The Rs 10,900 crore scheme will support 2,479,000 electric 2-wheelers, 316,000 electric 3-wheelers and 14,028 electric buses, along with 88,500 <keyword id="186291" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ev" source="Orion">EV</keyword> charging sites. Shailesh Chandra, President of <keyword id="108827" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="siam" source="Orion">SIAM</keyword> and Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd &amp; Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, expressed strong support for the government's forward-thinking initiative. The Union Cabinet, on Wednesday, cleared the 'PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM e-DRIVE) Scheme,' with a total outlay of Rs 10,900 crore over two years. It includes Rs 3,679 crore in subsidies and demand incentives for e-2Ws, e-3Ws, e-ambulances, e-trucks, and other emerging electric vehicles. It is expected to support the deployment of 24.79 lakh e-2Ws, 3.16 lakh e-3Ws, and 14,028 e-buses, providing a significant push to India's EV ecosystem. A critical aspect of the scheme is the introduction of e-vouchers for EV buyers. At the time of purchase, an Aadhaar-authenticated e-voucher will be generated, which will enable buyers to avail of demand incentives. Additionally, the scheme allocates Rs 500 crore for the deployment of e-ambulances, marking a new initiative to integrate electric vehicles into essential public services. Another Rs 4,391 crore has been earmarked for the procurement of 14,028 e-buses, with a demand aggregation process led by CESL in nine major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Intercity and interstate e-buses will also be supported in consultation with states. Furthermore, Rs 500 crore has been set aside to incentivize the adoption of e-trucks, a critical move given that trucks are one of the largest contributors to air pollution. The scheme encourages those with a scrapping certificate from <keyword id="19897457" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-road-transport" source="keywords">Ministry of Road Transport</keyword> and Highways-approved (MoRTH) vehicle scrapping centres to participate in this transition. With an allocation of Rs 2,000 crore, the scheme will support the installation of 22,100 fast chargers for four-wheelers, 1,800 fast chargers for e-buses, and 48,400 fast chargers for two- and three-wheelers. These chargers will be installed in cities with high EV penetration and along selected highways, making long-distance EV travel more viable.

Automobile industry hails PM e-DRIVE scheme to promote EVs

The <keyword id="19905108" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-defence" source="keywords">Ministry of Defence</keyword> has sanctioned over Rs 300 crore through its <keyword id="20416767" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="technology-development-fund" source="keywords">Technology Development Fund</keyword> (TDF) to create an ecosystem aimed at enhancing capabilities in cutting-edge technology and promoting '<keyword id="20460685" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aatmanirbharta" source="keywords">Aatmanirbharta</keyword>' in defence, an official statement said on Thursday. The Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Defence, executed by <keyword id="19948662" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="drdo" source="keywords">DRDO</keyword> under the '<keyword id="20018809" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="make-in-india" source="keywords">Make in India</keyword>' initiative. Under this initiative, the government provides grants-in-aid to Indian industries, including <keyword id="19910977" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="msmes" source="keywords">MSMEs</keyword> and <keyword id="19945815" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="startups" source="keywords">startups</keyword>, as well as academic and scientific institutions, for the development of defence and dual-use technologies that are currently not available in the Indian defence industry. With these initiatives, the Ministry aims to engage private industries, especially MSMEs and startups, to foster a culture of design and development in military technology and support them with grants-in-aid. The TDF seeks to enhance the capacity and capability of Indian industries for the design and development of defence technologies in the country. It aims to create an R&amp;D ecosystem where industry and academia work together to meet the current and future requirements of the Armed Forces and the defence sector. The government aims to achieve 'Aatmanirbharta' in defence technology by building a robust defence manufacturing ecosystem in the country. The <keyword id="19910956" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="defence-ministry" source="keywords">Defence Ministry</keyword> on Wednesday highlighted several successful startups benefiting from the scheme. Pune-based startup <keyword id="22281521" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Combat-Robotics" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Combat Robotics" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Combat Robotics">Combat Robotics</keyword>, with the help of the scheme, has successfully developed an innovative simulator for <keyword id="20146841" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="unmanned-vehicles" source="keywords">unmanned vehicles</keyword>. This multi-domain simulator supports unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), serving as an excellent development tool for agencies working on autonomous systems. Another Pune-based defence equipment startup, ChiStats Labs Private Limited, is developing virtual sensors for aero gas turbine engine health monitoring, which helps to increase the operational reliability and longevity of the engines. The system is built on modern artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) technologies. Bengaluru-based NewSpace Research and Technologies Pvt. Ltd., under the project titled 'Autonomous Drone as First Responder for Search and Report Operations in Enclosed/Indoor Environments', has created a cutting-edge UAV capable of exploring indoor environments under various conditions, including zero light. The success of this project will open up various applications, including search and rescue operations, surveillance, industrial inspections, environmental monitoring, and hazardous environment exploration, contributing significantly to technological advancements in unmanned aerial systems, the Ministry added. The technology has been developed under the technical guidance and mentorship of CAIR, Bengaluru.

Defence ministry allocates Rs 300 cr for technology development fund to promote Make in India products

<keyword id="20961985" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vehicle-safety" source="keywords">Vehicle safety</keyword> group <keyword id="20581264" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Global-NCAP" source="keywords">Global NCAP</keyword> on Tuesday said it has given one star safety rating to <keyword id="19967472" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahindra" source="keywords">Mahindra</keyword> <keyword id="21402082" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bolero-Neo" source="keywords">Bolero Neo</keyword> for adult and child occupant safety. The UK-based group also accorded two stars to <keyword id="21402083" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Honda-Amaze" source="keywords">Honda Amaze</keyword> for adult and zero stars for child occupant safety. It also gave three stars in adult safety and five stars for child occupants to <keyword id="20774736" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kia-Carens" source="keywords">Kia Carens</keyword> after the latest round of crash tests. The highest score on a vehicle crash test is five stars, while the lowest score is zero stars. "We were disappointed to see Mahindra's one star rating for the Bolero Neo. This falls well below the safety performance we have come to expect from the manufacturer," Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas said in a statement. Mahindra &amp; Mahindra said the company is committed to deliver vehicles that ensure the safety and satisfaction of customers and users. Bolero Neo has always complied with safety regulations that have been introduced over time and continues to be fully compliant with the latest Indian safety standards, it said. "As we are constantly innovating and improving our vehicles to exceed safety regulations, we want to assure our customers and stakeholders that Mahindra has significantly enhanced safety features in all our recent launches," the auto major stated. Models like Thar, XUV700, XUV300, and Scorpio-N have been recognised with high safety ratings of 4- and 5-star by the Global NCAP, reflecting the company's ongoing commitment to safety. Furas said there has been an improvement in Kia's rating for the Carens since its original test when the model scored a zero rating for adult occupant protection. "However, we were expecting a better performance in the retest given the Carens is fitted with six airbags as standard," he added. On Honda Amaze, Furas stated: "Regrettably Honda did not take the opportunity to update the Amaze with more safety features which explains its disappointing score." Commenting on the development, Honda Cars India said the South Africa spec second generation Amaze has already been tested as four star by GNCAP in 2019. "The latest test basis new protocol shows that the total score is of five-star level. "However, mainly due to the requirement of certain equipment like electronic stability control and side curtain airbags, it resulted in lower rating," the automaker said in a statement. Global NCAP accords low safety rating to Bolero Neo, Amaze

Tata Power deploys EV charging points on key routes to Ayodhya

"People love trucks," he added. "They love to tow things and powerful cars. We're pretty sure that the electric trucks are going to be very popular in our market. We know there's going to be a need for EV chargers in every community in the heartland."<h2>Private companies are banking on federal funds to bring chargers to rural areas</h2>Jankowsky said his company, which was founded in 2015, set out to prove that EV chargers were necessary in the middle of America, outside major metros that have a higher concentration of EV drivers.The company has built about 550 fast-charging ports, or superchargers, in large and small communities in Oklahoma. The ports can charge vehicles in 15 to 45 minutes.Over the past year, Francis Energy's network has seen a 500% increase in usage, which Jankowsky said is a function of more EVs on the road in that market, which he expects to increase over the next few years."We wanted to make sure that charging stations were placed equitably across the state to make sure that everyone had access," he added.The goal is to create a network of superchargers every 50 miles across the rural communities, he said. The company is expanding into 24 states and has been in talks with state highway departments, governors' offices, utility companies, and other stakeholders.Part of the infrastructure bill is the <a href="https://www.energy.gov/articles/president-biden-doe-and-dot-announce-5-billion-over-five-years-national-ev-charging" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure</a> formula program, which will provide $5 billion over five years to states to deploy EV-charging infrastructure. States will submit plans for building the chargers to the federal transportation department and use a competitive request-for-proposal process to select organizations to build them.Jankowsky said the RFP process won't start for a few months, but it's what his company and others are waiting for to increase the use of EVs."It's not just enough that there's money," he added. "It really is going to take everybody working together because otherwise, it's only going to be the cities where all the Tesla drivers currently reside that will get these stations because that's where the economics are today."<h2>Utility companies are helping expand EV access to rural residents</h2>Utility companies are also working with public- and private-sector stakeholders to develop EV charging infrastructure. Last year, <a href="https://www.entergy-arkansas.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entergy Arkansas</a> launched <a href="https://www.entergynewsroom.com/news/entergy-arkansas-adopt-charger-installing-10-vehicle-charging-stations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Charge Up Arkansas</a> with the nonprofit <a href="https://adoptacharger.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Adopt a Charger</a> to install several stations across the state, with more being added in 2022, including in rural areas, Barrios said.<div type="image" title="a black car charging" height="652" width="869" msid="90424751" hostid="261"></div><a href="https://www.entergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entergy</a> — which also <a href="https://www.entergy.com/about_entergy/#:~:text=Our%20electric%20utilities%20generate%2C%20transmit,Orleans%20and%20Baton%20Rouge%2C%20Louisiana." target="_blank" rel="noopener">operates in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas</a> — is focused on NEVI funding. Help the organization focus on the customer and technology. </h2>"Marketers are able to think about what customer needs are not being met," Jones said. "If you start there, it's really hard for other parts of the organization to talk you out of things because, at the end of the day, marketers build and develop things that improve the customer's experience and ultimately lead to greater revenue." Marketers that want to get closer to technology and understand their industry's digital disruption may consider connecting with technology accelerators that work with startups. "A CMO might see a customer need that could be solved by a cool technology available through a startup," she said. As long as marketers are looking out for the best interest of where things are really headed in the industry, the CMO can be the right leader that isn't just focused on day-to-day operations, she added. <h2>2. Help hire marketing product owners who understand business and technology. </h2>Who are the right people to develop innovative technology products? "Everyone thinks that's IT," Jones said. "But you need someone who can sit with the business and with IT, who really understands the customer requirements, the business requirements and translates that to IT so what you need gets built." That person, she explained, might be in marketing. "Marketing product owners bring a level of understanding of what the market and the customer requires," she said. However, the required skill sets aren't easy to find, even within marketing, which was traditionally about making great ad campaigns and brochures."Today, you need someone who has a business, customer, and IT background, as well as a deep level of understanding of the company, and can stitch that all together," she said. "That's difficult to find." <h2>3. Help choose the right areas to focus on. </h2>In a constantly-changing industry landscape, it's essential to choose the right areas to focus on in terms of technology innovation, said Jones. However, it's also important to be agile: "We could wake up tomorrow and there could be another area we hadn't really anticipated or an offshoot of an area we're working on," she explained. That means staying on top of what is happening in the industry so you can build the right capabilities and deliver appropriate solutions. "For Ryder, I think you'll continue to see e-commerce grow, so it's important for us to build in that area around customer experience and the fulfillment side," she said. "Also, the world of electric vehicles and autonomous cars is certainly on a rapid pace, and I think the asset sharing platform we've built is going to continue to be a huge priority for us." Overall, Jones said, the opportunities for new revenue streams and business models in the transportation and logistics space show no signs of slowing down. "I don't think it ever stops," she said. <ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="12873713" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="ces-2022" source="Orion">CES 2022</keyword>, a big technology trade show, ended on Saturday in Las Vegas. </li><li>Car companies lined up to show the world their latest and greatest ideas. </li></ul>If you've noticed more <keyword id="6358815" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="tech" source="Orion">tech</keyword> <keyword id="11893589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="news" source="Orion">news</keyword> than normal lately, there's a good reason for that. CES 2022, a giant consumer-technology expo, just ended, and companies across industries showed off their latest and greatest innovations. In car land, that means plenty of new <keyword id="11897958" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="electric-vehicles" source="Orion">electric vehicles</keyword> and design concepts to stare at. Here we've rounded up some of the coolest vehicles revealed during CES from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Chevrolet, and Sony. Yes, that Sony. <h2>BMW iX Flow</h2><div type="image" title="A color changing BMW concept car, named the BMW iX Flow featuring E Ink, that was first debuted at CES 2022." height="950" width="1567" msid="88816287" hostid="261"></div>BMW showed off a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/bmw-just-unveiled-first-color-changing-car-video-2022-1">color-changing version</a> of its upcoming electric SUV, the iX. It uses e-ink technology — the same tech behind the Kindle e-reader — to switch colors at the press of a button. This doesn't exactly solve a problem, but there's no denying it looks cool as all hell. Check it out: <h2>BMW iX M60</h2><div type="image" title="BMW iX M60 SUV." height="1280" width="1706" msid="88816290" hostid="261"></div>The German carmaker also <a href="https://www.bmwusanews.com/newsrelease.do?id=3877&amp;mid=">took the wraps</a> off of a high-performance version of the iX, the iX M60. The sporty electric SUV will make 619 horsepower from two motors and speed to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. That's wickedly quick for a hulking SUV. It'll travel 280 miles on a full charge and have enhanced handling thanks to a specially-tuned suspension, BMW says. All that performance doesn't come cheap — the iX M60 will run you $105,000 before fees. It hits US dealers in June. <h2>Chevrolet Silverado EV</h2><div type="image" title="EMBARGO 1/5 DNP: 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV" height="1202" width="1603" msid="88816291" hostid="261"></div>General Motors unveiled the much-anticipated <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/electric-chevy-silverado-ev-price-range-release-date-ford-f150-2022-1">Chevy Silverado EV</a> on Wednesday. The electric pickup truck will compete with the F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T when it hits the market in the middle of 2023. It promises up to 400 miles of range, 664 horsepower, and a host of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/electric-chevy-silverado-ev-features-charging-midgate-frunk-multiflex-tailgate-2022-1">interesting features</a>. For example, there's a pass-through between the Silverado's bed and cab that allows owners to haul extra-long cargo.The fully-loaded RST First Edition Silverado EV costs $105,000. Eventually, Chevy will sell a base model with a $39,900 suggested retail price. <h2>Chevrolet Equinox EV</h2><div type="image" title="Chevrolet Equinox EV." height="1178" width="1571" msid="88816292" hostid="261"></div>The Silverado EV wasn't the only big announcement GM saved for CES. Far from it. The automaker unveiled a small electric SUV called the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chevy-electric-equinox-blazer-ev-electric-suv-2023-2022-1">Equinox EV</a> that will arrive next year. It'll cost $30,000 and bring another much-needed affordable option to the electric-car market. Stay tuned for more information about the Equinox EV over the next year. <h2>Chrysler Airflow</h2><div type="image" title="Chrysler Airflow electric SUV concept" height="1688" width="3000" msid="88816293" hostid="261"></div>Chrysler, the brand owned by the automaker Stellantis, announced at CES that it will only sell electric models by 2028. And it marked the occasion by unveiling a sleek electric SUV called the Airflow.The Airflow is just a concept for now, and Chrysler says its first EV will go into production in 2025. But the Airflow looks nearly production-ready, and it wouldn't be at all surprising if Chrysler's first real EV ends up looking a lot like this. <div type="image" title="Chrysler Airflow electric SUV concept." height="1588" width="3000" msid="88816294" hostid="261"></div>The Airflow has a futuristic, screen-filled interior, and a range of 350-400 miles. <h2>Cadillac InnerSpace</h2><div type="image" title="Cadillac InnerSpace autonomous electric EV" height="2257" width="3009" msid="88816295" hostid="261"></div>Cadillac revealed a concept for an autonomous vehicle that looks like it should be hurtling through space rather than rolling down Earthly roads. Lacking things like a steering wheel or pedals, the InnerSpace is designed to be a comfy lounge on wheels — one that takes you places while you just kick back, relax, and turn your attention to the massive screen in front of you. <div type="image" title="Cadillac InnerSpace autonomous electric EV" height="2667" width="4000" msid="88816296" hostid="261"></div>That's the idea, anyway. The InnerSpace is designed for a future of self-driving vehicles that aren't here yet. However, GM (Cadillac's parent company) boldly says it'll start selling fully autonomous vehicles by the middle of the decade. <h2>Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX</h2><div type="image" title="Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept EV." height="1563" width="2500" msid="88816297" hostid="261"></div>The whole idea behind the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mercedes-benz-electric-car-eqxx-620-mile-range-screen-tesla-2022-1">Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX</a> was to see how efficient an EV the German automaker could create. According to Mercedes, the lightweight, aerodynamic EQXX concept can travel 620 miles on a single charge of its battery. That's over 200 miles farther than the best Tesla and 100 miles farther than the rangiest EV you can buy today, the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/lucid-air-deliveries-begin-with-169000-dream-edition-tesla-range-2021-11">$170,000 Lucid Air</a>. You won't be able to buy an EQXX. But some of the breakthroughs Mercedes made in its development could end up in your future electric Benz. <h2>Sony Vision-S 02</h2><h2><div type="image" title="Sony Vision S-02 concept." height="856" width="1142" msid="88816298" hostid="261"></div></h2>Sony unveiled an electric concept sedan back in 2020. Now it's getting more serious about venturing into the EV market, and it brought a new design to CES. The <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/sony-electric-vehicle-prototype-playstation-sony-mobility-2022-1">Vision-S 02</a> is a prototype SUV with multiple screens and mobile-gaming capabilities. The concept also showcases a system of 40 cameras and sensors aimed at making driving safer by monitoring the car's surroundings and its driver. We don't know yet if Sony will sell its own EV or simply build technology for other manufacturers. It established a new division, Sony Mobility, to "explore entry into the EV market."

From a color-changing BMW to a Tesla-beating Mercedes, tour the coolest electric cars revealed this month

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="2560903" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="hyperion">Hyperion</keyword> CEO Angelo Kafantaris has positioned himself as a leading advocate for <keyword id="169046" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="hydrogen">hydrogen</keyword> as the alternative-energy choice for the future.</li><li>Hydrogen has been seen as losing out to battery-electric technology in the auto industry, even though hydrogen is abundant and, with fuel-cells, offers a lightweight counterpoint for all-electric propulsion.</li><li>Hyperion has auto, aerospace, and <keyword id="6357014" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="energy">energy</keyword> divisions, but <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hyperions-hydrogen-powered-xp-1-hypercar-1000-mile-range-2020-8">Hyperion Motors made waves by launching an exotic hypercar, the XP-1, to showcase hydrogen's capabilities</a>.</li></ul>Talk with Hyperion CEO Angelo Kafantaris for a few minutes and it rapidly becomes obvious that he isn't in the auto business, despite the fact that he just launched a wild-looking hypercar, the XP-1, that could notch 0-60 mph in under 2.2 seconds.Hyperion Motors represents just one facet of an ambitious hydrogen-powered business strategy. Along with Hyperion Aerospace and Hyperion Energy, the auto arm and its debut product are designed to achieve Kafantaris' ultimate goal: to reinvent and revitalize hydrogen power.Hydrogen fuel cells have been a viable form of energy generation — they've long been used by NASA — and automakers including Toyota, Honda, and GM have pushed them as a way to leave the internal combustion engine behind. But advances in battery-electrics and the ascent of Tesla over the past decade have put fuel cells in the rear view mirror, even if not everyone agrees with Elon Musk's dismissal of the tech as "fool cells."Kafantaris is eyeing a comeback, and that starts with changing the narrative. "We needed to focus on a car, to tell the story in a compelling way to the consumer," Kafantaris said in an interview with Business Insider. Thus, the XP-1, a car that's quicker to 60 mph than any Tesla, with double the range to boot. <h2>Show them the hypercar, and they will come</h2><div type="image" title="Hyperion XP-1" height="1124" width="1499" msid="77513427" hostid="261"></div>The XP-1 is "designed to function as an educational tool for the masses," Kafantaris said. The overarching point is that hydrogen's combination of abundance and portability makes it an ideal fuel for all-electric vehicles. And, of course, the only by-product is water, which is synthesized by a fuel cell's power-generating process.Kafantaris, who studied engineering at Ohio State before moving to <keyword id="34991" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="transportation">Transportation</keyword> Design at Detroit's College for Creative Studies, is quick to point out that hydrogen is actually a way to store useful energy, particularly if you want an efficient, zero-emissions way to go fast."You don't have the extra battery weight," he said, referring to the bulk of lithium-ion batteries, which are the main way that energy is currently banked for EVs. "So you can have better acceleration and handling — and the same amount of energy as a car that weighs twice as much. This is why NASA has been using hydrogen for 60 years. When you go to space, you want to be as light as possible."The XP-1, at 2,275 pounds, is a potent featherweight. Made of composites, Kevlar, aluminum, and titanium, it has no hefty engine or battery pack to haul around, just electric motors serving up punishing torque, so using hydrogen to max out performance made sense.True, hydrogen refueling infrastructure is in its infancy. But with just 300 vehicles slated for production, Hyperion doubtless expects to localize XP-1 sales in places like California, where a smattering of hydrogen stations serve those few buyers who drive one of the three fuel-cell cars on sale in the US today: the Toyota Mirai, Hyundai NEXO, and Honda Clarity. While those cars have their fans, Kafantaris bills the XP-1 as the far more compelling pitch for what the most abundant element in the universe can do.<h2>Energy is the focus</h2><div type="image" title="Hyperion XP-1" height="1334" width="2000" msid="77513429" hostid="261"></div>"The XP-1 will be the least exciting vehicle from Hyperion," Kafantaris said, but he doesn't plan on becoming another Tesla rival. "I don't want our focus to be manufacturing," he said, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/henrik-fisker-billion-dollar-electric-car-company-post-coronavirus-era-2020-7">echoing sentiments recently offered by Henrik Fisker</a>, whose struck a deal with contract builder Magna to assemble his new Ocean EV."Our focus is on the energy side," Kafantaris said, adding that hydrogen has its most "impactful applications in aerospace and industrials." To support that vision and enhance the consumers' understanding of hydrogen as a medium of energy storage, he said Hyperion would undertake the assembly of a nationwide network of refueling stations. But he's also managing expectations. "To be an innovator, you have to set aside your biases," he said. "In five years, if hydrogen isn't the best solution, I'll know that." Still, he puts a lot of stock in atomic number one."Until we have cold fusion, hydrogen will be best."
