The Directorate General of Health Services (<keyword id="6430867" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="dghs" source="Orion">DGHS</keyword>) has informed the <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> that four rounds of online counselling for <keyword id="11196228" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NEET-PG-2021" source="Orion">NEET-PG 2021</keyword> have been already conducted and 1,456 medical seats have remained vacant, as the software stands closed. The DGHS said since the software is closed, further rounds of counselling could not be conducted to fill up the medical seats. The DGHS in an affidavit, submitted the software, which was used for online counselling of NEET-PG 2021, is closed and refund of security deposit for participating in PG counselling has been initiated. It also added that the petitioner has made the plea at a belated stage and it may impact the whole process for upcoming counselling session for <keyword id="12826212" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NEET-PG-2022" source="Orion">NEET-PG 2022</keyword>, and it is also difficult to run concurrently counselling for two academic sessions. A vacation bench comprising Justices M.R. Shah and Aniruddha Bose on Wednesday sought response from the Central government on petitions seeking a special stray round of counselling for the 1,456 vacant seats. The DGHS said it has acted in a bonafide manner and complied with the direction of the apex court in full letter and spirit, and no further rounds apart from four online rounds of counselling could be conducted. It added that NEET-PG 2021 counselling was delayed due to third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The DGHS said as per the direction of the top court it conducted four rounds of online counselling for the PG course and the last date of admissions for the PG course was May 7. These rounds of counselling also included an additional online special round for 146 seats, following March 31 order of the apex court, it added. The Supreme Court is scheduled to take up the matter on Thursday. The Supreme Court on Wednesday slammed the <keyword id="1873824" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="medical-counselling-committee" source="Orion">Medical Counselling Committee</keyword> (MCC) on the 1,456 vacant medical seats in NEET PG-2021, saying if students are not given admission, then it will pass orders and also grant them compensation. The vacation bench told the MCC Counsel, "Even if a single course has remained vacant.....It's your duty to see that they don't remain vacant." The bench got angry to see that 1,456 seats have remained vacant in medical colleges during the 2021-22 session. It said the MCC and the Central government are playing with the life of students by not conducting a mop up round of counselling for students. "You're playing with the future of students....," said the bench, adding that in May, the authorities learnt that seats were vacant, why didn't they conduct a mop up round? The MCC Counsel submitted that orders in the matter would lead to cascading effect and requested the court to allow him to place an affidavit on record to explain the matter. The top court allowed the Central government to file a response in the matter. NEET-PG 2021: DGHS tells SC no further rounds of counselling can be conducted, software closed

The Centre assured the <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> on Monday that the counselling process of NEET-PG will not commence till the top court decides the challenge to 27 per cent reservation for <keyword id="45661" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="OBC" source="Orion">OBC</keyword> and 10 per cent for <keyword id="11939755" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ews" source="Orion">EWS</keyword> category in PG All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS and MD/MS/MDS) from the current academic session. A bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and B V Nagarathna recorded the assurance given by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) K M Nataraj, appearing for the Centre, and observed that students will be in serious problem if the counselling process goes ahead as scheduled. The assurance by Nataraj was given after senior advocate Arvind Dattar, appearing for some NEET candidates, mentioned that as per the schedule announced by the Director General of Health Services, the counselling process for the NEET-PG is to commence from October 25. He said that by the time the court decides the pending batch of petitions, challenging the July 29 notification, introducing the reservation from academic year, the entire process of admission will be over and serious prejudice would be caused to the students. Nataraj said the communication which counsel for petitioner is referring to was sent only to the medical colleges for verification of seats and one more clarificatory notification has been issued on Monday. The counselling process will not begin till the court decides the pending batch of petitions, the ASG submitted. The bench said that it is taking the word on record. We will take your word on record that counselling process will not start till we decide the batch of petitions one way or the other. You know, students will be in serious problem, if the process continues, the bench said. Nataraj agreed with the observation of the court and said that if there is any problem at all in the future, the petitioner's counsel can contact him directly. On October 21, the top court had asked the Centre whether it would like to revisit the limit of rupees eight lakh annual income, fixed for determining the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category for reservation in NEET admissions for medical courses. The top court had clarified that it is not embarking into the policy domain but is only trying to ascertain whether constitutional principles have adhered or not. It had asked the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) to file their affidavits in a week's time and had formulated questions to be answered by the Centre. The top court had said, Tell us if you want to revisit the criteria or not. If you want us to discharge our duties, then we are ready to do so. We are formulating questions which you need to answer them . It had added, We may stay the government notification fixing rupees eight lakh criteria for determining the EWS and you can keep filing the affidavits . The top court was hearing a batch of pleas challenging the Centre and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) July 29 notice providing 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) and 10 per cent for EWS category in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) admissions for medical courses. It had asked searching questions from Centre, and asked whether any exercise was undertaken before fixing a limit of Rs 8 lakh annual income for determining the EWS category. It had said the court is not going to tell the government as to what should be the limit whether it should be rupees four lakh or rupees six lakh because it is for the executive to decide but all it wants to know is on what basis Rs. 8 lakh criteria was fixed. For determining creamy layer in Other Backward Classes (OBC) category the limit was fixed as Rs 8 lakh annual income and they were considered progressed class among OBCs and they were excluded from reservation benefits. Here, for the EWS category, the limit is the same Rs 8 lakh annual income but it was for inclusion in the reservation benefits, the top court had said. On October 7, the top court had posed searching questions to the Centre on its decision to fix a limit of rupees eight lakh annual income for determining the EWS category for reservation in NEET admissions. The Centre had then said fixing a limit of Rs eight lakh annual income for the EWS category is a matter of policy based on the National Cost of Living Index. On September 17, the top court has agreed to hear a batch of pleas of students against the July 29 notice providing 27 per cent reservation for OBC and 10 per cent for EWS category in 15 per cent UG and 50 per cent PG All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS and MD/MS/MDS) with effect from the current academic session 2021-22. NEET-PG counselling not to commence till Supreme Court decides on OBC, EWS quota, says Centre

The <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="supreme-court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> on Friday cleared the decks for postgraduate medical counselling and admissions, including the Other Backward Classes (<keyword id="45661" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="obc" source="Orion">OBC</keyword>) and economically weaker sections (<keyword id="11939755" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ews" source="Orion">EWS</keyword>) reservations for the current academic year, 2021-22. A bench headed by <keyword id="3360108" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Justice-D-Y-Chandrachud" source="Orion">Justice D.Y. Chandrachud</keyword> and A.S. Bopanna upheld the constitutional validity of 27 per cent reservation for OBC and 10 per cent EWS for the NEET-UG and NEET-PG. However, the top court added that it would decide on the rationale of criteria of Rs 8 lakh income for EWS category in March this year. On Thursday, after conducting a day-long hearing on petitions challenging the validity of EWS quota in postgraduate medical admissions and the Centre's argument favouring the quota, the court said there is a situation, where in national interest, the counselling has to begin, which was also a key demand of protesting resident doctors. A bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and A.S. Bopanna said: "We are in a situation, where in the national interest the counselling has to begin." Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, argued that all candidates eligible for the EWS quota, as per existing criteria, have got their certificates for registration and added that seats in all the government colleges have been increased to accommodate the EWS quota. "So, this will not harm the chances of general category students...", he added. Mehta also clarified that super-speciality courses have no reservation and none of the judgments remotely suggests that there cannot be reservation in PG courses. On the aspect of the EWS quota, he said there was a study, application of mind, and wide consultation when the government decided to fix the Rs 8 lakh income limit. The Centre has accepted the report of a three-member panel constituted to revisit the EWS criteria. The panel, in its report, said: "Firstly, the EWS's criteria relates to the financial year prior to the year of application whereas the income criterion for the creamy layer in OBC category is applicable to gross annual income for three consecutive years." The panel added: "Secondly, in case of deciding the OBC creamy layer, income from salaries, agriculture, and traditional artisanal professions are excluded from the consideration whereas the Rs 8 lakh criteria for EWS includes that from all sources, including farming. So, despite being the same cut-off number, their composition is different and hence, the two cannot be equated." After hearing the parties in the matter, the top court reserved its judgment on the petitions challenging the 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10 per cent reservation for EWS in all-India quota seats for postgraduate medical courses. As many as 15 per cent seats in MBBS and 50 per cent seats in MS and MD courses are filled through all-India Quota from the candidates selected through the NEET. NEET-PG admissions: Supreme Court allows counselling with 27% OBC and 10% EWS quota

The agitating resident doctors on Friday called off their 14-day long nationwide agitation over the delay in NEET-PG counselling and alleged manhandling of doctors by the police. The doctors will resume work from 12 p.m. The strike was called after a meeting between the members of the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) and Joint Commissioner of <keyword id="6358992" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="delhi-police" source="Orion">Delhi Police</keyword>. "Last evening we met the Joint CP of <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword>. The Delhi Police have initiated the process of quashing the FIR," said Dr Manish Nigam, president of FORDA. Joint CP has sent a video message to rebuild the trust between the doctors and the police, he said. In a statement, FORDRA said that a series of meetings of FORDA Representatives was held with multiple Delhi Police officials. It was highlighted by the Delhi Police that they have the highest regard for doctors. They are well aware of the hardships of Doctors and as earlier, they are willing to cooperate with the <keyword id="42518" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medical" source="Orion">Medical</keyword> fraternity for any issue at any time. "A virtual meeting of FORDA with all RDA Representatives was convened late in the evening whereby all the proceedings were conveyed and all concerning points were discussed in detail. It was unanimously decided to call off the agitation on 31st December, 2021, 12.00 p.m., considering various factors including patient care," said FORDRA. However, the doctors association has said that a national meeting with all the RDA representatives will be convened by FORDA on January 6. As the health ministry is supposed to submit the Committee Report to the <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="supreme-court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> before January 6, 2022 and will publish the NEET-PG 2021 Counselling schedule following the Court hearing, the association said. Delhi resident doctors call off their 14-day long nationwide strike over NEET-PG counselling

The <keyword id="83655" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="union-health-ministry" source="Orion">Union Health Ministry</keyword> has asked the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to postpone NEET PG 2022 by six to eight weeks since it clashes with the NEET PG 2021 counselling. On January 25, six <keyword id="48426" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MBBS" source="Orion">MBBS</keyword> graduates had filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) scheduled on March 12 for admissions in postgraduate medical courses, claiming that many MBBS graduates would not be able to take up the examination due to non-completion of the mandatory internship period. Dr B Srinivas, Assistant Director General (Medical Education) and Member Secretary of the <keyword id="1873824" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="medical-counselling-committee" source="Orion">Medical Counselling Committee</keyword>, in a communication sent to Dr M Bajpai, executive director of NBE, said that a lot of representations were being received from medical doctors requesting to postpone the NEET-PG 2022 examination as it was clashing with the NEET PG 2021 counselling. Also, many of the interns would not be able to participate in the PG counselling 2022 in May-June, Srinivas said. "Keeping the above facts in view, the HFM (ministry of health and family welfare) has taken the decision to postpone NEET PG 2022 by 6-8 weeks or suitably. Hence, the decision made by HFM may be complied with," the communication sent on February 3 stated. Health Ministry postpones NEET Postgraduate exam 2022 by 6-8 weeks

The Centre on Tuesday again urged the <keyword id="6354977" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="supreme-court" source="Orion">Supreme Court</keyword> to urgently hear the matter connected with the validity of <keyword id="11939755" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ews" source="Orion">EWS</keyword> quota in postgraduate courses in medical colleges. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, after failing to get the matter listed on Tuesday, requested a bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana to list the matter for hearing. Mehta emphasized that the matter needs to be considered on priority since resident doctors are protesting. The Chief Justice told Mehta that he has to constitute a special bench. Justice Ramana said: "Let me see tomorrow. This entire week is a miscellaneous week..." Mehta said the resident doctors are protesting and their concerns are genuine. The bench said: "If it is a three-judge bench matter, then it will be listed before a three-judge bench tomorrow". On Monday, Mehta asked a bench led by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud to advance the hearing on the matter to Tuesday from January 6. The Centre has told the top court that Rs 8 lakh income criterion for determining the EWS is much more stringent than the one for the OBC creamy layer. The Centre has accepted the report of a three-member panel constituted to revisit the EWS criteria. On November 25, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that it has taken a decision to revisit the criteria of Rs 8 lakh annual income limit for EWS criteria and added that a fresh decision will be taken within a period of 4 weeks. On October 21, the Supreme Court had questioned the Centre over adopting the criteria of OBC creamy layer of Rs 8 lakh annual income for granting reservations under the economic weaker section (EWS), despite the latter not suffering from social and educational backwardness. The top court told the Centre's counsel "You just cannot pull out eight lakh from thin air. You are making unequal equal by applying the Rs eight lakh limit". In an affidavit, the Centre had told the Supreme Court that its decision to fix Rs 8 Lakh income limit for OBC and economically weaker section (EWS) is not arbitrary in the <keyword id="6361994" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="neet" source="Orion">NEET</keyword> All India Quota, and it was finalised after considering diverse economic factors in different states. Supreme Court agrees to hear Centre's plea on EWS quota for NEET-PG admissions

The Supreme Court Thursday refused to entertain pleas of various political parties challenging the Centre's decision not to grant 50 per cent reservation to OBCs as per Tamil Nadu law in <keyword id="6386019" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="medical-seats">medical seats</keyword> surrendered by the state in the all India quota for under graduate, post graduate and dental courses in 2020-21, saying "the right to reservation is not a fundamental right". The top court asked the political parties, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), CPI (M), Vaiko, Anubmani <keyword id="42761" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ramadoss">Ramadoss</keyword>, <keyword id="458412" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tamil-Nadu-Congress-Committee">Tamil Nadu Congress Committee</keyword> and CPI, to approach the Madras High Court with their pleas for grant of <keyword id="45661" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="OBC">OBC</keyword> quota in medical admissions. "The senior counsel for the petitioners seek permission to withdraw these <keyword id="1700892" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="writ-petitions">Writ Petitions</keyword> with liberty to approach the High Court by filing Writ Petitions under Article 226 of the Constitution. Permission granted. "The Writ Petitions are, accordingly, dismissed as withdrawn with the aforesaid liberty," a bench of justices L Nageswara Rao, Krishna Murari and S Ravindra Bhat said in its order. The bench said during the hearing that a plea under Article 32 (filing of Writ petition in SC) of the Constitution can be filed only in case of violation of fundamental rights and no such rights of political parties have been violated. "Right to reservation is not a fundamental right," the court said. The counsel for political parties said they were not seeking any addition in existing quota and were alleging that the OBC reservation policy was not being implemented. "You should withdraw this and go to the Madras High Court," the bench said, adding that the liberty was granted to the political parties to do that. The political parties have challenged the Centre's decision not to grant 50 per cent reservation to OBCs in medical seats surrendered by Tamil Nadu in the all India quota for under graduate, post graduate and dental courses in current academic session. DMK had said in its plea that it was opposing the denial of implementation of 50 per cent OBC policy of the state, other than in central government institutions. It said the Medical Council of India (MCI) regulations clearly contemplate adherence to state reservation laws while filling up of the seats. The party said that the All India Quota seats are contributed by states surrendering seats in the government and private medical and dental colleges as per the MCI regulations. DMK had sought ad-interim injunction restraining the Respondents from proceeding further with All India Counselling for PG seats pursuant to the NEET-PG 2020 results without following the 50 per cent reservation for OBC quota in Tamil Nadu pending disposal of the plea. The party also sought direction for calling of the records of the Respondent pertaining to the Result of NEET-PG, 2020 published on May 9, 2020 by the National Board of Examinations relating to the filling up of the All India Quota and quashing of the same. "The Petitioner (CPIM) is constrained to approach this court as the Respondents (Centre, MCI and others) herein have grossly failed to provide the statutory reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBC) i.e. Backward Classes (BC) and Most Backward Classes (MBC) and anomaly in granting reservation to SC-STs students in admissions to the Under graduate and Post Graduate medical courses in all medical colleges in Tamil Nadu in the category of 'state surrendered seats to the All India Quota' in Government and private medical colleges other than the Central Government institutions," the plea of CPI(M) had said. Ruling AIADMK had alleged that there was no rational basis for not extending the benefit of 50 per cent reservation for OBCs, as envisaged under the State laws of Tamil Nadu, to the State-captured seats in the All India Quota. The AIADMK party said that in all past academic years since the inception of the All India Quota system, OBCs have been grossly under represented in the All-India-Quota seats in undergraduate, diploma, PG diploma and postgraduate medical colleges across the country. Supreme Court refuses to hear pleas to implement OBC quota in Tamil Nadu's share of All India medical seats

India is committed to supplying <keyword id="8763838" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19" source="Orion">COVID-19</keyword> vaccines to other nations and such supplies are likely to begin by the end of this year, as the abundant production will not just meet domestic needs but also generate surplus for exports. a top government official said on Monday. The official, however, added that the supply of vaccines to other nations will have to be balanced against the country's vaccination program. "India's commitment to provide vaccines to other nations stands. It has been reiterated by the Indian leadership... However, major supplies to other nations will have to be balanced against India's own needs of vaccines for the country's vaccination program," the official told PTI on condition of anonymity. India, the world's largest <keyword id="12383551" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="producer-of-vaccines" source="Orion">producer of vaccines</keyword> overall, had suspended exports of COVID-19 vaccines in April to focus on inoculating its own population following a sudden spike in infections. "We do foresee that there will be spare supplies, and in fact going into late 2021 and beyond, there will be generous vaccine supplies, which would then become available for exports, so the situation is being watched carefully, it is a dynamic situation," he said. According to the official, currently the priority is to cover the eligible population of India effectively and in the shortest possible time. "The export needs and commitments are also carefully watched and monitored," he said, adding that going forward, the calibrated approach to exporting vaccines would be taken. The official said: "India would particularly like to fulfil its commitment to <keyword id="9549281" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="COVAX" source="Orion">COVAX</keyword>." COVAX is a worldwide initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines directed by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and the WHO. The Ministry of External Affairs on October 14, had said that coronavirus vaccines have been sent to Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Iran as per the government's decision to resume their supplies. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the government has decided to send the supplies to neighbouring countries initially. India had suspended exports of COVID-19 vaccines in April. Last month, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that India will resume supply of coronavirus vaccines abroad. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi said recently at the UN General Assembly that India will resume supply of coronavirus vaccines. We have decided to start with the neighbourhood," Bagchi had said. On October 21, India achieved a major milestone in its vaccination programme against COVID-19 as the cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 100-crore mark. More than 75 per cent of India's adult population has received at least one dose of the <keyword id="8904563" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="COVID-19-vaccine" source="Orion">COVID-19 vaccine</keyword>, with nine states and union territories administering the first dose to all eligible people. Over 31 per cent of the country's around 93 crore adults have been administered both doses, according to health ministry officials. Three vaccines -- Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India, Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and Sputnik V -- are currently being used in the country's COVID vaccination drive. India to resume exports of COVID-19 vaccine to other nations by the end of this year, says government official

Banking is one of the oldest commercial and trust-based activities that has existed over the centuries. India has had its form of banking for many centuries, as evidenced from our scriptures. Insurance as a sector has been mentioned in the writings of Manu (Manusmrithi), Yajnavalkya (Dharmasastra) and Kautilya (Arthasastra). The writings describe pooling of resources that could be redistributed in times of calamities such as fire, floods, epidemics and famine. Ancient Indian history has also preserved the concept of insurance in the form of marine trade loans and carriers’ contracts. The Indian financial sector has withstood socio-economic shifts, ideological battles, policy upheavals. Gladly, the need for a safer and prudential financing aspect remains staunch. India at present Just in the past 3 decades, we have seen various forms of tech adoption in the Indian finance sector. Currently, the Indian population comprises the millennial and Gen-Z consumers and irrespective of whether they are in urban centres or semi-urban or rural, their daily lives revolve around their smartphones and devices. As the entire <keyword id="6354241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-services" source="Orion">financial services</keyword> industry (including banking, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), digital lenders, insurance, asset and wealth management, pension funds, fintechs) are fast evolving with newer offerings to serve this client-base, equally agile and more proactive should be the <keyword id="34505" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-regulators" source="Orion">financial regulators</keyword>. What could be the year ahead? <ol><li>Financial regulators would push for a stronger balance sheet of entities they oversee. This could mean increased regulatory oversight of weaker entities, increased stress-test dash boarding, nudged mergers and acquisitions (M&amp;A) activities, and need for finance players to raise additional capital. </li><li>Consumer protection is crucial. But the ability to balance that principle, with the speed of digital innovation will need much faster adoption, by financial regulators, of their own digital capabilities and tools. Also, in instances where consumer greed is the issue, blaming the industry players could be avoided. </li><li>Financial regulators will bring in ideas for product communication to be simple. This can reduce the heartburn that comes with financiers showing off their complicated jargons and obscure and repetitive paperwork. </li><li>All the financial regulators using an Unified Data format (say to a standard like XBRL) can enable faster and preventive understanding of systemic issues. If they can trust that the data has not been compromised with, in the journey from transactional system to reporting, they can focus on the data itself, for speedier decisions. </li><li>Regulators have always had to get used to the newer waves of technology shift and to fine-tune their regulations in sync with market mechanisms. Some of our financial regulators are far ahead in understanding digital finance, than their peers. Hopefully, the rest will also catch up the learning curve quickly. </li><li>Our financial services regime is licence-based. Reassessing each of these licences from utility, impact and consumer need perspective this can bury some of the legacy baggage that we carry meaninglessly. </li><li>Lateral hires of private sector talent into regulatory policy development, policy operations and regulatory supervision space could be a new addition to bring in additional knowledge, and increased market engagement. </li><li>Regulators will get tougher on any infringements. After all, financial business is all about consumer trust. </li><li>Cyber and digital related safety aspects will take importance in the regulatory agenda. </li><li>Increased sandbox models, especially around cashless transactions and digital finance will accelerate the need for shaping regulatory narratives. </li><li>Gear up for TechFin as global giants are increasing their hold on the technologies, consumer engagement in the space of payments, lending, banking and insurance. </li><li>Prepare regulations for Web 3.0. That would necessitate financial regulators to build a framework on what it could mean for ‘future of finance’. </li><li>With Indian economic growth, and the importance of it being a large consumer market and investment destination, our regulators will have a say in the global financial arena. In this aspect, hopefully we might see a protectionist effect for domestic players. </li><li>For investors as well as the finance entities, issues around environmental, social and governance (ESG) are having higher attention. The finance regulators will bring detailed scrutiny in this space, as India moves towards its own net zero goals in tune with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDG).</li></ol>The author is a CEO coach and corporate advisor.
