The <keyword id="25892" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="box-office">box office</keyword> drought is finally over as silver screen sensation <keyword id="14509" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Rajinikanth">Rajinikanth</keyword>’s latest outing <keyword id="1849408" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kochadaiiyaan">Kochadaiiyaan</keyword> has turned out to be a smash hit, crossing the Rs 50 crore mark in just five days, according to industry estimates. The movie grossed Rs 42 crore worldwide in the first three days, according to a release by <keyword id="128026" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Eros-International">Eros International</keyword>. Domestic collections amounted to Rs 30 crore in the opening weekend while the rest came from overseas business. This could be equivalent to Rs 32.3 crore nett worldwide, as per trade estimates. “Kochadaiiyaan opening weekend – Worldwide: Rs 42 cr gross. All 6 languages. 2D and 3D. SUPERB,” film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted. 
 However, first Monday collections dipped considerably to Rs 5 crore in the <keyword id="1761158" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="indian-circuit">Indian circuit</keyword> while the movie managed to earn Rs 4.5 crore at home on the first Tuesday. Although overseas numbers for these two days are not available yet, industry insiders put gross worldwide collections at Rs 50 crore-plus just after five days. “Kochadaiiyaan… has fared exceptionally well in <keyword id="8695" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Malaysia">Malaysia</keyword> in particular. Is good in the <keyword id="6355055" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="USA">USA</keyword>, the UK &amp; <keyword id="6355478" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Australia">Australia</keyword>,” Adarsh tweeted about weekday business.  This period drama-cum-futuristic fantasy was off to a stupendous start on Friday (May 23), hitting 3,000-plus theatres worldwide. Eros International released the film in 2D and 3D, in 6 languages, and directly undertook the distribution in <keyword id="20154" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="tamil-nadu">Tamil Nadu</keyword>. The flick saw nearly 95% occupancy in Tamil Nadu where Rajinikanth has a huge fan following. In contrast, the Telugu version saw a lacklustre beginning at home, grossing only Rs 5 crore in the first 3 days. Business slumped in the <keyword id="2266509" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Northern-belt">Northern belt</keyword> as well and the Rajini-starrer significantly lagged behind with Rs 4 crore gross during the first three days. The budget of this movie is Rs 125 crore across all languages. 
 In case you are not aware of its many merits, let us quickly run you through some landmarks. Directed by <keyword id="1800934" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Soundarya-R-Ashwin">Soundarya R. Ashwin</keyword> (Rajini’s daughter) and written by K.S. Ravikumar, Kochadaiiyaan is India’s first 3D film to use <keyword id="2266515" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Photorealistic-motion-capturing">photorealistic motion capturing</keyword> techniques – a technology that makes animation as lifelike as possible (you had a good dose of it in James Cameron’s <keyword id="44111" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Avatar">Avatar</keyword>). The film has Rajinikanth in triple roles – Kochadaiiyaan, Rana and Sena. <keyword id="598" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deepika-Padukone">Deepika Padukone</keyword>, <keyword id="297" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jackie-Shroff">Jackie Shroff</keyword>, <keyword id="1029184" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="nassar">Nassar</keyword> and <keyword id="24628" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shobana">Shobana</keyword> did pretty well in other key roles in the film. The music has been composed by <keyword id="11851" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="AR-Rahman">AR Rahman</keyword> and cinematography has been handled by Padmesh. 
 
For the thinking audience, however, the storyline has nothing new. It features the same old conflict between the good and the evil but also comes with some surprising twists and moral dilemmas. Yet, at the end, it tires more than illuminates, failing to take you past the visual dazzle. As film critic Shubhra Gupta so rightly notes, “Even Rajini, the one and the only, can’t pick up a film and run with it, if it has the oldest, creakiest plots cobbled together from many books. But the best tech specs in the world can’t rescue a sinking story… After a point, it all becomes too much sound and fury and not much else. One Rajini flipping cigarettes is much more fun than two Rajinis flinging swords in never never land.”

The action-romance flick has seen an influx of debut actors (a total of 21) including <keyword id="133664" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tiger-Shroff">Tiger Shroff</keyword> (Jackie’s son) and <keyword id="210696" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kriti-Sanon">Kriti Sanon</keyword> in the lead roles 
 
“Heropanti passes the crucial ‘Monday test.’ Fri 6.63 cr, Sat 6.42 cr, Sun 8.28 cr, Mon 4.26 cr. Total: Rs 25.59 cr nett. India biz,” tweeted Adarsh while trade figure puts the domestic collections at Rs 24.96 crore. <keyword id="1996079" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Overseas-collections">Overseas collections</keyword> stood at Rs 2.13 crore gross after Day 4. The masala entertainer was released in 2,100 screens across India and its debut day earning is the fifth highest opening day collection for movies released in 2014, behind <keyword id="6593120" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jai-Ho">Jai Ho</keyword>, <keyword id="72970" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="2-States">2 States</keyword>, <keyword id="6427325" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Gunday">Gunday</keyword> and <keyword id="1020628" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ragini-MMS-2">Ragini MMS 2</keyword>. Earnings on Monday fell less than 40% than what it was on Friday and the strong growth continued even on Day 5 (Tuesday, May 27) when it collected around Rs 4 crore at home. 
 
This one is a medium-budget movie and cost around Rs 26 crore including promotion. So we can safely assume that it is set to be a hit without much fuss. But all these good numbers do not essentially spell quality. 
 While Kriti Sanon (<keyword id="7876" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dimpy">Dimpy</keyword>) looks quite striking in a below-par storyline featuring love-and-marriage adventures and misadventures in Jattland, Tiger Shroff (<keyword id="230102" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bablu">Bablu</keyword>) looks quite inane unless he is in the thick of the action, doing some awesome stunts and beating up the goons. Noted film critic Anupama Chopra has given the movie 2 out of 5 stars saying, “Heropanti is comically bad and the disjointed narrative brims with low-IQ, high-testosterone men brandishing weapons. The women are puppets who either simper or scream.” 
 
Quite depressing, if you ask us, but there’s one silver lining. Both movies are raking in the moolah after a long time and that’s what matters in the business of cinema.

Box Office: Kochadaiiyaan Thrives On Rajini Power; Heropanti Soaring High

Mumbai, "Jawan", a pan-India film that is on a roll with its record-breaking box office collections, treated viewers to not just one but two Shah Rukh Khans on screen. Directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee, the movie features the superstar in the role of Vikram Rathore and his son Azaad. Critics and audiences are praising the film for being an impressive blend of high-octane stunts and a politically charged narrative with a strong emotional core. Here are seven more films that feature Shah Rukh in dual roles: 1. "Karan Arjun" (1995) - The story revolves around the titular brothers, who are reincarnated years later to avenge their father's murder at the hands of their property-hungry uncle. Also starring Salman Khan in a dual avatar, "Karan Arjun" was directed by Rakesh Roshan. 2. "Duplicate" (1998) - In this movie, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, Shah Rukh stars as an aspiring chef Bablu, and Manu, a notorious gangster. The film did not do well at the box office. 3. Mirzapur 2 will release on October 23, says Amazon Prime Video

Jalna, Sep 6 () Four people were arrested in Jalna in Maharashtra for allegedly carting away the cash safe of a bank containing Rs 7.73 lakh, a Crime Branch official said on Sunday. The incident took place on Friday morning in the district cooperative bank in Ghanswangi and the money was part of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Nidhi Yojana disbursements, said Crime Branch official Rajendra Singh Gour. "The robbers entered the bank and took away the cash safe in a tempo after they failed to break it. We first held main accused Hardeep Singh Bablu Singh Tak (29), who then named four accomplices, three of whom were arrested on Saturday," Gour said. Maha: 4 held for looting Rs 7.73 lakh from bank in Jalna

Agra, Nov 9 (IANS) Agra District Magistrate P.N. Singh on Monday banned firecrackers in Agra. Licences for the sale of firecrackers given for 12 identified spots in the city were also cancelled and the police have been told to strictly enforce the ban. The National Green Tribunal earlier had banned firecrackers in the whole NCR. The Agra DM said air quality was already poor and it could get worse if permission for crackers was granted. The AQI was 458 on Sunday. A thick layer of smog enveloped the city on Monday. The Covid-19 situation is also a cause for worry as the number of cases is continuously going up. As feared, after a brief respite in October, the November surge in the number of cases has the Agra district administration worried. In the last 24 hours, there have been 78 new cases. Agra SSP Bablu Kumar is in home isolation after his report indicated he was positive. The Agra district magistrate has also isolated himself. BJP legislator from Agra North Purushottam Khandelwal, his wife, and daughter are under treatment at a private nursing home, after their reports were found positive. Kumar said that the department would help the migrant workers earn a livelihood through fox nut production, bee farming, banana cultivation, goat rearing and mushroom cultivation under the Biotech-KISAN scheme. 57 foreigners related to Jamaat arrested The Bihar government is tightening the grip over those who had attended the congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz, as 57 foreigners of different countries have been arrested in Patna, Buxar, Kishanganj and Araria for violating visa rules. According to the police, all the arrested were associated with Tablighi Jamaat. 18 have been arrested from Araria while 17 from Patna and 11 each from Kishanganj and Buxar. All of them were tested of coronavirus but they tested negative. 21 cases belong to one family in Siwan district Siwan is the worst-affected district in Bihar and this is thanks to just one family. According to the latest numbers released by the Bihar state government, Siwan has 29 confirmed cases of Coronavirus out of which 21 belong to just one family. This has caused the sudden spurt in the number of confirmed cases in the state from 39 to 60. Additionally, active cases have doubled from 22 to 44. Bihar DM gets life threat for announcing Coronavirus screening The District Magistrate of Bihar's Darbhanga, Tyagrajan S.M., got a life threat over Facebook when he announced screening of people in a post. The accused has offered a bounty of ₹2 lakh to whoever kills the DM. Announcing the screening of people who have come from outside the state, the Darbhanga DM wrote on his official page on Thursday: "A screening test will be done of all the people who have come from outside the state". A man, Mohammad Faisal offered a bounty on the DM. He said, "Whoever will shoot the Darbhanga DM, I will give him Rs 2 lakh". Bihar closes inter-state borders Bihar has sealed all its inter-state borders with Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkhand. The border with Nepal has also been sealed. Even movement from one district to another has been stopped, except in emergencies. "Many people had thronged the state's borders. They have now been shifted to their native places and will have to remain in quarantine in schools and other places. Now on, no one can enter the state," state DGP Gupteshwar Pandey said. Around 13,000 persons who had returned to the state from elsewhere have been sent to their native places after screening. The data on those who are expected to arrive is being prepared. Returning migrants pose a challenge to the government The migrant labourers returning to Bihar has posed a big challenge to the state government as they are supposed to be kept in isolation for 14 days. Over 45,000 people had reached the UP towns bordering Bihar and more than 100,000 were expected by evening, said a Bihar Disaster Management Department official, here on March 30. Pratyam Amrit, Principal Secretary of the Disaster Management Department, said, "Six camps have been set up along the Bihar-UP border. By Monday, we are expecting 1.30 lakh people to reach the borders. We are looking to provide them food and make arrangements for their stay during the quarantine period." "People from other states are being registered at the disaster border relief camps. Their health is being checked. After food and rest, they are being provided buses by the Transport Department in the district headquarters. Arrangements have been made to send them, " said another official. One killed by migrants for reporting their arrival Bablu, a resident of Madhual village, Sitamarhi district was allegedly killed because he informed the health officials about the arrival of people from other states to his village. As per reports, two migrant workers had returned to their home from Maharashtra earlier this week. Bablu informed the health officials about their arrival who then collected the samples from the migrants. The two migrants then thrashed Bablu to death with the help of five others. All seven people involved in the assault have been arrested by the police and a case has been registered against them under the relevant sections of IPC. Migrants forced to walk home from Delhi to Bihar As factories and non-essential businesses have been shut due to the nationwide lockdown, migrants have been left jobless. A huge number of people have been forced to walk back to their native places in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh due to lack of public transport. Kishan Ram, a labourer from Bihar's Motihari, told IANS, "I used to stay in the factory where I worked. And now I am having no shelter to take refuge thus I am left with no option but to walk down to my home.” Bihar government announces ₹100 crore for Coronavirus relief fund Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has granted ₹100 crore for the Coronavirus relief fund. This fund will be used to help the poor and daily wage workers of the state. The government has said that it will provide food and shelter to the people and help the migrants stranded in other states. Bihar Coronavirus cases rise to 143, 2 dead and 42 recovered

Jalna Lok Sabha constituency comprises of six assembly constituencies including Paithan, Phulambri, Jalna, Badnapur, Bhokardan, and Sillod. Among them, the Badnapur assembly seat is reserved for SC contestants. The rest are general constituencies. For the upcoming 2019 assembly elections, Kalyan Vaijnathrao Kale of the INC will field against the BJP candidate Haribhau Bagde. From the Jalna seat, Shiv Sena is fielding Arjun Khotkar against the INC candidate Gorantyal Kailas Kishanrao. Shiv Sena’s Abdul Sattar will field against the INC candidate Prabhakar manikrao Palodkar. BJP is fielding Santosh Raosaheb Patil Danve from the Bhokardan seat and Narayan Kuche from the Badnapur seat. The assembly elections Maharshtra 2019 is scheduled on October 21, 2019. The votes will go for counting on October 24, 2019. During the 2019 elections for the Parliament, Danve Raosaheb Dadarao of BJP won from the Jalna seat with a winning margin of 206,798 votes than the runner-up candidate Autade Vilas Keshavrao of INC. During the 2014 assembly elections, Bhumre Sandipanrao Aasaram of SHS won from the Paithan seat by scoring 25039 votes more than NCP candidate Waghchaure Sanjay Yadavrao. From the Phulambri constituency, BJP’s candidate Bagde Haribhau Kisanrao secured 3611 votes more than the INC candidate Dr. Kalyan Vaijinathrao Kale and won this seat. The winner from the Jalna seat was Arjun Panditrao Khotkar of the SHS who overtook INC’s Gorantyal Kailas Kishanrao by just 296 votes. From the Badnapur (SC) seat, Kuche Narayan Tilakchand of the BJP won Chaudhari Roopkumar (Bablu) Nehrulal of NCP by 23495 votes. The winner from the Bhokardan seat was Danave Santosh Raosaheb of BJP who scored 6750 more votes than Chandrakant Pundlikrao Danave of the NCP. The winner from the Sillod seat was Abdul Sattar Abdul Nabi of the INC who scored 13921 votes more than Bankar Suresh Pandurang of the BJP.
