In Maharashtra’s Thane district, police have registered a case of alleged fraud involving two construction company owners accused of deceiving a family of ₹1.2 crore. The incident came to light after a 28-year-old woman from Thane’s Rabodi area lodged a complaint against the two accused, who are brothers. The accused allegedly persuaded the woman, her mother, and her sister to invest the substantial sum in their construction company based in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Promises were made of a significant payout within five years or, alternatively, the option of acquiring two or three apartments in the city’s prime real estate zone. According to the complaint, the woman’s family entered the deal on December 31, 2022, convinced by assurances of either a return of ₹3 crore over five years or property options in Bandra. To meet the required investment amount, the family borrowed funds from various sources, entrusting their money with the accused based on the lucrative promises. The police official handling the case noted that the family, enticed by the seemingly profitable terms, had not foreseen the outcome that would follow. In May 2023, however, when the family attempted to reclaim their funds and the anticipated profit, the accused allegedly declined the request. The complainant stated that the brothers not only refused to pay but also reportedly threatened the family, citing powerful connections that would shield them from legal repercussions. This behaviour alarmed the family, leading them to seek legal recourse. The Rabodi police have filed a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 420 for cheating, Section 406 for criminal breach of trust, and Section 506 for criminal intimidation. Additionally, charges were filed under Section 34, indicating common intention, along with relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors Act. The case highlights the dangers that investors may face when lured by high-return promises in unregulated sectors. Fraudulent schemes in real estate and construction have been known to target individuals and families looking for profitable investments, often leaving them with financial losses and emotional distress. Authorities are continuing investigations, with the Rabodi police closely monitoring the case to gather further evidence. This incident is expected to bring more attention to regulatory practices within the real estate industry and underscore the need for stricter oversight to protect potential investors from falling prey to deceitful operators. And a lot of this noise can be traced back to cacophony at the signals. Mumbaikars honk even when the signal is red! Needless to say, this noise pollution is making the city alarmingly unhealthy to live in. To tackle this <keyword id="4396938" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="honking-menace">honking menace</keyword>, the Mumbai Traffic Police, in partnership with FCB Interface came up with an innovative solution called The Punishing Signal.

 This is how it works. Special decibel meters were connected to traffic signals across the island city. When the decibel exceeded a dangerous 85dB, the signal timer would reset itself... forcing the people to wait longer at the signal! Thus ‘punishing’ them for their impatience with the message, honk more, wait more! “Honking is bad habit and an act of traffic indiscipline. Unfortunately, many Mumbaikars indulge in reckless honking. Honking causes noise pollution, hurts the eardrums, increases heart rate, creates traffic confusion and causes stress. Unnecessary honking is a menace which everyone recognizes but does little to curb. This small experiment is one of many attempts by Mumbai Police to create better road discipline in Mumbai. Hopefully, it will encourage Mumbaikars to honk less, and create a noise-free and stress-free commute,” said Madhukar Pandey, Jt. Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Mumbai Police. As a part of the campaign, the first leg of activation was tested in Mumbai at important junctions that are most prone to heavy traffic such as CSMT, Marine Drive, Peddar Road, Hindmata and Bandra. And the film gives one glimpses of the confused honking Mumbaikars who honked, waited, honked and learnt it the hard way, that honking is not the way out. Shedding light on the creative idea, Robby Mathew, Chief Creative Officer, FCB Interface, said, “Sometimes, the stick works better than the carrot. And a signal that gave us a gentle rap on the knuckles for honking unnecessarily, seemed like a good idea to me”. Adding, Rohit Ohri, Group Chairman and CEO FCB Group, said, “We have been partnering Mumbai Police for many years now. Noise pollution is a big problem in our cities. This new initiative is a fantastic creative solution for bringing about awareness and a behaviour change amongst the drivers in Mumbai.”

The video then cuts to a snapshot of Khan supposedly lying dead in the middle of the track. The video went viral, but the police were not amused by Khan's social-media stunt.  However, when <keyword id="6354576" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Facebook">Facebook</keyword> declined to give out information on the suspect Jabbar, the police booked the social networking website on charges of non-cooperation. 
 
The police carried out searches at Facebook’s Bandra Kurla Complex office from 2 pm on Thursday afternoon acting on an order issued by Mangaluru court stating Facebook’s non-cooperation. 
 
On its part, the social networking website has changed its stance after the court order ans has promised to divulge all information about the suspect within 48 hours. 
 
The suspect Jabbar was arrested after the police stepped in to track him down. They have registered a case under section 153 A(promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and 295 A(deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting religious beliefs) in connection to the online content.

Ali has now decided to raise awareness about the harms of playing the game on streets, posting his story and images of his damaged car on social media.
