<ul><li>This Nokia phone offers an upgraded experience to those who want a stock Android smartphone in the budget segment. </li><li>The device, true to its promise, delivers a bloatware-free experience, standing apart from the competition. </li><li>But is the clean software enough to justify the slightly less powerful hardware when compared to other phones? I find out in my review. </li></ul>The <keyword id="10355180" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nokia-5-4">Nokia 5.4</keyword> is the latest smartphone from Finland-based <keyword id="3368145" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="HMD-Global">HMD Global</keyword> to launch in India, promising to offer a clean and bloatware-free experience. As part of the Android One programme, Nokia smartphones offer 3 years of monthly security updates and 2 years of operating system updates. While this is an added advantage if you want to buy a Nokia smartphone, you might have to sacrifice a bit in terms of hardware features. A similar pattern is evident with the Nokia 5.4, but a great smartphone is a sum of its good software and hardware. HMD Global tries to strike a balance between the two aspects with the Nokia 5.4, so I was intrigued to see how it actually works out in real life. Nokia 5.4 price and availability The phone is priced at ₹13,999 for the 4GB variant, and ₹15,499 for the 6GB variant. It comes in two colours – Polar Night and Dusk. The front of the phone is noticeable for its thick chin with the Nokia branding. <div type="image" title="Nokia 5.4 back" msid="81034243" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Nokia 5.4 back&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> On the back, the company has opted for a gradient finish but the glossy plastic panel makes it a fingerprint magnet. It does look good but you might want to use a case if a clean phone is important to you. The build quality is good and there are no noticeable squeaky noises. The phone has a 6.39-inch display that gets bright enough in most situations when you’re indoors. However, readability takes a hit under direct sunlight. On the downside, the display resolution is just HD+. For context, most phones in this price range feature a Full HD+ display. The immediate effect of this is on media consumption – the video quality is restricted to just 720p. Software One of the key selling points of the Nokia 5.4 is its software. It comes with Android 10 out of the box and should receive the Android 11 update in the near future. <div type="image" title="Nokia 5 4 software" msid="81035127" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The Nokia 5.4 offers a clean and clutter-free experience&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Sticking to its promise of a clean experience, the Nokia 5.4 comes without any bloatware. This comes as a breath of fresh air – more so because there is a dearth of Android One smartphones, with the only comparable alternative being the Xiaomi Mi A3 which was launched in 2019. The Nokia 5.4 should have come with Android 11 out of the box, especially since Google announced Android 11 back in September, 2020. That being said, it is expected to get the update in the near future. Performance and battery life The Nokia 5.4 was mostly a smooth performer, especially while performing basic tasks like messaging, calling, streaming music or videos. I noticed minor stutters while scrolling across the interface, but those were few and far between. <div type="image" title="Nokia 5.4" msid="81034313" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Nokia 5.4&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Given that the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 662 chipset, I had not expected a lot from it, especially when it comes to gaming. I was able to play some basic puzzle games like 2048, Sudoku, and even Subway Surf without any issues. However, the phone stuttered while playing graphic-intensive games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9. The Nokia 5.4 is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that easily lasted me an entire day of usage, with dozens of calls, hundreds of messages and moderate video streaming. In real life, the Nokia 5.4 delivers okay-ish results. Theoretically, phones like the Poco M3, Poco M2 Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Realme 7 offer similar or better hardware at comparable prices. However, the software experience redeems the Nokia 5.4, especially if you prefer a bloatware-free experience. If you want a clean, clutter-free experience, the Nokia 5.4 is a good option. Around 502 <keyword id="6374174" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sugar-mills">sugar mills</keyword> of the country together produced 233.77 <keyword id="9324380" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="lakh-tonnes">lakh tonnes</keyword> of <keyword id="31653" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sugar">sugar</keyword> in the early five months of the current sugar season 2020-21 as compared to 194.82 lakh tonnes produced by 453 mills last season till February 29, 2020, the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said on Wednesday. Sugar production in the ongoing season 2020-21 (October-September) has increased by 38.95 lakh tonnes or 19.99 per cent from <keyword id="1799114" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="last-year">last year</keyword>. The largest quantity of sugar has been produced in <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> so far in the ongoing season as sugar production in the state has surged over 67 per cent as compared to last year. Sugar mills of Maharashtra produced 84.85 lakh tonnes of the sweetener till February 28 this year, compared with 50.70 lakh tonnes produced last year same period. Out of 188 sugar mills operated in the state in the current season, 12 sugar mills have ended their crushing due to non-availability of cane in their area, most of them in Solapur region while 25 sugar mills had ended their operations. As on February 28 2021, 176 sugar mills were crushing as against 120 sugar mills last year on February 29, 2020 in Maharashtra. In Uttar Pradesh, 109 sugar mills are in operation currently, while 11 mills have stopped their crushing operations, most of them in Eastern Uttar Pradesh region. These mills in the state have produced 74.20 lakh tones of sugar till February 28, 2021, compared with 76.86 lakh tonnes produced by 119 mills as on February 29, 2020. In case of Karnataka, till February 28, 2021, 66 sugar mills operated in the current season and have produced 40.53 lakh tones, as compared to 32.60 lakh tones produced by 63 sugar mills which operated last year, till February 29, 2020. During the current season, out of 66 mills which operated, 52 mills have already ended their crushing. Last year in the same period, out of 63 sugar mills which operated, 34 sugar mills had ended their crushing operations by Feb 29, 2020. Gujarat has produced 7.49 lakh tones of sugar till February 28, 2021. Out of 15 sugar mills operated this year, one sugar mill has ended its operation. Last year, similar number of sugar mills were in operation and they had produced 6.83 lakh tonnes of sugar till February 29, 2020. In case of <keyword id="20154" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="tamil-nadu">Tamil Nadu</keyword>, 26 sugar mills commenced their crushing operations so far for 2020-21 SS and have produced 3.16 lakh tonnes of sugar, as compared to 3.37 lakh tonnes produced by 21 sugar mills in 2019-20. The remaining states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Uttarakhand, <keyword id="6354953" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="punjab">Punjab</keyword>, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Odisha have collectively produced 23.54 lakh tonnes of sugar till February 28, 2021. The Moto G30 is a step-up when compared to other recently launched Motorola phones. It is still a budget phone but it packs in a little more power and features. The hardware is similar to the Realme 7i that is priced similarly and the bloat-free interface might help keep the experience smooth. While it does feel solid to hold, Motorola could have improved the experience by using a subtle curved back design. There were no squeaks and the phone didn't flex. It almost feels as if it’s built like a tank. <div type="image" title="Moto G30 front" msid="81407317" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G30 display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Moto G30 sports a 6.5-inch HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. The display size and refresh rate are positives, and while the resolution is low, it is acceptable at this price point. I also struggled a bit when viewing the contents on the phone under direct sunlight. Overall, Motorola could have done a better job with the design and display. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software" comment="subhead" text="Software">Software</cmsannotation> Software is one of the strengths of the Moto G30. It comes with Android 11 installed out of the box, and despite offering an almost-stock Android experience, Motorola has included several customisation options without breaking the user experience. The phone comes with the Moto app pre-installed which lets you customise the theme with different colour schemes and icon shapes. You can also enable up to six different gestures to quickly access the camera, turn on the flashlight, unlock the phone and more. If you are a stock Android fan but still want some customisation options, then the Moto G30 could be on your list. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance and battery life" comment="subhead" text="Performance and battery life">Performance and battery life</cmsannotation> Motorola has opted for a Snapdragon 662 chipset which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s no 6GB version, which might be a bummer for those who want to future-proof their phones. In terms of real-world usage, the Moto G30 was adequately fast and smooth. The Snapdragon 662 chipset is no slouch, but it’s not very powerful either. While the general usage was smooth enough, I did notice some minor stutters while gaming and scrolling. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and supports 20W fast charging. It lasted me an entire day easily with moderate gaming, streaming, messaging and calls. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Camera" comment="subhead" text="Camera">Camera</cmsannotation> <div type="image" title="Moto G30 camera" msid="81407350" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G30 camera&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Moto G30 comes with a quad-camera setup, with a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP wide angle camera and two 2MP cameras. This has been an issue with some Motorola phones and we hope it gets sorted out via updates. The phone does struggle a bit in slightly more challenging conditions, especially when indoors and with the macro mode enabled. Display The Galaxy F62 comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, with Full HD+ resolution just like the one on the Galaxy M51. It is bright, crisp and also supports Widevine L1 certification, which is needed if you want to stream content in Full HD resolution. However, it is a 60Hz panel, unlike the OnePlus Nord which comes with a 90Hz display. In my usage, the phone was readable even under direct sunlight. It has a hole punch notch on the top that houses the selfie camera. Software Samsung packs in plenty of features with its custom skin One UI. The Galaxy F62 comes with Android 11 and One UI 3.1 out of the box – both being the latest versions currently available. You can start using the Galaxy F62 out of the box without any customization and you will still appreciate the balance Samsung has struck in terms of ease of use and power features like the Edge panel that houses shortcuts. If that is not enough, you can customise the phone to your heart’s content by going into the Settings and playing with the options available. Overall, Samsung’s One UI skin offers a great balance between simplicity, performance and customizability. Performance and battery life The Galaxy F62 is powered by the Exynos 9825 chipset that promises to deliver fast performance, rivalling its competitors or even exceeding them. It is paired with up to 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. In my tests, I found that the Galaxy F62 delivers smooth performance in regular usage. There were no noticeable lags or stutters in apps, browsing the internet or using the camera. Even while playing games, the performance was smooth for the most part – but after extended sessions of gaming, the phone did heat up a bit, which is fairly normal for most phones. In terms of battery life, it has a massive 7,000mAh battery that refuses to die out in a single day. With normal usage, I could easily complete two days on a single charge, which is impressive no matter what. The downside of this big battery is the weight – at 218 grams, the Galaxy F62 can seem a bit heavy, but it’s easy to get adjusted once you use it for a while. It has been priced aggressively in a segment that is increasingly getting crowded. What helps the F62 set itself apart is the software, performance, battery life and arguably, even the cameras. The overall package that Samsung has delivered here means the Galaxy F62 is worth considering if you are looking for a phone under ₹25,000. Samsung Galaxy F62 review – the new mid-range killer

I’m not a city guy. Growing up in the suburbs, some memories still stick. Baba’s office senior bought a swanky penthouse in the city. Cut to the housewarming party. The company MD arrives. Everybody stands up. I hear a ring. The MD takes out a black alien device. I remember reading the words ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Blackberry">Blackberry</a>’. That’s the enduring image most 90s kids have – their rich dads, or richer neighborhood uncles using a device that doubled up as a weapon if you’re cornered in an alley. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Blackberry">Blackberry</a>, you were the voluptuous diva of the 90s. A symbolic, if possible polite middle finger to announce one has arrived. The coolest features were ‘email’ and ‘camera’. Then the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=iPhone">iPhone</a> boomed, smartphones, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Android">Android</a>, and cut to now. The world went and got itself into a goddamn hurry. 
 
Your bullishness to have an enterprise focused OS proved fatal. When most brands jumped on the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Android">Android</a> bandwagon, you took your time. Today, the then leader Nokia’s dead, and it’s too late for you too. While you’ve pledged to keep the Priv secure, nobody cares while <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Apple">Apple</a>’s around. 
 
I repeat, there’s nothing wrong with you baby. You just ain’t the ‘cool crowd' anymore. Your forte, the QWERTY keypad is now a double-edged sword. It’s what makes the Priv special, and also a deal-breaker. 
 
The Priv is attractive (a bit fat though) and has a 5.4-inch quad HD display with Gorilla Glass 4. The display’s sharp, and the colors vibrant. The 18-megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach camera is fine, even though the 2-megapixel selfie camera sucks. 
 
Hardware isn't top class, but won't disappoint either. It’s a 64-bit Snapdragon 808 hexa-core system-on-chip (SoC). It handles hardware-intensive games and multi-tasking well, though the device will get a bit hot. The Priv's 3,410mAh battery may not be better than the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Samsung+Galaxy+Note+5">Samsung Galaxy Note 5</a> or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Samsung+Galaxy+S6">Samsung Galaxy S6</a>, but we’ll let that pass too. 
 
In the age of vulgar specifications, ‘fine’ isn’t just fine anymore. You just ain’t got the booty to attract eyeballs. Every design is done to death, what ‘new’ could you possibly bring to the table. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=LeEco">LeEco</a> sells metal body for Rs. 10,999, and fingerprint sensor wielding <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Coolpad">Coolpad</a> Note 3 Lite comes as cheap as Rs. 6,999. Also, these despos (slang for desperate individuals) are slashing prices left, right and center to get my attention. They make me feel special. At Rs. 62,000 you’re not a part of that rat race either darling. Why even try! 
 
Maybe you’ll find the rare suitor – one who’s uncompromisingly on his need for a physical keyboard, that security pedigree, and access to the full <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Android">Android</a> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=App+Store">App Store</a>. Maybe it’s the same retired business honcho who’s been cribbing about typing on glass. But how many folks like that will you fish out! My friend Justin typed out his 7,000 words postgraduate dissertation on his <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=iPhone">iPhone</a>. 
 
It’s the world where everybody wants to swipe right to a night of boom boom (I meant shooting games). You ain’t getting any action buddy! 
 
People don’t base their buys on nostalgia. It’s cold and hard capitalism – ‘how much more can I get at a lesser price’, and everybody’s in on it. Don’t let anybody else tell you otherwise. Few romantics pay more on ‘design’ and ‘flexibility’, but they’re mostly sidelined as snobs and geeks anyway. 
 
Listen, I don’t want this to be bad breakup. You were my dream. Don’t ruin it for me. I’d love to love you, but I’m sorry. I’m joining the queue for the next Mi/Lenovo sale. It’s been good knowing you <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Blackberry">Blackberry</a>, but it’s time you move on.

However, the first look at the phone is enough to tell you it is an entry-level device. The plastic build doesn’t inspire confidence, and the phone feels blocky to hold. <div type="image" title="Moto E7 Power" msid="81102473" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto E7 Power&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> As far as design and build quality are concerned, Motorola could have done a better job. The buttons on the right feel wonky to use, but thankfully, there were no squeaky noises during my tests. The phone sports a 6.5-inch HD+ display, with slightly thick bezels and a noticeably thick chin. The display gets bright enough indoors, but readability under direct sunlight can be challenging. The colour reproduction is good and uniform. Software Software is unarguably the biggest strength of the Moto E7 Power. It runs on stock Android with almost zero bloatware. This comes as a breath of fresh air in this price segment, so kudos to Motorola -- owned by Chinese firm Lenovo -- for this. It comes with the Facebook app bundled, but it can be uninstalled. Apart from this, the Moto E7 Power sticks to stock Android, with zero modifications to the interface. It does have a dedicated button to summon Google Assistant, which can be useful if you use it frequently. The one area where Motorola could have done better is the Android version – the Moto E7 Power comes with Android 10 out of the box instead of Android 11, which has been out for over 5 months now. Performance and battery life An octa-core MediaTek chipset drives the phone, paired with up to 4GB memory and 64GB storage. In my tests, I noticed the Moto E7 Power stutter while scrolling and navigating. However, it is worth remembering that this is an entry-level phone, so sheer power is not the important consideration here. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that lasts for over a day of usage, with intermittent calls and messages, streaming a few videos on YouTube and browsing social media. It comes with a standard 10W charger. The phone struggled a bit in slightly more challenging conditions. Essentially, the camera is serviceable but you shouldn’t expect it to do wonders. Verdict The Moto E7 Power is an entry-level smartphone and as such, the primary focus is on the basics like the software and ease of use. It does well in these two areas since it runs on stock Android and features almost no bloatware. The memory and storage are adequate as well, so that is another point in Motorola’s favour. The display quality and camera performance could have been better, though. The design and build feel unfinished, too. But if you need a simple, no-frills entry-level phone, the Moto E7 Power is worth considering. But the clean, near-stock Android experience is not the main selling point of the Moto G10 Power – it’s the battery life. When you combine a budget smartphone that doesn’t use a lot of power with a big 6,000mAh battery, the end result is a phone that refuses to die for days. However, is that enough? This is not bad in itself, and it doesn’t really hinder usability, but there are slimmer phones out there that feel much better to hold. The primary reason for this is, of course, the big 6,000mAh battery. The phone has curves on the sides to make it easier to hold the device, but you still can’t escape the fact that this is a thick phone, and at 220 grams, it is heavy, too. <div type="image" title="Moto G10 Power" msid="81583656" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G10 Power&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> Another area where Motorola could have done a better job is the design of the phone’s back. It has a textured back, but the choice of the colour shade makes it a little less appealing. But apart from that, the phone is sturdy and feels solid to hold. Like the G30, this phone also feels as if it’s built like a tank – something that cannot always be said about phones these days. <div type="image" title="Moto G10 Power" msid="81583663" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Moto G10 Power&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Moto G10 Power sports a 6.5-inch HD+ resolution display. It is bright enough at 100% brightness level, but anything less than 60% brightness is too dull in regular indoor usage. I also struggled a bit while trying to use the phone under direct sunlight. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software" comment="subhead" text="Software">Software</cmsannotation> It runs on stock Android with almost zero bloatware. This is one of the highlights of the device as most devices in this range feature a custom UI and come with several pre-loaded apps. The built-in Motorola app allows you to customise the phone in terms of themes, colour schemes and icon shapes. You can also enable up to six different gestures to quickly access the camera, turn on the flashlight, unlock the phone and more. If you want a budget phone that doesn’t flood you with ads and bloatware, the Moto G10 Power should be on your list. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Performance and battery life" comment="subhead" text="Performance and battery life">Performance and battery life</cmsannotation> Running the Moto G10 Power is the Snapdragon 460 chipset, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The internal storage can be expanded using a microSD card. To put it bluntly, the Moto G10 Power is not the smoothest phone in this price segment. The bloat-free operating system is an advantage, but it does not completely make up for the lack of power. Switching between apps, clicking photos or even scrolling might sometimes test your patience, but then again, there’s only so much you can expect from an entry-level phone. The highlight of the phone is its massive 6,000mAh battery, and it shines in real world usage. Overall, the cameras are serviceable but nothing to write home about. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Verdict" comment="subhead" text="Verdict">Verdict</cmsannotation> The Moto G10 Power is aimed at those who want an ad-free, bloat-free smartphone under ₹10,000 with amazing battery life. It gets those things right, and everything beyond that is an added bonus. Sure, it might not be the snappiest, smoothest phone in this segment but it is one of the longest-lasting phones amongst its competitors. <li>A solid day on the Nikkei failed to translate to gains on other Asian indexes. The Japanese index finished up 0.54%, while Australia's S&amp;P/ASX 200 fell -0.67% and Korea's Kospi was off -0.04%. European markets were all lower, with France's CAC 40 trailing most at -0.89%. U.S. futures were pointing lower.</li>
<li>It's a slower day for data today in advance of Thursday and Friday's big job numbers. International trade data for July prints at 8:30 am, and consensus is for a trade gap of -$39 billion against -$34.2 billion prior. We'll also get motor vehicle sales and ICSC-Goldman same-store sales. Weekly mortgage applications were up 1.3%, while refis gained 2%, both up from prior week's readings. The purchase index fell -2.4% to -0.4%.</li>
<li>Early commodities trading saw most goods moving lower, with gold and NYMEX-traded crude both down more than -0.6%. <a href="http://projects.nytimes.com/live-dashboard/syria#sha=4ae2a67c3">The Senate Foreign Relations committee will likely vote today on a resolution authorizing President Obama to carry out a limited strike on Syria</a>. </li>
<li>Goldman Sachs economist Alec Phillips writes this morning that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-goldmans-take-on-the-flurry-of-events-about-to-happen-in-washington-dc-2013-9#ixzz2dv3t7Alk">a Syria strike could actually preempt the fight over a debt ceiling</a>. "Beyond the direct implications of authorizing force, we believe this may also have two indirect implications: first, it increases the already high likelihood that Congress will approve a temporary extension of spending authority, avoiding a partial government shutdown. Second, it makes it slightly more likely that Congress will provide partial relief from the spending cuts under sequestration, though our base case is that they remain in place."</li>
<li>Eurozone retail sales grew just 0.1% against 0.4% expected, and Eurozone composite PMI just missed expectations at 51.5 (analysts were expecting 51.7). But there was solid news out of the UK, where the services sector index ticked 60.5 against 60.2 prior, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/uk-services-pmi-2013-9">the highest level in more than six years.</a> And the Eurozone's GDP <a href="http://www.ft.com/fastft?post=36702">is growing by 0.3%, confirming the preliminary reading.</a> Portugal saw the largest Q/Q growth at 1.1%.</li>
<li>LinkedIn shares took a dip in after-hours trading after the tech firm announced it would <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/linkedin-1-billion-offer-filing-2013-9">float an additional $1 billion in stock. </a>The stock was off about 2% to $241.</li>
<li>Some are convinced Nokia head <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/why-nokio-chief-stephen-elop-is-a-favorite-to-be-microsofts-next-ceo-2013-9#ixzz2dv6X9KAL">Stephen Elop will take over Microsoft from Steve Ballmer, Reuters reports</a>. "People are looking for Microsoft to go through some dramatic change," said Kevin Walkush, an analyst at Jensen Investment Management, which holds Microsoft shares. "He has a very good understanding of what happens at Microsoft, and he has made hard decisions in the face of big challenges. It's a pretty strong combination." </li>
<li>Silvio Berlusconi, who despite his recent conviction on tax fraud charges remains the leader of a crucial party in Italy's ruling coalition, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/italy-is-getting-slammed-as-berlusconi-threatens-to-pull-the-plug-2013-9">said he was considering "pulling the plug" on the government if he is forced to give up his seat.</a> As a result, Italy's FTSE MIB index is down nearly 2%.</li>
<li>India's Rupee gained some ground after heavy intervention from India's central bank in the form of dollar sell-offs. The sovereign improved 0.6% to 67.23/25. Support also came from Raghuram Rajan's first day in office at the Reserve Bank of India.</li>
