People buy food on impulse, purchase items which are near expiry dates, cook more than what they can eat or buy food that never gets eaten,” he explains. So the next time you have more food on the table than you can eat, store it for the next meal or better still, share it with someone who is hungry. That’s the time when the party begins. 
 
Loaded with gifts? Re-gift more, others may have greater needs. Don’t be a <keyword id="1986802" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Christmas-hoarder">Christmas hoarder</keyword>. You may have received loads of gifts, but do you need all of them? Chances are you already have them or you really don’t have much use for them. In such a case, it is always best to talk to the person who has brought in the gift and find a way to re-gift it to someone who really needs it. A friend once received a number of stylish travel bags (they were the rage of that season) and decided to give them all to a kids’ home nearby who found it handy and useful. A couple of days before the Christmas, a distress call from some long-distance friends told us how people were coping without <keyword id="44578" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="electricity">electricity</keyword> while the mercury had dipped below zero. Take note of that as energy is a precious gift, needed to sustain Life on earth. There are plenty of ways to save on energy (and your electricity bill, which means more savings and more doings this Christmas). Use power-savers as much as possible – stunning <keyword id="71300" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="LED-lights">LED lights</keyword> instead of conventional lamps speak volumes about your taste and awareness. Turn off <keyword id="1976411" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="holiday-lights">holiday lights</keyword> when they are not in use; use strings of other decorative items, instead of lights, and keep a tab on your gadget use this Christmas. 
 The other material we tend to use most is paper – right from <keyword id="636065" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Greeting-cards">greeting cards</keyword> to <keyword id="1986816" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Paper-boxes">paper boxes</keyword> to <keyword id="1592216" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Wrapping-Paper">wrapping paper</keyword>. Last year, an estimated 227,000 miles of wrapping paper was wasted in the UK alone (India data not available yet). But a start-up there seems to have the answer to the problem of paper waste at Christmas time, according to media reports. The UK company says its biodegradable wrapping paper implanted with vegetable seeds (it is called seed paper) is an environmentally responsible alternative that continues to give even when Christmas is over. Well, unless that is available here in India, let us try and use <keyword id="1986817" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Recycled-wrapping-paper">recycled wrapping paper</keyword> and re-usable containers/boxes as much as possible. Send <keyword id="1986820" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Electronic-greeting-cards">electronic greeting cards</keyword> instead of paper ones and preserve the <keyword id="1986821" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gift-wraps">gift wraps</keyword> for next year’s use, if you can. 
 
Do a little something extra for someone – <keyword id="1986787" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Spread-the-cheer">spread the cheer</keyword>. Make or get a special gift for someone who doesn’t belong to your social or professional circle. In other words, do something special, to make it a special day. Every Christmas, a colleague visits a specialty hospital for the aged and makes a generous donation for those requiring critical care. Asked what induced her to do so, she recalled the time when she badly needed the money to start a specific treatment and a stranger donated it to help her. Giving back what we get from others is not only a social responsibility; it is also one of the core values this season teaches us. Christopher Dorner, who allegedly killed two civilians and a cop, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/christopher-dorner-possibly-found-2013-2">is presumed dead</a> after a fire ravaged the mountain cabin where he was hiding from police. 
Dorner was likely suffering from a "<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/court-file-la-ex-cop-disturbed-self-obsessed-233440436.html">classic case of malignant narcissistic personality disorder</a>," retired FBI profiler Mary Ellen O'Toole told The Associated Press, pointing to his grandiose belief that he could evade all the police chasing him down.
In Michael Maccoby's book "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Productive-Narcissist-Promise-Visionary-Leadership/dp/0767910230">The Productive Narcissist: The Promise and Peril of Visionary Leadership</a>," he says that many leaders have some element of narcissism. 
However, the productive ones have learned to retain an element of their egos, while moderating the negative side effects of narcissism. 
Lawyers may also share those narcissistic traits. 
The over-the-top workaholic tendencies that make lawyers so great at their jobs means they may also be perfectionists, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/scientifically-proven-lawyer--workaholic--narccisist-2010-3">which is a narcissistic trait</a>.

The 33-year-old allegedly shot two innocent civilians before <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/christopher-dorners-manifesto-2013-2">proclaiming on Facebook</a> that he was declaring war on his former employer, the LAPD.
Now that he's presumably dead, we're left to wonder precisely what was wrong with the former cop who went rogue and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/christopher-dorner-1-million-reward-2013-2">sparked the biggest manhunt in recent memory.</a>
Two former FBI profilers have looked at Dorner's manifesto and come up with a diagnosis: narcissism.
Dorner had a "<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/court-file-la-ex-cop-disturbed-self-obsessed-233440436.html">classic case of malignant narcissistic personality disorder</a>," retired FBI profiler Mary Ellen O'Toole told the AP.
Malignant narcissists often have exaggerated ideas of how awesome they are along with a thin skin, O'Toole told the AP.
Dorner's manifesto has a laundry lists of perceived slights against him that start in elementary school and end with his termination from the LAPD in 2008.
"What throws him in the special realm of dangerous personalities is the fact <a href="http://www.myfoxla.com/story/21085769/ex-fbi-agent-chris-donner-is-a">that he's a wound collector</a>," former FBI agent Joe Novarro told MyFoxLA. "He sees social slights, indifference, human imperfections, diversity and catalogs them and nourishes these wounds ... so that he could justify these actions."
Novarro says Dorner's belief in his own infallibility makes him resemble Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, a Harvard-trained mathematician with a reputation for being an <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/1999/03/14/us/new-portrait-unabomber-environmental-saboteur-around-montana-village-for-20.html">"evil genius</a>."
It was Dorner's sense of grandiosity that made him think he could escape all of the police chasing him down, O'Toole told the AP. To be sure, he had training from the LAPD and the military.
"But is he capable of taking on some 1,000 officers looking for him?" O'Toole said. "That's someone with a personality disorder."
