The company is looking forward to increasing its workforce from 200 employees to 500 employees by the end of this year. The five-year old startup, backed by SoftBank, which currently employs 80-100 people in India, uses <keyword id="107950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="artificial-intelligence" source="Orion">artificial intelligence</keyword> (AI) to filter thousands of resumes and help its client recruiters to find suitable candidates. The company currently serves more than 100 clients including Dolby, Tata Communications, NetApp, Booking.com, TriNet. In an exclusive interview at the Future of Work event hosted by Business Insider, founder and chief executive of Eightfold.ai, Ashutosh Garg said, “We are growing from 200 people to 500 people this year. We plan to hire 300 people across the globe by December.” When asked about the vision of the company during the interview, Garg said, “HR market is a $50 billion industry whereas finding the right talent is a trillion dollar problem. Citing the example of Amazon news story published by <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-amazon-com-jobs-automation-insight-idUSKCN1MK08G">Reuters</a> in 2018 that the company secretly scrapped its AI recruiting tool because it was biased against women, Garg said, “The simple trick to reduce biases is to apply right algorithms and by learning about the skills and capabilities from a global data or perspective, we can mitigate the problem.” Garg also clarified about one of the biggest fears many people have that ‘AI is a threat to entry level jobs’. Amid a decline in Covid cases in the country, <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="Orion">India</keyword> may soon reopen its doors for <keyword id="6368574" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-tourists" source="Orion">foreign tourists</keyword> for the first time in one-and-a-half years, officials said. First five lakh foreign tourists will be issued visas free of cost, in an attempt to revive the tourism, hospitality and <keyword id="1020326" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aviation-sectors" source="Orion">aviation sectors</keyword>, badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020 when a nationwide lockdown was announced. Top <keyword id="65242" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Home-Ministry" source="Orion">Union Home Ministry</keyword> officials are deliberating with all stakeholders on the expected date and modalities for opening up of the country for foreign tourists. A formal announcement allowing foreign tourists to visit India may come within the next 10 days, an official from the Home Ministry said. The decision is being taken in view of the declining number of <keyword id="8785701" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="COVID-19-cases" source="Orion">COVID-19 cases</keyword> in the country. On Sunday, 30,773 new cases were reported while active cases had come down to 3.32 lakh. India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has also crossed 80 crore as on Saturday. The free visa to the tourists will be issued till March 31, 2022 or the issuance of five lakh visa, whichever is earlier. The total financial implication for this would be Rs 100 crore. The free visa move is expected to incentivise short-term tourists visiting India, the official said. The cost for a month-long e-tourist visa is country specific but is around USD 25. A year-long multiple entry e-tourists visa charge is around USD 40. The e-tourist visa has been suspended since March 2020. The Home Ministry officials said they are still deliberating whether the entry of foreign tourists will be allowed with certain conditions like limiting it to only vaccinated travellers for now and having a negative list of countries where COVID-19 cases remain a concern. The opening up is also expected to be phase-wise to see the response and implications, another official said. Many countries, including some of those in Europe, have already opened up for tourism. In a conversation with Business Insider during its Future of Work event, Screwvala noted that the world is in the fourth era of industrial revolution and many things are bound to change. According to Garg, AI is not developed enough to be at that stage, however it has the potential of getting there in the future. Again, some jobs may have to work in alignment with this deeptech technology. “I can put it on autopilot and be feasibly comfortable. So things are improving a lot. Now let's take sales as an example. I'm trying to hire a salesperson, I will start evaluating this person based on their emotional touch. Are they going to be able to close the deal or not, can they negotiate with the buyer or not?” he noted. According to a PwC <a href="https://www.pwc.com/hu/hu/kiadvanyok/assets/pdf/impact_of_automation_on_jobs.pdf">report </a>which estimates that 40% of jobs can be automated in the next 15 years, digital and softer skills are going to be the demand of the new age businesses. In 2017, <a href="https://www.deakinco.com/uploads/Whitepaper/deloitte-au-economics-deakin-soft-skills-business-success-170517.pdf">Deloitte</a> also reported that "soft skill-intensive occupations will account for two-thirds of all jobs by 2030." According to a<a href="https://www.muchskills.com/blog/soft-skills-skills-of-the-future"> blogpost </a>by Sweden-based HR-tech platform MuchSkills, the new age technologies — like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) or robotics — can automate a number of human tasks, they will not be able to replicate emotional, social and cognitive skills imbibed by humans. “Between 1980 and 2012, jobs requiring high levels of social interaction grew by nearly 12 percentage points as a share of the US labour force. Math-intensive but less social jobs – including many STEM occupations – shrank by 3.3 percentage points over the same period,” wrote David J Deming in a paper titled<a href="https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/ddeming/files/deming_socialskills_may2017_final.pdf"> The Growing Importance Of Social Skills In The Labor Market</a>.
