 "The evacuation operation from Yemen is over. General <keyword id="456401" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="V-K-singh">V.K.Singh</keyword> is returning tonight. We are closing our Embassy there," Sushma said on Twitter.
 The <keyword id="6374106" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ministry-of-External-Affairs">Ministry of External Affairs</keyword> had earlier confirmed the rescue of over 630 people from Sana'a in Yemen by three special <keyword id="2573" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Air-India">Air India</keyword> flights, concluding India's air evacuation process.

	The total number of Indians evacuated from Sana'a by air has crossed 2,900 by 18 special flights since the beginning of the air operations.

	Indian naval vessels have also evacuated over 1,670 Indians from Aden, Al Hudaydah and Al Mukalla ports in Yemen since March 31.

	Indian Naval Ship INS Sumitra evacuated 349 persons, including 46 Indians and 303 foreign nationals from Al Hudaydah port on April 9.

	The entire evacuation effort has resulted in the evacuation of over 5600 persons. These include over 4,640 Indian nationals and about 960 foreign nationals from 41 countries.

<ul><li>A day after the <keyword id="70191" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="International-Court-of-Justice">International Court of Justice</keyword> (ICJ) delivered its verdict in Kulbhushan Jadhav case, India today asked Pakistan for Jadhav’s immediate return. </li><li>Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, while speaking in the Parliament today said the government will put all efforts to bring Jadhav back to India. </li><li>The ICJ had yesterday announced that its Pakistan’s obligation to inform Jadhav his rights and allow India to provide counselor access to him. </li></ul>After the final verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case yesterday, India today asked Pakistan to immediately release him and vowed to bring the retired Navy officer back. Yesterday, The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had in its final verdict directed Pakistan to suspend the death penalty on Jadhav given in 2017 for charges of sabotage and espionage. He will also be provided consular access which was denied by Pakistan. “Pakistan was found to have deprived India of the right to communicate with Jadhav, have access to him, visit him in detention, and arrange his legal representation,” S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs (MEA), said speaking at both the houses of Parliament. Jadhav, the 47-year old retired <keyword id="6355100" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Navy">Indian Navy</keyword> officer was apprehended by Pakistan security forces in <keyword id="45793" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Balochistan">Balochistan</keyword> province of Pakistan. He was charged with espionage, three years back. In April 2017, he was sentenced to death on charges of espionage and terrorism. “Kulbhushan Jadhav is innocent of the charges made against him. His forced confession, without legal representation and due process will not change this reality,” Jaishankar further said. “We once again call Pakistan to release and repatriate him forthwith,” the minister said. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had yesterday unanimously delivered the judgement that Jadhav must be given judicial representation, by a vote of 15-1. The judgement was welcomed across party lines and all thumped the benches as Jaishankar said that the government will vigorously continue its efforts to ensure his safety and well being, and his timely return to India. The ICJ clearly pronounced that the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations was breached by Pakistan as it did not notify India of Jadhav’s detention in time and deprived India of its right to communicate with and provide consular access to Jadhav. It is to be noted that the Court has asked Pakistan to provide for appropriate reparation of its own choice in the case. The minister termed the ICJ verdict as a vindication for not only India and Jadhav but also for all those who believe in the rule of law and respect and work by the international treaties.

He also rejected any impression that few leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the government were siding with corrupt people. "There is no question at all,” he said. 
 
Meanwhile, the opposition parties are planning to disrupt the Monsoon Session of Parliament on the Lalit Modi issue. However, Jaitley said Parliament was meant to discuss and not to disrupt business. 
 
"We are willing to have a discussion on any subject that the Opposition wants," he told the news agency. 
 
The Monsoon Session will begin on July 21.

Jaitley rules out going on back foot on Lalit Modi issue, defends government

The two nations decided to add two new pillars, 'Advanced Manufacturing and Connectivity' for further strengthening bilateral cooperation. Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister <keyword id="19895367" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="piyush-goyal" source="keywords">Piyush Goyal</keyword> and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw represented the Indian side in Singapore. They deliberated on ideas to expand bilateral cooperation and decided to add two new pillars, Advanced Manufacturing and Connectivity for further strengthening bilateral cooperation. The Ministers agreed to hold the next round of ISMR in India at a mutually convenient time. During their visit, the Indian Ministers also called on Singapore President, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. "India and Singapore are important partners of each other. The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to further strengthen their multifaceted partnership," MEA added. Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has called the India-Singapore Ministerial Dialogue an important platform for strengthening bilateral ties. Modi Allocates Portfolios To Ministers

New Delhi, <keyword id="19895159" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="russia" source="keywords">Russia</keyword> is a power with an enormous tradition of statecraft and it is turning more towards Asia or non-West parts of the world, External Affairs Minister <keyword id="19922782" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="s-jaishankar" source="keywords">S Jaishankar</keyword> said on Friday, delving into current geopolitical developments and their fall-outs. In an interactive session at the Raisina Dialogue, <keyword id="19920247" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="jaishankar" source="keywords">Jaishankar</keyword>, replying to a question on Moscow's growing proximity with Beijing, said it makes sense to give Russia multiple options and that railroading it into a single option and criticising it for that would be like a self-fulfilling prophecy. "I think it makes sense to give Russia multiple options. If we railroad Russia into a single option and say that's really bad because that's the outcome, then you are making it a self-fulfilling prophecy," he said. "Today it is important for other countries, especially in Asia to engage Russia," Jaishankar said. "Russia is a power with an enormous tradition of statecraft. Such powers would never put themselves into a single relationship of an overwhelming nature. It would go against their grain," he said. The external affairs minister was asked to comment on intensification of ties between Russia and China and whether <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india" source="keywords">India</keyword> was uncomfortable with it. "What's happened today with Russia essentially is that a lot of doors have been shut to Russia and the West. We know the reasons why. Russia is turning more to Asia or to parts of the world which are not West," he said. The external affairs minister suggested that policies of the West are bringing Russia and China closer. "It's kind of funny -- on the one hand you have people who set policies (and) bring the two together and then you say beware of them coming together," he said. The question was asked by <keyword id="20700294" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="michael-fullilove" source="keywords">Michael Fullilove</keyword>, Executive Director of Lowy Institute, Australia. Jaishankar's comments came days after he said India has had a "stable" and "very friendly" relationship with Russia, and that Moscow never hurt New Delhi's interests. The ties between India and Russia remained strong notwithstanding Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. India's import of Russian crude oil has gone up significantly despite increasing disquiet over it in many Western countries. India has not yet condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and it has been maintaining that the crisis must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. In his remarks, Jaishankar also highlighted India's G20 presidency and how it ensured induction of the African Union as a permanent member of the grouping. He noted that if the G20 could be expanded, the permanent membership of the UN Security Council can also be increased. "When the sort of smoke clears and people look back on this G20, it will surely be recognised for the fact that the African Union's membership was agreed upon," he said. The external affairs minister also highlighted India's foreign policy priorities including combating terrorism and attempting to ensure inclusive global welfare. It could be millets, it could be yoga, it could be solar energy, it could be combating terrorism, it could be black money. You today see an India, which is really pushing and trying to get itself and its ideas on the global stage, he said.

Russia is a power with enormous tradition of statecraft: Jaishankar

India and <keyword id="1334" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China">China</keyword> have agreed on a five-point plan for resolving the prolonged border face-off in eastern Ladakh that included abiding by all existing agreements and protocol on management of the frontier, maintaining peace and tranquility and avoiding any action that could escalate matters. The two countries agreed to the plan during talks between <keyword id="5263" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="External-Affairs-Minister">External Affairs Minister</keyword> S <keyword id="236448" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jaishankar">Jaishankar</keyword> and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Moscow on Thursday evening on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet. The Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA) have been locked in a tense standoff in multiple areas along the Line of Actual Control(LAC) in eastern Ladakh since early May. The Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) issued a joint press statement early on Friday featuring five points which were agreed by both the sides at the "frank and constructive" discussions by the two ministers. "The two foreign ministers agreed that the current situation in the border areas is not in the interest of either side. They agreed, therefore, that the border troops of both sides should continue their dialogue, quickly disengage, maintain proper distance and ease tensions," it said. The joint statement said Jaishankar and Wang agreed that both sides should take guidance from the series of consensus reached between leaders of the two countries on developing India-China relations, including not allowing differences to become disputes. This assessment was a clear reference to decisions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at their two informal summits in 2018 and 2019. "The two ministers agreed that both sides shall abide by all the existing agreements and protocol on China-India boundary affairs, maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas and avoid any action that could escalate matters," the joint statement said. At the talks, Jaishankar and Wang agreed that as the situation eases on the border, the two sides should expedite work to conclude new confidence building measures to maintain and enhance peace and tranquility in the border areas. The joint statement said the two sides also agreed to continue to have dialogue and communication through the Special Representative(SR) mechanism on the India-China boundary question. "They also agreed in this context that the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China border affairs (WMCC) should also continue at its meetings," it added.

<ul><li>India has invited leaders of <keyword id="6391789" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bimstec">BIMSTEC</keyword> for the swearing-in ceremony of PM <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> </li><li>India is reportedly not going to invite <keyword id="14676" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Imran-Khan">Imran Khan</keyword> in the swearing-in ceremony </li><li>The invites were sent keeping in mind the government’s plan to focus on 'neighbourhood first' policy, said Ministry of External Affairs </li></ul>India has invited leaders of BIMSTEC (The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) member states for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his second term on 30 May. However, India is reportedly not going to invite Imran Khan in the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi. Recently both PM Narendra Modi and Imran Khan had a telephonic conversation after the victory of BJP in India where they talked about creating trust and an environment free of terrorism were a must to foster peace and prosperity in the region. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that the <a href="https://www.firstpost.com/india/kyrgyz-president-mauritius-pm-bimstec-leaders-invited-for-narendra-modis-swearing-in-ceremony-says-mea-6710821.html">government has also invited</a> Kyrgyzstan president Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth to the ceremony. In addition, Sri Lankan president Maihtr Maithripala Sirisena, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli are reportedly going to attend the ceremony. Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid is also likely to attend the ceremony. However, Myanmar state counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi is yet to make a decision. The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, current Chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the Prime Minister of Mauritius -- the Chief Guest at this year's Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, had also been invited, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar said here on Monday. The members of Bimstec (The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) are Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan, which are among the countries dependent on the Bay of Bengal. The invites were sent keeping in mind the government’s plan to focus on 'neighbourhood first' policy, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar.
