BJP’s <keyword id="244459" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Parag-Shah">Parag Shah</keyword> won the Haryana vidhan sabha elections from the Ghatkopar East consituency with 53319 margin. He is the richest candidate to be contesting <keyword id="13126" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> state elections from the Ghatkopar East assembly. He declared assets worth ₹500.6 crore. His movable assets are worth ₹422 crore and immovable assets are worth ₹78 crore as per an <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/with-rs-500-crore-bjps-parag-shah-is-maharashtras-richest-contestant/articleshow/71450164.cms">affidavit submitted on Friday</a>. The properties are jointly owned by him and his wife. Shah is a real estate developer who owns and manages two construction companies. One of them is MAN InfraConstruction (MICL), a seven-year-old company which builds premium residential properties in Mumbai suburbs. He himself lives in a 5,710-sq ft bungalow in Thane, valued at ₹15 crore. Parag and his wife Mansi own 10 properties, jewellery worth ₹2.6 crore and a Ferrari California worth ₹2.45 crore. They also have shares which are valued at ₹299 crore. According to his IT returns, his annual income for 2018-2019 is at ₹13.7 crore. Whereas, his wife earned ₹11.4 crore during the same time. Shah’s political career began in two years back when he contested Mumbai civic election. Back then, he claimed to have assets worth ₹690 crore.

The centre’s scheme to make people pay taxes for their income under the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=street+food&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Income Declaration Scheme</a> (IDS) is coming up with great results. 
The roadside <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=street+food&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">street vendors </a>in Mumbai selling<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=street+food&amp;sortorder=effectivedate"> vada pav</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=street+food&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">chhole batore</a> have declared Rs 50 crores property and cash. 
 The eatery owners will have to pay tax of Rs 22.5 crore on this previously unaccounted income, people aware of the matter told the <keyword id="6474066" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-times">Economic Times</keyword>. 
 The IT department on tip offs have conducted raids on 200 eateries including a well-known vada pav centre in Thane, a dosa centre in <keyword id="6354719" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ghatkopar">Ghatkopar</keyword>, a sandwich centre in Andheri and a jalebiwallah in south Mumbai. 
 
"The owner of a juice centre in Ghatkopar has declared about Rs 5 crore in cash and property under the IDS. Some other roadside eatery owners too declared Rs 25 lakh-Rs 2 crore, one of the persons, who did not wish to be identified told the ET. 
 About Rs 40,000 crore had been declared under the black money scheme by Thursday evening, the person said. Of this, about Rs 5,000 crore was declared in Mumbai, Thane and <keyword id="219220" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-Mumbai">New Mumbai</keyword>. 
 
"The income tax officials told us that we must declare our assets under IDS or they would come again and raid our shop. We had asked our tax advisor to help us with the problem, one of the the people who declared wealth under IDS told the ET. 
 
A lawyer said declaration of income under the scheme could lead to harassment, the government's assurances to the contrary notwithstanding. 
 "One of my clients wanted to declare about Rs 3.5 crore but I strongly advised against it, as it could lead to harassment in future. His son is about to get married, so I advised the client to hold a grand marriage in <keyword id="6372909" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Turkey">Turkey</keyword> or somewhere and blow away all the money instead, the lawyer, who did not wish to be named, told the financial daily.

Ever since <keyword id="117023" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mumbai-metro">Mumbai Metro</keyword> has been inaugurated, there have been several instances of people not swiping their smart cards or tokens when entering the station or travelling without paying the fare. 
 At crowded places like <keyword id="5490" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Versova">Versova</keyword>, <keyword id="5035" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Andheri">Andheri</keyword> and <keyword id="6354719" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ghatkopar">Ghatkopar</keyword>, there were instances where other commuters crossed the automated fare collection (AFC) gate after one person swiped his card. The same trick can be used when passing out of the AFC gate. 
 
But if you are not so lucky and get caught travelling without a ticket, you will have to pay a penalty, along with the stipulated fare. The penalty amounts to Rs 50 for the Mumbai Metro and Rs 200 for the monorail – a paltry sum in both cases. 
 
The Mumbai Metro did not have the number of people who had been charged for travelling without tickets or for violating rules.

During ,2014 Assembly elections, the total number of candidates was lower (2,336) but around half of them were 1,095 crorepatis. Bharatiya Janata Party has given tickets to more such. As 96% of its analysed candidates are crorepatis. Meanwhile, 86% of the Indian National Congress’ analysed candidates too hold the same status. From Shiv Sena’s analysed candidates, 94% are crorepatis, while NCP and MNS have 87% and 53% respectively. The average assets per candidate stood at ₹4.21 crore. Bharatiya Mahila Bank (<keyword id="423104" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BMB">BMB</keyword>), the first all-women bank that was set up by the <keyword id="6355364" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="UPA">UPA</keyword> government last year, has set tough targets for itself in the coming year i.e. 2014-15. The bank, which recently completed a year, now aims to grow its deposit base in the country and collect Rs 1,000 crore by the end of FY 2014-15. 
 BMB's Chairperson and Managing Director <keyword id="1176324" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Usha-Ananthasubramanian">Usha Ananthasubramanian</keyword> shared this information while talking to reporters on the opening ceremony of the bank’s 35th branch in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. She said, "As of today our total business is at Rs 825 crore. For this year, we are aiming advances of Rs 800 crore and deposits at Rs 1,000 crore." 
 
According to Ananthasubramanian, the BMB banks will soon open their branches in tier II and tier III cities. "We are also planning to roll out 50 offsite ATMs across the country by the end of this year," she said.

A resident who spoke to The <keyword id="6474066" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-times">Economic Times</keyword> said, “I've been staying here from 1967. Why is it that they have suddenly found my building to be an obstacle?" "Where can we go? Is it possible for us to buy a new flat at our age? Can our old buildings withstand demolition by 3m to 6m? If they collapse after demolition who will bear the responsibility?" asked a senior citizen to the news reporter. The new buildings in the area are taller and it won’t be easy to reduce the height. Moreover people residing in these areas are often with one property and have nowhere else to go. At this juncture, demolition of buildings would raise moral questions as well. The residents who are protesting against government’s move said, there are flaws in DGCA’s order. According to them they haven’t received any communication for last 30 years and many of the smaller houses have NOCs from the then authority. Now suddenly the order to demolish heights of buildings in two months would create a lot of fuss.

Likewise, eight more diksharthis are going to take diksha and they credit monk Pujya Namramuni Maharaj Saheb for enlightening their inner souls. 
 However, it is not that easy to become a <keyword id="536435" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jain-monk">Jain monk</keyword>. Once the Maharaj is convinced that the person can lead the life with dedication, then only they can become a monk. 
 
"My life was full of materialistic things-going for movies, shopping and meeting friends. One day I happened to accidentally listen to an audio CD of Gurudev and since then began to question myself and what my life was about. Then came a day when I made up my mind to give up everything," Ghatkopar's Pooja Vegda, 35, a doctor who has offered skin treatment to several celebrities, told TOI.
