The hybrid pitch, which combines natural turf with synthetic fibres, promises enhanced durability and consistent playability, reducing the strain on ground staff and maintaining quality playing conditions. With only 5% synthetic fibres, the pitch ensures that the natural characteristics essential for cricket are preserved. Taylor expressed gratitude towards the HPCA for their collaboration on this pioneering project. This innovation aligns with the ICC's recent sanctioning of hybrid pitches for T20 and one-day international matches, with plans to expand their use in four-day county championships starting this year. The integration of technologies like SISAir, a root aeration system, further underscores the commitment to enhancing cricket infrastructure in India. India's first-ever 'hybrid pitch' unveiled in Dharamshala

Dharamsala: The fourth ODI between India and the West Indies on October 18 will be the <keyword id="98224" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Himachal-Pradesh-Cricket-Association">Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association</keyword> (HPCA) stadium's first ODI game in almost two years. As the panoramic venue gears up for just its second ever international match, preparations are in full swing to ensure that both players and the crowd have an experience worth remembering. Bringing international action to the hills was never an easy task, but due to the HPCA's constant efforts over the years, the state of <keyword id="6358126" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Himachal-Pradesh">Himachal Pradesh</keyword> today boasts a world-class cricket stadium. The board embarked upon a journey in the year 2000 and its the development - especially in terms of infrastructure has been immense. The growth of the association has picked up sharply since 2002, reaching almost 150 million by 2008 and a staggering 1000 millions at present.

	The reason behind the positive twist is mainly attributed to the untiring efforts being put in by the HPCA under the dynamic leadership of Anurag Thakur, who led the team from the front with full dedication and commitment which was duly complimented by the financial support in the shapes of subsidies by the BCCI.
 The foundation of the HPCA Stadium was laid by <keyword id="508455" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Himachal-Pradesh-Chief-Minister">Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister</keyword> Prem Kumar Dhumal in March 2002. It was a significant achievement for the HPCA not only because creating an international stadium in the hills was almost unthinkable, but also for playing a crucial role in the promotion of cricket in the state. Thanks to the BCCI's support, the stadium began getting its shape every passing year and in 2007, the construction was almost 75 percent complete.

	As the lush green ground matching international standards was ready for playing, the stadium even hosted some first-class matches and a prestigious three-day practice match between Pakistan and the Board President’s XI. In September 2007, the ICC inspected the stadium to include in into the list of venues for international matches, but unfortunately due to a few shortcomings related to a lack of proper hotel accommodation, the picturesque stadium had to wait for two more years before getting the clearance for ODI and Twenty20 matches.

	The ground is prepared with Bermuda and winter grass and comprises a field size of 80 yards from the centre of the square. The main square has six strips , out of which centre three has the TV camera facility. In addition, there exist two separate practice areas with eight strips for both teams. The stadium in not only furnished with modern amenities and state of art machinery, but also with proper international-quality equipment which include 11 rollers, and 4 Super Soppers.

	The stadium also gives clarion-call to the players and is very well connected with the main roads of the town. There are 13 stands and five main entries for 19,979 spectators. The stadium has two blocks, South Block (Pavillion End) and North Block (media centre). The South Block consists of magnificent dressing rooms, with luxurious facilities for players, match referee room, observer room, umpire Room, third umpire room, scorers’ room, video analyst room, corporate boxes and a VIP sitting area.
 The North Block nestles the media centre, <keyword id="55539" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="commentary">commentary</keyword> box, venue operation centre and the post-match conference area. The media centre has the capacity to accommodate nearly 150 people and by the look of it, the proceedings of the matches are clearly visible from there. There are appropriate and marked places to put cameras to cover the event live and particularly to keep a close vigil at all activities.
 In the lap of the <keyword id="52569" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="himalayas">Himalayas</keyword>, surrounded by green tress and tea gardens is the special beauty provided to players and officials called ‘The Pavillion’ by the HPCA. It is situated at a place which gives a complete view of the stadium from its rooms by using any binocular. The cottages there are eco friendly and they are commodious enough to put in more than two teams along with other supporting cricket staff. With a nice little blend of cricket and nature, the Dharamsala ODI promises to be a show-stopper.

New Delhi, Mar 31 () State-owned SJVN on Tuesday said it has paid a sum of about Rs 400 crore and 179 crore to the Centre and the Himachal Pradesh government, respectively, as an interim dividend for the financial year 2019-20. Engaged in the generation of power, SJVN is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Himachal Pradesh government. "SJVN Chairman Nand Lal Sharma has paid Rs 179.35 crore as interim dividend to government of Himachal Pradesh through cheque was handed over to Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh," the company said in a statement. For the financial year 2019-20, a total interim dividend of Rs 668.07 crore was announced by the company. "While Rs 400.32 crore has been paid to Government of India, Rs 88.40 crores are being paid to public shareholders as interim dividend," the SJVN chairman said in the statement. In the company, the government of Himachal Pradesh holds 26.85 per cent stake, while 59.92 shares are with the Government of India and the rest 13.23 per cent are with the public. ABI HRS

The snow laden state of Himachal Pradesh is a North Indian state of India located in the Western Himalayas. Spread over an area of 55,673 square kilometres, the state has a total number of 51,59,000 eligible and registered voters found on the electoral rolls. This figure comprises of 26,45,533 males, 25,13,408 females and 59 voters of the third gender. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the state elected the BJP from all its constituencies thereby giving 4 seats in total to the party for the parliament. The BJP got 3 seats during 2009 elections leaving 1 seat for the Congress party. The results of the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 saw the Congress party winning from 3 seats while the BJP got 1 seat from the state. Most exit polls are giving all four seats in the state to BJP and none to Congress. Today’s Chanakya also predicted that Congress may fail to win even one seat in Himachal Pradesh and BJP will bag all the four seats. Himachal witnessed a direct contest between BJP and Congress. Himachal Pradesh has four Lok Sabha seats namely Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur and Shimla. IN 2014 general elections, the BJP won a thumping victory from this state and bagged all the four seats. The sitting MPs of the party who won during 2014 elections from Himachal Pradesh are Shanta Kumar (Kangra), Ram Swaroop Sharma (Mandi), Anurag Singh Thakur (Hamirpur), and Virendra Kashyap (Shimla). The party is now fielding two of its sitting MPs namely Ramswaroop Sharma and Anurag Thakur from their winning constituencies. Shantakumar in Kangra and Suresh Kashyap in Shimla have been replaced by Kishan Kapoor and Suresh Kashyap respectively. The Congress party is now fielding Ram Lal Thakur from Hamirpur, Pawan Kajal from Kangra, Ashrey Sharma from Mandi and Dhani Ram Shandil from Shimla. For so long, the Mandi constituency had been a stronghold for the Congress party. Out of the 15 Lok Sabha elections held so far in the country, Congress won this seat 11 times. This constituency has 17 assembly seats and the BJP has 14 seats under its umbrella now. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign in Himachal Pradesh, the key leader of the party Dumal was seen vigorously campaigning for bagging favorable results for the BJP from Hamirpur and Shantakumar from Kangra.

New Delhi, Mar 11 () The World Bank will provide USD 80 million (about Rs 600 crore) loan to improve water management practices and increase agricultural productivity in selected gram panchayats or village councils in Himachal Pradesh, an official statement said Wednesday. An agreement in this regard was signed between the Government of India, Government of Himachal Pradesh and the World Bank. The Integrated Project for Source Sustainability and Climate Resilient Rain-Fed Agriculture in Himachal Pradesh will be implemented in 428 gram panchayats in 10 districts benefiting over 4 lakh smallholder farmers, women and pastoral communities, said the finance ministry statement. In Himachal Pradesh, many of the lowland areas lack access to irrigation water and depend on decreasing amounts of rainfall during the critical monsoon season. Agricultural production and snowlines have already shifted to higher altitudes, impacting the production of fruits, including HP's iconic apples. Climate change is also expected to increase average temperatures and decrease rainfall in the lowlands, while both temperatures and rainfall are expected to increase in the highlands, which could lead to more extreme flooding events. "The project will improve upstream water sources in forests, pastures and grasslands and ensure sufficient water is available for sustainable agriculture both in Himachal Pradesh and in downstream states," the ministry said. World Bank to provide USD 80 mn to improve water management in HP

New Delhi, Jan 21 () State-owned power firm SJVNL on Tuesday said Himachal Pradesh's Additional Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh has been been appointed as its part time government director.
"Ministry of Power on 20th January, 2020 has appointed Ram Subhag Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (MPP &amp; Power), Government of Himachal Pradesh as part time Government Director on the Board of the Company with immediate effect," the firm said in a BSE filing.
He is appointed as nominee director of Himachal Pradesh on the Board of SJVN Ltd (SJVNL) from January 20, 2020, the statement said.
Singh is a 1987 batch lndian Administrative Services Officer of Himachal cadre. He is a doctorate in social sciences and also holds, post graduate diplomas in Human Resource Management and Public Administration. KKS BAL
