Finance Minister <keyword id="129243" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nirmala-sitharaman" source="Orion">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> on Tuesday made a strong case for regulating cryprocurrencies at a global level to mitigate the risk of money laundering and terror funding. Participating at a high-level panel discussion organised by the IMF, the Finance Minister said that as long as the non-governmental activity of the <keyword id="2721952" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="crypto" source="Orion">crypto</keyword> assets was through unhosted wallets, the regulation was going to be very difficult. However, she said, cross border payments between countries will become very effective through Central Bank-driven digital currencies. "The risk which worries me more on the non-governmental domain is essentially you're looking at unhosted wallets across the borders, across the globe... So, regulation cannot be done by a single country within its terrain through some effective method and for doing it across the borders, technology doesn't have a solution which will be acceptable to various sovereigns at the same time applicable within each of the territory," she said. The risks involved will have to be differentially approached, because for each user case, the risks can also be different, depending on the economy, she said during a panel discussion on the topic 'Money at a Crossroad: Public or Private Digital Money?' Citing an example, Sitharaman said application of regulation and risk involved for Nigeria would be different from a tourism or investment rich Bahamas. Stressing that regulation using technology will have to be so adept and nimble that it should not be behind the curve. It has to be ahead and this is not possible if any one country thinks that it can handle it, she said. Pointing out that unless there's going to be a global approach at regulating and understanding of the technology on cryptocurrencies there is a risk of money laundering. "I harp on that very much because I think the biggest risk for all countries across the board will be on the money laundering aspect, and also on the aspect of currency being used for financing terror," she said. With regard to taxing income generated from transactions in crypto assets, Sitharaman said it is a means to check the source and trail but not to legitimise them. "We haven't said that this is currency. We haven't said that this has intrinsic value, but certain operations are taxable for the sovereign and that is why we have taxed," she said. Budget 2022-23 proposed a 30 per cent tax on income from transactions in crypto assets and also imposed a 1 per cent TDS (tax deducted at source) on transactions in such asset classes above a certain threshold. "We did announce that on the income that was generated out of the transactions of these crypto assets will be taxed at 30 per cent and over and above that, there is a 1 per cent tax deduction at source which is also imposed on every transaction. So through that we will be able to know who's buying and who's selling it," she said. On the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), she said, it is going to happen sometime this year. RBI is planning to come out with a central bank-backed digital currency using blockchain technology in 2022-23. Cryptocurrency could be used for money laundering and terror funding, says Indian finance minister

They have downgraded their recommendations as they believe the stocks have priced in all the positives that could fuel the rally further. <div type="image" title="Dixon Technologies" msid="80851182" hostid="261"></div> According to analysts at ICICI Securities, the stock has already factored in rise in higher revenue from TVs, production-linked incentive-driven revenues in making smartphone parts, traction in 2G phones, set-top boxes, capacity-driven growth in LED lights, and washing machines. And thus, it may not see a huge rally in the near term. High commodity prices and increased custom duty may contract its margins As per the IIFL research report, the company, during its investor conference call, said they are witnessing pressure on the margin as commodity prices and freight cost have risen. The margin contracted 318 basis points (bps) in the third quarter, and the pressure is expected to continue in the fourth quarter as well. 100 basis points make up 1%. Dixon gets nearly 70% of its revenue from mobile manufacturing, which it makes on behalf of brands like Samsung, Motorola and Reliance Jio. However, the government is yet to release the scheme's details. The commercial production for Nokia has started, while for Motorola it is expected to begin in March this year, post completion of all audits, the management revealed to analysts. According to the IIFL report, Motorola will cover almost two-third of the PLI thresholds for Dixon and will represent 15-20% of its global volumes in the next four years, whereas manufacturing for Nokia is for the domestic market. Lighting business continues to offer strong growth optionalities The lighting sales grew 26% year-on-year to ₹350 crore— nearly 16% of total sales. This vertical may continue to grow as there is room for expanding both product lines and entering new markets. "Dixon is already exporting to the USA and Indonesia for its anchor customer and is hopeful of large international orders from overseas retail chains," a Nirmal Bang report said. New Delhi, Feb 28 () India's fiscal deficit touched 128.5 per cent of the whole year budget target at January-end, said the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) on Friday.The deficit during the same period during 2018-19 was 121.5 per cent of that year's Revised Budget Estimate (RE).In actual terms, the fiscal deficit or gap between the expenditure and revenue stood at Rs 9,85,472 crore. The government had targeted to restrict the fiscal deficit at Rs 7,66,846 crore during the year ending March 31, 2020.While presenting the Union Budget to Parliament earlier this month, Finance Minister Nirmalal Sitharaman had raised fiscal deficit target to 3.8 per cent of the GDP from 3.3 per cent pegged earlier for 2019-20 due to revenue shortage.As per the CGA data on monthly accounts, revenue receipts during April-January were at Rs 12.5 lakh crore or 67.6 per cent of the RE for 2019-20. This compares with 68.3 per cent of the RE in the previous fiscal.Total receipts were at 66.4 per cent of RE as against 67.5 per cent in the year-ago period.The CGA further said that total expenditure at January-end was Rs 22.68 lakh crore or 84.1 per cent of RE, higher than 81.5 per cent in the corresponding period of the last fiscal. majority of the revenue is earned from this segment (close to 98-99%). We have a positive view of the company from the long term perspective, given government support to the infrastructure sector, high experience in the execution of road projects, technical capabilities and stable financials.” Strong order book and financial performance Over the last two decades, GR Infra has transformed itself from a small regional player to a pan-India EPC company. Order book of the company grew from a meagre ₹1,700 crore in FY14 to a massive ₹19,000 crore, said a report by Prabhudas Lilladher. Its revenue has seen strong 33% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the last three years (much higher than listed peers), primarily driven by strong order intake and expansion in new geographies The company has three manufacturing facilities -- one each in Rajasthan, Assam and Uttar Pradesh -- for the manufacturing of key raw materials and also a fabrication and galvanizing unit in Gujarat. All these enable it to be less dependent on third party equipment providers and also efficiently manage its project execution schedules. In FY19, FY20 and FY21, the company executed 80%, 50% and 50%, respectively, of the projects prior to the completion dates, said Choice Broking in a report. Robust track record With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, GR Infraprojects’ promoters and management team have a track record of timely executing over 100 road construction projects since 2006. “With superior project management capabilities and integrated business model, the company received ₹280 crore as early completion bonus in its projects,” said a report by Prabhudas Lilladher. The company’s order book of ₹19,000 crore is well diversified across the country (Uttar Pradesh -- 23%, Madhya Pradesh -- 18%, Maharashtra -- 14%, Gujarat -- 13%), but concentrated in the roads segment at 97%.
