A Greyhound Research study, Emerging Markets CMO Priorities 2016, confirms that over 72% CMOs in APJ stated leveraging digital marketing for customer engagement as their top priority. Further, while marketing teams show a solid understanding of customer spend patterns, only 4 of 10 spend time and budget to map the changing technology ownership.

They Must Use User Adoption Metrics. Mostly, metrics used by the CFO’s office work on assumptions of the entire user base. Per a Greyhound Research study, Emerging Markets CFO Priorities 2016, 72% CFOs in APJ are keen to reduce technology expenses and explore new Systems like Cloud to better manage cost structures. 
 
Greyhound Research believes the CFO’s office must work on metrics that allow them to track success basis actual number of users and delivered value. This can then be correlated with the overall cost incurred to run this project. 
 
For CIOs Expecting To Make Cloud Work For Their Organisations 
They Must Change Mindset &amp; Skills. Despite skepticism, CIOs are exploring, pilot testing or using Cloud offerings. Per a Greyhound Research study, Global Cloud Adoption Index 2016, 95% respondents in APJ confirmed their plans to use Public Cloud in some manner between 2016-17. 
 
Greyhound Research believes making Digital Transformation projects a success requires CIOs to make a fundamental shift in mindset – from provisioning IT to acting like a services provider for the company. Also, IT teams must re-skill for Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) among other areas. 
 
Why This Matters To CXOs. Winning in this <keyword id="559471" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="digital-era">Digital era</keyword> will not only require agility; it will require traditional organisations to be bold and explore new ways of doing business. Having said that, while investments in Digital Transformation are already underway, Greyhound Research believes it is critical for organisations to build a new strategy prior to starting out and enforce new metrics to measure outcomes. Lastly, the success of this journey hinges upon CXOs adopting a new mind-set and percolating the need for change throughout their teams.

Here’s why digital transformation has become a necessity for traditional firms and CXOs.

New Delhi: The <keyword id="21833060" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Fintech-ecosystem" source="keywords">Fintech ecosystem</keyword> of the country now cumulatively valued at over USD 100 billion, is at a pivotal stage of evolution, with the potential to create two to three times its current value over the next decade, as per a report by <keyword id="20058186" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BCG" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="BCG" meta.hostid="269" meta.entityid="BCG">BCG</keyword> and Z47. The report highlighted that India remains one of the top three global Fintech destinations, with the ecosystem witnessing exponential growth across all levels. It added that over the past four years, the number of <keyword id="22974213" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Minicorns" source="keywords">Minicorns</keyword> (valuation at least USD 1 million but less than USD 1 billion) in the country has increased by 3.5 times, while the number of <keyword id="19944451" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Unicorns" source="keywords">Unicorns</keyword> and Soonicorns (startup that is growing quickly and has the potential to become a "unicorn" valued at USD 1 billion) has tripled. The report noted that in 2023, the country's Fintech market achieved a revenue size of USD 25 billion, marking a 56 per cent year-on-year growth which is a remarkable contrast to the global Fintech growth rate of just 13 per cent during the same period. However, the report also added that despite generating over USD 100 billion in value within the last decade, Indian Fintechs are still considered to be in the "middle" phase of their development, especially when compared to traditional incumbents who have created USD 600 billion+ in value over 30 to 50 years. The report mentioned that now the growth and the further expansion of the fintech ecosystem in the country is expected to come from the Tier 2 cities where majority of the Indian population resides. "With 63 per cent of the Indian population outside the top cities, huge opportunity exists to serve Bharat with next wave of penetration expected to come from Tier 2 cities" the report added. As Fintechs mature, profitability has become a central focus across the sector, with over 40 per cent of founders and CXOs (Chief Experience Officers) prioritizing unit economics alongside market expansion. Those preparing for or currently undergoing the IPO process are increasingly emphasizing governance, investment in infrastructure, and security. The report noted that in a recent survey of over 60 executives from top Fintechs, the majority cited market share expansion and growth as key priorities, especially for early and growth-stage companies. Post-IPO stage Fintechs, however, are placing greater emphasis on profitability and investments in technology, infrastructure, and security. "Mature Fintechs preparing for or in the IPO journey are emphasizing governance, investment in infrastructure, security Across survey of 60+ Executives of top Fintechs, market share expansion &amp; growth emerged as priorities for early and growth stage" added the report. Notably, the report stated that the profitability outlooks are improving year-on-year across all segments, with Neobank and InsurTech showing the most significant positive shifts since 2022. However, the industry is not without its challenges, particularly in the realm of cybersecurity. Over the past two decades, more than USD 20 billion has been lost to cyber and digital attacks.

This intimate understanding presents leaders with a unique opportunity to share their personal experiences and normalize the view of climate change as a very real and consequential force.Deloitte's research also showed that almost 79% of executives see the world at a tipping point for responding to climate change, but there is a prevailing sense of optimism, as 88% agreed that with immediate action, we can limit the worst impacts of climate change. So how can CxOs become climate changemakers and help tip the scales in favor of our planet's life span?<h2>Clearly communicate the organization's climate change strategy, how it was developed, and why it's the right one for the organization </h2>Communicating the organization's climate strategy to stakeholders — including regulators, shareholders, consumers, and employees — is almost as important as determining which climate actions to take in the first place. And with CxOs reporting feeling increased pressure from these stakeholder groups around climate action, transparency on measuring progress and meeting goals are even more crucial. Leaders should involve and engage the whole ecosystem — suppliers, clients, peers, governments, and more — to collaborate, share leading practices, and inspire greater commitments. They can show how the business's climate strategy is both good for the planet and good for the company with credible action plans that use widely recognized frameworks and include tangible, measurable goals and incentives in the short term to help ensure long-term goals stay on track.<h2>Identify the hierarchy of climate actions that affect the greatest change</h2>Early insights into Deloitte Global's 2022 Millennial and Gen Z Survey show respondents ranked sustainability measures such as reduction of plastics and recycling in the workplace as being most important to them. While these actions are highly visible, they are not the actions that make the most impact. CxOs should amplify communication around the "needle-moving" actions they're deploying that demonstrate they have embedded climate considerations into their culture and have the senior leader buy-in and influence to effect meaningful transformation. <div type="image" title="Kathy Alsegaf, Global Internal Sustainability Leader, Deloitte" height="800" width="800" msid="90232861" hostid="261"></div>The less visible needle-moving actions — such as requiring suppliers and business partners to meet specific sustainability criteria or developing new climate-friendly products or services — are less likely to be widely recognized within an organization. However, CxOs should find a compelling way to communicate these less obvious but highly effective sustainability actions. <h2>Make it personal </h2>Leaders should openly discuss the steps they're taking to protect the environment. Whether it's composting, reducing travel, or eating less meat, leading by example may inspire others to follow suit. Given the number of CxOs who indicated they've been personally impacted by climate change, they can seize the opportunity to share insight into their own experiences, normalize it as an issue impacting people at all levels, and reinforce that no one is immune from the effects of climate change.<h2>Be optimistic but realistic</h2>CxOs need to infuse optimism into workplace culture to catalyze action. While recent reports show the current environment can lead to defeatism and inaction, leaders with a positive mindset will help to motivate employees and challenge the notion that it's too late to make a difference. Clear, authentic, and frequent communication — backed up by real commitment and progress — is central to all four steps in becoming a climate changemaker. CxOs that increase transparency and prioritize climate change by voicing their personal experiences can prove that collective action outweighs inaction, tipping the scales in favor of a more prosperous and prolonged existence for the Earth and its inhabitants. Business Insider India’s Future of Work Summit 2023: Meet the speakers

New Delhi, Nov 17 (PTI) Global investment firm Blackstone-sponsored Nexus Select Trust filed the draft paper with market regulator SEBI on Thursday to launch India's first public issue of retail REIT to raise around USD 500 million, sources said. Nexus Select Trust has a portfolio of 17 operational shopping malls across 14 major cities, covering about 10 million square feet area valued around USD 3 billion. As per the sources, Nexus Select Trust has filed the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and is looking to hit the capital market with India's first retail REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) public issue in the first half of 2023 calendar year. The size of the initial public offer (IPO) of Nexus Select Trust REIT will be around USD 500 million, they added. This will be the third REIT sponsored by the Blackstone. It had earlier launched India's first REIT -- Embassy Office Parks REIT-- and then Mindspace Business Parks REIT. The REIT, a popular instrument globally, was introduced in India a few years ago to attract investment in the real estate sector by monetising rent-yielding assets. It helps unlock the massive value of real estate assets and enable participation of retail investors. At present, there are three listed REITs -- Embassy Office Parks REIT, Mindspace Business Parks REIT and Brookfield India Real Estate Trust -- on Indian stock exchanges but all these are of leased office assets. Nexus Select Trust will be the first REIT with rent-yielding retail real estate assets. In its portfolio of 10 million square feet of retail real estate, Nexus Select Trust has also included Select Citywalk mall in south Delhi. There are around 3,000 stores in its shopping malls while the number of brands are approximately 1,000. The sources said Blackstone is very bullish on the growth story of India's retail sector, which have bounced back sharply post the second wave of the Covid pandemic. "The fundamental of India's retail business is very strong. People are spending money and watching movies," a source said. Unlike office segment, there are not many players in shopping malls business and also the supply of Grade A malls is also limited, the sources said. On operational front, the occupancy level in the malls currently stands at 94 per cent with annual footfall of over 130 million, they said. The sales in its malls during the April-June quarter have been 24 per cent more than the pre-Covid level. Nexus Select Trust has done leasing of around 3.5 million square feet over the last three years and three months. Its senior management team consisting of nine CXOs (with 20+ years average experience) led by Dalip Sehgal (former executive director of Unilever India) as CEO is supported by over 500 employees. The board of directors is highly diversified and experienced. The key board members are Michael Holland (ex-CEO of the Embassy REIT), Arjun Sharma (Chairman and Director of the Select Group), Jayesh Merchant (ex-CFO Asian Paints), Sadashiv Rao (Former Director of IDFC) and Tuhin Parikh (Head of BX India Real Estate). Blackstone has a real estate portfolio of 85 assets totalling 150 million square feet across office, retail and logistics segments. In office, Blackstone is collectively one of India's largest office landlords (41 assets totalling 101 million square feet), while in logistics and industrial space, the Blackstone is one of India's largest warehousing landlords (21 assets totalling 38 million square feet). Blackstone has recently set up a fully-owned platform 'Lumina' to invest in data centres across Asia, with initial focus on India. India's first REIT of Rs 4,750 crore issue size was listed in April 2019 by Embassy Office Parks, sponsored by Blackstone and realty firm Embassy Group. In August 2020, K Raheja and Blackstone-sponsored Mindspace Business Parks launched the country's second REIT to raise Rs 4,500 crore. Global investment firm Brookfield has listed the country's third REIT after raising Rs 3,800 crore through an IPO.

Things that were once considered privileges – like flexible working hours or the ability to work from anywhere on any device – are becoming the new normal. Pay was held to be the main factor that decides a change in job, with 71% employees in the survey indicating that they expect to be ‘fairly rewarded financially’ for the work they do. But there is certainly more to it than that. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="What does it mean for tech leaders?" comment="subhead" text="What does it mean for tech leaders?">What does it mean for tech leaders?</cmsannotation> Right from the onset of the Great Resignation, tech and healthcare industries have been witnessing the highest levels of attrition. This, coupled with the latest figures on attrition – about 86% of people are planning to resign in the next six months in India, according to a <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/relationships/work/86-indian-employees-are-expected-to-resign-in-6-months-recruitment-agency/articleshow/92105254.cms">report by recruitment agency Michael Page,</a> – it’s evident that we are going to see the Great Resignation in all its intensity in 2022. The key reason for this trend, according to the <keyword id="1637808" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="michael-page" source="Orion">Michael Page</keyword> report, is how employees are re-evaluating what constitutes quality work, and they want it to be purposeful. A significant 61% of respondents in India are willing to accept a lower salary or forgo pay rise and/or promotion for better work-life balance, overall well-being and happiness. For the chief information officers (CIOs) who are in charge of leading ambitious digital transformation initiatives for their organisations, this presents unprecedented challenges. Several CIOs are already reporting that they find it increasingly difficult to attract and retain skilled developers needed to drive digital transformation (DX). DX-related IT skill shortages will affect 90% of global enterprises by 2025, <a href="https://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS48395221">according to IDC</a>. Hiring and retaining workers was cited as <a href="https://sapinsider.org/how-the-great-resignation-is-impacting-cio-priorities/">the second-biggest challenge by CIOs in 2022</a>, while it was not even among the top 4 till 2021, according to a <keyword id="14495515" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sapinsider" source="Orion">SAPinsider</keyword> survey. CIOs must now work with fewer resources to meet their strategic goals around digital transformation, innovation and agility. Worse still, this throws teams into another vicious cycle of employee burnout and dissatisfaction. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="The way forward" comment="subhead" text="The way forward">The way forward</cmsannotation> If CIOs are to succeed in retaining talent, it’s time to relook at strategies. Most employees are looking at exciting and fulfilling roles and holistic work culture, with fair pay being the foundation. Tech leaders who have been successful in managing talent are focusing on offering more flexibility, improving employee engagement and training/upskilling existing team members. Working closely with employees with niche skills, who are more likely to quit, helps them retain critical talent in the long run. The most important thing to do, according to <keyword id="14495516" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="olly-riches" source="Orion">Olly Riches</keyword>, senior managing director at Michael Page, is to entice talent passion. “...Candidates are increasingly less interested in moving within the same industry and more interested in new ideas, beyond their current role, department and industry even. There’s a hesitancy to simply change business cards for a 20% increase. Which is good news — if they’re going to move, it needs to be very, very enticing in order to take that leap. But that puts the onus on their current employer to entice them through passion,” he says. <keyword id="13185080" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sharath-srinivasamurthy" source="Orion">Sharath Srinivasamurthy</keyword>, research director at IDC, believes that solving the skills equation has become a C-suite issue, and Indian enterprises are moving to create a culture of continuous learning and collaboration that will support their digital resiliency efforts in the future. The steep jump in sales by 1.3X times during the ‘freedom sale’ in August indicates consumer sentiment towards deal seeking and price consciousness. “The E-Commerce channel is seeing a “sale” triggered cautious recovery. The shoppers today are anticipating and holding back their purchases for sale periods. While some categories such as home appliances are seeing a pent up demand in lieu of safety and personal home convenience. These best practices might come handy: Set Data standards: Duplicate data, incomplete fields and inconsistent formats etc. are some of the common issues that most organizations deal with. Data verification processes must be comprehensive and preferably automated, with deduplication capabilities. A good starting point would be to define ‘data quality’ in alignment with your company’s business goals and other key metrices. These goals can vary across business functions, so periodic reassessment of ‘quality’ is critical. Data quality profiling helps you with course correction and prioritization. Identify what’s critical: With the growing volumes of data, it’s not always practical to apply the standards of quality to all your data assets. Identify the organization’s Critical Data Elements (CDEs) or the ‘data that is critical to succeed’. A matured data governance practice will help you identify CDEs to prioritize tasks and goals more accurately. A CDE-based approach will help the organization to scale and sustain their data quality efforts without breaking the bank. Establish Data Literacy: There are several challenging in establishing an effective data governance plan. The most common problem is the lack of accountability and ownership within the organization. Your employees across departments must identify the importance of data quality and governance. Human error is another persisting roadblock in this journey. Establishing data literacy practices will help users adopt a data-first culture and set consistent data quality metrices. Make data quality a part of the KRA for at least employees that work with data directly. Understand that data silos is a reality; work on aspects to ensure that the organization’s data is trusted, leveraged and understood by employees and other stakeholders alike. Dealing with exponential data growth: The issue of data quality will only intensify as organizations produce and deal with more and more data. It is estimated that, more than 150 zettabytes of big data will need to be analysed over the next three years .A vast majority of companies believe that poor quality of data in businesses negatively impacts consumer interaction, reputation and the efficiency of operations. With scale and volume, teams often feel overwhelmed and this leads to burnout. You may want to expand your data quality team or invest on AI/ML-powered tools to cut down repetitive tasks. Work in partnership: Data is an enterprise asset and any initiative around deriving value out of this asset should be a team work. By aligning the data quality initiatives with business goals, data and analytics leaders can ensure board buy-in and involvement.
