing strict containment measures that appear to have virtually stopped new local infections. </p><p>The WHO mission is politically sensitive, with the U.S. - the organisation's top funder - moving to cut ties with it over allegations it mishandled the outbreak and is biased toward China. </p><p>More than 120 nations called for an investigation into the origins of the virus at the World Health Assembly in May. China has insisted that WHO lead the investigation and for it to wait until the pandemic is brought under control. (AP) </p><p> The U.S., Brazil and India are continuing to see an increasing number of cases. </p><p>The last WHO coronavirus-specific mission to China was in February, after which the team's leader, Canadian doctor Bruce Aylward, praised China's containment efforts and information-sharing. <keyword id="3239668" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gut-microbes">Gut microbes</keyword> have immense benefit and now, new research reports that promoting a healthy gut microbiome could protect travelers from the rigours of long <keyword id="435085" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="space-travel">space travel</keyword>.<br /><br />If humans are to ever walk on Mars, they will need to endure a long space flight, but space travel can have negative impacts on health, potentially limiting how far we can go. <br /><br />The microgravity environment can result in muscle breakdown and reduced bone mass. <br /><br />It can cause nausea, meaning that sometimes space travelers struggle to eat enough (space food isn't all that nice either). A healthy tummy is key for travelling through space finds new study

<br /><ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="6360409" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Nasa">NASA</keyword> is <a style="font-family: Georgia, Times, sans-serif;" href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/nasa-is-recruiting-for-yearlong-simulated-mars-mission">looking for volunteers</a> to live on a fake Martian surface for 12 months. </li><li>The <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/analogs">analog mission</a> will take place inside the Johnson <keyword id="41531" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="space">Space</keyword> Center in Texas.</li><li>Applicants must be aged between 30-35 and in good physical health. </li></ul><p>NASA is looking for applicants to spend a whole year pretending they live on <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/nasa-is-recruiting-for-yearlong-simulated-mars-mission">Mars</a>. </p><p>The 1,700 square-foot Martian surface is located inside the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. </p><p>These types of simulations are called <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/analogs">analog missions</a>. Insider's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/pretending-live-on-mars-nasa-research-experiment-2018-1?r=US&amp;IR=TIR=T">Alyssa Pagano reported </a>on the challenges of an eight-month analog mission in 2018.</p><p>For the newly announced mission, applications opened on Friday for four people to live on <keyword id="47638" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Mars">Mars</keyword> Dune Alpha, a 3D-printed habitat. The US agency is planning three such <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/chapea/participate">experiments, </a>with the first one due to begin next fall.</p><p>The paid volunteers will take part in a simulated Martian exploration mission, complete with spacewalks. They will only have limited contact with their families and friends back home, and must learn to cope with restricted resources and equipment failures. </p><p>The news comes as the space agency ramps up its plans to eventually set up a station on the moon and send people to Mars, as part of its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nasa-hiring-astronauts-for-missions-to-moon-mars?r=US&amp;IR=TIR=T">Artemis program</a>. </p><p>Grace Douglas, lead scientist for NASA's Advanced Food Technology research effort, said <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/feature/nasa-is-recruiting-for-yearlong-simulated-mars-mission/">in a press release</a>: "The analog is critical for testing solutions to meet the complex needs of living on the Martian surface." </p><p>She added: "Simulations on Earth will help us understand and counter the physical and mental challenges astronauts will face before they go."</p><p>Applicants will need to hold a master's degree in engineering, maths, or computer <keyword id="41551" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="science">science</keyword> and have at least two years of pilot experience. </p><p>The agency also specified that only US citizens or permanent residents qualify for the experiment. They have to be aged between 30-35 and in good physical health. He added that the rescue mission today was the "best situation."</p><p>The rescued boys were taken to&#xa0;the nearby city of Chiang Rai for hospital treatment.&#xa0;</p><p>"Our job is not completely done," Osottanakorn said. SpaceX plans to launch the mission in late 2018 aboard the upcoming Falcon Heavy launch system.</p><p>The mission will depart from Cape Canaveral's Launchpad 39A - the same pad Apollo astronauts launched from in the 1960s and 1970s. This first demonstration mission will be in automatic mode, without people on board. A subsequent mission with crew is expected to fly in the second quarter of 2018. SpaceX is currently contracted to perform an average of four Dragon 2 missions to the ISS per year, three carrying cargo and one carrying crew. By also flying privately crewed missions, which NASA has encouraged, long-term costs to the government decline and more flight reliability history is gained, benefiting both government and private missions.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Once operational Crew Dragon missions are underway for NASA, SpaceX will launch the private mission on a journey to circumnavigate the moon and return to Earth. Lift-off will be from Kennedy Space Center's historic Pad 39A near Cape Canaveral - the same launch pad used by the Apollo program for its lunar missions. This presents an opportunity for humans to return to deep space for the first time in 45 years and they will travel faster and further into the Solar System than any before them.</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">Designed from the beginning to carry humans, the Dragon spacecraft already has a long flight heritage. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Florida residents say they heard a sonic boom after a successful <a href="https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1443939567988469765">SpaceX Dragon 2 spacecraft</a> landing.</li><li>Some homeowners said they felt their properties shake as a result, according to<a href="https://www.newsweek.com/spacex-sonic-boom-cargo-dragon-capsule-florida-reentry-iss-1634610"> </a><a href="https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/florida/did-you-hear-boom/XQMK7UJH6VBQRFIC5FNB7GSGLI/">Action News Jax.</a><a href="https://www.newsweek.com/spacex-sonic-boom-cargo-dragon-capsule-florida-reentry-iss-1634610"></a></li><li>The arrival of the spacecraft marked <keyword id="11908743" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="spacex" source="Orion">SpaceX</keyword>'s 23rd commercial resupply mission to the ISS.</li></ul><p>A sonic boom was heard in parts of Florida late Thursday night after a <a href="https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1443939567988469765">SpaceX Dragon 2 spacecraft</a> successfully splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean.</p><p><a href="https://www.actionnewsjax.com/">Actions News Jax,</a> an outlet based in Jacksonville, Florida, <a href="https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/florida/did-you-hear-boom/XQMK7UJH6VBQRFIC5FNB7GSGLI/">first reported the news.</a> It received reports of a thunderous noise from people across the city, including in St Augustine and Orange Park. </p><p>Some even reported they felt their house shake as a result of the landing.</p><p>The phenomenon is a <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/centers/armstrong/news/FactSheets/FS-016-DFRC.html">sound corresponding with shock waves, </a>which is created when an object travels through the air faster than the speed of sound. </p><p>The arrival of the Cargo Dragon capsule marked the completion of <a href="https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1443772405772476417">SpaceX's 23rd commercial resupply mission</a> to the International <keyword id="11895441" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="space" source="Orion">Space</keyword> Station.</p><p>The spacecraft remained at the station for about a <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/cutting-edge-science-launches-on-nasa-s-spacex-cargo-resupply-mission-1030764889">month</a> before returning back to Earth. </p><p>Among those who spotted the spacecraft in the sky was Action <keyword id="11893589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="news" source="Orion">News</keyword> Jax reporter Dani Bozzini. She reported the sighting in a <a href="https://twitter.com/DaniANjax/status/1443775285476868097">Twitter post</a> where she wrote: "WOW!! I was able to capture @SpaceX Dragon's re-entry tonight on our way back from St Augustine. I had no idea what it was at first!" </p><p>Twitter user Derek Galloway, <a href="https://twitter.com/Derekgalloway19/status/1443819413883527169">said in a reply to the video</a>: "I was just getting in with my wife and two kids and we heard a loud boom in the whole house shook right in the middle of Orange Park Florida that's a long ways from the coast at least 45 minutes to an hour to feel it way over here."</p><p>The supply mission, known as CRS-23, launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on August 29 from <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/topic/nasa">NASA</a>'s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.</p><p>The mission delivered crew supplies, scientific research, and technology demonstrations to the ISS.</p><p>One key experiment that took place onboard included an investigation into protecting bone health using botanical byproducts. Another involved testing out ways to monitor crew eye health, <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/news/spacex-23-research-highlights">per a NASA report</a>.</p>

Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> will review next week the implementation status of some key decisions taken by the Union Cabinet, including those taken way back in July 2014. <br /><br />

	Scheduled for February 17, this will be the second such review meeting that Modi will undertake with the Council of Ministers in just about three weeks.
<br /><br />

	The 27 decisions of the Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs whose implementation status would be reviewed include the amendments to the Factories Act and the Apprentices Act, which were cleared over one and a half years ago in July 2014, sources told PTI.
<br /><br />

	PM Modi had chaired a similar meeting of the Council of Ministers on January 27 as well.
<br /><br /> Other decisions slated for implementation status review are setting up of a <keyword id="974618" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Credit-Guarantee-Fund">Credit Guarantee Fund</keyword> for providing guarantees to loans extended under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, operationalisation of Budget announcement of 2015-16 on the Atal Pension Yojana, the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. <br /><br /> The prime minister will also check progress in the <keyword id="2473706" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pradhan-Mantri-Jan-Dhan-Yojana">Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana</keyword>, the <keyword id="6562839" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swacch-Bharat-Mission">Swacch Bharat Mission</keyword> for urban areas, the Housing for All by 2022 mission, the <keyword id="946830" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Skill-Development-Mission">National Skill Development Mission</keyword>, the National Health Mission and the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana. <br /><br />

	Other such decisions relate to the National Ayush Mission, amendment to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill, 2014, setting up three new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri, Nagpur and Kalyani and strengthening of the drug regulatory system.

	The decisions relating to setting up of six new IITs and IIMs, amendment to the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, and the nationwide celebration of 125th birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar will also figure in the status review.

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><ul><li><strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/category/nat-turner">Nat Turner</a> is the cofounder and CEO of Flatiron Health, recently sold to Roche for $1.9 billion.</strong></li><li><strong>Flatiron creates software that is changing the way oncologists and researchers track and study cancer treatments.</strong></li><li><strong>Turner, 32, is a serial entrepreneur, but said this is the first time he's passionate about his company's purpose.</strong></li><li><strong>He said this mission not only has a societal benefit, but attracts better employees and investors, and inspires everyone to work harder.</strong></li><li><strong>This post is part of Business Insider's ongoing series on&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/better-capitalism/">Better Capitalism.</a></strong></li></ul><p>Nat Turner was only 24 years old when he sold his first company for $80 million, eight years ago.</p><p>It was a deal with Google that got him and his cofounder Zach Weinberg some capital and a management job at Google New York office in exchange for their ad platform, Invite Media. But it took all of one day for them to feel bored and unsatisfied.</p><p>"And we always say, our obituary one day, when we die: We don't want to say we optimized banner ads online," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nat-turner-flatiron-health-interview-2018-3">Turner told us</a> during an episode of Business Insider's podcast "<a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/success-how-i-did-it/id1205997729?mt=2">Success! How I Did It</a>."</p><p>Inspiration struck when Turner considered a question from his cousin, whose seven-year-old son was still fighting a battle with leukemia that he'd eventually win. Turner's cousin couldn't figure out why it was so difficult to find data on childhood leukemia treatments, considering that it seemed like a problem that could easily be solved by tech.</p><p>Turner and Weinberg decided to create the software that would do that, and more, which led to the creation of Flatiron Health in 2012. Today the company is valued at over $2 billion, and Turner can't imagine ever leading a company that doesn't have a purpose beyond making money.</p><p><span>"I feel more rewarded about Flatiron, beyond the money potentially everyone could make over time, because of the fact that we're actually making a difference in cancer," he said. "That's what matters most."</span></p><p><em><strong>You can subscribe to the podcast and listen to the episode below:</strong></em></p><p>Turner is, at his heart, an entrepreneur, and he has been since he was a kid (he had a thriving snake breeding business when he was 13). As he explained to us, Flatiron is the first team he's felt intimately connected to one of his companies, and he believes that's why it's been so successful.</p><p>Instead of pursuing a way to optimize ads, for example, he and his team are creating software that improves the way oncologists monitor their patients' health, and creates new channels of sharing data with researchers. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) partnered with Flatiron in 2016 because it is hopeful that one day this channel of real-world data can lead to breakthroughs in treatment that clinical trials may not accomplish alone.</p><p>Turner explained that the company's mission isn't just pushing him and Weinberg to work harder. "Everything's easier," he said. When you have passion for what you're doing, he explained, top talent and investors are drawn to your company.</p><p>It was a passion he and Weinberg exuded from the beginning, and something they never had with their earlier projects. As Google employees, they would constantly be making road trips to meet oncologists and researchers to discuss their nascent idea. "I remember, like, you don't often get so obsessed about something where you drop everything and drive to Boston and meet with people for 14 hours, taking notes, losing your voice, with no idea just to learn," he said.</p><p>The Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche announced in February it was buying Flatiron Health for $1.9 billion. But unlike his last deal, he's not looking to see what's next.</p><p><span>He said that he already considers Flatiron his "life's work," and the deal is just "</span>validation that the work we did and are doing is important. It gives us resources to continue the mission." And as part of the deal, Roche is letting Turner run the company the way he wants to.</p><p>He said that he had to reassure his employees after the announcement that the company was remaining independent, which he knew was only possible because of its purpose.</p><p>"It's very important to people that it's still Flatiron," he said. The CEO of a $2 billion startup says there's a fundamental reason this company is so much more successful than his previous ones

<p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>If you were given the chance to spend a year in space, would you?</p><p>That's what NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko have signed on for. They will float aboard the International Space Station this Friday, March 27 not to return until March of 2016.</p><p>On one hand, they will be the first to live on the ISS for a full year - and performing somersaults in a weightless environment while watching Earth spin through space sounds pretty glamorous.</p><p>But on the other hand, these long-term space dwellers will potentially experience some rather unpleasant physical affects. These include a loss of bone and muscle mass, impaired vision, weakened immune system, and increased flow of bodily fluid to the brain, to name just a few. And that's just what we know will happen in the first six months.</p><p>To better understand why some astronauts adjust to space better than others, as well as study what happens to the body beyond six months is why NASA's one-year experiment is so important.</p><p>"We know a lot about [the first] six months but we know almost nothing about what happens between 6 and 12 months in space," NASA chief scientist for the orbiting laboratory, Julie Robinson, said during <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cehHygZhh-Q&amp;list=PL2aBZuCeDwlTSpq23D5AiOuUAilaQUJrE&amp;index=2">an interview</a> uploaded to the NASA YouTube January 15.</p><p>Kelly and Kornienko could develop never-before-seen or much-worse-than-expected adverse health affects during the latter half of their stay.</p><p>Still think they're the lucky ones?</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table full"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Lucky or not, their one-year mission as a <keyword id="41551" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="science">science</keyword> lab experiment is a crucial pioneering effort to help mankind plan a crewed mission to Mars, which will take as long as 30 months, according to this <a href="https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=957432870956311&amp;pnref=story">NASA video</a>.</p><p>"Even though it's only two crew members, it really gives us our first glimpse at what happens from 6 to 12 months and what risks are there that we don't know about today," Robinson said in the interview. "And then that will help us both to design future research and also to identify those risks. And then to define the future one-year expeditions that we may need to do to make sure those risks have been taken care of and we're ready to go to Mars."</p><h1>The most complicated ISS experiment</h1><p>One of the coolest things about space is also the most detrimental to our health: weightlessness.</p><p>Without gravity, the flow of fluid in our bodies reverses direction from down to the feet to up toward the chest and head, like in the GIF below:</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table full"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>This shift in direction leads to all sorts of complications like a puffy face, shrinking leg mass, and in some cases impaired vision. Scientists like Robinson also suspect it could affect other parts of the body, like on cardiovascular health, which is why Robinson and her colleagues have designed the most complicated experiment ever done on the ISS, she said.</p><p>Kelly and Kornienko will be strapped to a device that will use pressure to literally suck the fluids in their body down toward their legs, temporarily acting like gravity on Earth. Scientists on board the ISS will then use ultrasound and other instruments to study what affect this has on the astronauts' blood vessels, Robinson explained.</p><p>"This is going to be a really novel investigation and give us some insights we've never had before into the overall fluid shift and eye impact problem," Robinson said during the interview.</p><p>Moreover, Kelly and Kronienko will be completing a number of other experiments that will monitor not only changes in their physical health but their mental health, as well. What's the point in going to Mars if the confined isolation has stolen your sanity by the time you get there?</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Each man will, for example, keep a journal that will give some insight into their emotional and psychological states throughout the year.
