They say Facebook or Twitter are serving a very niche audience in Indian society and not those who are still experimenting with the internet through their smartphones with limited data packs. 
 
This lot, they said, wants to express themselves online but do not have a platform which allows them to interact in the comfort of their local languages. The trio then came down to the conclusion - if they were to give these people an alternative, this untouched market would nto shy away from communicating socially like others. 
 It is for this reason this trio soon started developing an app last year, and this led to the birth of '<keyword id="3358959" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ShareChat">Sharechat</keyword>' - a one of its kind social networking app for India’s vernacular language users, what the founders would like to call "India's real Facebook". 
 
The sheer success this app has got in the past few months indicates people were desperately seeking for such a platform. The app has been downloaded over 1 million times and it has half a million active monthly users. It started as a fun app for Whatsapp with users sharing 1 lakh content pieces per day, and has now made rapid strides towards becoming a full-fledged social network.

New Delhi, Mar 19 () No member of the search committee constituted by the government has been appointed as the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday. "No," said Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh, in a written reply when asked if an officer from the search committee, constituted for the appointment procedure of the CVC, itself has been appointed against the said post. The applications for the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner are invited openly, the minister said. "However, in case where a member of the Search Committee had applied for the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner, the Search Committee had been reconstituted, by including another member in lieu, with due approval of the competent authority," said Singh. The assertion assumes significance as the Congress had last month termed the process adopted for appointment of the Central Vigilance Commissioner "illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional" and demanded its immediate scrapping. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari had said the recommendations for the CVC, the panel which was sent to the high powered committee, consisted of Ajay Narain Jha, currently a member of the 15th Finance Commission, Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar, and former DoPT secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma. He had said the Finance Secretary was a member of the search committee, an applicant for the post of CVC and the committee recommends one of its members to be appointed as the CVC. A CVC is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the selection committee consisting of the prime minister as its chairperson, and the Minister of Home Affairs and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, as its members. The Centre is yet to fill the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner and a Vigilance Commissioner for over eight months. Central Vigilance Commissioner K V Chowdary and Vigilance Commissioner T M Bhasin completed their term in June last year. After their tenure ended, Vigilance Commissioner Sharad Kumar was made interim CVC. No search committee member appointed as CVC: Govt

Homegrown regional language social media platform <keyword id="3358959" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="ShareChat">ShareChat</keyword> on Monday said that it has fully migrated its infrastructure to <keyword id="691847" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google-Cloud">Google Cloud</keyword> in a bid to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance the overall performance of the app. The migration of its infrastructure from <keyword id="141088" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-Web-Services">Amazon Web Services</keyword> (<keyword id="291131" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="AWS">AWS</keyword>) to Google Cloud is expected to help ShareChat cut expenses on backend technology by as much as 20 per cent. "Google Cloud was our cloud partner of choice given its superior technology, secure and high-performing infrastructure, and cost effectiveness. We were also able to build a high degree of trust with Google's team that made this seamless migration a reality," Bhanu Pratap Singh, Chief Technology Officer, ShareChat, said in a statement. "Developers want tools that can accelerate and improve the app development cycle. Google's advanced tools and integrated offerings like Cloud Bigtable, Cloud Spanner and Kubernetes are aligned well with our requirements." ShareChat currently serves more than 60 million monthly active users in 15 different Indian languages. A large proportion of its active users hail from tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with the majority of them relying on 2G networks. ShareChat decided to migrate to Google Cloud in April. So the migration from its incumbent Cloud platform to Google Cloud took place amid the Covid-19 crisis.
