This comment startles everyone around and inspires Appu’s parents to separate their waste.

FMCG major <keyword id="87377" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Unilever-Ltd">Hindustan Unilever Ltd</keyword> on Thursday reported an increase of 10.7 percent in its consolidated net profit at ₹2,100 crore for the first quarter ended June, 2021. The company had posted a net profit of ₹1,897 crores in the April-June quarter of the previous fiscal. Its net sales during the quarter under review stood at ₹11,966 crore, up 13.21 per cent, as against ₹10,570 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (<keyword id="44863" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="HUL">HUL</keyword>) said in a regulatory filing. HUL's total expenses was at ₹9,546 crore, up 14.68 per cent in the first quarter of FY 2021-22, as against ₹8,324 crore a year ago. Commenting on the result, HUL CMD <keyword id="169120" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanjiv-Mehta">Sanjiv Mehta</keyword> said: "In a challenging environment, we have delivered a strong performance across topline and bottomline. Our performance in the quarter has been resilient and is reflective of our capabilities, the agility in our operations and the intrinsic strength of our portfolio." The second wave of COVID-19 brought upon us a severe humanitarian crisis. Mehta further said: "Looking forward, we remain cautiously optimistic about the demand recovery. Our focus firmly remains behind delivering volume-led competitive growth and margins in a healthy range." Shares of HUL on Thursday were trading at ₹2,446.15, up 0.50 per cent on BSE. FMCG biggie Hindustan Unilever's profit rises over 10%, remains "cautiously optimistic" on demand recovery

<keyword id="34523" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="fmcg">FMCG</keyword> major <keyword id="87377" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Hindustan-Unilever-Ltd">Hindustan Unilever Ltd</keyword> (HUL) on Thursday reported a 13 per cent increase in <keyword id="1009537" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Consolidated">consolidated</keyword> net profit at ₹2,190 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, riding on strong volume growth. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of ₹1,938 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal, HUL said in a regulatory filing. The company's consolidated <keyword id="474440" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="total-income">total income</keyword> stood at ₹12,542 crore, as against ₹12,235 crore in the year-ago period. For the fiscal 2020-21, the company said its consolidated net profit was at ₹7,999 crore, as compared to ₹6,756 crore in 2019-20, a growth of 18 per cent. Consolidated total income for FY21 was at ₹47,438 crore, as against ₹40,415 crore in <keyword id="2708116" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="FY20">FY20</keyword>, the company said. "Our in-quarter performance was strong on both the top-line and bottom-line. Despite challenging times, in FY'21 our business ecosystem has withstood the disruption and demonstrated agility and resilience across the value chain," HUL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Mehta said. He further said, "we have delivered on our multi-stakeholder business model. Our purpose-led brands and capabilities were further strengthened during the year and this positions us well to serve our consumers during this turbulent period." The company's focus firmly remains behind delivering volume-led competitive growth, Mehta added. "The recent surge in <keyword id="8764262" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">COVID</keyword> cases is of serious concern and ensuring safety and wellbeing of people remains our top priority," he said adding HUL would continue to work closely with governments, health authorities and its partners to support the needs of the society and the nation to overcome this adversity. The all-stock deal, which is valued at ₹317 billion ($4.5 billion), will see HUL take over GSK’s consumer healthcare operations and merge them with itself. Its offer to exchange 4.39 of its shares for every one share in GSK’s subsidiary reportedly beat out all-cash <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Companies/tlyjL7ec2HRAyB5r0vjRCK/Nestle-Unilever-Coke-make-bids-in-4-billionplus-GSK-Indi.html">bids</a> from the likes of Nestle, ITC and Coca Cola. The businesses being divested, which include health drinks Horlicks, Maltova and Boost, brought in a total of £406 million (₹36.4 billion) in sales in the nine months ended September 2018. Interestingly, the 140-year old Horlicks will be owned by HUL’s parent company, Unilever, and it will have to pay royalties on sales. The acquisition also includes GSK’s 82% holding in its Bangladesh unit as well as branding rights to products in various other markets. HUL will also distribute GSK’s over-the-counter and oral healthcare products like <keyword id="135142" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="crocin">Crocin</keyword> and Sensodyne for a period of five years as part of a preliminary move into the pharmaceuticals space. In exchange, GSK will get a 5.7% stake in HUL, which is valued at ₹230 billion, and hence, become the second-largest shareholder in the company. However, after the deal is completed at the end of 2019, by which time HUL will be India’s largest publicly-listed food and refreshments company, GSK plans <a href="https://www.gsk.com/en-gb/media/press-releases/gsk-to-divest-horlicks-and-other-consumer-healthcare-nutrition-products-to-unilever/">to sell its stake </a>in HUL in what is expected to be a very profitable cash-out. Hindustan Unilever and GlaxoSmithKline’s domestic consumer unit are merging in what is said to be India’s largest consumer goods deal ever

The stock tanked 6.59% to ₹2,483.95 on the NSE. The stock emerged as the biggest laggard among the Sensex and Nifty firms during the morning trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd on Wednesday reported a 2.33% decline in consolidated net profit at ₹2,595 crore for the second quarter ended in September 2024, impacted by moderation in demand from the urban market. The company had logged a net profit of ₹2,657 crore in the July-September quarter a year ago, HUL said in a regulatory filing. However, revenue from product sales was up 2.36% at ₹15,703 crore in the September quarter, from ₹15,340 crore in the year-ago period, HUL which owns power brands such as Surf, Rin, Lux, Pond's, Lifebuoy, Lakme, Brooke Bond, Lipton and Horlicks said. "In the September quarter, <keyword id="21419477" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="FMCG-demand" source="keywords">FMCG demand</keyword> witnessed moderating growth in urban markets, while rural continued to recover gradually. In this context, we delivered a competitive and profitable performance," HUL CEO and Managing Director Rohit Jawa said. HUL reported an underlying sales growth of 2% and underlying volume growth of 3%. Total expenses were at ₹12,581 crore in the September quarter, up 3.03% year-on-year. HUL's total income, which includes other income, was up 2.14% to ₹16,145 crore in the September quarter of FY25. Addressing an earnings call, HUL CFO Ritesh Tiwari said, "Two thirds of our business we do in urban areas, and one-third we do in rural areas … we are seeing growth in the urban market moderating. We are seeing rural growth recovery is gradual … it impacts all the categories that we have." On the outlook, he said, "In the near term, we expect demand trends to be stable with no further acceleration in pace of growth." In this context, Tiwari said, "Our focus remains on driving competitive volume-led growth, while continuing investments behind our brands and strategy priorities … If commodity prices remain where they are, we expect a low single digit price growth in the near-term." Hindustan Unilever shares tumble over 6% post Q2 results

New Delhi, Shares of <keyword id="6365619" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindustan-unilever" source="Orion">Hindustan Unilever</keyword> Ltd fell 2 per cent on Friday after the company reported a marginal decline in consolidated net profit for the second quarter ended September 30. The stock declined 2.07 per cent to settle at Rs 2,495 apiece on the BSE. During the day, it dropped 2.47 per cent to Rs 2,484.80. It slipped 1.84 per cent to end at Rs 2,501 per share on the NSE. The company's market valuation fell by Rs 12,417.58 crore to Rs 5,86,223.02 crore. In volume terms, 2.63 lakh shares of the company were traded on the BSE and over 36 lakh shares on the NSE during the day. Hindustan Unilever on Thursday reported a marginal decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,657 crore for the second quarter ended September 30 amid subdued rural demand and heightened competitive intensity. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,670 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) said in a regulatory filing. Total income stood at Rs 15,806 crore in the quarter under review, compared to Rs 15,253 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Total expense in the second quarter was higher at Rs 12,211 crore against Rs 11,965 crore a year ago. "We delivered resilient and competitive growth whilst stepping up our EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) margin in a challenging operating environment, marked by subdued rural demand and heightened competitive intensity," HUL CEO and Managing Director Rohit Jawa said.

HUL shares decline 2%; mcap erodes by Rs 12,417.58 cr after earnings announcement

Mumbai, Benchmark indices Sensex and <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> pared initial gains and settled lower on Saturday due to selling in <keyword id="19931572" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fmcg" source="keywords">FMCG</keyword> and IT shares. The 30-share <keyword id="19895774" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bse" source="keywords">BSE</keyword> Sensex fell by 259.58 points or 0.36 per cent to settle at 71,423.65 as 24 of its components declined and six advanced. The Nifty declined 50.60 points or 0.23 per cent to 21,571.80.
