Guwahati, A 'toy story' is unfolding in a remote village in Assam's Baksa district where real and fiction are coming together as a young entrepreneur is making dolls combining local culture and motifs for a global audience. If there is a doll of Gambari Sikla who fought against the British, there is another styled on 'Bodofa' UN Brahma, an influential student leader in the Bodo-dominated region of the state. Then there are fictional characters like Alasi, who has a story woven around her pursuit of higher studies, or little Jarow, who loves to play and eat sweets throughout the day. "At our Zankla Studio, we are making toys with a purpose. We have a range of dolls, birds, animals and even souvenir pieces," Kirat Brahma, who runs the enterprise at Hazuma, told PTI on Thursday. The toys are not merely for the children to play, these also come with a story -- some real and some fictional, he said. "Even in the case of animals or birds, we weave a story around it. For instance, we have a rhino toy, with a back story of how it strays into human habitation during floods and requires everyone's empathy," he said. All the dolls are handcrafted, made of standard fibre used in soft toys and local fabric for clothing, with Brahma also exploring organic alternative raw materials. "Our toys come with the pamphlets as children have a very creative mind and love stories," said Brahma, a graduate of the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad. An art enthusiast since his school days, Brahma worked on animated short films and other such ventures, mostly as a freelancer, after leaving NID in 2014-15, and before returning to his roots in 2021. "I had left my place in Hazuma as a child when I started school. But I always wanted to come back, be with my family and work for my community," he said. Brahma, now in his early 30s, wanted to take up solution-oriented projects and chose to pursue design. "Our culture and design are entwined, be it in our dress, our cultivation methods or something as basic as the bamboo fencing around our homes. "Design means functionality and aesthetics at the core, and I wanted to take up a venture which combines these aspects and is easily relatable to the people," he explained. "With toys, we are trying to create awareness about design in an indirect way. Also, we want to give our children the chance to play with dolls more relatable to their surroundings and habits," he added. Brahma also understands the need for the venture to be commercially viable. "We are trying to develop a model for revenue generation. I don't want it to be a research project, to be put in the archive," the entrepreneur said. He said that he started off with his own savings and currently employs 11 people. Orders are taken at the studio or through their website, with the toys sent through courier. "The response has been good and we have got orders from as far as Mumbai as well. We are now looking for additional marketing platforms as well as financial support," he said. Brahma has plans of expanding his toy-making business to include other communities also. "Besides my own Bodo community, I hope to skill and encourage different communities like Rabhas and Garos to design toys reflecting their own culture and tradition. The toy market is a huge one and with the correct strategies, gaining a foothold won't be a problem," he added. Till his dreams take higher flight, Brahma and his team continue making their dolls in between attending to their household chores and farming activities.

Medics and coroners also testified during the case, that Kraus' cause of death was due to a sudden cardiac arrest after having been attacked by the chicken.O'Keefe testified that he heard Kraus yell "come quick," and entered the house to find Kraus with a large open gash that was bleeding profusely on one of his calves. He told the court that he called an ambulance, and medics arrived, attempting to perform CPR on him and treat his wound.He was pronounced dead at the scene.Kraus was in poor health and in remission from cancer at the time, and his daughter testified that his family "knew his heart was bad," according to the Examiner.Kraus' death on Thursday was ruled a death by misadventure, which is a coroner's term for a preventable death.On average, Brahma chickens weigh around 12 pounds but can weigh <a href="https://www.insider.com/is-the-big-chicken-video-real-2017-3">as many as 20 pounds.</a>Guinan said in a deposition that she "realized that it must have been the chicken" that attacked her father because she observed blood on its claws and because "he attacked my daughter before," the Examiner reported. NEW DELHI: The <keyword id="40807" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Election-Commission">Election Commission</keyword> on Wednesday sounded the poll bugle, announcing a nine-phase election to the <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> and state assemblies of <keyword id="37102" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Andhra-Pradesh">Andhra Pradesh</keyword>, Odisha and <keyword id="48118" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Sikkim">Sikkim</keyword> between April 7 and May 12. With polling to be stretched over nine rounds lasting 34 days, as against five phases spread over 28 days in 2009, this general election will be the most protracted so far.

 Among the states, UP and <keyword id="30033" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bihar">Bihar</keyword> will vote over six phases; <keyword id="6357783" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="West-Bengal">West Bengal</keyword> and Jammu &amp; Kashmir over five phases; <keyword id="6354915" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Assam">Assam</keyword>, <keyword id="43945" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword>, <keyword id="6360371" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Jharkhand">Jharkhand</keyword>, <keyword id="6355554" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword> and Maharashtra over three phases; and Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan and Tripura over two phases.  Accepting the Union home ministry's suggestion to hold polls to Naxal-hit and disturbance-prone areas of northeast in the first phase, the EC has scheduled polling in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies across Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, <keyword id="50015" type="COMPANY" weightage="40" keywordseo="nagaland">Nagaland</keyword> and Odisha in the initial two phases on April 7 and 9, followed by voting across Naxal-hit areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Maharashtra and Odisha over the next two phases on April 10 and 12. 
 
An 81.4 crore-strong electorate will elect the 16th Lok Sabha by voting across 9.3 lakh polling stations in the country. This is in contrast with 71.6 crore electorate and 8.3 lakh polling stations in the last Lok Sabha poll. Around 1.15 lakh Central paramilitary personnel will be deployed for poll duty. 
 Sampath said while the electoral rolls had been updated with January 1, 2014, as the reference date and published across all the states, the voters could enrol themselves up to the date of notification of poll. In fact, the EC will be holding special camps on March 9 across all the 9.3 lakh polling stations to enable eligible voters to verify their names in the electoral rolls and apply for registration if not enrolled already. The <keyword id="295526" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="booth-level-officer">booth level officer</keyword> will be present at these camps to facilitate the voter to fill up Form 6 for enrolment. "We assure the voters that these applications will be disposed well in time to enable them to vote in the coming poll," said the CEC. 
 These polls are expected to be one of the most fiercely contested, with the BJP looking to wrest power from the <keyword id="26374" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="UPA-government">UPA government</keyword> beleaguered with strong anti-incumbency. The EC on Wednesday appealed to all political parties and candidates to "uphold the peerless democratic traditions by maintaining high standards of political discourse and fair play in the course of their election campaigns". "We appeal to the leaders of all political parties, especially their star campaigners, to refrain from using language that is against decorum and decency," said <keyword id="6358437" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Election-Commissioner">election commissioner</keyword> Brahma.

Lok Sabha Polls To Start On April 7, Vote Count On May 16

The current standoff was sparked when Indian troops confronted Chinese soldiers who were constructing a road in disputed territory that India claims as its own. There was no fire exchanged, but the incident was yet another example of China pushing its territorial confrontations with its neighbors as far as possible without reaching a violent breaking-point.
China and India share the world's longest disputed border, along which China has mounted occasional incursions in an effort to achieve a strategic advantage in the area. 

These border transgressions by China are part of a slow-rolling strategy that Brahma Chellaney, a professor of strategic studies at the Center of Policy Research in New Delhi, <a href="http://www.japantimes.co.jp/author/int-brahma_chellaney/">describes as "salami slicing"</a> in The Japan Times.
China slowly infiltrates and takes control of a disputed border by a series of small maneuvers, a policy of limited steady steps to take and hold territory. This limits "the options of the targeted countries by confounding their deterrence plans and making it difficult for them to devise proportionate or effective counteractions," Brahma <a href="http://www.japantimes.co.jp/author/int-brahma_chellaney/">writes</a>. 
This slow, steady eating away at borders grants China a strategic advantage. No single action is cause enough for war. And by maintaining the strategic initiative, China can slowly push its borders further and further into disputed territory while maintaining a measure of deniability. 
According to Srikanth Kondapalli, a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University who <a href="http://online.wsj.com/articles/chinas-president-xi-jinping-arrives-in-delhi-as-troops-face-off-at-india-china-border-1410968062">spoke to The Wall Street Journal, the strategy works</a>. Five years ago, the site where Chinese troops were building the disputed road was squarely considered to be in Indian territory.
Despite efforts at boosting economic ties between China and India - like this week's high-level summit - the two nations remain deeply suspicious of each other. The countries <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Indian_War">fought</a> a border war in 1962, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/india-is-the-worlds-largest-arms-importer-2014-6#ixzz35IfLtiJn">India and China are the world's leading weapons importers</a>. And India has hosted Tibet's <a href="http://tibet.net/">government in exile</a> since 1959.
Aside from the slow infiltration of Chinese troops in disputed Himalayan territory, India has also been unnerved by China's growing development of military bases throughout the Indian Ocean. 
China has invested in port installations that can support the country's commercial and military activities in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. Indian General Deepak Kapoor, a former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, has <a href="http://www.sipri.org/media/blogs/eps-blog/china-india-and-the-three-cs">referred</a> to this project as China's "string of pearls" surrounding India. 
China also pursues its "salami slicing" strategy at sea, where it has slowly expanded its maritime claims within the South and East China seas. This push has led to a<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-south-china-sea-graphic-2014-7"> rapid increase of hostilities</a> between China and its neighbors, including Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines, with at least one Chinese military professor believing that maritime-related tensions <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/michelle-florcruz-maritime-disputes-will-lead-to-world-war-iii-2014-9">could lead</a> to World War III. 
That might be a tad alarmist. But this week's confrontation between the two nations' armies occurred even as Indian and Chinese leaders were discussing the boosting of economic ties between the two nations. Even if their commercial relationship deepens, the world's two most populous countries still have huge points of contention with each other.

The <keyword id="1370377" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BPM-industry" source="Orion">BPM industry</keyword> in India is at the cusp of a transformation and the demand for AI-enabled talent is set to surge, redefining workforce needs across the sector. “My spectrum tells me, in the next 3-5 years, there’s going to be an uptick in AI-enabled workers till the time that models stabilise,” said Nitasha Atreya, the Head of Transformation, Digital Operations and Platforms at Wipro, during a panel discussion on “AI-Ready <keyword id="20041791" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bpm" source="keywords">BPM</keyword> Industry in India,” hosted by Business Insider India. While AI has the potential to streamline many business processes, industry experts caution against relying solely on AI. Human intervention is still required, which means skilling new talent and upskilling existing talent is vital to leveraging AI effectively. Ramesh shared industry projections that estimate AI could create up to 100 million jobs globally. AI models generate predictions based on historical data and probabilities, but human oversight is essential to ensure accuracy and minimise errors. “AI as an enabler or augmenting the human workforce is probably the way this industry is going to progress. With the risks that are associated with completely leaving AI to replace humans – it’s just not going to work,” explained <keyword id="23987938" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sundar-hariharan" source="keywords">Sundar Hariharan</keyword>, Vice President of Digital Business Experience Centre at Alorica IQ. <h2>Shaping the future of AI And BPMs with collaborative intelligence</h2>The panellists emphasised a significant challenge in AI model development: only 1 in every 100 models actually makes it to deployment. For all of these models, a rigorous process of training and fine-tuning is required, using either synthetic or human-generated data. This process is not just about feeding the model data but also validating the output to ensure it functions as intended. “There’s a lot of requirements for data training and validation,” said Ramesh, highlighting the substantial demand for data annotators, labelers, and specialists in areas like image and video annotation. These roles are crucial for ensuring that the data used to train models is of high quality and accurately reflects the task at hand. However, the skills required for these roles go beyond traditional data labelling. The workforce must move away from rigid Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and understand the context in which data is being used. This requires employees to make judgement calls that help refine the model’s performance, adapting to continuously evolving instruction sets. "It’s collaborative intelligence—human intelligence combined with artificial intelligence," Ramesh noted. To address this evolving demand for skills, companies like Wipro have implemented comprehensive upskilling programs. These programs are tailored to different business segments, from basic AI awareness (AI 101) to advanced training for developers, engineers, and architects—those working directly on the models. Atreya shared that over 10,000 developers and engineers at Wipro are currently receiving training across these programs. <h2>AI’s role in transforming BPM operations</h2>According to Suhrid Brahma, the Chief Technology Officer at WNS Global Systems, the core model of the BPM industry is changing. “There is a shift from focus on people, to outcomes and value-add as an industry,” he said. He outlines a three-part strategy for the upgrades needed in AI-driven BPM, beginning with AI in operations. By building an AI-skilled workforce and maintaining a ‘human in the loop’ approach, organisations can maximise the value of AI while keeping essential human oversight. The second area is AI for applications and platforms. Each BPM deal has a technological component, which varies from client to client, but AI should be woven directly into these enterprise systems to ensure seamless functionality. Lastly, he highlights AI’s evolving role in analytics, shifting from retrospective analysis to providing predictive insights that drive proactive decision-making across the organisation. “This whole industry will grow for sure. But the nature of work we do, the kind of value-add we do for clients and the kind of outcomes we deliver as an industry, will definitely change,” Brahma noted. <h2>Navigating an evolving AI landscape in BPM</h2>As AI continues to reshape BPM, the nature of customer needs is also changing. With AI, businesses now have the potential to drive end-to-end process automation, where one part of the process is handled by the BPM organisation and the other by the client, fostering a more collaborative approach to AI adoption. Hariharan noted that BPM providers are transitioning into more tech-driven organisations, as AI increasingly becomes a key enabler of business processes. However, the road to AI integration is not without challenges. Atreya pointed out several challenges like siloed technology limiting the potential of AI to drive meaningful results. Atreya highlighted that siloed technology often limits the ability of AI to drive results. Organisations must assess whether they are AI-ready, with a mature data infrastructure and robust data availability. According to her, the most pressing concern remains ensuring ethical and responsible AI deployment, as new regulations continue to evolve. For sectors like BFSI, tech integration is already advanced, but industries like logistics have an opportunity to leapfrog by integrating systems and running processes end-to-end with AI, according to Brahma. He emphasised the importance of data integration to fully benefit from AI. Looking ahead, the panellists see huge opportunities in sectors like e-commerce and automotive, where AI-driven services are changing the landscape. The key to success will be collaboration, integration, and a well-trained workforce prepared to drive this AI-enabled transformation. Lok Sabha Election 2019: AGP Candidate list for Assam

In Assam, BJP will share its Lok Sabha seats with Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF). There are fourteen Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Assam. BJP has given two seats namely Dhubri and Barpeta to one of its allies AGP, the other ally being BPF. BJP has nominated Rameshwar Teli to contest from Dibrugarh, who had won from the same constituency in 2014 elections for the parliament. In all the other constituencies of the state where the party is nominating its candidates, new candidates have been announced. There are at least 20 Hindu deities that are regularly worshiped in Japan, even as some of them have long been forgotten in India. Amongst the deities worshipped in Japan, one can see the idols of Saraswati, Lakshmi, Indra, Brahma, Ganesha, Garuda and others. 
 A unique photo exhibition of art-historian Benoy Behl that is being held at the Indian Museum of Japan would throw light on the India’s long lost history surviving in the faraway land. These photographs reveal the importance that the Indian heritage holds in <keyword id="414952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Japanese-culture">Japanese culture</keyword>. 
 
To name some of these references, the 6th century Siddham script which has disappeared from India is preserved in Japan. Along with this, 'Beejaksharas' (or etymology of alphabets) of Sanskrit in this script are also revered in the Japanese culture. 
 
Similarly, some Japanese tombs are adorned with the Sanskrit alphabets and even though people there don’t understand it, they worship them nonetheless. 
 
Behl's research revealed that there is a school in Koyasan where Sanskrit is taught in the Siddham script. 
 
A good number of Japanese words originate from Sanskrit, a major brand of Japanese milk products Sujata, finds its name from Buddha’s story. 
 
"In many ways, this philosophic understanding is most well preserved in Japan. Japan has not had the breakdown of cultural norms which India suffered when a colonial education system was created. Therefore, most Indians learnt about our own culture from the Western point of view. The dominant and admired language was English, which it remains till today," Indian Museum education officer Sayan Bhattacharya told TOI. 
 
The exhibition is all set to explain the unique relationship that India has with Japan. 
 
"The deep-rooted spirit of the Buddha's teachings energizes the Japanese people. Buddhist temples are numerous and vast numbers of people visit these every day. Besides the Buddha, many ancient Indian deities and practices (prevail) in their temples. An Indian feels quite at home in Japan," Behl wrote in his research.

Besides, London, three other Modi wax figured will also be displayed in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok today onwards. 
 
Taking their similarities a notch higher, Narendra Modi also joined in with his wax version in a trademark namaste. 
 
He was all praise for the wax replica after their unusual meeting. 
 
"What can I say? As far as art is concerned, the Madame Tussauds team is exceptional at what they do. What Lord Brahma does normally is what the artists there are doing. Today, I had an opportunity as the prime servant of my people to meet my wax figure," Modi added. 
 
 
 
According to Edward Fuller, the General Manager at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=MADAME+TUSSAUDS&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Madame Tussauds</a>, the immense interest in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=narendra+MODI&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Narendra Modi</a> is evident from his massive social media following. He also added that he was sure that it would also mean that many guest would line up to stand shoulder to shoulder with one of the most influential men in the world. “And, maybe even grab a selfie.” 
 
"We will be delighted to welcome Mr Modi to the world stage at Madame Tussauds, London," said Fuller, adding, "It's wonderful that he had the opportunity to see his figure in India earlier this week before the public gets the chance to meet him here." 
 
In case you were wondering, each Modi figure cost 150,000 pounds and took a team of talented artists four months to make. 
 
His wax replica will now join other global leaders at Madame Tussauds like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=OBAMA&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">President Obama</a>, David Cameron, Angela Merkel, Francoise Holland while standing alongside giants like <keyword id="6355532" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Mahatma-Gandhi">Mahatma Gandhi</keyword> and Winston Churchill.
