According to McGraw, most research on DBT for eating disorders has specifically focused on the treatment of <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/diet-nutrition/binge-eating-disorder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">binge eating disorder</a> and <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/do-i-have-bulimia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bulimia nervosa</a>. But a <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/260305850_Effectiveness_of_Dialectical_Behavior_Therapy_for_Treating_Eating_Disorders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2014 review</a> found that DBT can also help reduce behaviors related to <a href="https://www.insider.com/brain-images-show-what-anorexia-does-to-brain-study-2022-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">anorexia nervosa</a>, like severe food restriction, dieting, and over-exercising.<h3>Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)</h3>McGraw says DBT can teach strategies for coping with PTSD like staying grounded, regulating emotions, and tolerating distress in triggering situations. Research on this potential benefit remains limited, but a <a href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/jpm.12797#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2021 review</a> suggests DBT treatment can significantly improve depression in people with BPD. This effect was particularly significant when treatment lasted longer than four months.Note: According to Milhoan, DBT can translate well to online treatment. In fact, a <a href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/inm.12976">2022 review</a> suggests virtual DBT is just as effective as face-to-face DBT.<h2>Core DBT skills</h2>DBT builds on CBT by incorporating elements of validation and <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/mindfulness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mindfulness</a>. But whereas CBT <a href="https://hside.org/dbt-vs-cbt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">focuses primarily on changing negative thought patterns</a>, DBT focuses on coping with and regulating extreme emotions to change your behavior and improve your relationships.Another key component of DBT lies in coming to terms with the fact that two seemingly opposing ideas can be simultaneously true. Therapy typically involves three main elements:<ul><li>Individual psychotherapy sessions: In these weekly, hour-long sessions, you'll work with your therapist on whatever symptoms you're trying to manage, and your therapist will help you navigate specific challenges.</li><li>Group skills training sessions: In these weekly group therapy sessions, which last two to three hours, you'll learn how to practice the new behavioral skills you've identified in individual therapy by talking through imaginary or real-life scenarios with others.</li><li>Additional phone coaching (as needed): <a href="https://www.drkerwin.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Lauren Kerwin</a>, a licensed psychologist in private practice, says your therapist may encourage you to call them when you have the urge to self-harm or feel particularly overwhelmed by your emotions, so they can guide you through using your DBT skills to cope. </li></ul>Kerwin says DBT always prioritizes the highest-risk behaviors first — for example, you would address behaviors pertaining to self-injury before a tendency to self-isolate.One of the most common tools used in DBT is "<a href="https://depts.washington.edu/uwbrtc/wp-content/uploads/NIMH4-S-DBT-Diary-Cards-with-Instructions.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">diary cards</a>," designed to help you track your daily thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in between sessions. These can be completed on paper, or digitally in an app. One section contains space for you to rate your urges to use destructive behaviors — like self-harm or substance use — while the other contains a list of DBT skills for you to check off as you practice them.According to <a href="https://www.pdbti.org/people/andrew-white/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Andrew White</a>, a licensed clinical psychologist and co-owner of the <a href="https://www.pdbti.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Portland DBT Institute</a>, DBT therapists review the contents of these diary cards during your sessions so you can begin to understand why you engaged in destructive behaviors — including the thoughts and feelings that led to them — and what you can do instead next time. For example, if you started cutting after a triggering conversation with friends, your therapist might suggest alternative behaviors like changing the subject or leaving the table to do some deep breathing exercises.<h2>How to find a therapist</h2>Linehan founded the <a href="https://dbt-lbc.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DBT Board of Certification</a>, and you can use that program's <a href="https://dbt-lbc.org/index.php?page=101163" target="_blank" rel="noopener">search engine</a> to find someone certified in your area.<a href="https://www.betterhelp.com/counselors/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BetterHelp</a>, <a href="https://www.goodtherapy.org/find-therapist.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GoodTherapy</a>, and <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Psychology Today</a> all offer searchable databases, where you can filter specifically for local therapists who offer DBT.Kerwin also suggests using Behavior Tech's <a href="https://behavioraltech.org/resources/find-a-therapist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Find A Therapist</a> tool to find mental health professionals who have been trained at the Linehan-founded DBT Institute.<h2>Limitations</h2>One of the main limitations of DBT, according to Milhoan, is there aren't always enough therapists trained in this modality to meet the high demand for this treatment. That means you may spend some time on a waitlist. Also, not all insurance plans cover comprehensive DBT treatment with skills training groups. Kerwin says DBT may also require too much of a time commitment for some people, like parents without child care or those with a busy work schedule. That's because DBT often involves three or more hours of therapy a week between individual and group sessions, plus filling out diary cards in between.DBT may not be effective as a standalone treatment for psychosis, because delusions and <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/hallucinations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hallucinations</a> make it difficult to put your own thoughts and emotions into perspective. However, a small <a href="https://bpspsychub.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/bjc.12359" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2022 study</a> suggests DBT may help reduce some symptoms of psychosis, like <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/paranoid-personality-disorder" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paranoia</a>.Important: One component of DBT is learning to recognize when your feelings don't "fit the facts" — which may feel invalidating if you're still processing traumatic experiences. New Delhi, Apr 19 () More than Rs 36,659 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 16.01 crore beneficiaries using direct benefit transfer (DBT) between March 24 and April 17 during the lockdown, the finance ministry said on Sunday. The cash amount has been transferred by using Controller General of Accounts' (CGA) digital payments technology Public Financial Management System (PFMS) under Central Schemes (CS) and Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). DBT ensures that the cash benefit is directly credited into the account of the beneficiary, eliminates leakage and improves efficiency. "More than Rs 36,659 crore has been transferred by using Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) in the bank accounts of 16.01 crore beneficiaries by the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) office during COVID-19 lockdown," the ministry said in a statement. Of the Rs 36,659 crore, Rs 27,442 crore has been transferred under CSS and CS and Rs 9,717 by various state governments for its welfare schemes. Between March 24 and April 17, the DBT payments under all the central sector/centrally sponsored schemes through PFMS amounted to Rs 27,442.08 crore in the accounts of 11.42 crore beneficiaries through schemes like PM-KISAN, Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), National Social Assistance Program (NSAP), Prime Minster's Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), National Health Mission (NHM), scholarship schemes of various ministries through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Besides, states like UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Maharashtra, Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh have used DBT to transfer cash in the bank accounts. Through 180 welfare schemes, the state governments using PFMS have disbursed to 4.59 crore beneficiaries, an amount of Rs 9,217.22 crore between March 24 and April 17. Apart from above mentioned schemes, payments were also made under the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, Rs 500 was credited in the women account holder of Jan Dhan accounts. Till April 13, the total number of women beneficiaries stood at 19.86 crore, which resulted in disbursement of Rs 9,930 crore. A total of Rs 17,733 crore has been paid under PM-KISAN to 8.43 crore beneficiaries, while Rs 5,406 crore has been disbursed under MGNREGA to over 1.55 crore bank accounts. The ministry said PFMS usage for DBT payments increased over last three financial years with total amount disbursed through DBT increasing from 22 per cent in 2018-19 to 45 per cent in 2019-20. With effect from April 1, 2015, the finance ministry had made it mandatory to use PFMS for payment, accounting and reporting under DBT and directed all implementing ministries or departments to ensure that no payments under DBT schemes were processed unless the electronic payment files for such payments were received through PFMS. Rs 36,659 cr transferred to 16 cr beneficiaries using DBT during COVID-19 lockdown

New Delhi, Apr 16 () The finance ministry on Thursday clarified that financial assistance to people hit by the Covid-19 crisis will be provided only through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism and no other means. The clarification came amid various rumours doing the rounds on financial assistance by the government. "India has JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, Mobile) based DBT mechanism for diff. schemes. Successfully deposited Rs. 28,256 Cr. to 31.77 Cr. beneficiaries bank a/cs under Covid relief. DBT is fulcrum for targeted delivery of such measures. Pls don't believe any outlandish rumours!," the Department of Financial Services said in a tweet. There have been various rumours since the government announced the Rs 1.70 lakh crore Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalayan Yojana to help the poor withstand the hardship caused by the coronavirus lockdown. Earlier this week, there was a rumour on social media that money transferred to women's Jan Dhan accounts will be taken back if the beneficiary does not withdraw immediately from the account. This led to serpentine queues outside bank branches as worried women scrambled to claim the amount, thus putting social distancing measures in jeopardy. Covid-19: Govt to transfer financial assistance only through DBT mechanism

New Delhi, Nov 30 () Fertiliser industry body FAI has expressed concern over delay in payment of subsidy arrear that has reached Rs 33,691 crore and is estimated to reach Rs 60,000 crore by the end of this fiscal.
The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) Director General Satish Chander demanded that the government should clear subsidy arrears at the earliest as delay in payments is hurting liquidity of manufacturers.
The government fixes the maximum retail price of urea and it reimburses manufacturers the differences between the MRP and production cost. The Centre also provides nutrient based subsidy (NBS) on non-urea fertilizers.
As per the information provided by 25 fertilizer companies, FAI said, a total of Rs 33,691 crore dues are pending as on November 1, 2019.
Out of this, Rs 20,853 crore is under DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) and balance Rs 12,838 crore is other than DBT.
It also pointed out that Rs 20,434 crore dues are pending for which bills have been generated but not paid and the balance Rs 13,257 crore are pending for which fertilizer companies are not able to generate bills.
"Fertiliser subsidy arrear is likely to touch Rs 60,000 crore by March, if additional fund is not provided to the ministry through supplementary grant," Chander said.
The outstanding was Rs 39,000 crore at the beginning of 2019-20 financial year, he added.
FAI said that implementation of DBT assured weekly payment of subsidy. 
"However, this assurance is not kept due to persistent budget constraints," it said in a statement.
Implementation of DBT has postponed subsidy payment by another 6 months because now it is linked to the sale of fertilizers through POS (point of sale) machines.
Earlier, subsidy used to be paid to manufacturers on receipt of material in the district.
"This has increased working capital requirement and interest cost," FAI said.
The government has allocated nearly Rs 80,000 crore to meet fertiliser subsidy, of which around Rs 56,000 crore pertained to urea and remaining about Rs 26,000 crore for nutrient based subsidy for non-urea nutrients. MJH BAL

Around 92% of the state’s farmers - from sharecroppers to large-holding farmers - are eligible, according to the state government. While the scheme is unconditional, which means a beneficiary’s land holdings has no bearing on his/her eligibility, landless households will be given special privileges under the programme such as payments of ₹12,500 for poultry farming and goat rearing, for instance. Electronic transfers would mean that only farmers with bank accounts -- or those with access to any other formal institutions -- will enjoy the benefit of the cash transfer scheme. The proportion of households where at least one member was reported to have saved any money with a formal institution in the state of Odisha <a href="https://www.nabard.org/auth/writereaddata/tender/1608180417NABARD-Repo-16_Web_P.pdf">was 71% in 2016-17</a>, according to a survey by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The JAM trinity — Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and mobile payments — has eased the validation of beneficiaries and the process for releasing funds, according to Economic Survey 2018-19. Wages directly to the people Since it’s induction in 2005, the programme was riddled with issues. But, applying Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Aadhaar-linked Payments (ALP), the Indian government has been striving to reduce delays in the payment of wages, curb corruption and political interference, and plug up any leakages in the system. As a workforce programme, MGNREGA’s mandate is to alleviate distress and ensure payments happen in a timely manner. Before DBT, wages were transferred into panchayat bank accounts and most of the workers had to collect their wages from the gram panchayat office. And, in order for DBT to work — the workers needed bank accounts. That’s when the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was implemented to bring about universal access to banking facilities. The Economic Survey 2018-19 highlights that before the implementation of ALP and DBT, there used to be an average lag of 90 days before wage payments for recieved. After their implementation, that lag has been cut down one-third from 35% to less than 10%. Culling out the ‘ghosts’ in the system Bringing in <keyword id="7829443" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="aadhaar-linked-payments">Aadhaar linked payments</keyword> ensured that the government would not be funding any ‘ghost’ beneficiaries. The National Electronic Fund Management System (NeFMS), implemented in 2016 and currently functional in 24 states, bolsters that effort by providing a real time database of wages being credited into bank or post office accounts by the central government. NREGAsoft, a local language workflow based e-governance system, looks at registration and muster rolls, a form of attendance register signed by workers to check false reporting of numbers. The service isn’t available to the public but does make it easier for the government to keep track of who is employed under the scheme and whether they are actually showing up for work. Going forward, the government wants to expand the number of jobs available to workers under the scheme, upskill the workers it has enlisted, expand the use of JAM, and use digital infrastructure to expand MGNERA beyond wages to also offer micro-insurance, micro-pensions and micro-credit to the underserved sections of society.

New Delhi, Apr 15 () Issuing fresh guidelines for the second phase of the lockdown, which will be in effect till May 3, the government on Wednesday said important financial services like banking and insurance will continue to function during the period to help people meet their financial needs.These activities were also allowed during the first phase of a 21-day nationwide lockdown which ended on Tuesday."The important components of the financial sector, e.g., RBI, banks, ATMs, capital and debt markets as notified by SEBI and insurance companies will also remain functional, with a view to provide enough liquidity and credit support to the industrial sectors," the consolidated revised guidelines issued by the Home Ministry said.As per the revised guidelines, IT vendors for banking operations, banking correspondents, ATM operations and cash management agencies will also be functional.Bank branches are allowed to work as per normal working hours till disbursal of DBT cash transfers are complete, it said, adding, local administration is to provide adequate security personnel at bank branches and for banking correspondents to maintain social distancing and staggering of account holders.Direct Benefit Transfer(DBT) to the poor and vulnerable section of society, hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak and the consequent lockdown, is providing financial support for sustaining during these difficult times.It further said the digital economy is critical to the services sector and is important for national growth. Accordingly, e-commerce operations, operations of IT and IT enabled services, data and call centres for government activities, and online teaching and distance learning are all permitted activities now.The revised consolidated guidelines are aimed at operating those sectors of the economy which are critical from the perspective of rural and agricultural development and job creation, while maintaining strict protocols in areas where safety is paramount to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country, it added.  Presenting the Union Budget for 2020-21, she said growth of 7.4 per cent was surpassed in 2014-19 with average inflation of 4.5 per cent.

As per current estimates, every year, approximately 1.25 lakh women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and over 75,000 die from the disease in India, and 83 per cent of invasive cervical cancers are attributed to HPVs 16 or 18 in India, and 70 per cent of cases worldwide. Announcing the scientific completion of the quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus (qHPV) vaccine in presence of Adar C. Poonawalla, CEO, <keyword id="95879" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="serum-institute-of-india" source="Orion">Serum Institute of India</keyword> and other prominent scientists and dignitaries, Union Science &amp; Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said that this affordable and cost-effective vaccine marks an important day for the DBT and the BIRAC as it takes India a step closer to PM Narendra Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. But if you find yourself frequently blowing up, there might be more going on than being "hot-headed." It could be that you're dealing with emotional dysregulation. Broadly speaking, emotional dysregulation is "great difficulty with or an inability to gain control over intense feelings," <a target="_blank" href="http://www.drcarlamessenger.com/">Dr. Carla M. Shuman</a>, a clinical psychologist, told Insider. She said it's a key trait in common psychiatric and developmental disorders like <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/symptoms-of-adhd-time-to-see-psychologist-2023-9">attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder </a>(ADHD), autism, and<a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/women-misdiagnosed-with-bpd-have-autism-difference-2023-9"> borderline personality disorder </a>(<keyword id="172783" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bpd" source="Orion">BPD</keyword>). While ADHD, BPD, and autism are different diagnoses, <keyword id="18943544" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="shuman" source="Orion">Shuman</keyword> said, they all impact an area of the brain called the prefrontal cortex, which controls our impulses and emotions. Shuman and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.addisagift.com/">Dr. Lara Honos-Webb</a>, a clinical psychologist, shared five of the most common signs of emotional dysregulation. <h2>1. Your reactions feel disproportionate to the trigger</h2>While it's healthy to experience and express anger and frustration, Shuman said that what makes emotional dysregulation different is "the person's reaction is way more intense than the situation calls for." For example, if someone cuts you in line, it's understandable to be agitated or to call the person out. But if you're emotionally dysregulated, Shuman said you might start screaming or cursing them out — even after the person already left. <h2>2. It takes you a while to calm down</h2>When you're emotionally dysregulated negative feelings linger, and you don't quickly bounce back from a racing heartbeat or spinning thoughts. For someone who struggles with emotional dysregulation,getting back to a baseline state "can take away a lot of time from their day," Shuman said. Obviously, there's no universal, agreed-upon time to get over an annoyance. But if you find yourself frequently being swept up in your moods, to the point where they distract you from your work, social life, or responsibilities, emotional dysregulation might be to blame. <h2>3. Your reactions damage your relationships</h2>Besides disrupting your own life, emotional dysregulation can seriously wreck or impair your relationships. Shuman said that people around an emotionally dysregulated person often feel like "they're walking on eggshells because they never know when the person is going to go off." This dynamic often leads to issues at work, fractured family relationships, distant friendships, and breakups. <h2>4. You're frequently embarrassed by your actions</h2>Shuman said that even though "they may try to justify their behavior," emotionally dysregulated people almost always feel embarrassed, ashamed, or remorseful after a blow-up. A big clue is if you find yourself often wondering why you reacted the way you did or worrying how others perceive you now that things have settled. <h2>5. You avoid things because you're scared of how you'll react</h2>Emotional dysregulation isn't always defined by yelling. In fact, Shuman said, "avoidance is a huge part of trying to prevent dysregulation." This might include dodging situations where you worry you might lose emotional control. Honos-Webb said that this "fear and self-doubt can lead a person to avoid social interactions," such as dating. She added that it can also lead to a cycle of withdrawing from others, which leads to feeling left out. Eventually, this can increase your <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/what-is-rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-2023-7">sensitivity to perceived rejection</a>, which can prompt more emotional dysregulation. Shuman said that treatment for emotional dysregulation often involves prescribed medication which can help make it easier to adapt coping strategies. Specialized therapies, like <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/dialectical-behavior-therapy">dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)</a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/cognitive-behavioral-therapy">cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)</a>, and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/emotion-focused-therapy">emotion-focused therapy (EFT</a>) can also be helpful, according to Shuman and Honos-Webb.

A number of power companies such as Jindal India Thermal Power and Lanco Anpara are expected to be referred to insolvency courts following the expiry of a deadline for the resolution of ₹1.7 trillion worth of bad loans from the sector. This is roughly 20% of all the bad loans on the balance sheets of India’s banks. Recognising the problems that are unique to the power sector - like a liquidity crunch and a dearth of power-purchase agreements - and the need to ensure these coal-fuelled projects don’t undergo liquidation, the Indian government is planning to establish <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Industry/H2ttLugifLjwv91QYdnPFM/REC-to-seek-central-banks-nod-for-Pariwartan-ARC.html">an asset reconstruction company</a> (ARC) to resolve stressed power assets. Under its Pariwartan scheme, the state-owned Rural Electrification Corp will set up the ARC to clean up the sector in anticipation of a future revival in demand. Bigger reforms in the works However, the power sector’s problems go well beyond bad loans. While the resolution of bad loans is an urgent priority, the Indian government is also planning to implement a series of reforms to ensure the long-term viability of the sector and its participants. A number of amendments to the Electricity Act of 2003 are in the works. First, the government is looking to establish a direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme for the targeted distribution of subsidies. The reason power producers and distribution companies are racking up so much debt is because state governments aren’t being able to allocate subsidies to consumers efficiently. A DBT will see the subsidy amount deposited in the bank account of a consumer. Second, the government is also looking to mandate the separation of production and supply operations of power companies, which means that power producers will not supply the electricity they generate. This reduces the complexity of operations and also gives consumers greater choice. Third, it also plans to exempt <keyword id="34553" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="renewable-energy">renewable energy</keyword> producers from licensing requirements in order to encourage thermal power generators to diversify their operations. Finally, payments security protocols are being devised for agreements between producers and distributors to prevent non-payment of dues. The reforms will be a much-needed step. In order to prevent any future pile-up in bad loans, the government needs to improve the supporting <keyword id="17408" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="infrastructure">infrastructure</keyword> and legislation for the power sector so that projects are capable of generating revenue.
