After a long delay, finally India is unveiling its first <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=heliport&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">heliport</a> in Rohini area of New Delhi. 
 
The dedicated heliport, owned by<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pawan+hans&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd</a> (PHHL), will carry passengers from Delhi to nearby areas. The heliport is a 100-crore project and will be integrated one with a chopper maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) unit. 
 
Aviation secretary R N Choubey said the Rs 100-crore project will be inaugurated on February 28 and will be an integrated one with a chopper maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) unit part of the complex at Rohini. 
 
The heliport will have parking bays, AC passenger terminal building and car parking area for the flyers. 
 
"Being a busy airport,<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=igi+airport&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> IGI airport</a> does not have much space for helicopter movement. The Rohini one will be a dedicated heliport and will make chopper movement much easier," said Choubey. 
 
"To promote regional air connectivity, Pawan Hans has also prepared a roadmap to connect all the major destinations from this heliport such as Delhi to Shimla, Haridwar, Dehradun, Mathura, Agra, Meerut and industrial hubs such as Manesar, Bahadurgarh etc," Pawan Hans had stated.

However, in New York City, the ride incurs $200 between JFK International Airport and Manhattan, CNBC reported. </li></ul>American helicopter ride service app, Blade, is betting that India’s congested cities will soon require an alternative mode of travel to escape increasing traffic. <a href="https://blade.flyblade.com/p/india" data-type="tilCustomLink">The company</a> is planning to soon launch a pilot program called Urban Air Mobility (“UAM”) that will connect metropolitan Mumbai to heliports in Pune and Shirdi, a major pilgrimage site in India. Blade, along with Hunch Ventures, India, a private equity firm, will launch Mumbai in March 2019. It will have operational hubs in Juhu and Mahalaxmi that will offer flights through the route. “India’s major cities are consistently ranked as the most congested in the world,” Rob Wiesenthal, CEO of Blade, said in a statement. “By broadening consumers’ access to on-demand <keyword id="31907" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aviation">aviation</keyword>, we can start to mitigate these issues today, while building the foundation for Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) services tomorrow.” Blade has not yet revealed the prices for the helicopter ride in India. Private helicopter ride app Blade will soon launch in India to help city residents escape traffic

The government has proposed that 100 critical transport infrastructure projects, for last and first-mile connectivity identified in ports, coal, steel, fertilizer and food grain sectors. Presenting the Union <keyword id="6358021" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="budget" source="Orion">Budget</keyword> for 2023-24 in Parliament, <keyword id="25455" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="finance" source="Orion">Finance</keyword> Minister <keyword id="129243" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nirmala-sitharaman" source="Orion">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> said these projects will be taken up on priority with an investment of Rs 75,000 crore, including Rs 15,000 crore from private sources. <keyword id="679937" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sitharaman" source="Orion">Sitharaman</keyword> proposed hiking the capital expenditure outlay by 33 per cent to Rs 10 lakh crore for infrastructure development for 2023-24 and will be at 3.3 per cent of the GDP. Presenting the Budget for 2023-24, she said the newly established infrastructure finance secretariat will assist in attracting more private investment. She said that this will be almost three times the outlay in 2019-20. The 'Effective Capital Expenditure' of the Centre is budgeted at Rs 13.7 lakh crore, which will be 4.5 per cent of GDP. For civil aviation, the finance minister said that 50 additional airports, heliports, water aerodromes and advanced landing grounds will be revived for improving regional air connectivity. Further, as part of its green growth strategy, which is among the seven priorities of the Budget, Sitharaman said the government has been implementing many programmes for green fuel, green energy, green farming, green mobility, green buildings, and green equipment, and policies for efficient use of energy across various economic sectors. "These green growth efforts help in reducing carbon intensity of the economy and provides for largescale green job opportunities," the Finance Minister said. "India is moving forward firmly for the 'panchamrit' and net-zero carbon emission by 2070 to usher in green industrial and economic transition. This Budget builds on our focus on green growth," she said. Union Finance Minister announced that the government proposes to increase capital expenditure outlay by 33 per cent to Rs 10 lakh crore in 2023-24, which would be 3.3 per cent of the GDP. "(This overall outlay) would be 3.3 per cent of GDP, almost three times the outlay made in 2019-20. With the substantial increase, it is central to the government's efforts to enhance growth potential and job creation, the crowd in private investments and provides a cushion against global headwinds," Sitharaman said in her Budget speech. This year's budget is significant being the last full budget of the <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> government's second tenure as the general elections are scheduled for next year. Presenting the Union Budget in Parliament today, Finance Minister Sitharaman pegged the fiscal deficit target for 2023-24 at 5.9 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). In 2022-23, the government pegged fiscal deficit at 6.4 per cent. The Finance Minister further said that the government intends to bring the fiscal deficit below 4.5 per cent of GDP by the financial year 2025-26. Budget 2023: Govt proposes 100 critical projects for last-mile logistics at ₹75,000 crore

<ul><li>For attaining over 6% GDP growth, a public investment led budget was needed this year. </li><li>This budget focuses on increased spending in infrastructure, which is likely to have a multiplier effect. </li><li>The budget also announced multiple forward-looking initiatives for improving the infrastructure sector. </li></ul>India intends to be a 5 trillion-dollar economy in the next few years. Infrastructure is one of the key catalysts for achieving this objective. Government of India launched the National Infrastructure Pipeline for the period FY 20–25 for supporting development of road, airport, port, urban, electricity, railways, among others. Given the importance of infrastructure sector, in budget FY21–22 Government of India announced multiple initiatives including creation of a new Development Finance Institution for extending long tenure debt financing at reasonable rates and announced potential projects for monetization through a National Monetization Pipeline besides increasing capital expenditure (Source: Budget FY2021–22). In Budget 2022–23, initiatives to further strengthen the infrastructure sector were undertaken including significant increase in infrastructure capital expenditure, new infrastructure development programmes, formation of a high-level committee for urban planning among others (Source: Budget FY2022–23). Continuing with the focus of creating world-class infrastructure, the current Budget has allocated substantial funds for capital expenditure for developing infrastructure. The Government has committed an outlay of ₹10 lakh crore during 2023-24 towards infrastructure capital expenditure compared to ₹7.5 lakh crore (BE) during 2022–23, which is a 33% year-on-year increase. The overall effective capital expenditure of the Government is estimated at ₹13.7 lakh crore for 2023–24 considering the additional grant in aid earmarked for capital asset creation for states. Given such high budgetary provisions, it is clear that infrastructure spending remains a key lever for the Government of India to enable overall GDP growth. Multiple initiatives have been declared for developing infrastructure in the current Budget including: <ul><li>₹2.4 lakh crore capital outlay for railways </li><li>₹75,000 crore (including ₹15,000 from private sector) for creating 100 critical transport infrastructure for improving first and last mile connectivity for ports, coal, steel, fertilizer and food grain sectors </li><li>50 additional airports, heliports, water aerodromes and advance landing grounds for improving regional connectivity, </li><li>100% mechanical desludging of septic tanks and sewers in all cities and towns focusing on scientific wet and dry waste management </li><li>₹79,000 crore outlay on PM Awas Yojana, 66% higher than previous year </li></ul>The budget also announced multiple forward-looking initiatives for improving the infrastructure sector. For ensuring more private sector investments in infrastructure like roads, railways, urban infrastructure and power, support will be provided by the newly established Infrastructure Finance Secretariat. Focus will be provided to transform our cities to sustainable cities by encouraging states and cities to undertake urban reforms. Cities will be incentivized to improve their creditworthiness – emphasis will be on property tax governance and ring-fencing user charges. An Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) will be created and managed by National Housing Bank, which will enable creation of infrastructure in Tier 2 and 3 cities by supporting viability gap funding, enabling creation of more bankable projects, enhancing access to external funding, among others. Further, fifty-year interest free loans for capital expenditure within 2023-24 may be availed by the states, which will enable the states allocate funds in areas like urban planning and reforms, fiscal reforms in urban local bodies, capital expenditure (states share), among others. To complement the physical infrastructure spending, multiple initiatives for augmenting digital infrastructure have also been announced in the budget. Examples include the National Data Governance Policy which will enable innovation in areas like road sector management, urban service delivery, urban safety &amp; security management, infrastructure management, among others. Open data will also enable evidence-based policy formulation in the infrastructure sector. The three Centres of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence will enable development of solutions for creating sustainable cities. One hundred labs for developing applications using 5G services will enable creation of digital solutions in areas like intelligent transport management, urban water management, solid waste management, among others. The budget also focusses on green growth, including initiatives for greening of infrastructure. A Green Credit Programme is proposed to be notified for incentivizing undertaking environmentally sustainable activities by various stakeholders including local bodies. Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources dhan (GOBARdhan) scheme intends to create 500 new “Waste to Wealth” plants for promoting a circular economy. Investment of ₹20,700 crore including ₹8,300 crore central support has been allocated for construction of inter-state transmission system for grid integration and evacuation of 13 GW renewable energy from Ladakh. Overall, for attaining over 6% GDP growth, a public investment led budget was needed this year. This budget focuses on increased spending in infrastructure, which is likely to have a multiplier effect by increasing demand generation, creating more employment as well as enhancing the quality of life of citizens. A high-school graduate running an engineering workshop has built a working chopper in the backyard of his <keyword id="6385572" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kottayam">Kottayam</keyword> home. 
 
D Sadasivan (54) was requested by his daughter’s school principal to make a model of a chopper to be displayed in front of kids at the school. However, he decided to go one step ahead and build a fully-operational one.

In the chopper, Sadasivan used the engine of a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/No-car-company-produces-as-many-cars-as-this-Indian-company-does/articleshow/47248716.cms">Maruti 800</a>, glass of an autorickshaw as the windscreen, and a reduction gear box used for industrial purpose, while making rest of the parts at his workshop in Kanjirappally.

"The chopper's interior is made of iron and the exterior of aluminium," he added. 
 
The chopper took four years to be built, and would be ready to fly in a month's time.
