<keyword id="19900881" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi" source="keywords">Delhi</keyword> seems to have been dealt a bad hand this year as a never-ending heatwave gripped the national capital first, followed by a water shortage crisis spurred by an increased demand for the essential commodity. These things have already ballooned into political issues and the city has been in desperate need for some relief. Fortunately, relief of some sort is here. While the ongoing rainy spell isn’t going to fully solve Delhi’s water shortage or the settle matters between the Haryana and Delhi governments, it is a start. Between January 1 and June 26, the national capital has seen less than 20 mm of rainfall, resulting in a rainfall deficiency of 61%. To make matters worse, there were whispers of a delayed monsoon progression over Delhi. Had this come true, it might’ve been the last straw for heat-stricken Delhiites and the parched landscape. However, it seems like things started to look up for the residents of Delhi when cloudy skies rolled into the city on Wednesday. Prodded by a western disturbance, rains finally began to drench Delhi last evening. In the evening, 2.3 mm, 1.3 mm and 1.3 mm of rain were recorded in Palam, Aya Nagar and Ridge, respectively. The icing on Delhiites’ cake is that the monsoon is just around the corner too! The monsoon has reached the threshold of Delhi-UP. On Wednesday, pre-monsoon rain fell in many areas of UP, including Ayodhya. As per the India Meteorlogical Department’s indications, the southwest monsoon is expected to enter Delhi by the end of this week, around June 29-30. Given these projections, the national capital and its surrounding regions can expect moderate to heavy rains (up to 115.5 mm) accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds will continue over the next seven days. Accordingly, a yellow watch has been issued over Delhi-NCR for the forecast period so as to urge locals to ‘be updated’ about the weather conditions. Meanwhile, Delhiites are currently battling the scorching heat, and there have been nine heatwave days in June so far, while there was not a single heatwave day during the same period in 2023 and 2022. Although Delhi has got some relief from the heat compared to earlier, its daytime temperatures have stubbornly remained two notches above-normal in spite of the rains. The good news is that the city’s maximum temperature is expected to gradually drop by a whole 4-5 degrees in the next few days and touch 34°C.

Amid a cold wave prevailing in parts of northern India, Safdarjung in <keyword id="66" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="delhi" source="Orion">Delhi</keyword> recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department said on Sunday. Meanwhile, Aya Nagar also in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road recorded 2.8 degrees Celsius and Palam 5.2 degrees Celsius, the <keyword id="6366970" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="imd" source="Orion">IMD</keyword> added. A thick layer of fog covered the national capital on Sunday morning lowering visibility. The national capital and nearby states continue to witness severe cold and fog conditions. On Saturday, the IMD predicted cold wave and cold day conditions likely to continue over northwest India during the next two days till Monday. Dense to very dense fog conditions over many parts of Punjab, <keyword id="41646" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="haryana" source="Orion">Haryana</keyword>, and <keyword id="6360078" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandigarh" source="Orion">Chandigarh</keyword> during the next 48 hours and decrease and distribute thereafter, the IMD added on Saturday. According to the weather department, minimum temperatures are very likely to rise by about 2 degrees Celsius over many parts of the plains of Northwest India after two days from Tuesday onwards. No significant change in minimum temperatures is very likely over east India during the next three days till Tuesday and a rise of about 2 to 3 degrees Celsius thereafter. A fall of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is very likely over Madhya Pradesh during the next two days till Monday with no significant change during the subsequent three days till Thursday, the weather department said. Due to the continuation of prevailing light winds and high moisture near the surface over Indo-Gangetic plains, dense to very dense fog is very likely to continue in some/many parts during the night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh &amp; Delhi and <keyword id="6357713" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="Orion">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> during next two days till Monday and in isolated pockets thereafter for subsequent three days over the region. Very Dense fog in isolated pockets is very likely over Uttarakhand, north Rajasthan, Bihar, SubHimalayan West Bengal &amp; Sikkim, Assam &amp; Tripura during the next three days till Tuesday; over north Madhya Pradesh during the next two days. Delhi's Safdarjung records 1.9 degrees Celsius

<img class="gwt-Image" src="/photo/49089249.cms" />Apart from purchasing Apache and Chinook helicopters from the US, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+Air+Force+%28IAF%29+">Indian Air Force (IAF)</a> is also going to extend its fully-automated air surveillance and defence network in the entire country. 
 The <keyword id="80629" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Cabinet-Committee-on-Security">Cabinet Committee on Security</keyword>, apart from the $3 billion purchase of choppers from the US, has also cleared an almost Rs 8,000 crore project for extension of the IAF's defence network. 
 
The aim is to ensure any intrusion by a hostile aircraft, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=helicopter%2C+drone+">helicopter, drone</a> or micro-light to be detected and tackled as soon as it takes place. 
 
According to a source, the composite air picture would be available in real-time at centralised locations and the national command post. 
 
The country will have better surveillance system with the help of integrating all airborne and ground-based civilian and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=military+radars">military radars</a>. 
 
The IAF has already set-up five nodes of the integrated air command and control system (IACCS) in the western sector facing <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pakistan+">Pakistan</a> at Barnala (Punjab), Wadsar (Gujarat), Aya Nagar (Delhi), Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Ambala (Haryana) with help from defence <keyword id="437887" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="PSU-Bharat-Electronics">PSU Bharat Electronics</keyword>. 
 
There is now a plan to establish four new major nodes and 10 sub-nodes under Phase-II of the IACCS. While three nodes will be in eastern, central and southern India, the fourth is meant for the strategically-located Andaman and Nicobar Islands archipelago. 
 
Some of the new nodes will be located in underground complexes to improve survivability in face of enemy attacks, even as the entire IACCS infrastructure is also being upgraded with advanced early-warning, jam-resistant radars and the like.

Five of the 12 in the list are from northeast Delhi.</li><li>The first criminal to figure on the list of is Narender alias Ravi Gangwal wanted under MCOCA at police station Ambedkar Nagar. </li><li>The second criminal on the list is Delhi's ex-MLA Rambir Shaukeen, a resident of Nangloi in Delhi. </li></ul> After the recent crackdown on wanted criminals by Delhi Police in the past few months, the police has now updated its new list of 12 'Most Wanted' criminals who have gone underground after committing heinous offences. Five of the 12 in the list are from northeast Delhi. The first criminal to figure on the list of is Narender alias Ravi Gangwal wanted under MCOCA at police station Ambedkar Nagar. He runs his own gang and has been a challenge for Delhi Police for his involvement in various heinous crimes in the city. He is a resident of Madangir and carries a reward of 50,000. The second criminal on the list is Delhi's ex-MLA Rambir Shaukeen, a resident of Nangloi in Delhi. Rambir Shaukeen is the maternal uncle of gangster Neeraj Bawana. In 2015, an AK-47 was allegedly recovered from Shokeen's Bawana property. In 2018, Shaukeen absconded from Delhi's Safradjung hospital in Delhi from the custody of UP police. A reward of 50,000 has been declared on his arrest. The third criminal in the list is Rashid, alias Cablewala, a resident of Chauhan Banger in Trans Yamuna area of North East Delhi. He is wanted for several cases including murder and Arms Act at police station Welcome. He carries a reward of 50,000 for his arrest. The fourth is gangster Kapil Gangwan infamous as Nandu. He operates his own gang in Najafgarh and the adjoin areas. He too is wanted in cases of murder and Arms Act amongst other crimes in the capital. Kapil too carried a reward of 50,000 for his arrest. Jyoti Sangwan, the brother of Kapil Sangwan is the fifth criminal in the most wanted list. He too has almost the same number of heinous cases registered against him in Dwarka North police station including that of murder. Kasim, another criminal from North East Delhi features on Delhi police most wanted list at number six. A resident of Brahampuri, he is infamous in the area as Raju Bachain. He is wanted in murder, attempt to murder beside several other cases in New Usmanpur police station. He too carries a reward of Rs 50,000. At number seven, Delhi police has the name of Hashim alias Baba. He is a resident of Mustafabad. Besides murder and attempt to murder many other cases have been registered against him in North East Delhi's Jafrabad police station. Hashim carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Vikas Langpuria, another dreaded criminal is at number eight on the most wanted list of Delhi Police. He is a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana and has several cases registered against him in Najafgarh . He is wanted in MCOCA too. Vikas too has a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his arrest. At number nine is Vijay Singh, alias Vijay Pehalwan. He is a resident of village Kishan Garh in Delhi and has several cases registered against him including that of murder at Vasnt Kunj North in Delhi. Vijay also carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Abdul Nasir, a notorious criminal from Jafrabad is listed at number 10. He is wanted by crime branch of Delhi Police under MCOCA. At number 11 is Samir alias Chhotu, a resident of North East Delhi's Jafrabad. He too carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh and is wanted in Seelampur police station for murder and other cases. At number 12 is Rohit Chowdhary, a resident of Aya Nagar in Delhi. He is wanted in murder case of Saket beside other criminal offenses. He too carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Delhi Police in the past few months has launched an offensive against its most wanted criminals and has been successful in arresting Jitender Maan alias Gogi (29), Delhi's most-wanted gangster, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 6.5 lakh on his head, and was arrested by Delhi Police along with his three accomplices, from Gurugram in March this year. On July 8, the special cell of Delhi Police was also successful in arresting notorious criminal Sandeep Dhillon from Siliguri in West Bengal. He fled from police custody in February 2018 from a Delhi hospital. Meet Delhi's 12 'Most Wanted' criminals

New Delhi, Apr 30 () A 32-year-old sub-inspector of Delhi Police deployed at Okhla sabzi mandi tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, following which 40 personnel who came in contact with him have been asked to go on home quarantine, officials said.He was attached with the Amar Colony police station in southeast district, they said. "After a police personnel attached with Amar Colony police station was tested positive for COVID-19, samples of 35 police personnel were sent for testing following which two others were also subsequently tested positive for Coronavirus. Today, we received report of a Sub-Inspector who is also tested positive for the infection," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) RP Meena said.In total, four police personnel attached with the Amar Colony police station have been tested positive, he said. The sub-inspector is being shifted to a hospital while 40 police personnel who came in contact him have been asked to go on home quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure, the DCP added.He reported to duty last on Tuesday and lived with his family in Aya Nagar, police said, adding that his family members will also be tested for coronavirus. Delhi Police sub-inspector tests COVID-19 positive

Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act resulted in huge traffic snarls across the national capital during the morning peak hours on Thursday, with the Delhi-Gurgaon route virtually chocked with vehicles. "Police have placed barricades and are checking vehicles coming from Gurgaon to Delhi due to which the traffic is affected on the stretch," the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted. Traffic is heavy in the carriageway from Delhi Gate to GPO due to Swabhiman Rally, the police said. Traffic is also affected on the Subhash Marg, Peeli Kothi, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg, Red Fort and Old Delhi Railway Station. Authorities tweeted regular updates on the traffic situation. "Traffic is heavy in the carriageway from Aya Nagar Border to Delhi and Kapashera Border to Delhi due to demonstration. Road No. 13A between Mathura Road and Kalindi Kunj is closed for traffic movement. People coming from Noida are advised to take DND or Akshardham to reach Delhi," the <keyword id="6358992" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-Police">Delhi Police</keyword> said in a tweet. Despite prohibitory orders issued by the Delhi Police, protestors have gathered at Red Fort and Mandhi House.
