Shares of <keyword id="19950203" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="TCS" source="keywords">TCS</keyword> on Friday climbed over 3 per cent after the country's largest <keyword id="20069374" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IT-services" source="keywords">IT services</keyword> player reported 8.7 per cent growth in the June quarter net profit at Rs 12,040 crore. The stock went up by 3.10 per cent to Rs 4,044.35 on the BSE. At the NSE, it rallied 3 per cent to Rs 4,044.90. The company's <keyword id="20097096" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="market-valuation" source="keywords">market valuation</keyword> jumped Rs 40,359.77 crore to Rs 14,59,626.96 crore in morning deals. The stock emerged as the biggest gainer among the Sensex pack. "The positive domestic cue is the better-than-expected numbers from TCS and positive management commentary which can lift most IT stocks," said V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services. In the equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 226.11 points to 80,123.45 in early trade. The <keyword id="19950205" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nse-nifty" source="keywords">NSE Nifty</keyword> went up by 82.1 points to 24,398.05. <keyword id="19950119" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tata-Consultancy-Services" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Tata Consultancy Services" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Tata Consultancy Services">Tata Consultancy Services</keyword> (TCS) on Thursday posted an 8.7 per cent year-on-year rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 12,040 crore for the first quarter ended June 2024. Net profit for the year-ago period stood at Rs 11,074 crore. The company - which competes in the IT services market with the likes of Infosys, Wipro and HCLTech - reported 5.4 per cent increase in revenue at Rs 62,613 crore for the quarter just ended. "I am pleased to report a strong start to the new fiscal year with all-round growth across industries and markets," K Krithivasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TCS, said in a release. TCS has declared an interim dividend of Rs 10 per equity share of Re 1 each. Meanwhile, other IT stocks -- Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Wipro -- were also in demand.

"I am going to handover a letter to the Finance Minister this evening stating that an additional 10% GST be put on diesel-powered vehicles," Gadkari said. In the passenger vehicle segment, various carmakers including Maruti Suzuki India and Honda have already stopped manufacturing diesel cars. Gadkari said the contribution of diesel cars has already come down drastically in the country and the manufacturers need to stop selling them in the market. Terming diesel as a hazardous fuel, he noted that the country has to import the fuel to meet the demand. "Say goodbye to diesel... Please stop making them, otherwise we will just increase the tax so much that it would become difficult to sell diesel cars" Gadkari said. He said he will propose additional GST on diesel-powered generators as well. Automobiles are currently taxed at 28% GST, with additional cess ranging from 1% to 22% depending on the type of vehicle. SUVs attract the highest GST at the rate of 28% along with a compensation cess at 22%. Gadkari also asked the industry to focus on environment-friendly alternative fuels like ethanol. The Mahindra Group company posted a net profit of Rs 493.9 crore in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing. Revenue rose by 3.49 per cent to Rs 13,313.2 crore in the second quarter of 2024-25 compared to Rs 12,863.9 crore in the same quarter of 2023-24. "Other income includes gain on sale of property of Rs 4,502 million which comprises of freehold land and its related buildings along with the furniture &amp; fixtures sold for a consideration of Rs 5,350 million, receivable over a period of four years along with interest of 8.2 per cent p.a," the company filing said. Sequentially, net profit rose by 46.81 per cent and revenue by 2.36 per cent. "We continue to progress on our strategic improvement efforts even as the overall IT services industry has remained soft. "We have focused on strengthening client relationships and expanding the partner ecosystem while maintaining a sharp focus on operational excellence through project Fortius, which has resulted in an expansion of margins for the third sequential quarter," Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi said. The CEO unveiled Project Fortius in April, a three-year plan to achieve a 15 per cent operating margin with a focus on organic growth. "This quarter we see consistent performance around increasing deal wins, <keyword id="19965932" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue-growth" source="keywords">revenue growth</keyword>, cost optimisation and steady free cash flow generation as we continue our journey towards FY27 stated targets. In line with our capital allocation policy the board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 15 per share," Tech Mahindra CFO Rohit Anand said. The company's TCV (<keyword id="23580531" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Total-Contract-Value" source="keywords">Total Contract Value</keyword>), or net new deal wins, stood at USD 603 million in the second quarter of FY25. Tech Mahindra profit jumps over 2-times to ₹1,250 crore in Jul-Sep quarter

<keyword id="9301251" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Global-development-institution" source="Orion">Global development institution</keyword> IFC will invest Rs 600 crore in a new last-mile mobility (LMM) company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of <keyword id="6357096" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra-Mahindra" source="Orion">Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</keyword> that will be newly incorporated (NewCo), it announced on Wednesday. IFC's first investment in an EV manufacturer in the country, and the first in electric three-wheelers globally, will be in the form of compulsory convertible instruments at a valuation of up to Rs 6,020 crore. The Rs 600 crore investment will result in an ownership of between 9.97 per cent to 13.64 per cent for IFC in NewCo. NewCo will house the last mile mobility division, including three wheelers (Alfa, Treo, Zor) and four-wheeler SCV (Jeeto). "With the electrification of the last mile mobility business at scale, we will move a step further in our commitment to be aPlanet Positive' by 2040. This also presents a tremendous opportunity for growth for micro and women entrepreneurs," said Anish Shah, MD and CEO, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra. India has committed to reducing its emissions profile by 45 per cent by 2030, and simultaneously aims to achieve 80 per cent EV penetration for two-and three-wheelers, 70 per cent for commercial vehicles and 30 per cent for private cars in the same time-frame. "India is the largest three-wheeler market globally, and this investment marks a significant step towards scaled domestic production of electric vehicles catering to this segment, as well as small commercial vehicles," said Hector Gomez Ang, IFC's Regional Director for South Asia. According to Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (auto and farm sector), Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, being the market leaders in this segment: "We have an opportunity to drive higher EV penetration in this segment and provide a more sustainable as well as profitable option to microentrepreneurs".
