When election fever hits India, <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword>, too, must have its say. Even before the horrex thrill of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/movies/Box-Office-RaginiMMS-2-Thrills-All-Gang-Of-Ghosts-Lacks-Finesse/articleshow/32673836.cms">Ragini MMS 2</a> could be well purged out of our system, cine-goers had to face a ‘thoughtful’ <keyword id="2179860" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Political-movie">political movie</keyword> in the form of <keyword id="499327" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="youngistaan">Youngistaan</keyword>, starring <keyword id="37379" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jackky-Bhagnani">Jackky Bhagnani</keyword>, <keyword id="21114" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Neha-Sharma">Neha Sharma</keyword> and the late <keyword id="27989" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Farooque-Sheikh">Farooque Sheikh</keyword>. The other two releases on Friday the 28th included <keyword id="2179863" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Underworld-action-flick">underworld action flick</keyword> <keyword id="2025912" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dishkiyaoon">Dishkiyaoon</keyword> and the comedy movie <keyword id="1669247" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="O-Teri">O Teri</keyword>. Although the themes and the genres vary widely, there’s one thing in common about these Bollywood flicks – all three had a <keyword id="2179866" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Poor-opening-day">poor opening day</keyword> at home, with low occupancies ranging from 5-10%. And the <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> numbers did not look up even after Day 5. 
 Directed by debutant <keyword id="2071198" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Syed-Ahmad-Afzal">Syed Ahmad Afzal</keyword>, Youngistaan is still the best as far as content and <keyword id="1996031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Box-office-performance">box office performance</keyword> go. The movie netted Rs 3.79 crore at the <keyword id="827271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Domestic-Box-Office">domestic box office</keyword> during the opening weekend while Dishkiyaoon netted Rs 3.45 crore in the first three days and O Teri just managed to nett Rs 2.45 crore, according to trade figures. 
 
Youngistaan, however, saw a sharp fall in revenues on the crucial Day 4 (Monday, March 31), netting around Rs 75 lakh, while Day 5 (April 1) collections were estimated to be a little over Rs 50 lakh, according to some industry sources. Going by the current trend, the movie may turn out to be a huge flop as it has been made on a budget of Rs 22-23 crore and opened across 1,000 theatres in India. 
 
The storyline of Youngistaan is intriguing enough, though. Here, you have a young <keyword id="1043723" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Game-developer">game developer</keyword> <keyword id="2179870" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Abhimanyu-Kaul">Abhimanyu Kaul</keyword> (Jackky Bhagnani) living in <keyword id="6355311" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Japan">Japan</keyword> with his girlfriend <keyword id="2179850" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anwita-Chauhan">Anwita Chauhan</keyword> (Neha Sharma). But things turn topsy-turvy when Dad <keyword id="2179873" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dashrath-Kaul">Dashrath Kaul</keyword> (he is also the <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">prime minister</keyword> of India) suddenly dies and Abhimanyu is forced to step into his shoes. The rest could have been mayhem, but the <keyword id="2179851" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="young-PM">young PM</keyword> seems to be handling it all (except his love life) with incredible efficiency. We do believe that is the weakest part of the movie – the incredible ease of things. However, one can’t help admiring Farooque Sheikh who handholds the <keyword id="2179854" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="novice-politician">novice politician</keyword> throughout the twists and turns. It is definitely worth a watch but tends to get too predictable at the end. As Shubha Shetty-Saha of Mid-Day says, “While the film has a very interesting premise, it is totally diluted by lazy scriptwriting and sketchy direction.” 
 
 
 
As for Dishkiyaoon, starring the likes of <keyword id="9271" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sunny-Deol">Sunny Deol</keyword>, <keyword id="13128" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Harman-Baweja">Harman Baweja</keyword> and newcomer <keyword id="322563" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ayesha-Khanna">Ayesha Khanna</keyword>, the first Monday collections were equally dismal and stood in the range of Rs 70 lakh, according to Koimoi (Day 5 collections are not available yet). Directed by Sanamjit Singh Talwar, this one was made on an all-inclusive budget of Rs 35 crore and released across 1,500 screens all over India. Interestingly, <keyword id="6358615" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shilpa-Shetty">Shilpa Shetty</keyword> Kundra and <keyword id="217320" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sunil-Lulla">Sunil Lulla</keyword> are the producers here but in spite of the big names all around, the action flick has failed to gain much traction. And not without reasons. The movie could have portrayed the rise of the young aspirant, <keyword id="2179853" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Viki-Kartoos">Viki Kartoos</keyword> (Harman Baweja), to ‘gangsterhood’ with a lot more depth and understanding. Instead, we simply get some stereotype script, some superb action scenes and nothing more. 
 
Finally, there is the Umesh ​B​isht-directed comedy flick O Teri, narrated by <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Salman-Khan">Salman Khan</keyword>. This one, too, has opened across 1,000 screens, but totally fails to impress (weekday numbers are yet to come in). Here are two <keyword id="69943" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="TV-journalists">TV journalists</keyword> – <keyword id="2179878" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Prantabh-Pratab">Prantabh Pratab</keyword> or <keyword id="2179879" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="P-P-">P.P.</keyword> (<keyword id="76825" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pulkit-Samrat">Pulkit Samrat</keyword>) and <keyword id="2179849" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anand-Ishwaram-Devdutt-Subramanium">Anand Ishwaram Devdutt Subramanium</keyword> or <keyword id="19472" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="aids">AIDS</keyword> (<keyword id="946726" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bilal-Amrohi">Bilal Amrohi</keyword>) – trying to unravel a <keyword id="41357" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Scam">scam</keyword> and going through many improbable adventures in the process. In a way, it would remind you of the dark, corrupt world of Youngistaan and Dishkiyaoon, but all three flicks fail to deliver the ruthless reality on paper. And consequently, they fail miserable at the box office.

It was a difficult time of introspection for the tech entrepreneur. Sankar said he experienced serious burnout after Likealittle and decided to leave Silicon Valley. He moved to the Netherlands briefly to recharge and consider what he wanted his next steps to be.But Sankar was still drawn back into the world of startups, pulled in by the exciting prospect of autonomy and high-speed growth. In 2016, together with his cofounder and CEO Parker Conrad, he launched Rippling. The experience taught Sankar firsthand how <keyword id="52204" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="failure">failure</keyword> can be an opportunity to learn and grow as a leader, and Rippling has integrated that lesson into the heart of its <keyword id="6357342" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Hiring">hiring</keyword> <keyword id="6363690" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Strategy">strategy</keyword>. The startup has hired 32 former startup founders and has around 300 employees.The strategy may be paying off. The company received a $1.35 billion valuation last year, a <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/amyfeldman/2020/08/04/rippling-founded-by-fallen-tech-ceo-parker-conrad-passes-1-billion-valuation-with-145-million-fundraise/?sh=347c17a682c4">nearly five-fold increase</a> from its $295 million valuation in April 2019. Insider spoke with Sankar and Neha Sharma, Rippling's head of people, about why failure is so instrumental for effective <keyword id="34454" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="leadership">leadership</keyword>, and how it's fed into the company's rapid growth. <h2>Bouncing back from failed ventures </h2>Sharma is also a failed founder.Sharma's on-demand childcare startup, Ease, met its end when she found demand for her business concept falling out of relevance during the pandemic. Like Sankar, Sharma entered a stage of reflection after the experience, and recommends that anyone experiencing a failed venture takes the time to consider what they're actually passionate about. "Take some time to introspect," Sharma told Insider. "Be very honest to yourself and try to understand what it is that you truly care for." The company's executive leadership view failed founders as the company's secret weapon, because of the drive, leadership, and resilience that they're able to demonstrate through their experience. "It's actually fairly simple to succeed," Prasanna Sankar, cofounder and CTO of Rippling, told Insider. "If you really want to go out and do something original and exciting, the positive aspect of failure is something that you have to accept." <h2>An 'entrepreneurial spirit' </h2>Because of their experiences, they were able to bring a new set of skills to the table. Sharma said that her experience with Ease gave her the ability to make quick decisions and learn on her feet, and that it also taught her resillience. "It takes a lot of courage to start all over again after making bad decisions and then move on," Sharma said. That's why failure shouldn't be a mark of shame, Sharma said, but rather an indicator that someone has the skills and entrepreneurial spirit that it takes to be successful in the future."It's very unfortunate that there's still so much stigma around failing as a founder," Sharma said. "You have to be clear that you are not your startup. The startup failed; you did not." And chances are, employers won't see you as a failure either. In fact, Sharma said, there are plenty of companies who value failed founders for their grit and drive. <h2>Building a recruiting strategy around failed founders</h2>Sankar and Sharma know firsthand that failed founders can make for great leaders. That's why Rippling seeks them out. "[Former founders are] able to adjust with a fast-evolving corporate structure and the skills expected of them that keep changing," Sankar said. And the enthusiasm is mutual, Sankar said: these founders are drawn to Rippling because they're able to gain the autonomy they might lack at another company, coupled with the excitement of a high-growth startup. "As a failed founder myself, that's the best job that you could get," Sankar said, "because the part of being a founder that's really exciting is actually starting something from zero to one and growing it really fast." You might think that bringing such a large number of natural leaders together in one company might cause them to butt heads. But that's not the case, Sharma said; in fact, their collective experiences have made them more receptive to hearing different perspectives. "We have a lot of healthy debate and discussions," Sharma said. "The fact that all of us have been failed founders means we come with strong opinions. But I think when you're in a startup, you kind of learn to be more humble, and to be more open to listening and accepting a counter point of view."

NEW DELHI: In the last nine months, he made millions in India run through an entire gamut of emotions: anger, aversion, pluck, mirth, amazement and much more. In all these speeches, <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> looked like a man in control of his emotions. But on Tuesday, after being elected leader of the <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> parliamentary party — in other words, the PM elect — he choked with emotions. Modi wept.

Before him, his senior L K Advani had wept. In fact, he triggered the emotions in Modi. Years from now those present at Parliament's historic Central Hall on Tuesday, may or may not remember what Modi said. But few, if any, will ever forget the moment when tears welled up in the BJP leader's voice and eyes revealing a carefully concealed softer side. 
 
Responding to Advani's speech where he had said that Modi had done the party a kripa (favour), he said, "Advaniji ne ek shabd kahaa. Main Advanji se prarthna karoonga ki woh iss shabd ka istmaal na kare. Unhone kaha ki Narendra bhai ne kirpa ki (Advaniji said that I have done a favour to BJP. I will request him not to use this term)." 
 
 
 
At this juncture, the BJP leader broke down. He paused to sip water and took a moment to gather himself before continuing. 
 
"Kya ma ki seva kabhi kirpa ho sakti hai? Katai nahin ho sakti hai. Jaise Bharat meri ma hai waise hi BJP bhi meri ma hai. Aur isliyee beta kabhi ma par kirpa nahin karta, sirf samarpit bhav se ma ki sewa karta hai (Can a son do any favour by serving the mother? Not at all. Like India, BJP is also my mother. A son never does any favour. He only serves his mother in a dedicated manner)," he said. 
 
 
 
Like a gifted artist who makes the audience sway with the emotion, Modi appeared to be making others emotional. Some like Ravi Shankar Prasad were tearful. 
 
It was evident right from the very beginning that it was day of emotional drama. While entering the Parliament building, Modi knelt and placed his forehead on the green carpeted steps like a devotee before a temple. "This is the temple of democracy," he said later. 
 At the start his speech, Modi was overcome up with feelings while talking about former BJP <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">Prime Minister</keyword> <keyword id="47100" type="PERSON" weightage="40" keywordseo="Atal-Bihari-Vajpayee">Atal Bihari Vajpayee</keyword>, who is unwell. "Had Vajpayeeji been well, his presence would have been 'sone par suhaga' (icing on the cake)." 
 
Throughout the speech, Modi underlined the power of the pause during speech. Emotions aside, he not only displayed his command over the Hindi language but also spoke like a man in total control and command of everything he surveys.
