According to media reports, Tata Consultancy Services (<keyword id="6357150" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="TCS">TCS</keyword>) is mulling not to share its <keyword id="2700959" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Volume-growth-data">volume growth data</keyword>. <keyword id="6354185" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="IT">It</keyword> is likely to come up with a new process in FY2015-16 to review the growth parameters. 
 
“I think it’s time we got away from volume and pricing growth numbers. Current metrics were put in place long ago when TCS was a much simpler company. Now, given the mix of business we have, probably the volume growth number is resulting in more noise than any meaningful data interpretation. Probably in April 2015, while sharing the March quarter numbers, we’ll do some refresh on the metrics and take a full look at what is it that we have to disclose,” said Rajesh Gopinathan, chief financial officer and vice-president, TCS. 
 It is pertinent to mention here that only two major IT companies – TCS and <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> – reveal their volume growth data. In October-December quarter of FY2014-15, TCS had registered volume growth of just 0.4%, which was the lowest in the history of India’s largest information technology (IT) firm. 
 
According to analysts, financial revenue growth data is enough to give an indication about a company is performing. Shashi Bhushan, IT analyst at Prabhudas Lilladher, says, “In the past few years, there has been a massive change in the way industry operates and is being perceived. Change in reporting metrics is definitely inevitable. I do not think the Street will react negatively if TCS discontinues with the volume growth number.” 
 
Other major IT companies like Wipro and HCL Technologies have already stopped giving out these data.

Mumbai, Mar 27 () The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday refrained from making any projections for growth and inflation saying the performance of these two key macroeconomic parameters in the days ahead would depend upon the intensity, spread and duration of COVID-19.Announcing the decisions of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that no projection for growth and inflation was being given in view of the uncertainty created by outbreak of the deadly novel coronavirus (COVID-19).Das further said that the growth projection of 4.7 per cent for the fourth quarter of 2019-20 and 5 per cent for the whole fiscal was "at risk."On the global economy, the governor said that slowdown could deepen impacting the growth prospects everywhere in the world.As regards India, Das said, "growth and inflation would be contingent on intensity, spread and duration of COVID-19."The Reserve Bank in its monetary policy usually provides projections for growth and inflation. According to an analysis by LiveMint, while the Barclays report evaluated Amazon Pay, it did not include Flipkart’s payment company PhonePe. Flipkart has recently claimed that it is nearly double the size of Amazon. That estimate is based on numbers that show increasing revenues and market share in the past two years. Wal-mart acquired Flipkart earlier this year for $16 billion. With the backing of the US retail giant, it’s likely it will be a close race between the two.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 17 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India Governor <keyword id="6359111" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="shaktikanta-das" source="Orion">Shaktikanta Das</keyword> chaired meetings with Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of public sector banks and certain private sector banks on Wednesday. The meetings were also attended by Deputy Governor M. K. Jain along with a few senior officials of the RBI, the central bank said in a statement. Governor Das acknowledged the crucial role played by the commercial banks in supporting economic growth throughout the turbulent times since the outbreak of the pandemic and the ongoing financial market turmoil. Das further stated that despite challenges, the Indian banking sector has remained resilient and continued to improve in various performance parameters. "He advised the banks to remain watchful of the evolving macroeconomic situation, including global spillovers, and take mitigating measures proactively so that the potential impact on their balance sheets is minimised and financial stability risks are contained," the RBI statement said. Among other matters, issues relating to lagging growth in deposits vis-a-vis credit growth, asset quality, investments in IT infrastructure, adoption of new-age technology solutions, and functioning of Digital Banking Units were also discussed. 'Remain watchful' is RBI Governor's advice to heads of banks amid global headwinds

In a bid to encourage start-ups, the <keyword id="6354952" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Delhi-Government">Delhi government</keyword> is taking steps that will exempt them from various rules and regulations till they achieve a particular turnover, a top official told PTI. 
 Lots of start-ups are coming up in the country and there is a need to provide them a conducive environment for their growth, Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (<keyword id="6391107" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="DIPP">DIPP</keyword>) <keyword id="6358887" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Amitabh-Kant">Amitabh Kant</keyword> told PTI. 
 
 
"I think the challenge really is that how do we ensure that they (start-ups) do not have to go through any of the government procedures and regulations. 
 
"We are pushing for that for a particular number of years or till they achieve a particular turnover. These start-ups do not have to go to the very complicated process of company registration or labour registration or going through income tax processes and they keep away from the government and that is something which we are trying to evolve," he said. 
 
Kant also said India is seeing a huge energy, vibrancy and dynamism in start-ups and "We have to encourage lot of people to get into manufacturing" 
 
"Start-ups have to be given a major thrust," he said adding, "our aim is that we should be able to create an eco system where manufacturing and young start-ups flourish". 
 After 'Make in India' drive, Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> in his Independence Day speech had announced a new campaign - Start-up India; Stand up India - to promote entrepreneurship. 
 
As per estimates, there are about 3,200 tech-led start-ups in India, with 800 coming on board every year. 
 
Talking about ease of doing business, Kant said the government has taken several steps to improve India's ranking. 
 
India is currently ranked 142nd among 189 nations in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business 2015 study. With the exception of two parameters (getting credit and protecting minority investors), India does not feature in the top 100 in the remaining parameters. 
 
In 'dealing with construction permits' and 'enforcing contracts' parameters, India ranks among the bottom 10 economies as per the ranking. 
 
On the report he said: "The World Bank study was based on only Mumbai and Delhi. Now Mumbai and Delhi are not business centres any more, they are commercial areas. Industries have moved out of Delhi and Mumbai to areas (such as) Haryana, Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad. 
 
"So I think the World Bank study in someway is flawed because of its representative charter being only Mumbai and Delhi," he added. 
 
Kant expressed hope that, this year India's ranking would improve in the report. The efforts aims at bringing India into the top 50 ranks in the ease of doing business.

Delhi government working on plans benefiting start-ups: DIPP secretary Amitabh Kant

Mumbai, Jul 3 () Corporates with adequate balance sheet strength are more likely to sustain the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected all the sectors, says a report. In the current exceptional circumstances, it is futile to look at profit and loss parameters, according to the SBI's research report, Ecowrap. "What will be more important to closely observe the balance sheet strength. Ideally, corporates with such strength will be able to navigate through this exceptional times," the report said. It said no sector is untouched with the impact of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdowns even after opening up will prolong the economic pain.The report has looked into balance sheet strength of various sectors based on some key parameters such as debt-to-equity (DE), debt service coverage (DSCR), interest service coverage ratio (ISCR) and cash and bank balance to debt. Sectors such as automobile, FMCG, consumer durable though have reported negative growth in all key parameters in the fourth quarter of FY2020, have the requisite balance sheet strength to come out from the current situation, the report said. While the automobile sector has a DE ratio of 0.20 and DSCR and ISCR of 1.57 and 5.56 respectively, the consumer durable sector has a DE of 0.25 and DSCR and ISCR of 4.77 and 8.93 respectively. There are sectors such as sugar, steel, telecom services and constructions among others that do not have the balance sheet strength and may face difficulties in this uncertain period, it said. For example, sugar sector which is not performing well is also having high DE of 1.58 and low DSCR and ISCR of 1.03 and 1.52 respectively. The report said sectors such as textile and construction have DSCR and ISCR that are significantly low which shows the weak repayment capacity of loan as well as interest. Within such sectors also there may be some corporates with higher DE as compared to others and may be affected more, it said. Dividend pay out by IT firms likely to dip as companies are looking at conserving cash due to COVID-19 uncertainties and after effects, it said. The report said the pandemic has resulted in unprecedented rating downgrade across sectors. In capital goods (capital goods and engineering) a massive 870 downgrades was seen as compared to only 50 upgrades in the first quarter of FY2021. Construction, textile, steel, reality, auto ancillary, gems and jewellery have reported huge downgrades during the period as compared to very small or no upgrades. There were 182 rating upgrades and 2,996 rating downgrades, for the select sectors during this time, it said. "In terms of rating downgrades, it seems the current crisis is unprecedented and it is important to look at corporates within sectors that have adequate balance sheet strength" the report said. Riding on increase in sales of the top three manufacturers – <keyword id="6912" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="maruti">Maruti</keyword> Suzuki, <keyword id="596" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Hyundai">Hyundai</keyword> and <keyword id="6374147" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Honda-Cars">Honda Cars</keyword>, car sales jumped 17.9% in August. This is also the third successive month for a double-digit growth in car sales. 
 
Led by compact and utility vehicle segments, wholesale dispatches of Maruti Suzuki increased by 29.3% in the month to 98,304 units as against 76,018 units in the same month last year. 
 Propelled by new launches like <keyword id="2453418" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Elite-i20">Elite i20</keyword>, <keyword id="2044743" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Xcent">Xcent</keyword> and the Grand, Hyundai’s sale increased 19.2%. 
 
Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president – sales and marketing, Hyundai Motor India said, "We maintain a cautious optimism for a good festive season on the strength of new products, increase in demand for petrol cars and improving customer sentiments." 
 
Honda Cars India, too, maintained the momentum with an 88% increase in in domestic wholesale dispatches. 
 
Kumar Kandaswami, senior director, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India, said, "The spurt in growth seems to be more on account of the prevailing sentiment rather than on hard economic data, at the moment. There may be a tapering off of demand if the economic parameters remain weak in the coming months."

New Delhi, Jan 29 () Business services provider Quess Corp on Wednesday reported a 11.3 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 71.31 crore for the December 2019 quarter.
It had posted a net profit (attributable to owners of the company) of Rs 64.04 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Quess Corp said in a BSE filing.
Its revenue from operations grew 35.8 per cent at Rs 2,950 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 2,172.15 crore in the year-ago period.
"This quarter saw us continuing to execute our corporate initiatives with significant improvement in business operations and corporate structure," Quess Corp Chairman and Managing Director Ajit Isaac said.
He added that while the company delivered a 36 per cent growth in revenue and 52 per cent rise in EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization), its focus on other key financial parameters in the form of cash generation, debt reduction and interest cost reduction has been robust. 
The company saw strong growth in its staffing business, registering headcount addition of 67,000 associates over the last four quarters. 
"Our facilities management business continued its strong organic growth momentum during the quarter with revenue up 11 per cent year-on-year to Rs 347 crore...Our tech services business reported a strong revenue growth up 19 per cent year-on-year to Rs 544 crore from Rs 456 crore owing to 13 per cent increase in Conneqt and the Allsec acquisition," the filing said. Quess Corp Q3 net up 11.3 pc to Rs 71 cr
